Guest Reviews
- Jan (7/5): - Freundliches Personal Warmes Wasser nur am Morgen
- Nowell (10/5): Very friendly - Lovely Spot on
- Carissa (10/5): Betta is a hidden gem ! Would 10/10 recommend spending a night or two here ! -
- Kaylan (9/5): -
- sajith (9/5): Great place to stay in the middle of nowhere. - The Hotel staff was friendly and they waited till I arrived after long gravel road. Best Restaurant and food was awesome. Tobias in the restaurant was friendly and calm. Lack of WiFi
Inget wifi. Dåliga duschar.
- Johan (8/5): So lovely small town, a must visit!!! - It was clean and nicely located for visiting Sossusvlei Just the gravel road to get there was, but it is part of the experience
- Ewe (10/5): -
- Nadeen (8/5): Comfortable stay - Clean and comfortable rooms
Nice atmosphere and scenery
Great view of stars at night
Air conditioned rooms WiFi coverage very poor. Limited to only reception area, and no WiFi/cell phone reception in the chalets. Okay for one night but may be difficult for several nights.
- Frederik (7/5): -
- Miya (8/5): - The rooms were clean and comfortable. We arrived very late and someone was waiting for us and helped with everything we needed. They also advised us about the road conditions of the route we planned to take the next day. The signage was not visible in the dark and had difficulty finding the place

- FREDERICK J (10/5): -
- Hans (3/5): Highly dissappointing - Breakfast was not worth mentioning as usual.I liked the refuel option and the new barn like restaurant and bar-obviously for tourist groups , but of no benefit to SA travellers Room 9- the largest was a disaster.Worn out mattresses in 2 single beds.Tea and coffee making required an extension cord across the chalet. The was no proper cupboard with hangers for clothes, not any other place/space to store clothes .Result was they remained in luggage plsced on tea table. No shady net for patio like in no 6, nor proper grill either. No umbrella for shade. No 9 is free standing unit with no tree behind or in front and is best avoided. The mediocer dinner-chicken breast in phyllo plus a salad(we do not eat desert), was totally over-priced at ND450.After 3 weeks of self driving throughout Namibia,a beautiful but difficult tour, we knew that the norm was between ND 250 to ND 300 at most .The high price was not encountered anywhere at similar establishments. Not even at numerous Gondwana hotels who used to offer expensive buffets.Though having paid for 2 nights, we left after the first highly dissappointed. There are better lodges both north and south of Beta.
- Bernhard (8/5): -
- Kitley (5/5): Overall very clean and nice , but please/ test all drains - Location was great/ awesome The shower id main bathroom was block/ no one to contact . Dog on site need medical attention / running / cold fringe would be nice on arrival
- Guy (1/5): IF YOU WANT TO DO CHECK-IN AFTER 5.30 PM DO NOT GO TO THIS PLACE!! - NOTHING!! We had booked and fully paid for this stay months in advance. Unfortunately, due to a road diversion we arrived two hours later than expected (check-in was required before 5:30 pm!!!!). On the way we had no mobile connection, so we couldn’t reach the property despite trying to call and send WhatsApp messages.
When we finally arrived, the place was completely closed and nobody was there to receive us. Only once we had Wi-Fi at the property could we send messages, but still nobody answered. We ended up having to spend the night in our car.
The next day we managed to speak to the manager, who excused herself by saying that there was no internet connection where she lives. That is simply unacceptable. She promised to refund us within 14 days, but we had to wait over a month and only received the money back after Booking.com intervened. Our reminder emails in the meantime were ignored.
A truly disgraceful experience. Stay away!
- Ben (8/5): - Newly built, very nice. Quiet at night, many stars Nothing comes to mind
- Johan du Preez (8/5): - 1. The location on the route I was travelling. An ideal overnight stop.
2. Friendly staff.
3. Good meals. Genuinely!
- Carol (9/5): Good overnight stop - Location
Staff & dogs friendly
Xcellent breakfast Nothing
- Hennie (8/5): Very good - The room was clean, new linen. Just as we liked it. No wi-fi available.
- Dirk (10/5): Exceptional -
- Charel (8/5): Very nice - No coffee station in room.
No bar facitities that was open and no tv to watch rugby.
Breakfast to expensive.
