Guest Reviews
- Paul (7/5): A decent place to stay - Close to where I needed to be. Quiet. WiFi was decent. Full size dresser. Nice to walk around the property. No Television or microwave in the room and no television in the common area. No private bathroom. No comfortable chair/sofa in room to sit in, only 1 folding chair at the table. ABSOLUTELY NO USB PORTS ANYWHERE.
- Michael (8/5): Comfortable, Rustic, shabby chic with artistic warmth. Loved both stays ! - I love this place. Its a bit eccentric (in the most positive sense). Rustic and great value.
The owners really try to give the place over to the renter which I have really appreciated.
The rooms are very nice, very large with lots of light and beds very comfortable.
The wood pellet stove creates a really nice space for the morning. I like that have a guest fridge, very nice coffee station,
and ability to use kitchen. This was my second stay and definoitely will be back, Really nothing ............ Tiny thing I didnt realize the room would warm up with the door closed not open ....... ;)
- Louis (6/5): - La chambre est bien, lit confortable salle de bain loin, isolation au bruit des murs minimale
- Alice G (10/5): Cozy stay after a Sunday River ski day - This stay was soooo cozy! The house was used as a cafe, that is now shut down (maybe temporarily not sure), so the space is big and really have that warm, welcoming energy. The room is upstairs and quite simple and comfortable. The kitchen is huge if you need to cook. Would totally come back here to stay if I ski Sunday River again soon!
- Paul (9/5): Quaint, comfortable, and chill. - I enjoyed how chill the vibe was. Rina greeted me as soon as I walked in and showed me around the building. She was available to answer any questions. It was a cool stay that was about 25 minutes from Sunday River. I would have appreciated having the room already warmed up prior to my arrival. Other than that I very much enjoyed my stay.
- Mark Novotny (7/5): - Bedroom was comfortable but the bathroom was through 3 rooms across the house. The water in the bathroom had a rust smell which was not pleasant. No one was at the property the whole time we were there except a gentleman that lived in another building and he did say if we needed anything to contact him.
- Shant (6/5): -
- Denai (4/5): Defiantly the most odd please I’ve ever stayed. - The price was low This place was not comfortable at all. The bed was so creaky and super uncomfortable and the place was full of flies. The bathroom was large yet cluttered with items and a laundry area. The people I spoke to were less than accommodating. Definitely not a place I would stay again or recommend it.
- Sonne (8/5): - Nice open area to relax in . Distance to bathroom at night
- Nichole (6/5): - Hmm. Much more bad than good. I didn't hate it, but I don't know if I'll book again. I *definitely * wouldn't suggest this place to someone who expects a clean establishment.
This property would be more correctly labeled a "hostel". But not even? The other guests I encountered were long-term lodgers doing work-for-stay at the farm. The shared bathroom looks like it hasn't been properly cleaned in ages. The "toiletries " provided appear to be the owner's personal items, half used and sitting in dirty dishes/containers. The water is not filtered, smells of sulfur, and doesn't come out clear. I took a shower the first night and felt more dirty afterward. I didn't take any more showers. I had to search for a fly swatter bc my room was infested and I never saw an employee. I killed over a dozen each night. The "coffee station" was, again, dirty, and I wouldn't trust the water anyways.
The bed was comfy and the sheets were clean. Wifi worked. No noise issues. Easy to find and good access to much recreation.
If you know what you're in for, it's not terrible. It's better than sleeping on the ground.
I'm not afraid of a little grit. I have stayed in more than a few questionable places, as I prefer local charm over corporations.
The hardest part for me is the water. I hike and I get dirty. My only two "MUSTS" are a comfy bed and a decent shower. Not feeling safe to shower really put a damper on my trip.
- MEI LING (8/5): Cozy, clean, alternative. - It’s a different experience if you’re used to Airbnb’s & hotels, it’s a small working farm in a beautiful area. Super cozy, thoughtful details, relaxed environment. Very clean. You’re staying at someone’s house but you still have privacy in your room and a code locking door. Owners were very accommodating to a last minute one-night stay and my challenging non-US credit card. Only one shared bathroom (toilet & shower) and it’s located on the opposite side of the house, through a storefront/gift shop as well as a lobby area. This may not meet everyone’s personal bathroom habits/ needs.
- Ann (4/5): We almost left but it was late in the day and at least the bedroom and bathroom were clean. - Not much. Rundown older property The bathroom was far from the bedroom. Uneven floors cluttered spaces. The owner wasn’t present.
- Kathleen (8/5): -
- Irene Ribeiro (8/5): - The owners were not available to greet me. I self checked in and felt a bit unsafe having to am to the communal bathroom in the middle of the night.
