Guest Reviews
- Strathearn (9/5): - Overall vibe of the place and friendly helpful Manager (Ben)
- Peter (10/5): - The set-up at Tranquil Point is great. Really relaxing location with beautiful grounds and lovely views from the accommodation/public rooms over the stunning coast/estuary. The facilities are great for cooking and there is a relaxing lounge with good library and nice places to sit for eating in the kitchen or lounge. Ben is incredibly helpful and is always looking out for ways to improve everyone's stay (which in my case was allowing me to stay an extra couple of hours in my room to deal with some last minute e-mails - which was v much appreciated!). I'd love to go back. Nothing - it was great.
- Anne (7/5): We enjoyed the opportunity of our one night stay. - The location was lovely. The room and bathroom were clean and tidy. There wasn’t a TV for an option of our own entertainment.
- Niall (7/5): - Great location. Everything you could need in the kitchen. Helpful staff person. Reasonable price. Mattress too hard for my liking. Very poor noise proofing.
- shaun (9/5): see above - location beautiful. host was fantastic. very relaxing. all good
- Aoife (10/5): Lovely stay - The location of Tranquil point stay is absolutely stunning, there’s water on 3 sides so you wake up to a beautiful view through the windows. Ben is so welcoming and has decorated all of the rooms using local products which we appreciated. We took part in the Bikram yoga in the morning on site and would highly recommend! Would 100% stay again :)
- Nicolas (10/5): - Chill place with beautiful surroundings, Ben is really nice
Bed comfy and chimney to warm up
- LJ (10/5): -
- Julie (9/5): Very welcoming great stay - Lovely very chilled Nothing
- Sonny (10/5): Superb location, highly recommended - Wow, what an amazing place.
Super comfortable beds.
Sunrise and sunset vantage points.
Ben is a great host bursting with positivity.
Hot yoga studio onsite.
Sassy the little resident doggo loves a pat.
Would have stayed longer if there was vacancy. Having to leave.
- Stephen (10/5): -
- Naho (10/5): -
- Rachel (5/5): Not impressed, shared facilities - Nothing, didnt realise the the whole place had shared everything and we only was paying for a single bedroom with no tv. Time curfews for using the facilities
- Roger (10/5): -
- ChrDa (10/5): -
- Andrea (8/5): Beautiful, despite the cold. - Beautiful spot, but terrible week of very bleak, cold weather. It was cold. As the only person staying, I spent a lot of time managing the fire.
- Jane (9/5): - Absolutely beautiful setting with lake all around. A heater in the bedroom would have made it perfect but that's the only thing.
- Franklin (8/5): Great location, good facilities, fantastic host. - fantastic location, great facilities and wonderful host. It was all good.
- Denise (1/5): When the host goes away, and doesn’t give a dam about the guest, except for the $’s they have paid! - Location is ok, if it isn’t raining and extremely windy. No internet, no hot water unless you light the fire.
The owner wasn’t there so he switched everything off.
Worst bed I have ever slept in.
For $190 per night there are other options where the host cares about you. He was in Thailand, he called 5 days before to say he would one there. I suggested I book somewhere else, he wasn’t going to refund my money..very greedy.. he said I could continue to stay at $180 per night with no internet, hot water or host, and sleep in a bed where the springs dig into you all night. So many things missing for that price.
- Gemma (8/5): Very good -
- Gemma (8/5): Very good -
- Lorna (10/5): Excellent Stay - On arrival, Ben was there to meet us and show us to our room.... Ben also had a fire going for us in the lounge... we also had a shared kitchen with 3 brothers... The pantry was well stocked with tea, coffee and all the spices you would need for a good curry... The views and scenery were stunning.. there is also a wee beach just down some stairs which was beautiful.. outside was a very large fire pit with a barbecue to the side... Ben was a lively hist and always had a fire going for us on our arrival back from a day trips... was lovely just to chill with no TV or electronics as we played games at night.. Loved everything
- Janine (9/5): Peaceful and friendly - Truly tranquil and easy to find
- Florian (10/5): Exceptional - Super spot and nice people
- Suzette (10/5): The name says it all. It’s a tranquil & beautiiful place. - Being made to feel very welcome on our arrival and during our whole stay.
Sharing the lovely living area, the well appointed kitchen and the garden fire pit area - all with suburb views was wonderful. This enabled guests to meet each other.
The peace and quiet and fabulous water and mountain views and the expansive garden.
- Richard (8/5): - Lovely quiet location and super helpful host. Our room was a bit noisy and lacking in privacy but otherwise fine
- Allison (10/5): Exceptional - Everything was great Nothing
- Heidi (10/5): Exceptional - Location was tranquil, lovely grounds, two beaches to choose from.
Very comfy shared lounge with crackling fire and great kitchen.
Great place for a group.
