- robin (8/5): Pleasant hotel good staff and my meal was very good - Wry welcoming Parking around the hotel is not great !
- Simon (9/5): Lovely room, fabulous staff - Lovely room, great location, really helpful staff
- Susan (10/5): Great service, location and comfortable stay. - Great location for us visiting family right in the heart of the town, friendly staff and nice that had its own entrance so didn't have to go through the pub if you didn't want to. Breakfast wasn't available but we were refunded straight away and recommended the Okka cafe next door which was amazing. It was great stay, with comfortable good size room that looked exactly like the pictures advertised, would definitely stay again. Nothing
- elizabeth (10/5): - the staff were really friendly, the food was good at dinner and breakfast
- Jon (8/5): - Comfortable bed nice bath No coffee in room

- Ian (8/5): An enjoyable stay - Staff were great. Food was good. Room was susceptible to traffic noise from the main road early in the morning
- Ian (10/5): Fantastic place - a hidden gem - Great location and beautiful boutique room with fabulous staff and great facilities- huge breakfast and I can’t speak highly enough of the place Nothing could be better
- Mark (8/5): Fine for overnight in Harpenden. - Ideal location for a short stay in Harpenden. The room was tastefully decorated with everything you need.
Angelina in the pub was extremely helpful and friendly.
- Nichola (9/5): Lovely stay, had a great time . Would definitely come back. - Great location for the station and theatre. Lovely girl Angelina who served us both days we were there. So sweet, helpful and polite .
Super comfy bed. Beautiful bar/ dining area.
Loved the shower/bath system , easy to use and made more logic than anywhere else we have been. Windows in bedroom need some maintenance but didn’t affect our stay , just something I noticed .
- Robin (6/5): - The staff in the pub / restaurant were lovely especially the girl who had nearly lost her voice Plug stuck in sink couldn't use it.
Bottom of toilet needed bleach
- Andrea (10/5): Great place to stay 10/10 - Great position, easy access to shops, other pubs and restaurants. The room was fantastic, we even had a roll top bath in the bedroom, very swanky. Great garden area. Very friendly staff. Just all round great. No carpark but the best place to park is the Lydekker Car Park which is free all weekend and a short walk to the pub.
- David (9/5): As clearing house perfect for a one night stay and reminisce. - Decor, bed Noise - but that’s just a personal aspect
- Jetteke (9/5): -
- Riccardo (9/5): Decent breakfast - Yes, nice Clean room
- Karen (9/5): Very enjoyable short break - Staff very friendly, helpful and welcoming. Breakfast superb. Nothing we disliked but parking can be more awkward at busy times.
- Jennifer (5/5): A lot of money for an uncomfortable stay. - Modern style. Central location. ‘Double’ bedroom did not have a double bed. Mattress was smaller than a standard double so was a very uncomfortable nights sleep.
Window netting had bird poo on it. Cobwebs in the corners and only one mug. Quality of breakfast was very average.
- Tina (8/5): Lovely rooms in a great location - Lovely individual and good sized rooms in a great location. Stayed three times now Located on a main road so some rooms can be noisy if you’re a light sleeper
- Carmen (10/5): -
- Terry (8/5): -
- Anthony (10/5): Lovely pub and rooms with very helpful staff -
- janet (8/5): Lovely pub and gardens - Breakfast was great
Reception was very helpful
Location is good
Most staff very helpful Bathroom needed an extra clean
Coffee stains in the sink toilet rim very lime scaled
One member of bar staff had a very abrasive attitude when asked about wine served to me
- Lesley (10/5): Very good stay - we would recommend the Old Cock and hope to stay there again - Lovely breakfasts and a great evening meal Their own parking space would have been good, but there was timed parking on the street nearby
- Martin (8/5): Excellent position, beautifully decorated, very clean and great friendly staff. Look out for the charming Pablo. - Excellent Pablo at breakfast with a very very friendly l colleague who cooked a delicious breakfast. Room and facilities very tastefully decorated. Great location. Very easy to book in and out. Room number 2, the basin plug needs fixing no. The bath fittings need fixing and the plug does not stop water going out. Bed too small for a couple.
- Gayle (9/5): Fabulous hotel in the center of Harpenden - Lovely location, perfect for our plans. Friendly and helpful staff and large room with tasty breakfast included. Room was a little chilly at night.
- Katy (10/5): -
- Stacey (8/5): -
- Sarah (9/5): Lovely room and breakfast in very central location. Super staff. - Super sized room overlooking the pub garden and local church. Very central. Very friendly and helpful staff. Attractively decorated bedroom with large comfortable bed and well sized bathroom. Very quiet at night. Breakfast cooked to order and eaten in very attractive main pub downstairs. Some rooms are over the pub so don't be surprised to hear music , voices etc till closing time. Only marked down to a 9 as no on-site parking, but as we know area we parked on residential roads nearby and walked.
- david (10/5): - Lovely room, excellent location and great service. Nothing that I can think of.
