- David (10/5): Top class hotel - Location Stairs
- Lynn (9/5): -
- Karen (8/5): Centraal gelegen met goed ontbijt - Centrale locatie. Prima ontbijt. Lekker bed. Het was heel warm op onze kamer. En dat terwijl het buiten maar 22 graden was. Een airco lijkt mij een must.
- julie (8/5): Excellent location for a visit to Chester - The hotel is in an ideal location in the centre of Chester.
All of the staff were very friendly and helpful and couldn't do enough for us.
The breakfast was great, there was a lot of choice and it was very reasonably priced. There were no sockets anywhere near mirrors or the dressing table.
There was an extension lead near the back of the bed which we moved to be able to use a hairdryer. When we moved the bed we found a pair of earrings and a bottle lid and the electrical socket was unsafe.
It was difficult having a shower, possibly due to the building being old, it appeared that every time someone else turned their tap on the water went cold.
The bed was quite uncomfortable as it was 2 singles pushed together. Also the quilt was very thin, although I know some people may be happy with this.
There was very little lighting in the room
- Jones (8/5): Amazing thank you - Was nice and tidy To much starts haha
- Mike (10/5): -
- Samantha (9/5): Lovely little hotel. - Beautiful little hotel, great central location. Everything we needed in the room, good breakfast available to add on. All the staff we interacted with were very friendly and helpful. There’s a free to use pool table, mini golf and board games, a really nice little touch to wind the day down. Our bathroom was a little bit on the smaller side with the sink sitting on top of the back of the toilet, but for what we paid I thought it was a creative use of space and we have no complaints. Comfy bed, nice view from room. We loved our stay here and would recommend.

- Rodger (10/5): Beautiful Chester - Close to the city centre, we could walk everywhere and see all the sites of Chester, which was fantastic. All good

- Neil (9/5): - Lovely stay
Really friendly staff Small issue with window
- paul (10/5): -
- Ryan (10/5): Perfect location for the races - The room was plenty big enough for 2 people offering a double and a single bed. The bathroom was a little on the small side though. Location for the races was perfect, about a 10min walk.
Breakfast was really good with plenty of options and quality ingredients.
- Heba (10/5): -
- Malcolm (6/5): Adequate - Location very good, staff very friendly and helpful; No on site parking and decor and hotel generally dated. Shower quite small and sleep disturbed due to in room phone intermittently lighting up during the night.
- Tony (8/5): - Location was wonderful , staff were really friendly and good A toilet and sink combination which didn’t suit my palette,
- Deb (9/5): Great city centre location. Staff very friendly and helpful. Nice room - Location. Staff