- Josey (10/5): Middle of absolutely nowhere - Perfect in the middle of nowhere where I had to be at the time. Daughter was so kind in the morning after and offered us coffee. The place was full of character. If I ever happen to be up that way again I'd love to stay if one of their 2 rooms are available. Bed was hard, and room was hot
- Jerald (10/5): Exceptional -
- Michael (8/5): Unique , value - Really cute place, family owned, very respectful to give space and privacy. Was unfortunate rain storm, not their fault with some water issues but overall really liked stay. Very clean and unique. And ponies ;) Water but not their fault .... otherwise pleasant stay.
- Mawhinney (10/5): Exceptional -
- Jessica (8/5): Very good - Bed did sag in the middle, but beyond this everything was great.
- Sarah (9/5): Superb -
- MICHELE (10/5): - We enjoyed our stay at No View Farm. The room was clean and nice. We were able to get some chicken stew and raspberry jam at the farm-both were delicious. It was a bit like staying in someone's house with friendly and helpful relatives. We would stay there again if we were in the area.
- Rick (2/5): - This property had no one there when we check in or out. It smelled of mildew. The whole experience was very disorienting. But it was very cheap.
- Malinda (9/5): Superb - The staff were helpful. The big 4 poster bed was comfortable. The decor was charming. Annette served me some homemade chicken noodle soup. There was a noise like a generator that turned off and on.
- Tina (8/5): Adorable eclectic artist retreat! - This is a fun, eclectic place to stay. The bathroom is shared the household, but it was clean and spacious. The room was private and the host was awesome! It's a great place away from the commercial motel chains.
- Linda (6/5): - Indeed it was a unique spot and Annette couldn't have been nicer. The place is not for everyone, but if you like quirky and offbeat, you'll like No View. We did.
- Mike (1/5): Drive on dont stay. - Not much We thought it was a nice place with a nice and interesting name. Maybe their other products are good, but not the rooms! It’s filthy, uncomfortable and smelly. We book directly and when we arrived it was not what we expected, bedroom on one side of the house, you had to cross the kitchen on another level to go to the bathroom, cats and flies all over. We decided not to stay and asked for a refund to the person in charge. He told us he could not help us, and gave us the phone of the owner to whom we called many times without answer or at least a voice mail to leave a message. So we had to pay our stay at another hotel we found close by. Don’t stay here!
- Leigh (7/5): Good - Cute little farm. had a nice quick stay. Comfortable place to crash for the night.
- Crystal (9/5): Superb -
- Michael (10/5): Exceptional -
- Verified traveler (6/5): - The owner’s daughter who checked us in and showed us around was great.
However, there was considerable navigation to the shared washroom where we had to set up and remove a doorstop each and every time we used the loo. We are seniors and the other couple that night were even more elderly.
There were two major areas of tripping hazards between our rooms and the washroom. Let’s face it, we seniors need to go in the middle of the night and the lighting was minimal.
The word “Bakery” is part of the title of this accommodation but there is absolutely no meal/snack offered except Keirig coffee. We had expected a breakfast option. I reread the write up and couldn’t find anything that dispelled the notion of a bakery which would serve the guests.
Finally, if one wanted to crack a window the screens in our room allowed the multitude of bugs to penetrate.
It was a cool place in terms of décor.
- Glee (6/5): - The mattress was quite uncomfortable. No one was on the desk. The sole bathroom was at the far end of the guest bedrooms. No coffee or breakfast or even cups for water were provided. It is in a peaceful, bucolic setting, but we wouldn’t stay there again.
- Meredith (8/5): Very good -
- Amber (9/5): Peaceful stay on a beautiful garden filled farm! -
- Leslie E (10/5): - I was so happy to be in a safe place.
Ann & Reana are incredibly nice people.
Welalin.
- Brad (9/5): Superb -
- Gregory (8/5): A bit more eclectic than expected but good for a short stay. They do good work for the community. - Very nice folks. Nice rural area. Liked the ponies. Cut grass around door off room. Snakes live there, we know. By the time taxes etc added on it seems a bit pricey. No breakfast option.
- Walter (8/5): It was an interesting change of pace. - Breakfast wasn’t served. It was family friendly. The gift shop was fun to shop in. The staff was nice. The price was very reasonable. The gardens were nice. A tv in the room would have been nice, as well as a full length mirror
- Yancey (7/5): Good -
- Michael (10/5): - Owners were polite and courteous
Nice quiet place I slept for 10 hours
- Andrew (10/5): Exceptional -
- James (8/5): - Rusicness of it
- Cristen (6/5): - The young lady running the place was friendly and helpful. The driveway was treacherous for a motorcycle. It was a very strange place to stay. It looked as though random building materials were used to patch the place together. Very odd.
- Rebecca (9/5): The room was clean and met my needs - We did not have breakfast there I didn't realize the bathroom was so far from the room
- Amanda (9/5): Superb -
- johnathan (10/5): - Staff is very friendly, it's a good farm. Good tenants. If you won't a quiet night's sleep or a quiet night under the stars it that type of BnB. With a bonus bakery shop. I'm definitely coming back for some R&R..
