Guest Reviews
- Luiz (8/5): - Local razoável para dormir
- Mark (3/5): -
- Guest (7/5): -
- Guest (6/5): Definitely overpriced. We stayed at much higher end places on our trip which were all priced lower - I didn’t know there was breakfast, I don’t think there was. Location was nice The room was definitely clean. The owners were very nice. But the room seemed old and worn, bed not comfortable. Shower door in disrepair. It was a very old facility that needed updating. Electrical outlets looked overloaded maybe not safe
- Guest (10/5): - Basic room, good value, clean and quiet.
Owner/ manager very helpful and courteous No complaints
- Nicholas (8/5): Very good -
- Carly (7/5): Good -
- Isa (1/5): Bad -
- Robert (10/5): Excellent country motel - will return - I got exactly what I expected for a $100 country motel. It was clean and everything was in working order. The desk clerk showed me the room before I checked in and everything was to my satisfaction. I will stay here on my next trip to the area. The price was excellent. It appears some other reviewers expected a luxury hotel experience and this is a country motel experience.
- Michael (8/5): Very good -
- Bruce (6/5): Spent one night and that was enough. Sorry. - Hotel is old and needs a lot of help. Front office was not inviting and smelled bad. Room was clean but dirty ashtrays outside the doors was not pleasant.
- Laura (1/5): Avoid - Location No hot water and not clean
- Andrea (3/5): Not a chain hotel. Not worth $200 per night. - Private setting- no common hallways with a seating area outside the door. Price
- Steve (9/5): Superb -
- Andrew (7/5): As a solo traveler staying for one night to attend a local music festival, Elm Tree Motel was fine. - Friendly, accommodating proprietor. Good location for attractions in the middle Hudson Valley. Comfortable room. Room has a fridge and plenty of space. No internet in rooms. Not a huge problem for me because I spent little time in the room, but this would be a big issue for someone traveling for work. Normally in a situation like this I would resort to using a hot spot, but the local Verizon signal is exceptionally weak. Again, not a big problem in my particular circumstances. The proprietor's advice was to sit on a bench near the motel office, where the internet connection works. Fine for an emergency, but far from ideal.
- David (6/5): Quiet and comfortable, seriously overpriced. - Quiet and comfortable. Extremely overpriced (that said, most accommodation in the area is extremely overpriced). There is nothing wrong with the place. It is simple and quiet, what you would expect from a budget motel, except that it is not a budget motel.
- Nicholas (5/5): Passable - The room was nice and clean . surprised there was daily maid service. Bathroom could have been bigger, shower door did close all the way, could have used a clothes draw.
The biggest disappointment was trying to find the motel after dark, the sign was not lite up.
- Jeremy (1/5): Stay in a low-quality budget room, but pay luxury prices for it! - The only thing good about this hotel was that it was about a four-minute drive from my friend's house, where a large group of us met up for the weekend. That's all. It was close to someone's house. But now that I know what the property is like, I will NEVER stay here again — next time we visit, we'll go down the road to Hillsdale. It'll be a seven minute longer drive to/from our friend's house, but we'll have everything a hotel should have (unlike the Elm Tree Motel, which has nothing). When you pay $200 a night after tax, you expect to stay in something high-end. But not at the Elm Tree Motel!
No wifi.
No coffee.
The fridge makes a loud shrieking sound that is impossible to sleep through, so I had to unplug the fridge to sleep. Which means I had to throw away the perishable food I had planned to keep.
The air conditioner has one volume, and that is DEAFENINGLY LOUD. So I can either try to sleep in a hot room, or sleep in a room with a screeching AC fan. (Spoiler alert: It is in the middle of the night and I cannot sleep no matter what.)
NO WIFI!
NO COFFEE!
For $200 a night?? This is a RIP OFF.
Stay away from this place, go ANYWHERE else!
- Leland (8/5): It was good - Location Light the sign up better
- Margaret (5/5): Passable - The bed was comfortable. The room was clean. I didn't like that it was not possible to open the windows to get fresh air late at night without contacting the owner. The window sills and drop box were dirty but the room was clean.
- Kmccmedia (8/5): A clean comfortable room in a remote area, for a decent price, when I needed it. - Very good communication from the proprietor about my late arrival. She accommodated my need to arrive past check-in and was clear on the details of how I would gain access to my room. It was dark on the road and the sign wasn't lit, so it was a bit difficult to spot the property.
- Mary (9/5): Superb -
- Flannigan (3/5): Poor -
- Robert (1/5): After this place I can’t trust booking.com’s recommendations again. - Near where I needed to be This is a dilapidated 1940’s motel. That should not be on a reputable web site. This place was so disappointing that after the event I needed to attend, we drove back to the motel got our suitcase and drove 2.5 hours home at 11pm.
- Abraham (7/5): Good -
- Mary (8/5): Shower needed to be replaced - None Coffee available
- Asima (5/5): Passable place for a pass through stay. - It fit our need for a one night stay. It was fairly clean. One room we rented had ants coming out of the sink and shower drains. One room was musty smelling. Not much storage in the bathroom. Fridge and TV didn't work well in one room.