Breakfast was really good Bedroom quite tiny but ok for a night maybe two
No sound proofing in bedroom could hear telly in nex room as if it was in ours and the other bedroom could hear the snoring as if they were under our bed
Couldn’t have a shower the water was too hot even on the lower setting
- Tracy (10/5): -
- Vicky (10/5): Great stay! - Breakfast was great, good value. Staff were brilliant! Location, perfect 👌
- Alec (8/5): Great central location - Amazing location
- Fran (9/5): -
- DAVID (10/5): - The whole experience was a pleasure. Nothing
- Gareth (6/5): - Location was great. The horrible smell coming from the bathroom wasn't nice and caused a bad smell right throughout the room itself. Tried to open the window but that was broken so it wouldn't stay open.p
- Samina (9/5): - Great location in the centre of town but on a quiet road.
- John (9/5): A lovely few days in beautiful Chester. - Easy walk into the heart of the city. Friendly staff . Nice birthday gesture for my wife. Very good breakfast choices. Shower temperature could have been hotter.
- Brian (10/5): Thumbs up 👍 - Really easy to get to the hotel from Chester station. Close to all historic sites. Very comfortable and relaxing stay. Had absolutely no issues at all. Had everything we needed
- Amanda (9/5): Very good value guest house. - Location ideal for the city centre. Friendly staff, brilliant breakfast included in our price. Cold foods, then a hot cooked breakfast to order. Comfortable beds and clean. Friendly, helpful staff.
- Joanne (5/5): It was ok but I’ve have much better for the money - Good location
Nice breakfast Bathroom was tiny
Needs some tlc
- Martin (8/5): A cosy city break in a great location - Lovely rooms at top of the hotel and delicious breakfast plus perfect location. nothing
- Katharine (8/5): Good spot for a city break - Good location in the city centre.
Nice quiet dog friendly room.
Clean.
Good facilities.
No parking on site, but Little Roodee car park is close and very reasonably priced. The shower cubicle was small.
The room was hot and the window wouldn't stay open.
Bottled water in the room would be a nice touch.
- Marika (8/5): Very comfortable, enjoyable & great location- we will use this accomodation again. - Great location, also nice to have just one price to pay for the room with 3 staying over. Also, nice to have a bar & outdoor sitting area. No car park, but not a problem with a car park near by for overnight parking, at a reasonable price.
- alun (10/5): - Stayed here while working away. Very friendly and welcoming staff. Comfy and spacious rooms. They even prepared breakfast an hour early for us as we were leaving early each morning. In a good location in the middle of the city.
- Sheila (9/5): Fabulous friendly hotel for our short stay - Great hotel, will certainly stay again Stairs and steps but due to the nature of the building unavoidable
- Julie (10/5): -
- simon (6/5): I’d stay again if there was nothing else in the area - The location The room was small and the shower was poor
I thought it was expensive for what you get
- Woodcock (8/5): Good central location - Good breakfast
- Jaanika (8/5): Modern rooms great city centre location - Clean modern rooms. Good value. Windows can be opened for fresh air. Very warm in the room. All the team are very friendly. N/a all good, would stay again
- raymond (8/5): - Superb breakfast, great location They can improve water pressure in shower
- Jamie (7/5): -
- David (8/5): - Location, quiet, tasteful. Staff efficient.
- Clair (8/5): Great will - Great location, great breakfast and lovely staff Room was slightly cold and dusty in areas
- Rachel (10/5): Brilliant property and staff - What a gem of a property! We booked 3 rooms in total including the Party Pad which was incredible. We also had 2 dogs and nothing was too much trouble, there was a dog bed and water bowl waiting for them. All the staff were brilliant including the night manager, and a big shout out to the lady at breakfast…she was so attentive. We will definitely stay again should we find ourselves in Chester.
- Emily (7/5): -
- Diane (8/5): Very comfortable and great for an over night stay. Bathroom small but very stylish - Location was excellent. Staff on front desk very helpful and informative The ventilation was not very good as unable to open a window so room was very stuffy. I think staying in the summer months may be too hot
- Toby (8/5): -
- Ellis (7/5): Pleasant and good for centre of Chester - Lovely and clean, comfortable bed, no noise from the busy street Please please put soft closers on the room doors. We were woken twice by the slamming of room doors. We understand that they are fire doors and need to close firmly, but the slamming shut is very disturbing.
We could also hear people talking in the next room to us, so acoustic boarding would stop this.
- Rosamond (7/5): The staff and breakfast were excellent. The hotel was quiet which we appreciated . - We liked the proximity to the town, the river and good restarants. Good breakfast. The stairs were very steep and there was no lift. Our rooom was changed to the second floor when the receptionist noticed our advanced years. That still left us several flights.
The water in the shower was scaldingly hot so we could not use it.
The bathroom arrangement was strange -with the lavatory pan protruding out from below the hand basin o we could not reach the basin easily. It was a tiny space hence the odd arrangement.
- Chris (10/5): - Great
- Frank (6/5): We had a nice stay, good location, good breakfast and friendly staff - The breakfast was very good, a good selection of pastries and fruit, and a good choice of hot food.
Location was within easy walking of Chester town center Bathroom was a little on the small side
- Chris (10/5): -
- Brian (9/5): -
- Geraint Wyn (8/5): Very good. - Nice hotel, well maintained, clean, comfortable and convenient. Excellent breakfast. Bedroom could have done with a second chair
- Celia (8/5): Good for a short stay - Great location, very clean , comfy bed Room ( at back of hotel) was a bit dark
- Carole (8/5): -
- Edward (10/5): - Excellent
- Wacko 20 (5/5): - The location The shower scalded my foot .Informed them nothing was done .Window wouldn't close and heating not great /freezing because walked in to room and it was so cold .
- Mike (10/5): -
- Connor (10/5): -
- Bob (10/5): Excellent - Great location, Professional Staff.
Spotless Nothing
- Iuliia (10/5): -
- Rosemary (9/5): - Excellent staff. Clean and comfortable.
- James (7/5): -
- Ward (10/5): Excellent - It is in the centre of Chester and really close by to all shopping/sites/restaurant’s!
The rooms are exceptional and well maintained, the staff are wonderful and there to help for any needs!
Everything was great! As it is based in a townhouse, there is no lifts available to the higher rooms so it can be a bit of a hike up the stairs🤣 however this is a minor minor complaint but something to be aware of for those with limited mobility!
- Tony (10/5): Perfect location - Lovely period building All good
- Clare (10/5): Comfortable and enjoyable! - Its location was great and a short walk to the nearby car park was fine. Our room was on the top floor and prior reviews talked about the steep stairs but I am not the fittest person and found them ok. It was a bonus being on the top floor as we didn’t have any noise from anyone above us. We were at the back of the hotel and had a peaceful night despite it being a Saturday. We arrived early and our rooms were ready and we were able to check in early, which was perfect, thank you. The staff were very friendly and knowledgeable about the area. Thanks for a lovely stay. Wouldn’t hesitate staying again and would recommend if stairs and a walk to the parking isn’t an issue for you. No parking but already knew this wasn’t available so realised we would have to park off site.
- Mike (10/5): -

