Guest Reviews
- Frederick (9/5): -
- Peter (5/5): - Nice clean room. Comfortable bed and excellent food. Noisy air-conditioner, leaky shower, no hot water.
- Lynette (9/5): - Plenty of room. Friendly staff. Ckean facilities
- Paul (10/5): We would stay again - Good country pub accommodation with excellent staff and service Nothing
- Jeanette (10/5): Perfect - Great location, beautiful building, lovely people
- Leanne (10/5): -
- Geoff (7/5): Enjoyed my stay. Pub has great character. - Dinner food specials were varied and large portions. Hot water pressure and temperature could have been better.
- Alex (10/5): -
- Bryan (8/5): -
- Joey (10/5): Other than that it was perfect - It had a lounge room as well Air con was flooding the room at one stage
- Kaylee (7/5): Affordable place to stay - Room 5 was great with plenty of space across two rooms (living room/kitchenette and bedroom). Everything that we used worked well. Cleanliness in the communal bathroom (only used the first one - opposite Room 2) - the grouting was awful, it looked mouldy, there was dust and grime on the lip running along the wall in the toilet.
The content of the fridge was questionable with food well outside its use by date (left by other guests presumably). Lack of security - anyone could walk in off the street up the stairs and into the property (the pub was closed for the public holiday). No one was onsite except guests which we felt uneasy about.

- Matt (10/5): Not the first time I have stayed and won’t be the last- awesome spot - It is a classic country pub with good size clean and comfy rooms and you can store your bike in your room. Good meals too. Nil
- Emma (10/5): -
- Nilsson (8/5): Good for $100 - Location The back stairs were very hard to get up
- Andrew (8/5): - Clean, friendly and good food Nothing in particular
- Loraine (7/5): Just small changes would have improved our visit. It shows attention to detail. - Lovely meal in the evening in the restaurant, also coffee in the shop next door. The bed was very comfortable. It would really be appreciated if someone had thought to turn on the air-conditioner before we arrived, as most hotels do. We were very hot and the room was hot too. Although the air-conditioner worked eventually, it would’ve been much more comfortable to get settled in with cooler temperatures.
I had deliberately filtered on Booking.com to make sure we had our private bathroom, and once again, (this was our second visit), we didn’t get one, despite booking the most expensive room. We also discovered a much better bathroom further up the hall and didn’t get the chance to use that. It’s a long time since I’ve had to stand in a bath for my shower and struggle with a plastic shower curtain!

- Gracen (8/5): Great place to stay in Toogoolawah - spacious rooms - Great room size and location Not exceptionally clean and bathroom is a bit dated
- Finbar (10/5): One of the highlights of our trip, great value and everything was perfect. - Beautiful building, great facilities Nothing, it was perfect
- Dave (8/5): -
- Melissa (10/5): - Location is beautiful locals are very welcoming and friendly
- Stephen (4/5): -

- Damien (10/5): -
- Jim (6/5): The room and ensuite were basic but ok. Staff were great. - The room needs a powerpoint at the kitchenette for the electric jug. The inconvenient location of the existing powerpoints.
- Miranda (6/5): Lovely room - Terrible service - The room was lovely, clean, comfy and spacious I rang all morning to ask about late check in and no answer. Finally someone answered, put me on hold for 10 mins and then hung up. When I finally got through she asked me to pay and said the keys would be in the doors for the late check in. When we arrived no keys. Luckily we caught the staff just before they left. The breakfast did not include cereal and the bread was stale. When I asked about breakfast were pretty rude.
- Alexander (9/5): -
- michael (10/5): great place an better value - everything nothing to dislike
- Swan (8/5): I will go back again - It was a pleasant stay, the room and meals were great. I like the continental breakfast and it was included in the price which is very competitive Nothing really, if I had to say something here it would have been great to a have a bed lamp, but not really an issue
- Trevor (8/5): Friendly and welcoming staff comfortable bed - Great location in the town centre, large room comfortable bed, friendly staff Room was a bit warm on arrival and fridge not on, took a while for both to cool down
- Leanne (8/5): - Most comfortable bed ever slept on. Very spacious, enjoyable meals in dining room. Disappointed in breakfast menu, just white bread and spreads.
- Jessica (8/5): Great budget option accomodation in a small country town - Well presented pub style accommodation. No bathrooms in rooms but clean shared bathrooms just down the hall. Bed was comfy and the meals we purchased at the hotel were probably the best pub feed I’ve ever had. No curtains over the glass pane above the verandah door meant a very early wakeup with the 4.45am sunrise.
- Duane (9/5): -
- JULIAN (10/5): Great place to stay - Fabulous pub with accomodation and helpful staff.
Very good food in the restaurant All good 👍
- Denise (8/5): Lovely country pub accommodation. - Family room had plenty of space and access to verandah. After hours access was by steep outside stair case.
- Loraine (10/5): Like being in your grandmother’s comfortable home. - Sick of staying in bland ordinary motels? Stay here and it feels like you are in a listed property with real old-fashioned atmosphere. I loved it and will certainly come back again one day. The coffee shop next door is amazing and the food in the restaurant is great. That I couldn’t stay longer!
- Carol-HHH (9/5): - Good location. Old Queensland pub.
- Erin (9/5): -

