Guest Reviews
- Katherine (10/5): - The staff was friendly and very accommodating
- LAUREL (8/5): - Was nice to be in the little town of Wytheville and be able to walk to dinner
- David J (10/5): Yes - Winderful people who own the little hotel. Super friendly and rooms were great. Beds were comfortable
- Jay (10/5): - Very personable and friendly Staff.
- Jim (8/5): - Nice helpful woman at the office.
- Crystal (6/5): - Check in was good Sweet little girl
Just a old property. Bed was clean and not to bad. But it was close to the place i was going so it was good only thing i would've done differently is Nonsmoking room My husband vapes so im not over picky but it was rough with cigarette smells got up this morning and as soon as i got home washed all clothes and showered to get smoke smell gone
But all in all not a bad location or stay for the price.
- Jeff (10/5): - Great location
- M Philip (8/5): - Nothing fancy. And not the cleanest, tbh. But, I've paid twice as much for worse, so....
- Al (8/5): - Check in was excellent and everything needed was taken care of
- Yvonne (4/5): - Looked very shady. Homeless person was by the office door talking to two police officers.
- Ruben (10/5): - I got a Pricier room but it was mega Huge for that Price so WORTH IT. Also it is the safest place in ALL of Wytheville to spend the night as the Virginia State Police Barracks is just a 1 minute walk from the property
- Andrew (8/5): Great value, better accommodation than other chain - Loved the greeting with a big smile from the owner. Bed is nice and firm, has fridge, microwave and coffee maker that Baymont in Oklahoma City and Days Inn in Jackson TN don't offered. Con is no Wi-Fi. But the value for the money is worth it.
- Andrew (2/5): - Reasonable price, but the AC unit in the room had a musty smell, and upon checking out, all of my belongings also now smell bad. I’m guessing this is mold or mildew of some kind coming from the AC unit
- Verified traveler (6/5): Inexpensive motel near downtown area - The best part of stay was the walking convenience to downtown. The restaurants are delicious in that area. The motel was inexpensive and the office lady was so nice and helpful. The room lacked some cleanliness(but the sheets and towels were clean), and there is no closet, but was good enough for a short weekend getaway.
- James (8/5): - The rooms are very clean , ourdated but very clean but the staff was absolutely awful and unfriendly .
- linda (4/5): - Do not stay here. Very run down. To much money for it.
- George (8/5): - When you stay there the Management is very helpful and will make sure your stay is Welcomed Also you always run into someone you know there My Family has stayed a a few times there I RECOMMEND IT. GREAT place for a night's sleep
- Gina (2/5): - Wanted cash only but didn’t have change. Overpaid. No toilet paper or towels. Smelled like a ashtray. Bathroom was dirty all around the sink and toilet. When you turned on A/C you smelled black mold
- John (2/5): Stay anywhere else - Absolutely disgusting. Cigarette burn in the pillow. Sticky floors. Sink took 10+ minutes to drain after using. Paper thin walls - listen to the person in the room next to you. Bathroom mirror so dirty it looked cloudy. Bathroom vent was hanging out of the wall. This was by far the worst room I've ever seen, for this place to have 7/10 stars is astounding and very misleading. This place was just completely filthy. It does not deserve 1 star out of 10.
- Michael (6/5): - Had two rooms with great beds, tables and chairs. Walls were not sound proof, so neighbors sounded like they were in the room with you. Back room was quiet and it was easy to ignore the neighbor's snoring.
- Dan (8/5): One Night Stay - Was comfortable, conveniently located and reasonably priced. I would stay there again
- James (2/5): - Well first off They the internet booking found me the most expensive room and said that ther were not others, however when I got there the place was less than fifty percent booked. Don't use these internet services they are thieves....
- Verified traveler (10/5): Old school - Very old school, simple motel. Quiet location right beside the state police office. I loved that aspect of old school. You don't see those type of hotels much anymore. Would definitely stay again.
- Verified traveler (2/5): - Travel lite motel is GROSS!! I'm pretty sure they let off a bug bomb in our room right before our stay and it was horrible!! We couldn't breathe in there!! It was filthy in the bathroom. I Don't think they cleaned the room at all before our stay, only bombed for I don't know what bugs. I cancelled my stay there for on the way home from vacation and got a much nicer room at a much nicer establishment!! Don't bother wasting your money here!!
- Verified traveler (10/5): - Inexpensive and very friendly. close to everything
- Deborah (6/5): - Nice small motel
- Verified traveler (2/5): - We stayed here about 5 years ago and it was so nice, we kept it in mind if we were ever staying in Wytheville again. We did just that this year and were so disappointed with how much the motel has gone downhill since our first visit.