- Rodney (6/5): Pleasant enough but wouldn’t return - Its position The beds were too low and no chair in the bedroom
- Dawn (10/5): We felt like we were at a home away from home.Amazing - This is an amazing place to stay. The facilities were top notch everything thing you needed was there and Ben was amazing. He just couldn’t do enough for you. There is nothing we didn’t like about this property
- Williams (10/5): Great - Stunning space
Fantastic host
Everything was perfect
- Lena (10/5): Ben host is a joy. The setting and views like a peaceful retreat. Come prepared with food, IGA great - Ben was the best of hosts, nothing was too much trouble. Settings and views beautiful. Like a relaxing retreat. Hard to find. Didn't know there was no places to eat and just got to the IGA in time to get groceries as there is a well equiped kitchen in the shared living areas however we had the place to ourselves.
- Glen (9/5): Tranquil Point was truly relaxing. - It was lovely to have the whole house to ourselves. The home had everything required for our stay. It was lovely being able to pick a few greens from the vegie garden. Good selection of books in the library and the fire warmed the place on a cool evening. Nothing.
- Doug (8/5): Very good -
- Peter (7/5): Good -
- Jenny (8/5): Very good -
- Cherrie (9/5): Enjoyed the stay. - Clean and large spaces.
We were welcomed by wood-fire and warm house
Owner was pleasant and helped with luggage.
Explained and shown us the house and surrounding. Cold bed
- Nick (9/5): Cosy and secluded - Location and amenities. Great living area, kitchen, and amazing spice selection Nothing
- Paul (10/5): Really interesting with little beaches and a seal out in the bay. Host Ben was very friendly. Couldn’t recommend this pl - Beautiful location.
- Belinda (8/5): Very good - Great views for timelapse photography, especially sunset in June (when the clouds break). Unfortunately didn’t catch any aurora this time but good south facing potential down on the water. Cosy fire, lots of nature and quiet. Beautiful 😊 I chose Tranquil Point because it was out of town, away from artificial light. I had a car, so no problem for me, but just be aware of the distance to the closest town if that’s necessary for you.
- Ellen (7/5): Good -
- Simon (9/5): Tranquility hits the spot. - What a great find, a real slice of heaven. If you're looking for a tranquil spot to rest up either alone or in a group, this place lives up to its name. That fireput, the views!! Ben was a fabulous host, really knowledgeable of the area. Highly recommended, enjoy. Having to leave.
- Adam (10/5): Perfect place, great host. - One of the most spectacularly positioned places I've ever stayed. Incredible spot with around 270 degrees of water views. Just ridiculously pretty.
Hosts are wonderful with great local knowledge and open spirit.
My days were booked up with hiking and adventures but I'd love to return and take advantage of the yoga classes and just spend some down time. A real treat. The fireplace was wonderful and shared spaces beautifully well equipped and appointed. You'll want for nothing.
I found this location absolutely perfect as a jumping off point for many of the destinations I had planned to explore in Southern Tas, and a welcome respite at the end of those days. Just wonderful. You can even catch the aurora! Be very careful arriving or returning after dusk, the entire stretch from Kettering to Tranquil Point is completely awash with macropods. Certainly won't make me hesitate to return but worth knowing.
- Glen (9/5): The name speaks for itself - Definitely a tranquil & quiet area to stay in, and get away from it all - There had been a bit of a booking double-up, but the host had it all sorted out before we arrived there, and had arranged for us to stay in a near-by property, so no stress or issue for us at all. So whilst I cannot write a review for the original accommodation at tranquil point itself, the alternate he arranged for us was really nice, and definitely met our needs/expectations. The host at tranquil point was friendly and helpful, as were those at the alternate property. A great experience all around, and would stay again.
- Wendy (10/5): Exceptional -
- John (10/5): - A beautiful location with a magic view, and lots of birds and larger animals.
Not for everyone, though, as many will miss their TV and air conditioner.
But for the nature lover, a great place to unwind and relax.
- Tony (3/5): Unsatisfactory. And it was more than for any other comparable place we have booked for this trip - Breakfast? Not offered other than “there’s tea coffee etc in the pantry”.
Location was indeed “tranquil”
That’s about it. No heating in the bedroom. Freezing cold night. Was OK once in bed but couldn’t sit in the room. Fire in the lounge room but we did not wish to socialise with other guests.
Would be no cooling either in summer.
Worst part is the floor above cracked and squeaked whenever the guests walked on it during the night (which happened a few times). Our sleep was interrupted.
No TV although admittedly it was not listed as being available. Expect it to be available.
Security was dubious. Our host checked that a 2nd entry to our bathroom was locked and I watched him do so. Later I found it unlocked and slightly ajar and we did not unlock it. Who did?
- Brad (10/5): Great host very accomodating and amazing location. - Great location Shower water pressure was low.
