Guest Reviews
- Lisa (10/5): Aurhentic farm experience - Terri (and Ralphie the cat) were exceptional. It felt like a true farm experience. We loved everything. The breakfast was excellent and mainly from the farm, Terri is so kind and always quick with a joke. And we wrre glad we rememebred our rubber boots. Terri gave us an amazing tour of the farm and meeting the animals.
- Marvin (10/5): - A cozy hotel. My children love the layout of each room. The owner is very friendly and the breakfast is delicious.
- Andrea (10/5): - Very lovely :) Terri is an excellent host and amazing cook!
- Ivy (10/5): - We had a wonderful stay at See Weed and Sod B&B! Terri, our host, went above and beyond with her warm hospitality, making us feel instantly at home. Each morning, she treated us to a delightful, homestyle breakfast that was both hearty and delicious—a perfect way to start our day.
The time spent with the animals made our stay even more memorable. Ralfie the cat was such a joy, Chewy’s friendly nature brightened our days, Fauna the farm dog was a lovely companion, and meeting Lady, the beautiful horse, was truly special.
We couldn’t have asked for a more welcoming experience. Thank you, Terri, Ralfie, Chewy, Fauna, and Lady, for making our stay unforgettable!
- Terry (10/5): - Terri was warm welcoming as was her home. Our room was lovely and clean with a comfy bed. An upstairs sitting area offered a fridge and coffee/tea maker. A delicious hearty breakfast with French press coffee got our day started. This is a charming old farmhouse off the beaten path with beautiful lake views.
- Dawn (10/5): - Very hospitable, excellent breakfast! Rooms very clean, comfortable and cute. Gravel road dusty, but worth going out of the way to get there!
- Colin (10/5): - We arrived as guests, and left feeling like we were leaving home.
My wife says, if we didn't have a dog waiting for us we wouldn't go back!
I'm not sure what else I could give as higher praise.
Yes, the drive out from the bottom of Kempt Head is a touch long, but the drive is a part of the journey and the road starts to feel like your driveway!
- Brigitte (10/5): - We had a wonderful stay. Terri is very warm and welcoming and we felt right at home. We had a great sleep and Terri’s homemade breakfast was delicious.
- Paul (10/5): - Off the beaten track but that’s what we found appealing. Very friendly, attentive and informative host.
- Emily (4/5): - The bed and breakfast was not as advertised.
When you book, you are booking the family suite which includes the two bedrooms. Upon arrival, I was charged an additional $25 in order to use the second bedroom. This is not acceptable and is a bait and switch.
The second issue is that when they say "pet friendly", they mean that they themselves have a cat on the property that is allowed in the bed and breakfast. Even after we mentioned we don't like cats, the cat remained in our space.
While the rooms are comfortable and mostly clean, there were cobwebs. The area around the house is very messy as another reviewer mentioned. It was not the picturesque location advertised.
- Ellen (10/5): - Terrible miss you and Ralphie already! What a magjcal place. Seanad coming through the window at night, cute animals everywhere, lots of room and privacy. I hope to see you again one day!
- Steven (10/5): - This was our first stay at a B&B. The owner was very hospitable. Our room was quaint and the bed was comfortable. The over all country charm was very nice. Breakfast was served at a time of our choosing. Would consider staying again.
- Pat (2/5): - We're not trying to be unkind only honest. The outside of this place is overgrown with junk sitting around. There is no AC upstairs where the bedroom is. It is about a 45 minute drive from Baddeck where we wanted to stay and the last part of it on a dirt road. We arrived at 7:15. Saw the looks of the place and couldn't believe it. We couldn't sleep or eat at a place that looked like that and be uncomfortably hot too. We cannot understand the high ratings. At that late hour we had to go find another place to stay which was another long drive after a tiring day. Also we couldn't see the water. It was across the road and trees blocked the view. It was a very disappointing and frustrating experience.
- Stuart (10/5): Off the beaten path but worth finding - Very nice, clean, friendly place. The Innkeeper, Terri, was charming and gave us great advice about places to go and, especially, good places to eat. She also prepares a great breakfast herself. The B and B is on a working farm, which we found interesting. A little out of the way, but worth it.
- Lorraine (10/5): One of the best stays EVER! - Could not have asked for more! Lovely quiet setting, with very loving crew of creatures great and small. Terri was a delight and served a full, fabulous breakfast. The place was in tip top shape.
- andre (10/5): Great experience. - Great host, excellent breakfast, and Terri made special considerations for my gluten-free dietary needs. Top noch.
- Alexandra (10/5): - Terri is quite hospitable and friendly. She adapted quickly to my dietary restrictions. Gave us wonderful recommendations of things to do in town and a lovely conversationalist.
Rooms are adorable, clean and comfy. Highly recommend.
- J (10/5): - This traditional Bed and Breakfast is great experience if you enjoy nature and crafts.
- anne (8/5): - If you like antiques and farm animals, this is the place for you! Lovely breakfast and great conversation. Only catch was we had to pay in cash, which we didn’t know ahead of time. Check in was 5:30 pm which is kind of late.
- Evelyn (10/5): - Great hospitality
- Ted and Lora (10/5): - Lovely space for guests. Warm welcoming hosts. Beautiful quiet area. Delicious breakfast. Clean and well appointed.
- Tracy (10/5): - We have a lovely stay and Terri’s breakfast was amazing.
The farm was picturesque.
The hostess is such fun to chat with and makes you feel right at home.
Book directly if you can, it’s a small business.
We will be back.
- Stefanie (8/5): - My only regret about choosing this stay was how far out of the way it was. The host was very nice and I loved getting to hang out with her cats and dog. The property was clean, quiet, and comfortable.
