- Jim (9/5): Very comfortable small friendly Hotel - The staff were friendly and helpful, they would go out of their way to help or assist. Beds were comfy with great quilts for warmth. Good location for bars and restaurants, also short walk to slopes. Breakfast could have more variety but OK
- Hui Hui (6/5): -
- PiratePete (10/5): Great, friendly hotel. - Home away from home. 2nd time staying here. Good size room for Japan, though very small bathroom area. Firm, but comfortable bed. Very friendly staff who go out of their way to help you. Good sized breakfast. Highly recommend. Nil

- Rachel L (10/5): Amazing hospitality - My 5-year-old kid and I just returned from the most wonderful 4-night stay at Hotel Sejour Mint.
From the moment we arrived, the service was outstanding. They offered pick up and drop off services from the JR train station or the bus stop. This took all the stress out of traveling with a little one and our luggage.
The location is perfect. It’s an easy, walkable distance to the ski rental shops and the ski resort, which was so convenient. There is also a dry room for our ski gear. To top it off, they have a laundry machine available, which is a lifesaver on a family trip. In the hotel room, there's a USB charger on the bedside table, which makes charging the phone very convenient.
The hospitality truly went above and beyond. Our host was incredibly kind. During a busy hour, he offered to drive us to the slope. It’s those little thoughtful gestures that made us feel so welcome. The hotel itself is very clean and has a wonderfully cosy environment. We looked forward to soaking in the onsen every single night after a day on the slopes.
But the absolute highlight for our family was the dining experience. We had breakfast and dinner at the hotel, and the food was fantastic. My daughter is a very picky eater, but even she absolutely loved the shabu shabu. The host went out of their way to make my daughter feel special. Every night, there was a different toy waiting for her in the dining table, which she was so excited about. Our host even offered her complimentary orange juice and ice-cream. It was such a sweet and unexpected gesture.
While the host is very friendly, the staff running the hotel is a wonderful mix of young, energetic people from different places such as UK and France. They were all incredibly nice, helpful, and a joy to chat with after dinner. It felt like staying with friends. If you are looking for a stress-free, warm, and memorable ski holiday, book Hotel Sejour Mint. We were happy all the time!

- Cleopatra (10/5): We loved our stay here we will come back next year thanks Jon and staff! - Great location, really nice staff, good breakfast, warm rooms, picked up from station and dropped back off My partner very big (6ft 5) so was a bit small the shower for him but other than that it was perfect
- anna (10/5): -
- Chris (9/5): Fantastic overall experience with great hosts and delicious food - Amazing staff who could not do enough for us Adjacent road quite slippery at times
- Paniti (8/5): Great location and excellent hospitality - The staff were friendly with warm hospitality. The service was excellent.
- Bruce (7/5): A Place to Stay in Hakuba Valley - Management and staff were wonderful. Ski and ski boot room. I waited till the end of our month long ski trip before writing this review. Comparatively, our room was small and not well appointed for accommodating skiers with lots of ski clothing. No drawers, small closet, no shelves, barely enough room for suitcases. Not nearly as nice and more expensive than any other place we stayed in the Japanese Alps. Now I get it, it is Hakuba.
- Julie (10/5): Like staying with family. Very lovely - Jon and his wife and the staff were all very helpful and inviting. Nothing was too much trouble for any of them Nothing
- Julie (10/5): Amazing. We will return. They are now our family - Everything. The staff and owners were amazing g. We had 4 room and nothing was too much for them. The shuttle bus to the Escal plaza was a bonus too. Nothing
- Kristin (10/5): A peaceful, family-friendly stay with excellent ski access, warm hospitality, and a quiet charm. - This is a fantastic hotel in Hakuba Goryu, located just outside the central Hakuba Valley. For us, that made all the difference.
Location & Atmosphere
Being slightly removed from central Hakuba meant a quieter, more relaxed stay. We appreciated the charm and quaintness of the area—something we didn’t quite find in the busier main village. Restaurant availability was also much easier, often without needing reservations.
Ski Access
Access to the slopes was excellent. We had Goryu, Hakuba 47, and Iimori right on our doorstep, which provided more than enough variety for our trip.