- Janet (7/5): Interesting - We supplied our own breakfast Our bed in the Oak room was very firm, and movement caused it to creak .Squeaky floorboards upstairs and downstairs. We knew when our fellow guest was moving around!
- Travler (4/5): Disappointing -
- Raymond (8/5): Very nice spot that satisfied our needs. - Lovely setting. Nothing really.
- Kate (8/5): Very good - Stunning location , very friendly hosts. A real opportunity to slow down and relax. Shared bathroom is hard when used to your own, but overall not a huge deal.
- Anita (10/5): A spectacular property and a very relaxing environment - The location was spectacular, and Ben, our host, was really lovely and welcoming and couldn’t do enough for us. He even offered us his car! N/A
- Robati (10/5): Exceptional -
- Darren (10/5): Exceptional -
- Lachaine (10/5): Exceptional -
- Ziji (8/5): A lovey out of the way place, wonderful location and facilities and a huge kitchen and pantry for a family group. - Gorgeous location, fantastic kitchen, lovely drinking water, roomy and spacious common areas, great host willing to help, excellent yoga room and yoga class. The variety of Tasmanian timber used for the beds was a wonderful celebration of the place. We didn’t get to use the fire pit but that would have been memorable on a cold and windy night. Mattress was hard; noise from guests using the upstairs toilet during the night and early morning was very disturbing, dropping things on the bathroom floor and flushing. The shower in the ensuite did not have a place to sit soap, body wash or shampoo so that had to be put on shower cubicle floor. Noise problem hard to fix as depends on the upstairs guests, maybe a bathroom carpet might help or provide downstairs with ear plugs. The downstairs ensuite shower is cheaply and easily remedied, even just with shelves held by suction cups. Same with the mattress - just buy a topper either of memory foam or polyester. The lack of those comforts seemed particularly thoughtless to me given everything else had been so beautifully prepared.
- Paul (9/5): Beautiful Spot - We had a great stay at Tranquil Point. Ben had some good recommendations for us to do nearby and it was also nice to enjoy the well appointed kitchen and lounge with nice views over the water.
- Booth (9/5): Superb -
- Sangmin (7/5): Good -
- Kang (10/5): Tranquil Point is a welcoming place, and the quiet natural surroundings are a gift. - At Tranquil Point we felt truly welcome. It's a wonderful place to relax while you take in the surrounding air and light. The homestead is delightfully furnished, and there's a very well curated collection of books to enjoy. That's if you can tear yourself away from simply walking on the property with its orchard and food garden, its tall native trees, the water lapping the shores, the birdlife, and the resident wallaby or two. The whole place seems to cast a spell of serenity over the visitor.
- Maxim (10/5): pleasantly surprised - Very pretty location and a delight to discover. Good value and service. Nothing
- Jack (10/5): - Lives up to the name- a very tranquil spot. Retreat-like guesthouse with beautiful gardens, 2x river views, comfortable and quiet interior. Furnishings organic and earthy, very tasteful. Enjoyed my stay some much I booked another night. Will return!!
- Ann (8/5): - Amazing views and peaceful surroundings. The room was comfortable and clean and had access to a shared space which had a functional kitchen and living space.
- Jess (10/5): - Tranquil Point offers beautiful surroundings to relax and take a moment to reflect on your travels. We enjoyed the peace and quiet. Next visit will be more than one day. Thank you.
- Dian (8/5): enjoyable - location owner the bed was a bit low to the ground when you are a bit on the old side
- Paul (10/5): - Ben was an excellent host and the accommodation was very affordable for the location and facilities. Would definitely stay there again.
- Robyn (10/5): Exceptional -
- Rebecca (10/5): awesome - gorgeous location, so relaxing, room was adorable.staff lovely nothing really
- Barry (10/5): Exceptional - Beautiful quiet spot. Loved arriving to warm fire on a wet cool afternoon. First time staying in a retreat/guest house. Bed was actually a bit low to floor but still comfortable.
- Allan (10/5): Peaceful and fortunate to have stayed. - The accommodation was lovely. I like the simplicity and set up of it.
I could have my own space or engage with others if wanted.
It was great to have access to so much storage space for food - cupboards and fridges.
Access to some great books also.
Absolutely stunning property where I was able to chill out admiring some lovely sunsets and the night sky.
The place has a really peaceful and serene aspect to it.
Darras welcoming was friendly and helpful.
I was fortunate enough to be introduced to bikram yoga and had some great experiences.
I enjoyed being able to access such a large property to pick a spot on and sit beneath some trees and enjoy the space.
It was also really nice to be able to have a dip in the water.
Thankyou - truly grounding place which added value to my time in Tasmania.
