• Benjamin (10/5): Incredible experience - If you book to stay here you are not just booking accomodation but also booking an experience. We loved staying here. It was a fantastic experience for us. We enjoyed making matcha and cooking on a traditional grill. We also loved the traditional bath.

• Eiko (10/5): 最高でした！ - Welcomeドリンク的な感じでお抹茶を用意してくださっていて、体験も出来て、用意してあった囲炉裏でお餅が焼けるように用意してくださっていて、着いて早々、子供たちも大興奮でした。 更に 翌朝焼きたてのパンが食べられるように、ホームベーカリーもセットしてくださり、サービスの良さに感激しました。 お風呂も広々としていて気持ち良かったです。 １階のトイレが和式だった事と、キッチンの流しの所にネットがセットされていたのですが、流れが少し悪く、洗い物の時にちょっと苦労しました。

• Barbara (10/5): Highlight of our stay! - This is such a special place. Everything was amazing - from the welcoming host, the roasted mochi and matcha tea, steaming hot bath to the ofuro. The host thought of everything - there are English instructions for all parts of the house, tea and coffee available and fresh bread in the morning. The location is a little out of the way, in a quiet residential neighborhood, but the train is a 2 minute walk away. This is not a hotel so you won't find fluffy beds, but the house is unique and comfortable and it was the highlight of our Japan stay. Nothing!

• Warangkhana (8/5): - The owner was very lovely and polite, he prep matcha tea for welcoming us also offering fresh bread making in the morning for our breakfast but my family were very tired from a long day travelling and activities we did in the area, we just want to sleep in so we had to miss out on that. House was clean. The bath was the highlight for us. Just the tap in both toilets a bit hard to operate so we had to wash our hands in the bathroom instead.

Der Gastgeber war sehr zuvorkommend. - Der Gastgeber hat uns zum Check-In ein Gastgeschenk überreicht, während der Room-Tour Matcha angeboten und zubereitet und hat uns für den nächsten Morgen Brot gebacken. Außerdem war die Unterkunft sehr sauber. Die Einrichtung ist sehr traditionell gehalten. (Sofern wir das beurteilen können).

Host was excellent at explaining anything we had questions about. Kids really got into the experience with the traditional bath and making tea and grilling mochi over coals at the table.

• Kassia (9/5): Definitely recommend! - Beautiful property, the host was so welcoming and helpful. When we arrived, we had good communication with the host and at the property he prepared some green tea for us and gave us helpful info. He was friendly and kind. If I was being picky, the location was slightly far out from the main areas of Kyoto, however it was a lovely area with restaurants etc.
• Ran (10/5): Exceptional - My wife chose this place because of all the amazing reviews she read about Hiro — and he absolutely lived up to the hype. In fact, the entire place exceeded our expectations. If I could give a rating higher than 10, I gladly would. From the moment we arrived, Hiro greeted us with a warm smile and even allowed us to check in early. He helped carry our (many!) suitcases — not a small task, considering we were six people on a trip through Japan for over a month. He gave us great local restaurant recommendations, and when we opened the fridge on our first night, we were surprised with a delicious strawberry cake and a personalized note — such a thoughtful touch. Every evening, Hiro came by to prepare the bread maker for the next morning. That freshly baked bread was a hit with everyone — I’d love to get the recipe! The space itself is beautifully designed, incredibly spacious, and full of thoughtful details. And I say this as someone who usually doesn’t notice the small things — but here, I did. The bathroom is huge, the room was cleaned daily, and the kids' room was set up in a way that gave each child their own space and privacy. The location is right next to a train station, though we had a car so we didn’t use it — but it’s great to have the option. In short, an unforgettable stay. Hiro, thank you for everything!
• Adrian (10/5): Amazing traditional Japan experience - Amazing traditional experience blended with modern. The fire pit in the middle of the table in the living room was amazing. The host came by every day and took care of us. Downstairs toilet was a squatting toilet
• Rym (10/5): Exceptional - This was my second time staying at this lovely guest house in Kyoto, and it was just as magical as the first. This time, I brought my daughter along, and we were both enchanted. The traditional Japanese house made us feel like we’d stepped right into one of our beloved mangas. The host is simply wonderful, so kind and welcoming. He made us feel truly at home, from the calming Japanese tea to the delicious freshly baked bread each morning. A perfect blend of comfort, culture, and hospitality. We really hope to be back again!