Getting Around
The trade-off of staying outside central Hakuba was transport. When we booked restaurants in the main village, taxis were around AUD $100 return, or alternatively, you could take the Hakuba bus, which can take some time. It’s worth factoring this in depending on your plans. The hotel does help arrange taxi's for you, but should you need to arrange it yourself, the taxi company's speak mostly English.
Overall Experience
Overall, the location suited us even better than central Hakuba. Our priority was family time, convenient skiing, and having a peaceful, comfortable hotel to return to each day—and this delivered on all fronts.
The hot bath was fantastic after a day on the slopes. Laundry facilities were adequate, though limited. The atmosphere was friendly and intimate, making it easy to get to know other guests. Breakfast was excellent and a perfect way to start each morning.
Most importantly, the staff were exceptional. When one of our children became unwell during our stay, they went above and beyond to help us. Their kindness and support made a stressful situation much easier, and we were genuinely grateful for the care they showed. The only minor downside was the laundry facilities. There was just one washing machine and one dryer for all guests, and the dryer took quite a long time to fully dry clothes. It wasn’t a major issue, but during peak times it did require some patience.
- man fung (10/5): 今次旅程住五日,屋主好友善好客,屋內有暖氣,晚上寧靜,住得好舒服 - 環境勁靚,性格比高,近五龍雪場,雪具租借方便有折扣 沒有
- Lauren (10/5): - John and his team were amazing! So kind and helpful, great to chat to, and the breakfast they served was a lovely bonus to get us on the slopes early!
- Choon Leong (10/5): -
- Valeriia (10/5): Recommended! - Staff are 10/10! They picked up and dropped off us from/to bus station, sent our equipment to Tokyo and so on
Breakfast is proper, felt full until lunch! Dry room is not connected with hotel (need to go outside) not far but still a bit uncomfortable and dry room is not warm enough (ski boots were always cold)
- Bo (10/5): -
- Greg (8/5): - Warm, friendly and super-helpful staff, in an excellent location. The breakfast was simple but good, and owners Jon and his wife were so kind and helpful. Easy to get to Escal Plaza and restaurants are all nearby. A great little hotel for skiers.
- June (10/5): Amazing place so welcoming will 100 percent be back can’t recommend higher! - The owners are truely so welcoming and help with everything if you ever need assistance just ask John Nothing it was great
- Lone (10/5): - My family LOVED everything ❤️
- Daniel (10/5): Exceptional - Everything, the place, the manager is nice. Lovely people Nothing tbh
- Paul157893 (10/5): - The friendliest most helpful staff and a perfect one location near the skiing
- Jon (10/5): A perfect 10! -
- Nicole (10/5): -
- Jude (10/5): -
- Alison (9/5): -
- Samantha (8/5): Great value for money, super friendly staff but bring some warm clothes for breakfast! - Good location, ski lifts within walking distance, clean and comfortable accommodation. There is no heating in the main rooms of the hotel, so had to wear extra layers at breakfast or when sitting in the lounge.
- james (10/5): Loved it will be staying agin next year 100% - Couldn’t do more for for you. Clean and comfortable, great location, maybe a lift up the hill could help but it’s a great warm up and about two and half songs to the escal plaza. Maybe breakfast for an 87kg bloke could be more, I love bacon !
- Zoe (10/5): Great location, amazing powder days, friendly staff - We had an amazing stay at Sejour Mint and in the Junior Mint apartment and couldn't recommend it enough! The staff were all very kind and welcoming. Jon picked us up / dropped us off from the train station, making all travel run smoothly without needing to rent a car. The location was perfect within walking distance to the base of Goryu and to many cafes, restaurants and bars. We loved relaxing in the onsen after a long day of skiing, and our shabu shabu meal in the hotel restaurant was a highlight of the trip!
- Angela (9/5): Lovely staff, great location on the quieter side of Hakuba - Really enjoyed our stay at Sejour Mint. All the staff were super friendly, really had that family feel. We liked to location - 500m walk to the Escalator plaza/Goryu ski slope - was an easy walk each morning, and there were coin lockers at escal plaza to leave your shoes and other items in during the day. Hotel had a large shared Japanese bath / fantastic after a day of skiing. And drying room for your gear. Rooms were basic but comfy. I enjoyed the breakfast - was usually a small serve of bacon and eggs or similar with some kind of bread (croissant, roll, muffin etc depending on the day) and a small buffet where you can help yourself to cereal, tea coffee & juice. Staff picked us up and dropped us off at bus stop when we arrived & left, and helped us send our luggage to the next hotel. Honestly nothing I didn’t like - it’s a quieter area than Happo One, so if you like energy and nightlife it’s not the area for you but there were a few restaurants or bars within walking distance that we enjoyed.