- Jacoba (10/5): Exceptional -
- Sl (3/5): Disappointing experience in the middle of nowhere. - Beautiful Sunset and Sunrise.
Fabi and Simion were very helpful despite a lack of support from the owners. Shocking, shocking, shocking service from owners.
Rude owner/management clearly did not want to interact with guests. Wanted 'proof' of a dinner reservation email. A clear example of the absence of the owners/management was that our booking included breakfast, but kitchen staff continued to charge us for breakfast. Breakfast included a raw omelette.
Do not expect Wi-Fi, you have to buy Wi-Fi vouchers that can only be used in one spot.
You really need to up your game and you have to decide that you want to work with guests if you are to survive.
Overall experience was that owners are detached and inflexible.
- Barend (9/5): Most enjoyable. - The setting and appearance. Kitchen outside. Had to venture outside for an early morning cuppa.
- Bothma (9/5): Superb -
- Ilse (5/5): Passable - It was clean, but not what we expected Hot water was heated by a donkey... Never enough hot water.. Self catering had no fridge
- Ernst (3/5): Great location and rooms, but staff extremely unfriendly and unhelpful, with no help with meal bookings. Alt Kronenhof W -
- Decee (2/5): Took half an hour to reach someone to show me to my room. After they contacted me on the same morning to make sure I pay - Location No warm water for showers even though I informed them that I will arrive late.
- Mathew (10/5): Excellent - Great rooms and braai facilities. The braai facilities included a full set of plates and implements, in addition a twin gas hob, outdoor sink etc is provided…. Basically just bring your wood and food).
The rooms were clean and the AC worked well.
There was an issue with an error in booking the rooms, but the manager sorted this out immediately to our advantage, it was very much appreciated.
Note the is a onsite shop where cold beers and soft drink, frozen meat and food in tins were available, so if you needed any of the basics it is available but I believe the shop closes at 5pm? If a swimming pool is important to you please be aware it is 1.5kms away at the camp site, so realistically you would have to drive. The pool had a layer of dirt at the bottom and the pool cleaning device was not moving but the pump was on. So this is an area that would require attention.
- Janse (6/5): Pleasant -
- Marianne (8/5): It was good - The room was comfortable. The sign posting was bad. We drove past the place as there was no sign or board stating BETTA.
- Pierre (8/5): Beautiful surroundings. Friendly staff. Will visit again - Location. Clean linen. Cooking facilities were okay..not great Cooking facilities not great
- Paolo (10/5): Marvelous stargazing places 💐✨✨✨ - Simplicity , friendliness, professionalism, very helpful and always happy and smiling 😋🐾🤩🤩🤩 Nothing..
Everything marvelous... In the simplicity style...
- Andrey (9/5): Clean little cottage at the farm - Good location. Nice territory. Very clean cottage, 4 beds in 2 rooms. (Still not separated by any door, just half the wall). Very comfortable beds, nice shower that it heated for you by the outside wood-fire heater. Water available outside the cottage, really convenient if something needs to be washed after the road. Brai looks good, but we haven’t used it. Internet is very poor. You have to buy vouchers from reception, coverage only at reception, it disconnects immediately, and you need to buy a new one.
- P (6/5): Offer good basics - In the wild Dust
Hot water system via donkey is inadequate- not on. Hot water must always be available. Food is micro wave heated - not on
- Dunstan (8/5): Excellent! - Great location, secure and great staff!
- Pieter (8/5): Confortable surprise... - Nice rural setting Kitchen utensils difficult to reach....Kitchen layout poor.
Making hot water was hassle, but we managed......Bed was hard....mattress needs attention/replacement
- Sandhya (9/5): Superb - Great location, 20 minute drive to Fish River Canyon. Staff were very friendly and helpful, the campsite and facilities are clean and the site has a wonderful Restaurant/gift store/guide on site. There is a pool, petrol station and a great walking trail behind the camp sites.
- Jami (10/5): Exceptional -
- Desmond (9/5): Superb - Great facilities and friendly and helpful staff. Terrible public roads leading to and from Betta Camp!
- Nicholas (10/5): Exceptional - Perfect stop for us en route to Sesriem. Very comfortable 2 room chalet. Very helpful staff. Had a puncture on the way which they fixed for us. Very tasty dinner and breakfast. Nothing!