- John (7/5): Good -
- Deborah (10/5): Looking forward to stopping by again on our return in November! - Loved our room door into the garden, especially the whip-poor-will concert under the full moon. Great, quiet rest after a long journey. Bakery was a real plus. Because of the baking prep for the Fair the next day, we missed the farm tour. Maybe in November.
- John (6/5): The stay was fine but the 'bed and breakfast' part felt like an afterthought. - The casual nature of the place, the quiet. The room was clean and cozy. The grounds could have been better maintained, needed more mowing.
I didn't like the shower and bathroom being separate from the room.
There's a lot going on here.
- Michael (8/5): Very good -
- Catherine (9/5): Interesting spot, great for couples - The staff were very kind. The atmosphere was quiet at night. The gift shop was unique and provided me with lots of ideas. Close to Bethel and ski area. Most have mentioned the travel to the bathroom, not a problem for us. Wish they still offered a breakfast.
- Michael (8/5): Staff is great, on a small farm & bakery on site!! Great no frills, country stay, comfortable clean rooms!! - Great spot, short drive to Sunday River!! Clean & cozy!
- Nancy (10/5): Perfect for my needs - It was a peaceful and quiet space. Great place to get work done at night… no distractions
- Lauretta (8/5): Homey Overnight 0 - Quiet. Friendly. Shared kitchen was convenient. Having a refrigerator in room was great.
- Michael (7/5): Good value and a really unique stay - Good value in a very unique setting that worked fine for a solo ski outing in the area. Friendly staff and a memorable stay.
Per the Booking.com questions:
What did you think of the breakfast? The listing describes it as a "bed and breakfast" and that guests can enjoy a meal at the restaurant. Maybe this is seasonal as there was no breakfast when I was there. Also, if meals were being served they had wrapped up by the time I'd typically return (between 5:30pm-6:30pm).
How was the location? About 8-9 miles from the town of Rumford. It didn't appear to be too many food options close by, so I'd suggest coming prepared.
- Steve (8/5): Very good -
- Kyla (8/5): - This is the perfect quiet and easy place to stay for a ski weekend away. The owner and is very friendly, welcoming and has a delicious bakery to buy treats.
- Duncan (10/5): - It was nice, don’t trust the reviews over 2 years old. I did and I was thankfully surprised that they weren’t true.
- Kathryn (10/5): Exceptional -
- Darren (8/5): Very good -
- Kathryn (10/5): So cute, great location, easy access - will definitely be returning! -
- Curtis (10/5): Big Sleep Farm - Comfort, convenient to the ski area, and priced right. Nice to enjoy my dinner in the public spaces. Nice room. Wonderful people.
- Geoffrey (10/5): - Cute place - right where I needed to stay
- Keith (6/5): Pleasant - Nice, friendly welcome. Handy if you have to stay in the region although I passed a motel a few miles south before arriving here and wished I had known about it beforehand. Old, worn out property and decor. The bathroom isn't private or even close to the bedrooms - it's located adjacent to the kitchen and requires a walk through the hall and public areas which feels uncomfortable even if the accommodation is not busy.
- Elsa (10/5): Warm, inviting, farmhouse/crystal/laid back vibes, we loved it! - It’s important people look through their photos and realize this is more like an inn or hostel, you have your own room and fridge but you share a kitchen and bathroom. Very farm house vibe, very relaxing and homey. It feels like the hufflepuff dorms. I adored it, and the woman working was so fun and funny and sweet. I wish there had been a mirror in my room but honestly that’s it.
- Todd (8/5): Very good -
- James (1/5): I was there maybe five minutes. Jumped in my car and left. I could not put my wife in such a place. - I took one look at this shack, got back in my car and headed for Augusta. How on earth could this place be rated three stars on priceline?
- Lisa (10/5): Exceptional -
- Rod (10/5): Exceptional -
- Lelia (8/5): - No View is a quirky, curious space, just the kind we love. The room was basic, but comfortable and secure. Daily fresh towels and linens. No TV, but tons of books for reading on the porch to watch the sunset.
There seemed to have been a break in communication, so we didn't get the breakfast (coffee and pastries) I expected from the Expedia site due to the host having a personal event to attend to. Another guest showed me where they had been informed, so I'm sure the host would have informed us, too, if your site had been more available.
- Lucy (7/5): Pleasant, owner was awesome, loved chatting with her. Great chocolate chip cookies!!! - Along our travel route. Great price. Clean.
Quaint spot. Bed was comfy. Took some adjusting to sharing a bathroom with others.
