Guest Reviews
- Henderson (10/5): - Room was great, roll top bath bed really comfy everybody really friendly, can't fault the place. We will be going back, food was some of the best I've ever had and I've been all over the world
- Emily (9/5): -
- Alice (6/5): Was a nice stay, could be improved as the facilities had potential. Cleaning needs work. - It was good that the room came with breakfast. Maybe continental option, or veggie / allergy friendly. This wasn’t asked or suggested at all. Cleaning could be improved on, especially in room. Bed linen and towels were fine. We did find a lot of dust in room, and rubbish.
No baby changing / disabled loo or facilities.
- LEE (9/5): Wonderful pub with fantastic food and a great atmosphere. - Fantastic pub. Food was amazing, staff friendly and the beer was great. Our room was large, quiet and had many nice little touches to make it feel like home. A bath and a separate shower was a nice unexpected bonus. My sons put me up bed had a few springs missing so he found it a bit uncomfortable but the main bed was very comfortable.
- Naomi (9/5): -
- slade (8/5): - Good choice for breakfast and very friendly staff
- Amanda (10/5): -
- Tom (9/5): All 8 of us absolutely loved it, friendly staff with fantastic rooms and good food, will stay again! - 8 of my family members stayed in a total of 5 rooms and we loved the decor and How nice the beds were, very happy with the rooms they looked and felt fantastic 8 of my family members had dinner one night in the restraunt, we thought the prices for the food on the menu were fine but the portion sizes on some of the dishes were very very small for the price
- Scrivener (9/5): -
- Charles (10/5): - great place
- Allison (10/5): - We have stayed at the Redan several times in the last few months and look forward to continuing to stay there when in the area. We also regularly pop in for a coffee or lunch even if we are not staying over. The rooms are a good size and clean with interesting decor that adds to the character of the place. The food (including breakfast) is excellent; good choice of beer, wine and spirits; great atmosphere. Perhaps most importantly, the staff are friendly and welcoming and maintain good humour whatever the time of day and however busy they are. Highly recommend. -

Good location to spread out & see lots of places Nothing all good
- Glenys (10/5): Absolutely brilliant. Can thoroughly recommend. - Everything. Staff were excellent and the Inn had a lovely happy atmosphere. We couldn't fault anything. Thank you. Possibly directions. We aren't from that area and found difficulty in finding it.
- Steph (10/5): -
- Christopher (8/5): - Breakfast was very good - wide choice + good quality
- Cat (8/5): Convenient and relaxing. We will happily stay again - The range of food was excellent although a tad expensive for fairly small portions and the bed was super comfortable The bathroom smelt a little of drains which made the whole room smell a little, but we opened the window

- Daniel (9/5): Super cute Inn with delicious food and comfy room. - The room was really lovely, great decor and very comfy. We loved it!
Dinner in the pub was excellent.
Simon, the manager, gave us a recommendation for a walk to his favourite place in the world. And it was incredible. Now one of ours as well! The grout in the shower could do with a good clean.
But everything else was clean and fantastic. We would definitely stay again.
- Cecilia (8/5): Ideal, Thank you. -
- Samantha (8/5): Great stay good value - Nice clean and comfortable room. Lovely breakfast and very good value The shower in our room was not fully working. It was not very powerful.
- Sandi (4/5): Fair but won’t be returning. - Location Distinctly average, bathroom shower was very grubby around the edges… needed elbow grease and attention to detail.
- Nicole (7/5): Comfortable cosy mini stay - Lovely little Inn. Loved the room and the staff and food were amazing. The shower sprayed out the way rather than down which wasn't ideal but I will definitely be back :) The shower
- Wendy (10/5): -
- Dawn (9/5): Very pleasant. - Clean and comfortable The nooks and crannies in the bathroom were overlooked by the cleaning staff.

- Platt (4/5): -
- Howard (7/5): Its location was absolutly perfect for our needs. - Cleanliness of our room and friendly welcome.