- Rob (8/5): - Great experience in old pub Back stairs
- James (8/5): - Location was great for access to BVRT. Self serve breakfast on 1st morning was non existent. No supplies.
- John (10/5): - It’s a great property for the room rate you pay .
- David (7/5): Would definitely stay again. - Great location.
Hotel was a typical country Hotel, great charm and cold beers.
5 of us had dinner in house. Was reasonably priced and very, very good.
Rooms were good and clean. We(group of 5) had what we considered an interrupted night s sleep. 2 ladies were in one of the upper level bathrooms carrying on till all hours of the night. No management intervention. And we were uncomfortable addressing the noise, smoking and language these persons were making.
Otherwise a great stay.
- Robin (9/5): - Beautiful old pub with very comfortable rooms , the bed was very comfortable and nice to have your own bathroom ..
- Brian (10/5): - just had a really enjoyable stay.
- Joanne (8/5): Great location - Bed was very comfortable and the facilities were very clean. Well stocked kitchenette with everything you need The door handles were a little noisy and trying to be quiet to open and close your door was an effort

- Graeme (10/5): - Great old pub
- Diana (10/5): - Value for money
- clifford (9/5): - Enjoyed the balcony overlooking Toogoolawah. Limited breakfast, no cereals, and only white bread.

- Benno and Sasha (10/5): Amazing - The location was great N/A
- Cheryl (8/5): Staff were friendly and if we stayed again would take a smaller bag - Property was located centrally for our needs. Very clean . Hot water wasn’t good.
Steps were testing
- Annabella (8/5): -
- Tash (8/5): -
- Amy (10/5): Really liked it. Would stay again - Quiet and comfortable.
Good value for money. We weren’t sure how the breakfast worked. We found the toast but not the cereal.
- Stanton (9/5): I always stay here when riding the Brisbane Valley Rail Trail. - Great country pub. Outstanding meals from the dining room
- Grant (10/5): awesome value for money -
- Robert (8/5): Very good -
- Kristy (10/5): What a little beauty - Fantastic accomodation for the price
- Stanton (9/5): Comfortable country pub - Great Queensland country pub. Basic, clean rooms, good food
- Siouxsie (9/5): Superb - Comfortable and lovely staff.
- Ruth (10/5): - Location
- Peter (7/5): Good -
- Rebekah (8/5): Rooms are clean and comfortable, restaurant experience not the greatest - Rooms were clean and comfortable.. when first walking into the room was pleasantly surprised by how inviting it looked and felt... share bathrooms were clean, first night managed to get a luke warm shower, second night got a freezing cold shower, which being in the middle of winter, was not the greatest.... 🥶🥶 Front of house/wait staff in the restaurant were amazing, kitchen staff when approached about missing meals/order after nearly an hour wait, were not so.. didn't want to resolve the issue instead tried to some how make it out to be my fault 😡... extremely unprofessional and ruined the evening... then left it to the wait staff to try and fix (again can't fault the server, she was extremely polite and professional)
- Medhbh (10/5): Very cool Room - Traditional pub stay. Very comfortable bed.
- Dean (10/5): Awesome stay. Clean and comfortable rooms. Excellent service. -
- Xavier (7/5): Good - Bed was comfy. Glad we could take our bikes into the room. The cleaner was a tad rude. And the walls weee a bit thin so your could hear everything at 4am when a couple of other guests woke up. Expected though as it is a genuinely old pub.
- Carmel (8/5): Very good - Warm comfy beds
- Kuljit (9/5): Superb -
- Leigh (8/5): Very good -
- Dave (8/5): - It was pub accomodation, it's not the Hilton but it was good for a quick overnight stay
- Shane (8/5): Very good - Returning customer 👍
- Karen (8/5): - We like old pubs with atmosphere and good food. Did it all. Old room but roomy and ensuited. Central for shops, walks and golf.
- Andrew (9/5): Superb -