- Adaeze (5/5): Passable - The staff were very friendly. It was quiet and safe. The price for the room was very economical compared to other places in Maine at this time of year. The wifi worked great. It was a simple one night stay, and it met those expectations. I was very warm in my room. Also I thought the top jar in the room was a bit uncouth. My room was on the other side of the inn from the singular bathroom, so I had to walk past the main entrance and the coffee area to get back to my room after showering.
- Grue (6/5): clean room No one was there but spoke to the owner on phone . Very nice, pretty much honour system. -
- Ana (9/5): Superb -
- James (9/5): quiet, relaxing, and "homey" - left early for a long drive home. was nice, clean, home style atmosphere, and friendly staff and guests. had to leave early for long trip home
- Everett (10/5): More than expected - Everything. Staff was incredibly hospitable. The beds were so comfortable, more so than the standard run of the mill Hotel. It was flawless. One of the best places to stay in Maine on your journey hands down.
- Shelagh (10/5): Cozy and quiet stay with a friendly host. -
- Chris (10/5): Exceptional -
- Kirsten (8/5): Very good -
- Joe (10/5): Cute place to rest just outside of town. - This felt more like we were staying at an old friend's house than anything else. Was a cozy room with handmade quilts on the beds and everything decorated with wood trim. The common area was inviting and the little shop with handmade soaps and preserves was an excellent bonus. Most importantly, the room met my three key needs, it was clean, it was quiet, and I felt safe. My only complaint is that there is only the one bathroom for the whole property. It wasn't really an issue as there are only a handful of rooms and the other guests were on slightly different schedules than us. The property does list a shared bathroom so we were prepared but I'm used to a secondary commode.
Will add one thing that really is more of an observation than a complaint. The property has stools and a commercial stove so it feels like the property should serve food of some sort, but it does not. We had to go back into town to find dinner.
- Charles (10/5): - Lots of interesting products for sale. Short drive to find a view!
- Tonii (8/5): Very good -
- Shannon (10/5): Exceptional -
- Jason (10/5): - The staff was friendly. Especially Doug, he played his guitar and sang for us, also met a wonderful couple from Nova Scotia. Will look forward of going there again.
- Doble (6/5): Pleasant -
- Rachel (10/5): Exceptional -
- Rodriguez (10/5): Exceptional -
- Ann (10/5): Exceptional -
- Christopher (3/5): Host attempted to enter room twice without knocking. - Midway through our stay a host (or someone else staying at the location) attempted to enter our room while we were inside without knocking. This happened on two occasions. First they opened the door and closed it after realizing we were in the room, then an hour later they attempted to open the door the SECOND time and resorted to knocking after realizing it was locked. They were looking for something they’d left in our room prior to our arrival.
In all it turned out fine but was very alarming to have a stranger we had not met attempt to enter our room. In a location with shared spaces “trust” is a critical thing to cultivate and our trust was violated by this behavior. It completely ruined our stay.
Separately, the heating and cooling was unpredictable (probably a result of the season of our visit); the bed was somewhat uncomfortable, and more than one piece of furniture in the room was in poor shape (wood paneling peeling etc.)
- Amanda (9/5): Superb -
- Devin (9/5): Superb -
- David (4/5): - If you like staying in a scented candle shop with no private bathroom, no one to greet you, no paving and no view, this is your place.
- Ttffany l (10/5): - Only need is tv and the room but nice place
- Jake (8/5): Very good -
- Kaitlyn (10/5): Exceptional - Unique inn, great vibe.
- Ross (8/5): Very good - Close to Sunday River and at very low cost
- Jake (7/5): Good -
- Robert (10/5): Exceptional -
- Yifan (10/5): Awesome farmhouse, great for skiing stay! - This is more of a shared Airbnb other than a hotel. The farmhouse is made with love, and the host Jack is a very quiet person, he showed us around and then let us enjoy ourselves in the house, just checking in daily to see if we need something or have questions, that's exactly what we want.
The house has a kitchen, with a microwave, knives, tableware and all the things you need for prepared dishes. There is also a self-serve k-cup coffee machine and a water kettle in the doorway. K-cup and water are provided. The dining table is huge and near the stove, we enjoyed some warm and comfortable breakfasts and dinners, my friend also spent much time reading a book there, until later moved to the sofa near the stove, it was also great. There's a gift shop near our room with huge mats, I did after-skiing yoga there, and love the decoration, made it a fancy yoga background.
Our room has a refrigerator and an electric heater inside, to keep our own food and adjust the room temperature as we need. Although the picture only showed one bed in our room, we actually got one additional folding sofa bed, so made it two beds in the room.
The shared bathroom needs a little patience since this is the only bathroom in the house. The other guests were polite and we did not have any problem sharing. The shower was hot, so comfortable after a day of skiing!
Overall the stay let us feels at home. And with the price and location, we will definitely come back again when we ski at Sunday River.
