Guest Reviews

- Jonathan (8/5): Very good -
- Ling (8/5): Great location, clean and comfortable room. - Great location. Clean and comfortable room. Nothing.
- Luis (10/5): Best place to stay near Hiroshima station - Got a big room (coming as a solo traveler) since was the only available, still I think the price was good, front of station, got my own bathroom. Got a futon and western bed, honestly couldn't be more comfortable here. The staff is a Japanese couple so is a super traditional place, they are really nice and I don't get why people says what they say about the manager, yeah, he is serious but is his way to be, but not rude at all, and does his best to explain stuff even when he doesn't speak English at all Since the place is some old there's no elevator, maybe you will struggle if you bring big luggage, also for getting to the laundry machines you will have to climb up to the rooftop; I didn't care about that stuff but you may want to considerate
- Chen (10/5): wonderful - one day my glasses was broken and the owner give me a tape to fix my glasses for free.i was very grateful for this guy.
- Johan (9/5): Great location - Excelent location, close to the Station and various other points of interest

- Tighearnan (7/5): Reasonably Priced Ryokan - Price
Location
Cleanliness
Lady of the house very friendly Futon a tad hard.
Midnight curfew
- Alexander (8/5): Nice traditional rooms in a good location near the station in Hiroshima -
- Jose (8/5): - The staff was kind and the area has walkable access to many historical attractions.
- Kenny (7/5): Good location - area narrow stairs for big luggage
- Dirk (5/5): The guy running the ryokan never heard about the famous Japanese Omotenashi! Awful. -
- Clara (7/5): Good -
- Kocha (8/5): Very good - Nice little ryokan not far from Hiroshima station. Owner is not English speaking, but Google translate helped. Rooms are small, but for one person it is quite good, especially for that price. Coin laundry is available on the roof. Only cash accepted.
Shared toilet and shower.
- Nathan (8/5): Great place and very good value for money - Amazing ryokan, large place for singe (even for a couple), great facilities, very clean.
Above all it is very silent, located in a great place close to the hiroshima train station (10 min walk) and to great sightseeing places.
Also the host is nice and considerate.
- Elisabeth (5/5): Passable - Very good location near the train station Owner didn't react to questions I sent him via booking.com before my stay
Bed is very uncomfortable compared to other traditional japanese beds
There is only one shower for the whole house and only one modern toilet (the other two are the whole-in-the-ground type)
- Veronica (10/5): Exceptional - The ryokan is close to the train station.
The room was very spacious, and the futons and pillows were great for sleeping.
The robes for wearing indoors were really nice. No vegetarian options for breakfast.
Shared bathroom.
- Arthur (10/5): Great Ryokan experience - Great Roykan experience. Clean, quiet, good location to get around in Hiroshima.
- Dennis (8/5): Very good - - Very good breakfast, as Japanese as it can get.
- Owners were nice enough, keep in mind it is a traditional Japanese-styled inn so some rules need to be followed.
- Very close to Hiroshima JR Station.
- Good value for money, nice green tea and candy when you first arrive at the room.
- Wi-Fi was on 24/7 when I was there, but I had to ask the owners for the password first. - Sheets could've been a bit cleaner.
- Alison (8/5): Traditional, good value, convenient location. - The breakfast was traditional Japanese style and was delicious. A Japanese guest was also raving about the delicious miso soup. The couple were very kind and friendly. I wanted my daughter to see what a Japanese house is like. This accommodation provided that. Option for an evening meal as the lady’s food was so tasty.
- Kylie (7/5): Good - Close to Hiroshima train station. Beds were comfortable , pillows were harder than use to but ok. Would have been tight if the 4 of us filled the room but we had 2 per room that slept 4. No wifi for kids. There was no kettle or a way to boil water for making tea. Nothing to hang jackets or jumpers on to dry from rain. Shoes got wet from rain and had to leave downstairs and didn't dry.
- Jennifer (8/5): Very good -
- Gilles (9/5): Superb - The kindness of the ryokan people and the open air baths. Also, the transportation from the railway station to the ryokan. Given the attention paid to every detail, finding negative comments will end up very artificial.
- Lucia (10/5): I wanted to stay in a very local place and this one was good. fortunately they had two options - The location was excellent for us. the owner help us allowing us to leave our luggage before checking time. language was a bit a problem but we managed satisfactory. bedsheets were clean. Bathroom a bit small but for one night was okay. a bit more thee and water for coffee in the room will give a plus.
- Frances (10/5): Exceptional -
- Lanc (10/5): Exceptional - Waking distance to station and the peace park.
All as described online. Quiet too.
- Alain (9/5): Superb - I was expecting a room with futon, but got a bed instead.
- Luis (8/5): Very good - Very close to Hiroshima station. It is practical if you plan a single-day trip to Miyajima, and need to leave your luggage after the check-out.
They welcome me with green tea in my room. Employees didn't speak English but they were very patient trying to explain things and using Google translate
- Justin (6/5): Good value, settling on room quality. - Cheap stay and good location. Stay was fine and I don’t regret it. Got an American style room instead of Japanese style. Was an ok stay. Very uncomfortable pillow, but stay was fine, like a cheap motel. Reception didn’t speak English, but that’s somewhat expected and fine.
- Mika (10/5): Exceptional -
- Marc (7/5): Good -
- Sophia (9/5): Lovely host, very nice Japanese Ryokan experience! - The location of the hostel is perfect just a few minutes on foot from the train station and the busy area of Hiroshima. The owner is extremely nice and very helpful even though he does not speak a lot of English. He allowed me to switch rooms after a night when I was not too happy with my first one, gave me a Japanese plug for the outlets and was very nice in general.