- Mark (10/5): - A real farm house B&B. Adults had a wonderful sleep in the comfy beds and kids loved the animals. We all had a yummy breakfast with warm hospitality. Highly recommended.
- Jeffrey (10/5): - This BnB has a lovely old country style with nice touches and taste with furniture and furnishings. Lots of spacious private areas to use apart from the bedroom area. If you are an animal lover, there are the most precious animals living here - including Ralphie - the ginger house cat. Breakfast was ample and tasty with lots of local ingredients (including eggs from the property’s chickens) The host is warm, welcoming and made us feel right at home with lovely conversations that made you want to stay longer than one night. If ever back in Cape Breton, it would definitely be on my list of places to stay again and to explore the area even more.
- DENNIS (10/5): - This was our 1st time at a B&B. It was great, enjoyable and the host was fantastic.
- Richard (8/5): - The hostess Terri is very personable and friendly, and we had a comfortable room. A few things to be aware of:
* The place is located about 30 minutes from the Cabot Trail and 20 minutes from any main road.
* "Pet friendly" means there are dogs and cats in the house.
* The bathroom is not off of the room.
- Jim (10/5): Cape Breton Holiday - Rural site with friendly people, a great view, comfortable room and good breakfast.
- Darren (10/5): - My 13 year old daughter and I had such a wonderful time at the Seaweed and Sod Farm Bed & Breakfast. Terri and Dave took the time to make us comfortable and ensure our stay was pleasant. Breakfast was AMAZING and the room was spacious and cute. The location was absolutely stunning. Our only regret was not staying longer. We will be back!
- Verified traveler (10/5): - Very peaceful
- Julie (10/5): - We stayed for 2 days, our family had a blast! The owners were very helpfull and kind. The property was perfect and the animals were very friendly and loved hugs!
- Sibylle (10/5): - This B&B is a little off the beaten path but so worth it for a restful, quiet stay that feels like a home away from home.
- Mark (10/5): - Great hosts! The farm animals are also so friendly. The rooms are beautiful. The house is perfect. And the view and sunsets are spectacular.
- Pavel (10/5): - I nice farmhouse with great rooms in a great lovely place.
- Anne (10/5): - Terri was an amazing host and fixed a wonderful breakfast for us. Loved the animals on the farm and the sweet room decorations.
- Verified traveler (6/5): - It was an active farm with nice view of the lake. Quite a long drive down a poor road to get to it. Shared bathroom. No reading lights near bed.
- Frank (6/5): - my wife was alergic to the cats, so we were able to stay one of the two nights
- Verified traveler (10/5): - Property has a cozy mix of new and old features. Bed was cozy, breakfast was delicious. Everything was clean and well kept. Terri and her household pets were warm and welcoming hosts.
- GordandMarg (10/5): - We had a great time, our host Terri was great, we were treated just like family. This B & B is a working farm, the house is a great old farmhouse, lots of antiques, yet well maintained and clean. The grounds are indicative of a working farm, the rooster woke us each morning, the turkeys and llamas are in the yard and the many dogs and cats demand sufficient attention. Overall, a great experience, highly recommended.
- Verified traveler (10/5): - It is a charming farm property in a beautiful setting. The hosts are very friendly and accommodating.
- Verified traveler (10/5): - Loved that it was a working farm setting. Place was immaculate and well appointed. Hosts wellmorganized but casual anc fun.
- CAROL (10/5): Sea and so much more. - the sweetest place ever. Like a home away from home. Friendly hosts, friendly pets, variety of farm animal. Amazing huge Percheron horses and the cutest little pony.
Great farm breakfast- all farm sourced, organic. Lovely room. Privacy.quiet.
Location is rural and beautiful. Wonderful walking and water views from house. Direct water access.
- debra (10/5): Awesome B and B, quiet and comfortable - Terri is a wonderful host. Perfect quiet location for a comfortable stay. Incredible delicious breakfast. Don't pass by because of the location, rural road is an enjoyable drive
- Verified traveler (10/5): - A charming bed and breakfast in a wonderful location. The hosts were very welcoming and friendly and the room was clean and comfortable.
- suzi (10/5): - lovely personal touches - very comfortable experience.
- Elizabeth&Terry (10/5): - Nice, friendly place. Owner Terri is awesome and very down to earth. This B & B is out of the way if one is going to do the Cabot Trail but it is well worth the extra drive. We highly recommend it.
- Colleen (8/5): - Tracy and Dave are very welcoming. A lovely retreat from the business of life!
- Katie (10/5): - Very nice place, lovely host and breakfast. Thank you!
- Bob (10/5): - Truly a home away from home. Very comfortable quiet and relaxing. Highly recommended
- Verified traveler (4/5): - We didn’t end up staying the night. We had misconceptions as to what to expect. We found it claustrophobic and tight in the home. The farm was very cluttered.
I’m sure that many people would enjoy this place and consider it cosy but it wasn’t for us.
- Lynne (10/5): A little Gem of the Beaten Path - Very nice and comfortable room with a wonderful bed/linens etc.
Very friendly and engaging hosts.
Great breakfast and conversations.
Would like to spend more time next visit.
- Verified traveler (10/5): Most charming B&B! - We had the best experience at this B&B! From the clean, comfortable beds to kindest hosts who made us a lovely breakfast. The on-site farmhouse has so many animals, including llamas!! If you want the local charm, this is the place to stay! Highly recommend!
- Jonathan (10/5): was on a farm. was close to the ocean. - We had a wonderful experience. Terri was very pleasant to talk with and she made a delicious breakfast as well.