- John (9/5): Comfortable accommodation in excellent location. -
- Ellena (8/5): Great central location - Good size room, comfy bed. Lovely breakfast Windows wouldn't close, not enough lighting in the room
- Vanessa (8/5): We would definitely return especially if the duvets are replaced! - The pub is in a great location and the rooms are large, comfortable and nicely decorated. The staff were very friendly and everything was very clean. The only problem was that we stayed in early February and the duvet felt cheap and was very thin. When we asked if we could have a blanket or extra duvet there were none available.
- Gregory (8/5): -
- Andy (8/5): Very good stay and will return. - Located in the town centre. Rooms have a separate entrance adjacent to the pub and ours was very clean and comfortable. Great breakfast. No parking at the pub although there is free overnight parking nearby.
- Mike (8/5): -
- Jo (10/5): -
- Martin (9/5): What we expected, very comfortable, good very central location. - Nice room, good breakfast. No on site parking
- Sarah (5/5): Lovely rooms but so noisy, take the ear plugs! - Beautiful large room, lovely decor, great central location, nice breakfast The noise! I was initially put in a room at the back of the hotel and all I could hear was the thump thump of the music from the bar below. I couldn’t stand it so I asked to be moved and was put in a room at the front which had all the cars and buses going past. Single glazed windows offered no sound proofing whatsoever. The traffic noise stopped around midnight and started again at 5. I had to go across to Boots to buy earplugs but could still hear the traffic through them.
- CHARIS (6/5): Lovely, clean place to stay but very hot in summer and I recommend you take your own pillow! - Efficient and friendly staff with an extensive menu of delicious food and great gins and wines. The accommodation was spotless but sadly, super hot. I stayed in August and the duvet was an extra heavy winter duvet, no fan was provided and the windows only open a crack. The pillows are small and square rather than the normal size and were particularly uncomfortable without support. All those factors, couple with a pretty hard bed, meant I got next to no sleep, which was obviously frustrating because the rest of the stay was super. The comfort of the bed and linens.
- Val (8/5): Lovely location and great rooms with lovely staff - but on a busy road with pub underneath so can be - Breakfast choices were fantastic, room was good size The loud music which went off at early hours of the morning which only was switched off when the cleaners arrived at 6am
- Margaret (8/5): - Food in Pub
- Chris (10/5): -
- graham (10/5): -
- Josef (8/5): -
- Elizabeth (9/5): Good value in good location with easy check in and check out - Comfortable warm and quiet
- William (8/5): -
- costello (7/5): -
- Rachel (10/5): -
- Phil (8/5): -
- Sandra (8/5): - Great staff not enough tables for just a drink. Rooms great
- Sharon (8/5): -
- Beverly (9/5): -
- Drew (9/5): good night stay - always stay here before we fly from luton , great location for the air park service , comfortable room ,comfortable bed , adequate room , nice evening meal , unfortunately can not rate breakfast as we always leave early morning, staff friendly 😀
- Justin (7/5): Excellent pub in central location perfect for a short stay - The room was very good with a comfortable bed, everything worked, it was clean and well stocked with all the things you need for the stay. The shower was good and lots of hot water and plenty of clean towels. Staff were lovely and very welcoming. No fault of the pub but just for awareness, it is located on the High Street (great from that perspective) but on the night I stayed the M1 was shut for roadworks so there were lots of lorries passing. Not an issue if you are a heavy sleeper but worth noting or asking for a room at the back of the pub.
- John (9/5): Comfortable place to stay in convenient location in the centre of Harpenden. - Excellent breakfast. No parking at the premises.
- Jane (8/5): - Comfortable beds, quiet, good breakfast No onsite parking. Only 4 hand towels in room, no bath towels. Same for our son’s room. Only one glass supplied in a room for 2. All minor things - wouldn’t stop us from returning.
- Stephen (6/5): Pleasant accommodation but don’t expect customer service on to - The room was pleasant, clean and suitably equipped. Breakfast was very disappointing. It was clearly too much trouble for the staff who didn’t acknowledge me and after several minutes, I had to get their attention to order. There was no milk, though the girl offered to go to the shop…I accepted oat milk for my drink. The toast with my poached eggs was a single stale piece, unbuttered and only toasted on one side. Nothing else offered, such as juice, cereal or pastries so I duly left to find somewhere in the town. Really poor offering and service which spoiled my stay. Zero interest in customer service.
- Tony (7/5): Great breakfast and decent location - Location & breakfast Noisy cos of traffic and single glazing. Also room was difficult to get warm
- Janet (9/5): - Location and the ability to have breakfast on site this time
- colin (8/5): Short stay for work but very enjoyable - Friendly staff, nice room, good bar and restaurant Nothing
- Juliet (9/5): Well finished comfortable rooms in the middle of the town - Well finished large rooms, really comfortable beds and all the facilities, right in the center of Harpenden close to the restaurants and pubs. Proper milk in the rooms too! Great breakfast with lots of options. Bar staff were less attentive to checking us in. Also, we saw it in the write up but needs to be clear there is no parking at the pub and is very busy in the local area - ask ahead and plan it.
- Tom Ritchie (9/5): - Everything apart from the parking! Everything apart from the parking!