- Elizabeth (8/5): Very good - Very spacious and cozy! Noisy because it was on top of a pub. Shower kept going from freezing to hot. Couldn't enjoy my bath time!
- Paul (9/5): Great country pub with warm welcome and good food! - We were riding the 160km Brisbane Valley Rail Trail on e-bikes . We were received warmly by Lorraine who arranged for the recharging of our e-bike batteries and secure overnight storage. Food and beverage service was excellent and accommodation was comfortable. No negatives!
- Odette (4/5): Comfortable evening meal was great - Average bread was abit stale
- Mil (8/5): Second stay in a lovely, old hotel on the BVRT - Our second stay at the Exchange Hotel. This hotel is along the Brisbane Valley Rail Trail and is perfect if you are hiking or biking. The rooms are very spacious and bed comfortable. Room includes toast/ cereal breakfast the next morning. If you ask for rooms 1 to 4, they come with your own private space on the top floor front balcony. It is worth booking one of these rooms for the relaxing space in the evening or watching the sunrise in the morning. Meals at the pub downstairs are good sized. the beer garden out the back is very atmospheric and relaxing. Rooms do not have ensuites, but shared bathrooms, which we had no issue with and no waiting time to use them. As mentioned, this was our second stay here as we enjoy hiking the BVRT. We would stay here again. We had room 4 again (second stay here and got the same room). Unfortunately, the guests in room 5 dont have a private balcony section, and decided they would venture onto our balcony early the in the morning. Perhaps it should be explained upon check in to guests in room 5 that they dont have use of the balcony? Also, there wasn't any cereal left in the guests kitchen and it wasnt clear what we could use out of the fridge.
- Joshua (9/5): Great spot to recharge after a day on BVRT - Nice and clean and came as advertised
- Tania (10/5): Exceptional - Toogoolawah Exchange Hotel is a gorgeous little establishment with so much character going for it.
The bed was super comfortable with the softest sheets ever. I just fell into them and felt instantly snuggly...which is not something I can say I feel with most other accommodation bedding. And the pillows were great too. Not too thin. Not hard or lumpy. Perfection!
A lot of thought has gone into the decor and all the little final touches for guests.
Super convenient affordable and hearty meals from the Groovy Goat downstairs - with super attentive and competent staff to keep things running smoothly.
Loved that breakfast was also included which made for one less thing to have to manage..
Our room was more than adequate and definitely comfortable.
I loved the ambience, the country hospitality and character. Just the history that oozed from the rooms which made me feel so welcomed and comfortable. I didn't really want to leave to be honest.
I really really enjoyed our stay and would highly recommend.
Great job Toogoolawah Exchange Hotel Management and Staff!!! Nothing to not like.
- Julie (6/5): Fun - Location , room size & comfy bed. The broken down verandah with old beer cans with cigarette butts in it, off our bedroom. Felt like I could fall through the floor boards on the verandah.
- Joshua (7/5): Good -
- Kay (10/5): Excellent stop for the Brisbane Valley Rail Trail - There was so much room and the kitchenette was welcomed. We had the room with an ensuite. It was a great stop whilst walking the Brisbane Valley Rail Trail. The staff were very friendly and helpful and the meal at dinner was excellent. Highly recommend.

- Tradebigtime (10/5): Best hotel in Toogoolawah - This is my 3rd stay, each time over a week and I found that the staff is always friendly and skilled. Manager is always available, professional and very helpful. Food is excellent and portions are really large. Room is comfortable, and bed is soft like you are floating on a cloud. Lots of amenities and hygiene is above expectations for a small 100 year old hotel. I will be back again and I highly recommend this hotel, either for accommodation, food, or just refreshment.