- Prue (10/5): -
- CHUNG-HSING (10/5): - Excellent multilingual host and friendly staff.
Rooms are simple and tidy.
The heated drying room is a great bonus for skiers.
A top choice for your Hakuba trip!
- Junsen (10/5): -
- Phil (10/5): Stay here! - Awesome place to stay. Great vibe amongst the staff and Jon (owner) is a fantastic and accommodating host. Breakfast is excellent, the hotel plate of food is just right with the yum bread rolls and cereal, juice and coffee. The Japanese bath (Onsen) downstairs is a delight after a big day up the hill. Nothing to dislike
- Peacock (9/5): Hospitality that goes above and beyond - I loved my time at Sejour Mint. It was like staying in a family home rather than a hotel. My favourite moments were coming from the slopes to soak in the Japanese bath and then happy hour at the bar and conversations with the staff and guests It’s not the warmest building but they have plenty of spare heaters!
- Daniel (10/5): Perfect for any snow adventure in Hakuba! - Hotel Sejour Mint blew our expectations. We were welcomed like family upon arrival, perfect when shaking off the snow covering our jackets and suitcases. The location is a short walk (or ski if snowing) from Hakuba Goryu Escal Plaza, easy for beginner/intermediate ski runs and night skiing. The futon beds and heater kept the family nice and warm regardless of the temperature outside, and the onsen helped ease the aches and pains of the day away. Breakfast every morning was perfect start before the ski run. Then after all the fun of Hakuba, Hotel Sejour Mint helped transport us to Hakuba Train Station with all our luggage! Can't fault it at all!
- Luca (10/5): -
- Anthony (9/5): Welcoming and Convenient, Cozy Stay - Truly welcoming atmosphere that really cares about the well-being and experience of guests. John is the man! Really appreciated receiving a complimentary ride service to a nearby destination when it was needed and the location right by the ski runs can't be beat for the price. Also no language barriers to have nice conversations if you're an English speaker. It's not the fanciest or most modern luxury resort but that should be known going in anyway, and the friendly staff community is well worth the experience with a warm local feel.
- Héctor (8/5): -
- Wade (10/5): Value for money, great location, felt very welcoming - Jon and staff made the stay comfortable and pleasurable. Room for our family of 5 was large, daily breakfast was a nice experience as was happy
Hour. A short walk uphill to the airport plaza and ski resorts. I enjoy walking and 7-11 is a 15-20 minute walk great place to get teenagers snacks!
We will be back when time permits. Nothing
- Rachel (10/5): Fantastic - Amazing staff, great location, relaxed atmosphere.
- Elise (9/5): - The hotel provided great breakfast every day and had complimentary water/tea/coffee/cocoa. It’s ran by the sweetest couple and all the staff are incredible! They will do whatever they can to make your stay comfortable and make sure you’re situated for the best ski trip ever!
- Rebecca (10/5): Play hard, rest hard is the perfect motto for the hotel - Close to the slopes!!
John and his team are so lovely, they make you feel so welcome and are great to talk to.
John was amazing with my dietary restrictions and kept me well fed our entire stay! We will be coming back
- Amanda (10/5): This hotel was wonderful and just what you'd expect from a ski lodge. - Highly recommend. Jon and Hidemi were very welcoming and helpful with information and tips on ski passes, equipment hire, restaurant reservations etc which was priceless given that this was our first trip to Hakuba.
The room was extremely clean and comfortable.
The whole team were warm and welcoming and the service was excellent.
We had an unforgettable trip and look forward to our next visit.
- Anthony (10/5): -
- Richards (10/5): - Jon and the team went above and beyond, it was a wonderful friendly authentic experience, in a great location, with everything you need.