- Peter (7/5): Convenient location, friendly staff - Friendly staff Little more updated ammenities
- Marc (6/5): Pleasant -
- Gantos (1/5): Avoid this motel. Do not think I am exaggerating. - no breakfast. No coffee maker. The photo of the room shown on the website was not the room I received. I had paid more for the room I chose on the website and did not receive a refund for the difference. One of the door locks was broken. The toilet ran and ran. Hot water was slow to arrive. The TV had no major channels--just ads and oldies. No news. I will dispute this payment with AMEX. There was nothing to like except the gas station across the street served coffee--and their staff was nice.
- Metall (8/5): Very quiet and relaxing. Friendly and kind people. - The owners are very nice. Unfortunately, I didn't realize on time that there was no Internet and the stores in the neighborhood close pretty early, such as Staples...
- Michael (9/5): Superb -
- Dwight (8/5): Beautiful countryside - Very good communication late inquiry was acommodated with a smile. She even pre-heated the room given it was a cold night. Shower was minimal.
- Nicole (10/5): Exceptional - Friendly staff. Lily was very helpful. Cozy accommodations. The heat worked so well.
- Philip (10/5): Exceptional - Been going their for years and I won't stay anywhere else in the area. Owner very accommodating and is very professional in hospitality. Highly recommend for anyone or family traveling in the area. That my "ME" time was limited and had to go back to reality "WORK"!
- Marc (10/5): Exceptional - Need better TV service .... hardly any channels
- Constantine (6/5): Pleasant -
- Anonymous (8/5): Good value and clean! Very simple. DON’T let them charge you additional taxes/fees. Booking says “taxes and fees inc - Good price compared to surrounding options. Clean. Good location. That they tried to charge me $50+ of taxes/fees after booking said “taxes and fees included”. They blamed booking but they admitted they knew exactly what booking says to us and so it was unethical to charge us more. If they have a problem with booking they should take it up with them instead of making their guests pay the consequences.
- Frank (5/5): efficient and did the job for us. - I liked the very helpful proactive woman in charge of checking us in. I liked the new flooring in the room. The location was excellent. The view from the parking lot was good. The renovations in the room were slapdash. lots of dripping paint marks in colorful bathroom. The door lock was weak and the key hard to get into slot. The chain on door seemed poorly installed. I don't think there was any coffee in the room. The bed was good enough but not super comfortable.
- Moon (1/5): Bad - Nothing They tried to charge us for a full extra night due to a late check out. Very dishonest people. Stay away.
- Karen (9/5): Great for a stopover en route. - Everything you need for stay on road trip. Clean freshly painted. Plus microwave and refrigerator. Needs better lighting on entrance. It was hard to spot at night.
- John (10/5): lovely helpful owners very comfortable - Had everything for a good price…walk in shower fridge microwave nothing
- Michael (2/5): Very poor -
- Phillip (10/5): Exceptional -
- William (3/5): It was very expensive for what it was - It was 15 minutes from my destination The shower had someone's old used bar of soap still stuck to shelf, behind the bathroom faucet was dirty, the shower door wouldn't stay closed, took about 5 minutes to get hot water in shower, had to choose between air conditioner and refrigerator because they were located at the same outlet, other people's hair in the bed, and the pillows underneath the pillow cases were gross could be seen from pillow case opening
- Anonymous (4/5): It was better than sleeping outside. - It was shelter
Good location Stains on the sheets
- Merrill (3/5): Poor -
- Robert (10/5): Welcoming hostess. Very clean. Definitely recommend. We will stay again. - This little place is cute and very clean! The bed was extremely comfortable. We slept well. Lily is very warm & welcoming. We will definitely stay again! We stayed the weekend of July 4th and there were a few fireworks that initially woke us up but wasn't an issue when we realized what it was.
- Joseph (4/5): Disappointing - Room clean and bed comfortable Could at least have coffee on room. For the price that’s the least that can be done.
- Karolina (8/5): Very good -
- Kirsty (8/5): Very good -
- Mikaela (5/5): Our stay was sub par. Room could use updating and more cleaning. - Location The room could use updating. Bathroom was really small. Could use a new toilet. Towels were super rough like sandpaper. Floor was dirty.
- Gloria (5/5): Passable - Overpriced ! $150 for a small room with 1 bed, old tv, bad shampoo, dark. Needs updating. Also, Booking.com said that our total cost if what we would pay would be $150. Not true. It was $167.
- Lorraine (8/5): For our needs the Elm Tree Motel was fine. It was clean and the sign in fast and easy. - Internet. TV Channel Guide.
- William (1/5): Bad - Double not queen bed. Noisy a/c. Tiny bathroom with toilet too close to 2 walls. Good thing I'm a small person. A real dump. Not worth the price.
- Alicyp (3/5): bad - Location The beds are so old, not comfy, and creaked. A/C is old and noisy. We didn't sleep almost all night.
Expensive for this room.
- Gideon (9/5): Nice area, friendly proprieter, clean. - I like talking with the proprietor, I liked that you could take a walk off side roads off route 11 nearby.
- Vicki (5/5): For the rate charged, this was definitely NOT a place I would stay again. - The woman at the front desk was exceptionally friendly a/c barely worked, worn out rooms, dirty toilet (on the outside), hair in shower, worn out towels, fly swatter and old broom in clothes closet