- Go Projects Limited (10/5): Great I will be staying here again - Modern refurbished rooms, comfortable bed, restaurant on site with great breakfast choices. Lively atmosphere My only comment is that breakfast starts from 8 am which is a little later than I would have hoped for, having said that, it was great quality and worth waiting for

- Becky (8/5): Not exactly what we expected but that didn’t stop us enjoying our stay. Would definitely come back. - Breakfast was amazing. Room was spotless. Very comfortable bed. Friendly owners. Room was very small not like the photos on the website. Bar area was also very cold same at breakfast.
- Mark (8/5): - Nice decor, great food and lovely staff No hanging space in room - otherwise great!
- thomas (9/5): -
- Kristy (5/5): Comfortable but need a new cleaner! - It was a really nice room, well decorated with interesting furniture. Sadly the bathroom was not clean. The bin lid was filthy, hairs all over the bathroom, shower was mouldy with deep grime on the tiles. I soaked the bin lid in the sink with hot water and it came clean, easily done.! This was a nice place but the cleanliness let it down. The food was very nice and reasonably priced.
The staff were pleasent and welcoming.
- Francesca (10/5): -
- Paul (8/5): Would use again 100% - Staff were friendly and very helpful, food in the restaurant was delicious and reasonably priced.
- Nadine (10/5): -
- GERALD (1/5): More shabby than shabby chic. - Poor. OK.
- George (7/5): The accommodation served it's purpose, as a stop halfway on our journey. - Breakfast was a change from the usual and very tasty and nutritious.
Location was fine, although occasional traffic noise. Room was small with no storage or proper windows (just dormers). Also rather hot as on second floor.
- Torquil (8/5): Accommodation excellent, breakfast excellent, burger poor. - Excellent room. Excellent breakfast The food in the evening. I had a burger it was under cooked and very short on chips for the price
- Felicity (10/5): -
- Michael (8/5): -
- Nuala (6/5): - good heating...xmas day breakfast in room
cold
- Emma (9/5): Lovely Country pub with great staff and facilities and lovely food, Ideal for a short stay!! - The Premises, Staff, Location and food where all Superb. The Wifi Signal was poor (Room 6) Not end of the world for me on a one Night stay but if i had to stay longer for work it would be an issue.
- Phil (10/5): Fantastic accommodation and staff, you’d do well to find a more welcoming and enjoyable place to stay - Great location, friendly and welcoming staff - will definitely recommend to others
- Diane (10/5): Perfect place to stay to visit family the next day - Breakfast was lovely
- Willis (9/5): Very nice and great value - Staff were great and the room was fantastic
- Crispin (10/5): -
- Michal (9/5): - Lovely spacious room, very warm considering the cold outside Noisy neighbours from other rooms
- Lucia (10/5): Lovely stay in a wonderful environment 😊 - The pub is lovely and well furnished. We were in the standard room; the bed was very comfortable, great shower, we had all we needed. The staff are very friendly, always smiling even when working very hard (New Year’s Eve was packed!). Fantastic breakfast! Very few little problems were promptly and kindly solved by the staff.
- Charlotte (7/5): -
- NW01 (9/5): Great weekend getaway - All the rooms were lovely and cleaned daily which I wasn't expecting so that was a nice surprise. All the staff were very warm and welcoming. It was further away from Longleat safari park than I expected. 30min drive.
Need a plug under the mirror for hairstylers
- Alexander Peter (7/5): Good village pub with rooms. - Welcoming host, good beer, very good steak and chips, adequate car parking, very comfortable bed. Modern bathroom with shower etc, clean. Nice warm radiators on my arrival, off st night. Convenient for my purpose. Firstly it’s on a surprisingly busy road. All night traffic noise, some of it very loud. I noted that it’s taking diverted traffic which may in the end be a temporary problem, but be warned. My room windows not double glazed. So despite the comfy bed I didn’t sleep that well.
Secondly, the pub is a proper ‘spit& sawdust’ outfit, very busy with locals snd droppers in, very noisy downstairs and at closing time. Not in itself enough to put you off, that’s pubs for you, but there’s not much comfort in the bar. Some of the tables have banquettes, but elsewhere hard wooden chairs which on closer inspection may have once have been in a church. There’s a separate dining room which I didn’t investigate snd a very large partially tented patio for smokers. Also outside seating on a terraced area.