- Ingrid (10/5): Fantastic hotel. Can’t wait to return! - We had the most wonderful time at Sejour Mint! It was so close to the slopes at Escal Plaza, with great recommendations for local ski hire. We absolutely adored the staff, with owner Jon, and Ademi going above and beyond for our stay.
Tom was a godsend on our last day, transporting us to our bus stop in a blizzard to make sure we got to Nagano safely. He was so professional and kind and knowledgeable - Sejour Mint is lucky to have him!
We will definitely be recommending this accommodation to our family and friends, and will look forward to returning there on future trips to Hakuba. 24 hour onsen was fantastic as well :)
- Bernard (9/5): Great team, service, location, and value! - Great team that always went above and beyond to take care of their guests. Felt like a home away from home. We can’t want to go back!!
- Ana Christina (8/5): Amazing location and host. Very convenient for the ski slopes - The proximity to the ski fields & Jon & his wife are lovely. Older style hotel. However we did choose it for the experience
- Jing Lun (9/5): - 早餐很好吃
- Gustavs (10/5): -
- Chelsea (10/5): Will be staying here again for my next trip. - I liked the spacious room and all the staff were amazing. Such a nice place to stay when visiting Hakuba.
- Kate (10/5): A very enjoyable stay for my family of 5. The owners and staff are lovely and really helpful - The location was perfect. Only a short walk to the lifts at Escal plaza Goryu but nice and quiet otherwise. There are a few restaurants in walking distance
- Noel (9/5): -
- Daniel (10/5): - Very friendly staff. Accommodating to coeliac guests.
- jing (10/5): highly recommend - 1. Very friendly customer service: picking up at JR station and sending back, welcoming and goodbye snacks, always smiling and kind
2. Very cozy room and spaces: warm and cozy, with sauna room downstairs
3. Breakfast is served in set meal, nicely cooked
4. 5-7 minutes by walk to Goryu, skiing place and bus stop, super convenient Nothing
- Ali (10/5): Jon, Hidemi and the whole staff were very attentive and made our family feel at home; I would recommend the hotel to any -
- Michelle (10/5): Walk to slopes, good food and drinks. Amazing host. - Location, walking distance to Goryu. Excellent host in Jon and his wonderful crew.
Love the hot pot dinner available at the lodge (choose sukiyaki chicken nabe or shabu shabu) but walking distance too to a couple of really good izakayas for your piping hot après ski Japanese dinner fix.
Oh and the bar onsite happens to be the only place I’ve found in this part of Hakuba that you can get Hakuba Brewery IPA on tap. And at a decent price too!
Hotel has it’s own little Japanese bath .. open 24 hours so you don’t have to brave the cold to get your post ski day soak. Rooms are small and basic. But you’re not here to lounge in your room, are you? It’s close enough here for you to walk out to catch the lift for the 7am sunrise ski at Goryu. Can’t get better than that.
- Julia (10/5): - This was such a nice place to stay at! All staff were very lovely and the hotel was in a great spot (9 min walk to the ski base). Breakfast was fantastic as well, would definitely book again.
- Zhang (10/5): The hardware may be a little dated but the heart-ware was deeply felt. Jon is awesome! - It has an onsen bath at the basement - awesome after a day on the slopes!
Christmas Eve dinner was great with Hakuba pork shabu shabu! Steps up to the front was a little slippery. meant the need for extra care when carrying up heavy luggage.
- Jasli Noemi (10/5): - Lo amables que son al recibirte, es muy cerca de la montaña, todo el personal nos hizo sentir muy bien, las cobijas muy comodas, todos nos gustó
- Kelly (8/5): Very good - Staff were incredibly caring and accommodating. Our children loved how special they were treated which also made our time more relaxing. Staff were very knowledgeable and helped us with lots of information. Ski passes were a great price and they helped us out with booking lessons and referring us to a store to hire equipment. It was a lovely relaxing place to stay. Would highly recommend.
- Angela (9/5): Fabulous stay in the snow at Hitel Sejour Mint. The staff are very friendly and knowledgeable. - Small hotel in right in the snow. Very helpful and friendly staff. We had a fantastic stay!
- Will (9/5): We had a great stay, the staff were terrific and made us feel welcome :) - - Friendly Staff
- Spacious Areas
- Clean Rooms
- Onsen on site
- Good Access to Local Restaurant's The bus system in Hakuba, if you are an advanced skier/boarder I would recommend renting a car to get around to the other resorts. If you are a beginner, the 3 mountains nearby are great.