I was looking for a not-too-expensive Japanese Ryokan to get this experience and this has definitely been what I was looking for! Bamboo mat, green tea and floor seating! The first room I stayed in didn’t have a real bamboo mat but a synthetic one. When I asked the owner if I could change rooms he helped me move my things from one to the other. The second room was perfect!
- Karen (9/5): Superb - Didn’t get breakfast
- Draffin (3/5): Poor -
- Douglas (4/5): Convenient location. Impersonal and minimal facilities. - The location is great. 5 minutes from the train station and about a 20 minute walk to downtown. Very close to a river and places to sit on a bench and watch the world go by. If you have a room in the back, it is very quiet. Your room is cleaned every day with empty trash and new towel, etc. Good price for Hiroshima stay. There is a midnight curfew and then the outside door is locked with no access which they do not mention in the literature. The Wi-fi only worked about half the time, which I brought to the owner's attention, but nothing was done. There is one shower on the bottom floor that the entire ryokan must share, which is more of a sit down on a stool onsen type shower. They allow smoking in the hallways and the bathrooms, so even if you book a non-smoking room, it still smells like smoke. The futon in the single Japanese rooms is very thin (I have never slept on a thinner one). The gentleman working the reception was the most unfriendly person I have met on my travels. He was very reluctant to engage (even when I spoke to him in Japanese) and even an おはようございます received only a grunt in the morning.
- Rjdrew86 (10/5): Exceptional -
- Bridget (8/5): Very good - Breakfast was amazing. The bed was comfy and the room a decent size for one person. The wifi was patchy.
- Paula (6/5): Pleasant -
- Huw (7/5): Quiet room in good central location - Convenient location. Quiet room. Clean facilities. Indifferent receptionist. Not smiley. Not welcoming
- morris (4/5): Horrible and rude service, never again. - Not recommended. I've stayed at ten different hotels over my 4 trips to Japan and this was the weirdest and worst by far. I'm not a picky traveler and the the physical conditions of the hotel were fine, but the service was horrible and uncharacteristic of Japan.
The staff/owner first made it seem like my arrival was inconveniencing him. He didn't allow me to use a credit card even though it's listed as accepting it and all the visa signs displayed at the front desk. Made me go get cash and treated me like he was doing me a favor.
He didn't give me the WiFi password and when I did finally go back ask for it, the wifi didn't work. It was out for a day and the other guests were complaining about it too.
The next day I couldn't leave the hotel in the morning (11am) as the front door was locked. I had to wait there until he finished his walk and unlocked it with a key and he made it seem again he was doing me a favor.
As I was checking out the day after and asking about possibly leaving a bag there for a couple of hours, all he cared about was getting the key back. And he refused to let me leave a bag there. Not a surprise really.
Mattress was flat from overuse, thin walls, lots of noise in the hallways, someone repeatedly peed all over the toilet seat. All of those were not a big deal to me, but the horrible service and locking me in makes me never want to come here again. 0/5 stars.
(5/5): Passable -
- Krista (5/5): Passable - Location was great, price was great. The room stinks. It doesn't get aired out often enough.
- Jonathan (7/5): Good -
- Allyn (5/5): Breakfast made up for the stairs, everything was very clean, and close to the train station. - Taxis were nearby and good restaurants also. Stairs. Shower was on another floor.
- Anonymous (10/5): Exceptional - very friendly staff and made us feel welcomed
- Chris (2/5): - IMPORTANT: Very risky pick. I never got the room i booked. When i got to the hotel, it was CLOSED!!! no notice, no nothing. There was a sign in the window saying to call them so i did. 5 times. Never answered. I rang, i waited, nothing. I had to go get another hotel. I sent them an email, they saw it and they didn't reply. Book at your own risk. If you want to make sure to have a place to sleep, do not go there.
- Verified traveler (8/5): Good location - Very convenient, near Hiroshima station.
- Verified traveler (4/5): -
- Verified traveler (8/5): Comfortable one night stay - Great area for access to Hiroshima station. Staff was very helpful. Room was clean and comfortable and the shared bathroom and shower were clean.
- Mark (8/5): Handy & Comfortable hotel - The hotel is a short walk from Hiroshima station and is easy to find. Most places you would want to visit are within 30 minutes walk (Peace Park and Museum for example).
The shower is shared between the guests, but I didn't encounter any issues with that.
The ryokan itself and room were spotless. Large western style bed, which was very comfortable.
- wengcheongc (10/5): warmly and kindly Japanese style hotel - the hotel near the hiroshima station, just 12 min by walk you can arrived, the staff both warm and kind, but just can speak japanese. they prepare snack and tea inside the room. the room was japanese style and it's big enough and clean, TV,AC and refrigerator are available. in the room not have shower and toilet, the shower at ground floor, there have a public bathtub inside. this hotel it's satisfy for one night stay.
- 363Timmyg (2/5): Horrible! - This place was a nightmare. The beds were full of pubic hair and the sheets covered in some type of bodily discharge. The owner/manager has what appears to be OCD, peering around corners and/or suddenly appearing on the other side of a door you’ve just opened where he’s been standing motionless. He also demands that you go to bed early. You’ve been warned.
- mennov218 (4/5): Basic, but close to station - After deciding to stay a second night in Hiroshima, my hotel was booked and I had to go to another location. I ended up going to Tenryu Ryokan, as it was close to the station and thus a good base for an early start next day.
It is more a simple hotel (minshuku) than a Ryokan. Rooms are clean but basic, with common toilets and bathroom, again basic but clean. My room overlooked a blind wall and was thus nog very nice. There was an early closing time so no late going to the nice bars of Hiroshima.
The owner did not speak English, and was not very enthusiastic but did provide fair service. Price was steep compared to the room, service and location.