- Sven (9/5): Superb -
- Magda (7/5): Good -
- Magda (5/5): Passable -
- Potter (10/5): Excellent camp site … recommend a stay for sure - Jo the manager was terrific and runs a very welcome campsite. Highly recommend a stay here. Chalets are very good
- Marc (2/5): Bad, bad, bad ! if you stay in the Camp ! - Nothing Remote with no staff service. No Wifi connection at all. No chance to boil water or prepare food. Water from tab was muddy. Toilet and shower in the open air. At night without secure connection to the room. Toilet display on stage for everyone visible. No cups, no cutleries, no nothing. No cushions at all near the pool or anywhere. Chairs and sunbeds fully covered with bird droppings. Water was been heated with an open wood fire. Whereas the Smoke from fire covered the inside of the shed where we slept. Could not breath. Very simple beddings in a metal sheet shack.
- Charmaine (8/5): Will stay there again. - The quiet tranquility was awesome
Beautiful sunrise and sunsets
Views so vast…. You can almost see into tomorrow😳 It looked very different from photos on the booking…why?
Tried to call and email property on many occasions to make arrangements for arrival times and dinner with no success.
- Peter (8/5): Very good -
- Marek (8/5): Chalets en route to Sesriem - Clean chalets and friendly staff. Water heated by donkey boiler which the staff light on request. Nice outside braai area. Portable air conditioner does not cool and is very noisy. Was cooler with it off. Fan in room 2 was noisy.
- West (8/5): Very good -
- Helen (10/5): Exceptional - A great place to stop. Loved the evening meal and breakfast. Our accommodation was just what was required after a long drive. Would definitely recommend this place. We loved it.
- Alan (8/5): Very good - In the right place to stop between the main tourist stops. Helpful staff. Outside kitchen was very basic, had to boil the water in a pan, a stove top kettle would be good.
- Margherita (10/5): Lovely desert stay! We liked it so much that we stopped there 4 times ;) - Everything! Front the staff which make it very special because they take care of everything during your stay, they want you to have the most beautiful experience. To the location itself: this amazing wild place in Namibia, with super comfortable and beautiful rooms
- Loret (5/5): Passable -
- Brenda (8/5): Very good -
- Karen (6/5): Practical Stop along on journey. - Property and Rooms well maintained and clean. Much thought clearly given towards practicality and comfort. Staff member showing us the rooms upon arrival was friendly. It felt as if more attention was given to the upkeep of the property than the actual guests arriving. Simple things such us ensuring that the donkeys heat up water for the evening shower were forgotten.
We stayed in the main camp and drove the 1.5 km's to get to the swimming pool and lapa area.
Suspect staying in the mountain camp with pool and lapa in closer vicinity would make for a better experience.
Air coolers in room was rather loud and (though it helps with extreme heat) not as effective.
- Gilano (8/5): The natural landscape was breathtaking -
- Anna (9/5): Helpful and friendly place - Team were super helpful when we awoke to a flat tyre and wanted to get the puncture fixed. They were eally accommodating with ss laving a little late as well. Handy place to stop and we'll stocked in ther shopping with food and drink options. Room was fairly comfy and the resident doors on site were really lovely and cuddly and added to our stay.
- Mona (10/5): Lovely spot! - We had a great stay here, it’s very spacious and the facilities are perfect. The prices on booking.com seem to be wrong and while we had booked a chalet, the staff told us that for the price we can only be given a tent. We showed them the confirmation and after some debate they agreed to give us the chalet. We appreciate that they sorted this out for us. Once booking.com is updated with the correct rates, these misunderstandings can be avoided.
- Judith (8/5): Just what we needed in a good location - Clean, quiet, comfortable , nice staff, good dinner and breakfast No fridge or safe but they are working hard on the place and there’s a quiet private place to sit outside for a drink and a read.
- Gerhard (8/5): Very good -
- Susan (7/5): A pleasant stopover. - This was a convenient stopover. The chalets are well spaced which gives privacy. The room is not large but served it’s purpose. It was, with one exception, the only place we stayed with no Wi-Fi! Not really a problem for one night though.