- Alexandra (10/5): Home away from home - 10/10 - Our stay at Hotel Sejour Mint was one of the most inviting and homely experiences I’ve ever had. The facilities were excellent — exactly as advertised and spotlessly clean. The location was perfect for accessing the Hakuba Goyru Snow Field, and the staff were incredibly warm and welcoming.
Breakfast each morning was delicious, and the hotel offered affordable washing facilities and a relaxing onsen. Jon and his team went above and beyond — they picked us up upon arrival in Hakuba and even dropped us off at the bus stop when we checked out. I accidentally left my hat in Jon’s car, and once he realised, he drove back to the bus stop to make sure I got it back.
We had the best time staying here, and I would highly recommend it to absolutely anyone. Nothing.
- Aaron (10/5): Wonderful hotel close to Goryu - The staff were wonderful and the locations is perfect. The food was delicious as well.
- Lyn (10/5): Cannot speak highly enough of the hospitality we received staying here - John was the most amazing host and the staff so accomodating to the last customers of a long season. Beds comfortable, room warm and beer cold. Location easy walking distance to skiing and restaurants- if you are in Hakuba Goryu you definitely need to spend a few days at Sejour Mint
- Lee (8/5): Luved this hotel and the staff were amazing. Close to ski resort and restaurants - Close proximity to the snow resort Nothing
- Rye (7/5): Warm and friendly stay - Staff went out of their way to give us rides and local info. Great location within walking distance of Goryu. Fluffy blankets, good breakfast, and space to store and dry out snow gear. Beds were rather uncomfortable and walls were thin.
- Bryce (10/5): Exceptional -
- Sean (9/5): Superb -
- Justin (10/5): Warm welcoming hospitality in a cold and snowy place - Sensational staff that treat you like family, couldn't be happier with the location and the hospitality.
They even gave us a lift to the bus station after checking out for no charge. Couldn't be happier. Nil
- Wladimir (10/5): Amazing staff, perfect location - Our stay in Sejour Mint was amazing. Both Jon and Hidemi were accommodating hosts. Made our 5 day stay a pleasure.
The room was clean and comfortable. The heating was good. Breakfast was simple but delicious. They also have dinner by request if you’d rather stay in and have dinner at the hotel.
We went in February and the snow was beautiful. It was good to stay a few minutes walking distance to Goryu Hakuba 47 where we were snowboarding.
What was special about this hotel was the friendly staff that made us feel at home. Definitely will consider booking another stay here again next season.
- Jo-nz (10/5): Exceptional - Within walking distance of the skifield.
Very nice staff.
Comfortable room.
Excellent cooked breakfast with warm bread rolls.
They gave you a little thank you snack pack when you checked out.
- Vivien (10/5): My husband and I stay there for 4 nights for ski,the owner Jon and all the staff are very nice and helpful. They can an - Home style No
- Esther (10/5): Exceptional - Friendly hosts
- Melissa (10/5): Convenient, comfortable, clean, relaxing, enjoyable, and a good value. - The owner and staff are kind, personable, knowledgeable about the area and willing to help guests with travel arrangements and restaurant recommendations. The service was exceptional: the day we departed, the staff provided our children with a parting gift bag of treats, and the owner drove my family to the Hakuba train station and made an additional trip to get our luggage.
The heated dry room for skiing/snowboarding equipment, the filling and tasty breakfasts, and the onsen style bath were welcome bonuses.
- Stefano (10/5): We loved our stay. Very happy with the facilities and how friendly all the staff were. We would definetly come back. - Very friendly and helpful staff. This is not related to the property itself, but if you don’t have a car it can be hard to get to other ski resorts or into town due to the lack of taxis and public transport in the area.
- Linda (10/5): Charming guesthouse, with lovely hosts and staff, in a convenient location for skiing and some lovely bars and restauran - Great location, convenient for the slopes and some lovely little bars/restaurants. What really made it special though were the hosts, John and his wife, who are such interesting, welcoming and helpful hosts, going out of their way to ensure everything is perfect. This apparently rubbed off on the seasonal staff who were enthusiastic and friendly on all occasions.