- Alan (8/5): -
- Gary (10/5): We will return next Christmas - Cosy and warm and friendly . Great host and staff work so hard. Excellent breakfast. Nothing
- Ralaa (10/5): - Very clean and cosy room. The staff where very gentle and helpful and the food delicious 😋 😊
- Mark (8/5): -
- Karen (10/5): Excellent base when travelling into Bath city. - Ideal central location while visiting family and going into Bath. Free on site parking.
Rooms are large, airy and clean.
Breakfast was cooked fresh, and served lovely and hot. Good choice of coffee or tea if preferred.
Staff were attentive, a very enjoyable stay!
- Angela (9/5): - Very friendly staff and helpful, lovely and clean room, everything in there that you need. The only downside is if you have mobility problems the stairs are steep and narrow.
- Matt (10/5): -
- Sean (9/5): -
- Gillian (9/5): value for money. I would stop here again. - Good food, at a fair price. Room was a good size, clean, in a good place to visit my Auntie, and go into Bath, I always park my car at the ring and ride. The room above me was not very considerate and I was awake from 3am on and off, it sounded like thay were moving furniture.
- Dana (10/5): Amazing stay - I’d stay again!! - Room was incredibly spacious and included an amazing bathtub! A little mini fridge would be great in the room.
- Kate (10/5): -
- Katherine (10/5): -
- Sophia (10/5): - Exceptional friendly staff, very helpful. Room was big, lovely decorated, had comfy bed. Food at the premises was great and very tasty breakfast.
- Sara (8/5): Lovely cosy country inn in a gorgeous location. - Lovely clean, cosy, nicely decorated room with gorgeous bathroom and toiletries. 10/10
Really helpful in allowing my partner to access our room early on the Saturday: grateful for this.
Delicious gluten free haddock and chips for dinner, swiftly served. Noisy patrons in the corridor after the bar closed. Appreciate that the behaviour of others is out with the control of the hotel, but just to note.
Breakfast was slow. 40 minutes after going down to eat, we hadn’t had food served other than coffee. Perhaps we should have gone downstairs earlier, but as speed of service hadn’t been an issue at dinner, when the restaurant was just as busy, we didn’t imagine it would be an issue. The manager did offer to try to get our meal, but we had a time by which we had to leave, and we were unable to wait any longer.
- Richard (10/5): - Excellent breakfast cuisine. Comfortable and tasteful room with high quality toiletries and a refreshing change to have fresh milk for hot drinks. Friendly owner of lovely inn.
- Waters (8/5): Apart from the above, it was pleasant - thank you. - Breakfast was fine though the teapot lids need some attention - seals missing or bent. Guests parading firearms through the bar area while we were eating. There was only one chap (Japanese) who had the discretion to carry his weapon outside via the back exit. Living through terrorist activity in London and experiencing IRA activity in the Irish Republic, the sight of firearms covered or not sends shivers up the spine! Please be more strict on the type of persons you allow to bring weapons onto your property. The room curtains did not have stop-checks on the rail, as we found when we opened them and they ended up on the floor! Sorry, forgot to mention.
- Myriam (10/5): À recommander ! - Tout ! L accueil , le petit déjeuner complet à la carte , la chambre , la propreté … Rien
- Philipp H (9/5): -
- Kathryn (8/5): Lovely stay, great value for money! - Lovely room on the top floor with large bed and bathroom. Fantastic breakfast in the morning! No mattress in the travel cot, shower drain flooded.

- Joseph (9/5): Comfortable stay in a cozy room, with a lovely breakfast - Very comfortable and well furnished room in a lovely pub. Very friendly staff and the included breakfast made it great value for money
- Glyn (10/5): Beautiful pub and hotel in a picturesque village, will definitely come again. - We had an amazing breakfast, mine was poached eggs on sourdough bread and my partner had a full English.Quality was excellent . Our room was above the music venue and as we had had a busy day was wanting to go to sleep early but music was very loud.
- john (9/5): -
- Hayley (10/5): - An absolutely beautiful place. Very clean and bed was really comfortable. Staff were lovely and friendly. Breakfast was lovely, and I would highly recommend dining in the restaurant for an evening meal, food was exceptional. Will be staying again. Nothing