- Keith (7/5): Good - The room was comfortable and their staff assisted us with heating of the water
There was a nice braai and table for us to use There was no free Wi-Fi and the price for the use of their Wi-Fi was exorbitant and this was only available at the shop. There is also no cellphone reception at the place most of the time.
- Karl (6/5): Good enough for a night - Peaceful place for a stop over.
Beautiful star watching since there is practically no light pollution. No warm water.
No WiFi
Not enough pots/pans for self catering.
Unlike foto sows , there is no pool
- Ian (10/5): Exceptional - Nice equipped units and great reception on arrival by Jo. Located on the road so no side tracking needed. Nice spot for a braai and sunset. It would be nice to have power points near the beds to charge cellphones.
- Annake (8/5): Very good -
- Georg (8/5): Very good - was delayed in arriving and hosts waited till we arrived
- Rene (9/5): Superb -
- Michaela (9/5): relaxing rest in the middle of nowhere - Because of car problems I arrived after dark and only saw the beautyful surrounding in the morning. What I saw then was wonderful including a quiver tree in sunrise.
The room was not too small and clean. For this low price I did not expect something this nice. The bed was surpisingly comfortable - better than in some of the high class hotels.
You can park right infront of your room so you do not have to carry your luggage a long way.
They use solar power. How great is that? I arrived 5 minutes prior to the end of check-in and nobody was there and no message to be found. Later I found other guests who helped me sort this out. There was a key in the door to my room. But even though those wonderful other guests even tried to start a fire for the water of my hut there was no warm water. I should have arrived before sunset instead of trusting the check-in time stated (to 8 pm) but could not because of the car problems.
- Jaco (8/5): Nice, friendly rustic stay. - Everything was there that we needed to prepare dinner, and the shop was fully stocked with extras that we needed.
It was nice and quiet and rustic with a donkey for hot water and kettle on a gas burner for coffee. The staff were all extremely friendly, and the environment was awesome, with birds chirping. we saw geese peacock and various other birds. We loved the decor and feeling close to nature they are really putting forth an environment friendly stay. The room curtains were see-through that was very auckword to dress in the evening and early morning. There is also no door separating the toilet from the bedroom, which is not nice.
- Ena (5/5): Passable -
- Schalk (7/5): Good -
- Albertus (6/5): Pleasant - The open toilet in the room.
- Elfie (9/5): Superb -
- George (1/5): Unbearably hot with no decent aircon. No wifi in room. No decent cooking facilities. One plug only!! - Nothing Everything
- Myriam (6/5): Room was clean and OK for one night - Nice and quiet surrounding, nice dog Air-condition was extremely loud and did not work. Wi-Fi only 100MB, food only until 5pm
- Iryna (9/5): Cozy and comfortable - Very cozy and clean. Nice outdoor siting area with grill and all kitchen appliances - perfect for self catering. Since it’s a small farm, we bought some oryx meet directly from them for barbecue and it was delicious. They also have restaurant on site in case you need full board Toilet in the room is not very private, but it was ok for 1 night stay
- Celeste (9/5): Superb - We arrived late and still received warm welcome.
- Emily (6/5): I’m btwresting spot for a layover. You have to plug in very loud fan all night to block out barking dogs!! - lovely oasis stopover. very friendly receptionist Barking dogs at night and no extension lead to plug in fridge. only one socket in room to service all electrical appliances
- Ian (9/5): Superb -
- Adriaan (10/5): Exceptional -
- Elzette (5/5): Passable - The Deluxe room was beautiful and we loved it a lot. Your advertise airconditioner but it is only a aircooler. Not airconditioner. And we booked with you because there was a airconditioner in the room. It was very hot and realy uncomfortable without real airconditioner as advertised.
- Aidan (10/5): Exceptional - the foreman in the black bakkie was very friendly and helpful when i needed directions to Swakopmund and tire pressures .
- Hennie (9/5): Superb -
- Mitjak (10/5): Nice place - Delicious dinner and breakfast... nice place
- Sj (10/5): Exceptional -
- Fritz (8/5): Very good -
- Maddy (6/5): Pleasant - Was comfortable and clean and food was available. Had to pay for wifi, got a tiny bit for free which didn’t work. The pool was too dirty to use according to staff. The fan stopped working in the night. Barely hot water.
- Johan (8/5): Very good -
- Ac (10/5): Exceptional -