- Leonie (10/5): Exceptional -
- Bliss (8/5): Very good - Ben is a delightful host - So hospitable. Tranquil point is an amazing location. Incredible. The bed is quite uncomfortable
- Bruce (10/5): - Great host, beauty of the setting
- Cooper (10/5): Exceptional -
- Eileen (10/5): Exceptional - Very welcoming and a lovely situation
- Raymond (10/5): - Peace and quiet, at one with nature. Animals abound! A unique share-house facility with full kitchen ammenities … plus home-grown veggies! I suspect fresh fish (but never cast a line).
The point is … the point is … The Point Is Tranquil.
- Yve (8/5): Great property, met some lovely people. - As the name says - very Tranquil!!
Beautiful property on the water with gorgeous views.
Ben was a great host, nothing too much trouble, welcomed us on arrival showed us around, and made us feel right at home. We were even allowed to pick fresh Veggies for dinner from Bens wonderful garden. Fabulous! No mosquito screen in the Huon pine room where we stayed:( like my fresh air- especially on warm nights; so had to cop a few mozzie bites😫however most other areas in the house were screened, which was great.
Absolutely no toiletries supplied so make sure you have your own.
Fine with that, I always have my own -but I do think any share situation bathroom/Host should supply ‘Handwash’ or soap, very important after the whole Covid thing. Lucky we had some to keep in the bathroom during our stay, you can’t remember to take soap into the bathroom everytime you need to go!!!
- Sue-anne (10/5): The highlight of our travels - An amazing property, a great place to unwind and relax. We swam off the beach on the property and enjoyed the company of the other guests.
- Keith (7/5): Good - Liked the exterior environs and quiet location. The very small bedroom with mattress so low that it was effectively on the floor.
- Cathy (10/5): - Ben is an extremely friendly and hospitable host. His accommodation is set in a beautiful quiet and restful location. Rooms are very comfortable and the shared kitchen and dining areas are very well equipped. A fabulous find!
- Norma (9/5): made us feel home immediately. - Ben the owner warmly welcomed us and made us feel home. amazing location which deserves its name. I highly recommend this stay for people who wanna come home to a really quiet and relaxing place. as it’s an old house, there is basically NO noise protection and you hear really everything though all guests were very cautious to be quiet.
- Cheryl (8/5): A true piece of paradise. - Magnificent location and very helpful owner.
- Richard (9/5): Superb -
- Mirela (4/5): Disappointing -
- Timothy (10/5): Tranquil! - Absolutely lovely. Ben and Sassy couldn't have been more welcoming. Clean room in a sweet homestead by the water, with a good kitchen and a cosy fire in the lounge for those cool tassie nights. Look out for the fairy wrens flitting about in the morning on the lawn. Cygnet has good facilities and fuel and is just a few Ks away. Ben runs a bikram studio on site if that's of interest to you, and there's a fire pit by the water for the evening.
- Caroline (7/5): Good -
- Cheekit (10/5): Exceptional -
- Stephen (7/5): Good -
- Meybohm-squirrell (10/5): Exceptional - Beautiful setting and fantastic accommodation. Tastefully and comfortably furnished. Large kitchen, extremely well equipped. Host was very welcoming and helpful. We loved the place!
- Tzani (10/5): Exceptional -
- Pontifex (10/5): Exceptional - Ben was a very friendly welcoming and accommodating host. The facilities were fantastic and the site just beautiful. Will definitely stay at tranquil point again when visiting the Huon valley. A short stay unfortunately for us this time but a very comfortable and enjoyable one.
- Katrina (8/5): Very good -
- Tahnee (10/5): I would stay here over and over again. I just loved it. A wonderful part of Tassie. - It was beautiful and peaceful. A lovely roaring wood fire to keep you toasty and warm. Ben was so very accomodating going above and beyond to help me, due to some changes in my plans. Property was clean with all that you need.
- Timothy (8/5): Very good - stunning location, and once the fire had been lit and giving a little time, it warmed the whole place up beautifully.
- Jen (5/5): Passable - Beautiful and clean place. Ben is helpful and carried our bags up to the room for us. No internet. Noisy at night. No coffee provided.
- Pat (8/5): - The view over the bay is amazing.
- Irene (10/5): - Tranquility Point lived up to its name. We had a lovely stay. Our room (Oak) was great. We were on our own the first night so we had everything to ourselves. The next night there was another guest. We had a relaxing night around the fire. Ben is a great host who made us feel very comfortable and welcome. He even gave us some of the fresh produce from the property. I did the Bikram Yoga class with Ben in the morning.
- Sheryl (10/5): - A very quiet, country retreat, nestled in a lovely setting with water on both sides.
- Chris (10/5): Beautiful, quiet location with great host. - Beautiful location at tip of small point. Looks over water. Share facilities. We were able to use the kitchen to cook our dinner - very good kitchen that was well equipped. Host is delightful & very helpful. He lit a fire for us as the day had been cold & drizzley.
Lounge & dining areas very comfortable. Would recommend this place & we would definitely stay again.
