Guest Reviews
- Jon (10/5): Great place to stay in Cambridge - Great place to stay for business- quite location, but within walking distance of the city centre. Very friendly service, definitely will stay again.
- Verified traveler (10/5): - Clean, quiet and easy to find. Free street parking
- Verified traveler (8/5): - The room is very clean and the breakfast is good. The staff is helpful and nice.
- Ian (6/5): Average - Be aware that people arriving late at night will wake you up. Night porter needs to remind people to be quiet, instead at 12am several people talking at full volume including the night porter :-( Breakfast average. Bacon could be used to build houses with. Overall not bad, it's clean and service was good.
- Verified traveler (8/5): Experience in Cambridge Robinson College - The room is clean and spacious. The bed is comfortable. The environment is quiet. No TV and no refrigerator. The staff recommended me to walk to city centre. I prefer talking bus instead. It costs £2@.
- Verified traveler (10/5): - It's the most recent college in Cambridge, so don't expect ancient architecture or the comfort of a modern hotel. Yet if you are comfortable with a basic accommodation this college offers a modernist style architecture perfectly blended with a beautiful park.
- Verified traveler (10/5): - The rooms have been freshly renovated, the view to the park (garden) in the morning is just gorgeous. You have to be aware that this is not a five star hotel but a college dorm used to accommodate conference attendees!
- Andrew (6/5): Good student accommodatio let down by minor issues - Good basic student type rooms with good bathrooms and breakfast included, a quite long but pleasant walk through a pretty laneway from the town centre. There was a range of minor annoyances that need to be fixed.
1. There's a minuscule amenities kit provided with a sliver of soap, and a tiny shampoo and shower gel. This probably done in an effort to boost stars from 3 to 4, but the outcome is much much worse than if they'd simply left a proper bar of soap. I was there for five days. On the second cleaning day they removed everything, didn't replace with anything on that or any later day. I had nothing to wash hands with after the toilet. That's just yeuch. Eventually sorted myself out, but it shows a basic lack of understanding that you can't by providing a pretty tiny amenity pack on day 1, and have no soap for days 2 to 5. Same attitude carried over on other matters - disposable wrapped plastic glass was in room on check in (good). It was neither replaced nor washed. So I had only a scummy disposable plastic glass to come home to. Had to use cup to drink.
2. Breakfast is so 1970s. They pile up a mound of carb heavy fatty food on your plate with no thought to health. Must have been six eggs in the egg mound (two heaped serving spoons). Unhealthy and unthoughtful. Only Cafe on site has exactly one hot meal other than sandwiches - Pizza. And it's a mile walk to city. Unhealthy!!!!
3. Need a wall grip for shower. Unsafe
- Scott (8/5): OK for overnight - Basic but spacious accomodation.
No TV & parking can be tricky.
Excellent buffet hot & cold breakfast.
15 min walk to city
Staff & service 100% throughout.
- Nitchawan (8/5): - Even though this is student accommodation, the room is almost the same as hotel room. The room is brand new and quite big. With two twin beds, there is still enough space for large luggage. There are free bottled water, coffee, tea, kettle, the bathroom amenities. The check in is easy. The only minus side is the check out time is 9 AM, so it's quite early than the normal hotel. If we were to be in Cambridge again, we will definitely stay here again.
- Verified traveler (8/5): Nice stay 15 minute walk from central Cambridge - Relatively cheap accommodation with good breakfast. The room was decent, even though the layout of double bathrooms (one with toilet, and one with bathtub sink) was a bit strange. I had shared bathroom but was only resident so did not matter.
- Verified traveler (10/5): Great location centre of Cambridge - Really beautiful college grounds , very relaxing lovely views from our room across the gardens
- Deb (10/5): Lovely room with excellent location - The room is student accommodation but excellently appointed and provides tea and coffee and wifi. Newly decorated, spotless and with ensuite - perfect
- Pui Neng (10/5): Very nice hotel - The room is very neat and tidy. It is spaceous and comfortable. Breakfast is a wow. The dining hall is carpeted, showing that the place is properly managed and those eating there are very well-behaved. The hotel environment is fresh, with a lot of greenery. It is value for money.
- Terri (10/5): Simple, basic, clean and friendly - Needed a bed for the weekend whilst attending a festival. Just the job, clean, comfortable bed, friendly staff and a great breakfast! What more could you want?
- Martin (10/5): Simple clean room at reasonable price - If you need a cheaper option than the usual B&Bs, many universities rent out student rooms during the holidays. This was just what I needed - a no-frills place to sleep over night and nothing else. Breakfast was included anyway so I had a nice English Breakfast. Vegetarian and continental were also available for those that wanted them. Porters were polite and helpful. Only bad thing was the early check out time of 9.30; other than a good place to stay if you are on a budget or only need a place to sleep for a few hours.