- Damon (10/5): I’d def recommend and would stay again - Clean, great staff and great food Property was great
- Charlotte (9/5): -
- Malcolm (9/5): A lovely stay from start to finish - lovely room, lovely pub with good menu and good food - Everything was really good Nothing
- Douglas (8/5): Pub staff/ chef impressive and flexible. Lovely pub, nice room great food and beverages / menu. - Room brightness/ decor / comfort / furniture Hotwater wasn’t working one night - a staff member went above and beyound to try and solve the problem and went up into the attic to check boiler.
- Hugh (3/5): Never again! - We wanted to be in the town and the hotel was in the town. Heating system was limited hours. No hot water in the morning after 7.30 am both mornings of our stay. Had to boil kettle to heat water for washing.
Limited breakfast with no cereal and even some items on breakfast menu were not available.
Room accessed by separate secure entry door onto the street.
We made complaints to the staff at the time re availability of hot water but no action was taken.
Our situation was not helped by extremely cold weather at the time of our stay.
- Lisa (10/5): - The guys that run the pub and hotel are just so welcoming and friendly, the decor is quirky and the food was amazing. Will definitely be back Nothing
- Liz (7/5): -
- Tina (10/5): Excellent stay - The team were very friendly and helpful. The breakfast was delicious.
- Martin (7/5): Pleasant - Cold water in room. Temperature of room cold
- Joanna (10/5): -
- Elle (10/5): Central location, Comfortable room, great breakfast - Nice town, great location , comfortable room, perfect for an overnight stay!
- Denis (9/5): -
- Rob (9/5): - Great staff, comfy room and a great location. Nothing
- Adam Carter (8/5): -
- Colin (8/5): - Comfortable accommodation. Good value for money. Very generous breakfast. Nice evening meals. Helpful staff. Potential parking issues. Ours was solved by the manager.
- cook (7/5): -
- Pippa (7/5): Great weekend away! - Friendly, great location and lovely room!
- Elisabeth (5/5): The manager in training was aware of our disappointment and did what he was able to improve our stay.he was limited in w - Location as we are considering moving to Harpenden closer to family. We were not informed before our stay and or at the time of booking. Refurbishment and renovation currently in progress. Scaffolding around the property and tradespeople working outside of our bedroom and bathroom windows. You need to consider some recompense to me for the considerable inconvenience and how this affected our stay at the Old Cock Inn. A disappointment for us as we were looking forward to our 4 nights stay at the Inn.
- Alan (8/5): Small additions would make this good provision excellent. - Very spacious, comfortable room with large bed, two chairs for relaxing. Wide variety of tea/coffee available in the room. Large, well furnished ensuite. Excellent full English breakfast. There were no coat hangers or pegs for hanging clothes in the room. The breakfast included only one cup of coffee and glass of juice - disappointing given the good portions of high quality food included the breakfast and the range of drinks available in the bedroom. Some noise from music in the bar but finished before midnight.
- Helen (10/5): Well appointed rooms. Comfy bed. Tea and coffee facilities (replenished on request). Friendly staff. - Great location in Harpenden. Separate entrance to get to the accommodation from the main pub. Despite overlooking the pub garden the noise was minimal and stopped at midnight. No on-site parking. But was able to park in a side street nearby- approx 5 minute walk from car to pub.
- gail (8/5): Value for money. - Staff nice, good value, breakfast very good. A lot Mold in the bathtub area, could be removed easily with some mold remover spray.
- Ellen (8/5): Clean, comfortable and very stylish - Stylish and very good sized room and bathroom. It was very clean and comfortable and well furnished and decorated. Also a good location close to the centre of Harpenden. Quite close yo the road.
- David (8/5): - Conveniently located, food good, exceptional service by Harriet and Abby. Noise from revellers late into the evening but it is a pub so....
- Roger (8/5): -
- lorraine (8/5): -
- Peggie (10/5): - Room was lovely and property location couldn’t be better.
Excellent service from staff and food was fabulous. Music from the restaurant disturbed our sleep most nights. No car parking.
- Marian (6/5): -
- Honorata (9/5): - Spokojna okolica, gdzie można było wypocząć. Bardzo wygodne łóżko. Śniadanie pyszne do wyboru z karty.
- JJ (8/5): -
- kate (7/5): Lovely rooms, but too noisy for me - Lovely room that was nicely decorated. Staff very friendly. The road noise was too much for me - I didn't sleep well. Pillows too soft. No bin in toilet.
- Mike (9/5): -
- Gault (10/5): - Staff went above and beyond
Ramona and Angelina were awesome
- Tracy (8/5): - Clean room, good amenities, lovely staff, easy to park The room was really noisy very early in the morning on both mornings sounded like furniture being dragged around from room 4
- SALLIE (10/5): - Ideally situated for all Harpenden facilities, and links to London and other areas. Comfortable room and pleasant staff.
- Val (8/5): Best B&B in Harpenden - Atmosphere, room and en-suite well decorated and maintained. Bar and restaurant staff polite and nice to deal with Bar service a bit chaotic at busy times