John provided transport when we couldn’t reserve a bus, helped us to find vegan food, recommended bars, gave guidance on off the beaten track activities in our onward locations and shared interesting stories with us…..it’s worth taking the time to chat to him!
Nice hot bath in the basement; room for probably 3 people at a time but generally I was the only one there! The beds were a little hard for me, but I’ve found that to be the case throughout our Japan travels, so not unique to this hotel.
- Jacqui (9/5): Great location to ski fields. Excellent staff. - Staff were exceptional and went out of their way to assist us. John picked us up from the train station on arrival and dropped us to bus station when we left. Greeted us on arrival at hotel with a nice hot drink and gave us a little bag of small treats for the onward journey. Whilst small, breakfast was included and sufficient. Very friendly wait staff who we enjoyed chatting with each day. Accommodation is quite basic and pillows and bed a little hard. Bathroom is very small but sufficient.
- Kass (10/5): Exceptional - Loved everything about it! the location, the amenities, cleanliness and most importantly the hospitality!! the hosts ensured we felt right at home and offered to pick and drop us off at the bus stop late at night and early in the morning! food was also amazing, cooked with so much heart and passion, we had an incredible stay, will return again!! -
- Ivan (10/5): Perfect - Lovely BnB close to the base of Goryu Escal Plaza. Hospitality was wonderful and I felt like I was returning home every evening on returning from snowboarding. Breakfast was lovely and home cooked. Location was wonderful - has a shuttle bus stop (G2 service from Pension Nonnel) that brings you directly to Escal Plaza within 2 minutes. Walking up is also possible (about 550m). Beds were comfortable, blankets were nice and soft. Perfect stay.
- Sarah (10/5): 10/10 would recommend to anyone going to Hakuba - It was so welcoming, cozy, family friendly, helpful and all around safe. Couldn’t recommend more Nothing ! Was amazing
- Beatrice (10/5): Comfortable, cosy and great location - We had the best time at Sejour Mint. Jon was very helpful and accomodating and went out of his way to help us with whatever we needed. Sasha and the rest of the team were also so lovely and helpful! The location was great, walking distance to the entry to Goryu and 47 and there are shuttle buses that take you to the rest of the valley. There is also a shuttle bus that can take you directly to goryu if you don’t want to walk. We visited Happo but found the area around Sejour Mint to be much more relaxing with much better restaurants and bars. Everything was clean and comfortable and we loved the communal vibe at breakfast in the morning. Will definitely be coming back! Nothing
- Lance (8/5): Very good -
- Chayanan (10/5): Exceptional - This accomodation is one of the best places I have ever stayed at. As soon as we walked through the doors we were met with a homely feeling, the owners are lovely and the staff that are working are so kind. We travelled as a family of four and the rooms had enough space to fit all of our luggage and to stay comfortably. I would love to return to Hakuba just to stay at this accomodation again.
- Megan (10/5): Exceptional - This gorgeous wooden cabin was a home away from home nice and small with minimal guests a family run business. John speaks fluent English and couldn't be more helpful if he tried and his wife is just the sweetest...we felt so welcome and feel like we made a new family ❤️ loved the onsen..Tattoo's allowed cloths are not, separate male and female onsen's I had it all to myself each afternoon. Free Breakfast was delicious and you get discounts for gear hire when you check in. Only short 400m walk to main ski resort.
- Golden (10/5): Warm and Charming stay right by Goryu - This is the most warm and welcoming place I have ever been. The owner is so kind and a wonderful host. His staff are cheerful, and engaging. It felt like staying at a fond family members home. We loved talking with other guests over the delicious breakfast each morning. You can walk to Goryu Ski lifts and multiple restaurants within minutes. We hope to come back again!
- Paul (9/5): Superb -
- Renee (10/5): Perfect location for skiing and snowboarding quick walk to ski lifts and gear hire. The closest ski resort is perfect fo - Comfortable rooms and very close to the gear hire and ski lifts. Has a bath house too which is perfect after a day on the mountain. The staff are super friendly and made us feel right at home. The owner Jon and his wife were so helpful with any questions we had. He even went out of his way to drop us off to the bus station after our stay which he didn’t have to do. We really enjoyed our stay here and would highly recommend to anyone looking to book a ski trip.