The host provided us with a small matcha making lesson and also warm, fresh bread in the morning. The traditional Japan aesthetic was also amazing. It was slightly far from main attractions but it was okay.

• Gabriel (10/5): The host was exceptional and - It was very authentic and cosy, has a simple practical kitchen for breakfast, the rooms were very nice and close together, the common room is very welcoming with a small fireplace, and a fire for tea. Hi to the host was adorable and made us feel very at home, exceptionally making an effort to speak to us in English, very patient and more than willing to give many recommendations. Even though we were initially skeptical of the distance from the city center, the experience was so exceptional it was worth it. Hiro welcomed us with matcha he made himself, showing us the ritual of a tea ceremony, as well as leaving marshmallows for the kids to burn around the fire. He constantly cared for us, brought candles for my husbands birthday and stayed for a bit to celebrate. Would 100% recommend A bit far from the center to Kyoto.
• Florian (9/5): Very nice - The Bath was a Dream. A wooden japanese Bathtub full of hot water, already filled in when we arrived, was really relaxing after a long and stressful flight. Also the fresh bread was really nice. Very nice owner. The nearby train Station was very clearly audible in the evening/night.
• Margie (10/5): Exceptional - Outstanding, I stayed here for a conference at the Kyoto International Conference Centre. It was a perfect location for the conference Centre, there were multiple buses within about 2 minutes walking, as well as a local train line. The house itself was wonderful and very comfortable. It is a very efficient use of space and very comfortable for four adults. I easily would have handled a few more. Hiro, the host, was lovely, very attentive. The bread and tea in the morning was a very nice touch. It is a traditional Japanese home with many nice little touches, and the hot tub was great! It is not in a tourist area so local restaurants are very affordable and tasty. I highly recommend Hiro's house!

• Nicholas (10/5): Amazing Japanese town house with an outstanding host. - The property was a spacious and traditional Japanese town house close to a tram station, beautiful park and amazing gardens and temples. It was only a 20 min tram journey to the heart of central Kyoto. Our host Hiro was outstanding. He welcomed us with a tea ceremony at the sunken dining room table complete with fitted charcoal pit. He also made sure the wooden bath was full every night before we got back. The bath was amazing! The bedrooms were traditional mattresses on soft Japanese flooring. It was very comfortable but getting down and up took some getting used to! No down sides but perhaps not a house for the infirm.

• Yang (10/5): A hidden gem that is full of surprises. - The place is full of surprises, i.e. onsite onsen, freshly made bread for breakfast, local grocery/convenience store, charcoal grill in the middle of living room and many more. Hiro San (the host) is super nice, and he would think ahead of you and get it done before you even make the ask. It's a nice place for a family size between 4~7.
• Nikki-raye (10/5): Phenomenal accommodation with a Phenomenal host♡ - The accommodation was phenomenal. An old-style home with the best living area, bath, and shower room that was close to a convenience store and train station. Our host (Hiro-san) was the shining star of our stay. He would come each day to clean/wash sheets and towels, put on a bread to bake, and be ready/fresh for us each morning at a predetermined time. He would also fill our onsen bath so that it was full and ready for us at the end of each day. We all feel blessed and honoured to have been able to meet such an amazing man and stay in such a beautiful home. We will 110% be staying at Yadoya any time we come back to Japan. We wish we could stay longer!!

Very good for family, would never go there without renting the entire unit. Living room without windows (but good air conditioning and nice room for having family dinner as a change after many restaurants). Localization OK even though a bit outside main Kyoto’s hotspots.

• Cheng (10/5): Perfect getaway, impeccable host, worth it. - The first night, the host came at check-in time and put a fire in the hearth. Then he served tea and snacks. The open air onsen was really good too. I would put the name of the place Irorian Yadoya. This is accurate place.