I stayed top floor, shower was still powerful.
Very comfy bed in a large space. Nil
- Shirley (10/5): Everything you need wrapped up in a most beautiful period property! 🌟 - Everything. We cannot fault it at all! Wonderful old building, immaculately decorated, fabulous location, engaging and welcoming owners, tasty, full cooked English breakfast. Was perfect for a getaway which we desperately needed! Definitely want to return. Thank you dear proprietors. Dave & Shirl 👍 Nothing.

- kazclifton (10/5): Lovely hotel - Lovely hotel in the heart of Chester.
All staff were very helpful, welcoming and friendly!

Well done Nicola and team.
We’ll be back.
- Karen (9/5): -
- Tracey (9/5): Overall would definitely stay here again. - Great location. Lovely size room, clean and lovely toiletries in bathroom. Great breakfast.
- Nicky (9/5): Fab - Old features and location No lift but that’s due to the age of property and it would spoil the look of the building x
- CHRISTINE (10/5): - Everything. The owner was lovely she made us feel so welcome. Paul (I think his name was, he told us to refer to him as the "Bald one). 😁 was also lovely and friendly.
The Townhouse Hotel is one of the best hotels I have stayed in. If you are looking for somewhere to stay in Chester, than this is the perfect place to stay Nothing
- Iwan (10/5): -
- Joseph (3/5): Poor stay, bad facilities and no where near worth the money - the hotel seems famous for its summer garden but better of - The bed was comfy and it was close to the centre of town The bathroom was tiny, sink was so small that you couldn’t even wash your face. It’s like a caravan bathroom and not suitable for a hotel. The floors were creaky and people woke us up in the rock next door. There was stains on the bed sheets and even though promised 50% off parking in 2 locations they said 1 when I got there (after parking at the other location) and then to make it worse when I moved the car the “discount” ticket they gave me did not even work! And I paid the full price for parking anyway, poor organisation for a hotel that charges £280 for 2 nights 😅 the stairs are also a joke, so many to get to your room and it’s like a maze to get up there. The wardrobe is like a piece of wood with an ikea mirror next to it, comparing to other hotels in the area it’s super low quality.
- Jonathan (7/5): Brilliant location, friendly staffs - Location, pool table and nice reception area for drinks and chill A bit pricey; ceiling slanted in the family room; and narrow stairs to room makes it difficult for large luggages
- Carol (8/5): Weekend in Chester - Comfortable bed, good breakfast, sleeping mat and food bowls for dog in the room