- Verified traveler (4/5): Not comfortable - Too cold. Heating switched off. Checkout at an unreasonable time of 09:30. Breakfast old and stale.
- Melanie (10/5): Pleasantly surprised! Great stay at Uni. - The porters were super hospitable. Really made sure the stay was enjoyable.
- Sarah (10/5): Everything was great! - Very clean and comfortable room. Staff were incredibly helpful. Breakfast was good -- just wished they served until 10. It stopped at 9:00 a.m. and that is a little early to get up when one is on vacation. But overall, great accommodations and would definitely stay again.
- Verified traveler (10/5): Good quality student hall type accommodation - Very handy for the CMS where I attended a conference. Good quality student hall accommodation and an excellent fry up in the morning. Got exactly what was promised.
- OJ (10/5): Very convenient and clean for a low price - 24 hour ooncierge, great breakfast included, very clean and functional room.
Quite far away (by foot) from the center, but good public transportation and the walk through the campus is very nice anyway...
- Verified traveler (10/5): Comfortable place to stay - I mainly chose this place because it's location was near to where I was working, but was pleasantly surprised how good the room was. In particular, the bed was more comfortable than in many Cambridge colleges. Also, good breakfast.
- Caroline (8/5): Short stay - Comfortable, great breakfast and friendly staff. Close to the law Faculty and a short, scenic walk into the centre of Cambridge. Tea and coffee facilities too.
- Martin (10/5): Experience great modern British Architecture - Great
We have been "up at Cambridge" at last
Wonderful to stay in classic piece of modern architecture
- Verified traveler (10/5): Perfect cambr6stay - Very friendly porters always there to help... Great breakfast buffet and an excellent location
- Richard (8/5): Student accomodation in Cambridge - This is a very convenient place to stay especially if you do not mind being in student accommodation. The staff were all very friendly and there was a good breakfast. Robinson College is about 15 minute walk from the Market Place - so very convenient.
- Masaaki (8/5): 便利な場所、リーズナブルな値段 - 入口になにも看板がなくわかりにくいが、大学に行くには便利な場所、リーズナブルな値段で良いホテルでした。
- Fatima (10/5): better than expected for student accommodation - so cool that they have their own toiletries
- David (10/5): - Very friendly greeting from the porter. Room very good overlooking the garden. Breakfast excellent.
- Rob (10/5): Great location and great value. - Excellent place to stay for a short stay in Cambridge. Simply furnished but functional accommodation. Great breakfast included too. Highly recommended.
- Stephen (6/5): Conference venue - We found that the corridors were not very friendly with a wheel assisted stroller, being narrow and having wooden bars on most door approaches.
Directions to lifts not very clear
- Petri (8/5): Student housing for summer visitors - This is a student housing for Robinson college. Rooms have nice view but are very basic. Good for a couple of days, though. Breakfast and WiFi included and walking distance to city centre is 1.5 km. I would stay again in this hotel since other Cambridge hotels are extremely expensive.
- Verified traveler (8/5): いいホテル - 静かでリラックスできました。
- Melai (10/5): Close to town centre and good facilities. - Very impressed with the room and facilities. The breakfast was excellent and the staff were helpful and friendly. Highly recommended.
- Verified traveler (10/5): Convenient location and great value - Very comfortable and good sized room with ensuite. Location great and staff very friendly / helpful.
- Verified traveler (4/5): - The college is lovely and so are all the staff. But a 9am check out time on a Sunday seems a bit too much for the £70 price tag. Not to mention the revolting smell in the room - it was kept neat and clean but it had a horrible odour of beer mixed with sweat.
- RADHIKA (10/5): Great stay - Great place to stay. The rooms were very clean and comfortable. The staff especially at the reception (called porters) were really helpful
- Verified traveler (8/5): Nice staying in a Cambridge college - Robinson College is renting out student rooms during the summer so don't expect much luxury. But rooms are clean and comfortable, the college has lovely gardens and striking architecture (modern not old). And a full English breakfast is provided.
- Michael (10/5): Stay in a Cambridge University "red brick" college - Excellent - after I'd found the main entrance (porter's lodge)!
- Marko (8/5): Decent hotel in a Cambridge college - A nice room in one of the more modern Cambridge colleges. The room is not big, looks like it's normally used for student accommodation, but had everything except TV (which I didn't miss much for the 1-night stay). There is free WiFi in the room that works well. Breakfast is also very decent.
- Verified traveler (10/5): A College if Welcome - Most importantly, all the staff I met were extremely welcoming and helpful.
The room was fresh, clean and comfortable.
The breakfast was exceptional.
As the newest of the University Colleges, the modern architecture and wonderful grounds payed tribute not only to modernity but also to the grandure of the antiquity of Cambridge University.
It was a longer walk to the town centre than advertised nevertheless, I thoroughly enjoyed the walk and this enhanced my stay.