Upon getting there, the man working the front desk couldn't find my reservation at first, and had to call someone to help him. He actually kept pulling up reservations for other people with the same first and/or last initial as me--it was as if he's never worked there before. After we were able to finally get into the room, there was an AWFUL smell--maybe ginger or celery--that permeated everything.
I also noticed that there were quite a few people in rooms, but only one car in the lot. There were a handful of cars coming in and out, and it didn't make us feel particularly safe.
I was woken up in the middle of the night to a new smell, as someone was smoking pot right outside of our door and yelling into the room next to us. Additionally, the owners appear to live on-site and were having a loud party (at least it sounded like that), leaving me with a terrible attempt at sleeping.
We were supposed to stay at the Travel Lite again on our way back from vacation, but cancelled the return trip reservation as soon as we checked out of our first stay. I would recommend looking elsewhere in Wytheville for a hotel--we found a great place for only $9 more.
- Verified traveler (6/5): - Team super friendly , property need some update and cleaning
- Verified traveler (8/5): - Nice place for the money. Don’t expect a four season type visit.
- Verified traveler (10/5): - At this price point, two things are important to me; safety and cleanliness. I felt safe, and the room was clean.
- Carrie (10/5): Breakfast was a plus! - Great value for the money. Safe… good location…. Clean… updated…. Breakfast!!
- Brian (10/5): On the way home - I love this place. Friendly helpful staff, great price, fridge-microwave.
- Verified traveler (4/5): - Very outdated and needs repairs. Staff was nice.
- Verified traveler (8/5): - Nice stay.
- Verified traveler (2/5): - We ended up leaving and changing hotels in the middle of the night. We felt very unsafe.
- Ruben (10/5): UNBEATABLY CHEAP/SAFE for the SUPER LOW PRICE - Priceless & 100% SAFE for the UBER LOW PRICE that ur paying. the Hotel is literally just 150 feet away from a Virginia State Police Barracks, so ur definitely ALWAYS 100% SAFE 100% of the time, nearby gas stations, amenities, & even an E Cigg store are all within walking distance, Restaurants also are all within a 5 to 7 minute ride from this Hotels Location. I GRADE it a 9 out of 10, 10 being the best. Staff & management is very pleasant & SUPER NICE, towards me anyway. Did I forget to mention the room was only $46.00 Dollars total INCLUDING TAX????
- Verified traveler (6/5): - The hotel uses regular keys, and the room door security is not impressive. The wifi kept going out, but they did reset it each time I called. The towels are thin, but they gave me extra ones when I asked. I also requested no maid service, and they honored that although there is no door hanger.
Not a bad place for the price.
- Verified traveler (6/5): - The room smelled musty, there was no ice.
- Verified traveler (10/5): - Its near stores and restaurants. Right behind police station and is quiet. No microwaves to warm up food.
- Verified traveler (8/5): - This is a no-frills, bare-minimum, motel. But it was clean, inexpensive, and easy access to I-81. We just needed a place to sleep as we traveled south. We had a king bed, with 3 pillows which were on the thin side, so it would have been nice if there had been 4. The outside temperature went down into the 20s and while there was a heater in the room which worked fine, the heat didn't get into the bathroom which was freezing. We probably would stay here again when we travel, but not in the winter.
- Verified traveler (8/5): - Good location, quite, clean, and very friendly staff. the only knock was that the room could use a fresh coat of paint
- Verified traveler (4/5): - Great location, but that’s all. The room was extremely cold. It took at least 3 hours to warm the room up. Beds were okay. My husband asked for a few extra cups and the owner said we already had some in our room🙄 the “ice machine” is located in an open area where you just scoop it?? Leaves were around the area, and anyone could do whatever they wanted to the ice and no one would know.
It was just for a night, but lord I wasn’t expecting it to be that crappy of a stay.
- Gina (10/5): - Nice little place. Friendly staff. Will definitely stay again!
- Randy (8/5): My go to motel in Wytheville. - Folks who run this motel are always so nice. This is my go to place in wytheville.
- Travellite (4/5): - Bare bones. Not clean. Ice machine broken. Outdoor microwave not in room. . Looked like it had not been cleaned for months
- Verified traveler (8/5): - Clean, basic room, good value for the money, good short term stay
- Ronnie (10/5): Great staff, great location, clean property - I’ve stayed at this property several times; I prefer it because the staff is very helpful and friendly. The location is ideal. You can walk to the shops and bars. It’s in a very safe neighborhood. I’ve never had an issue any of the times I’ve stayed here. I’ll stay here again
- Verified traveler (8/5): - The room was clean and the beds were comfortable. It did have a refrigerator which wasn't expected, but we did use it. They also have wi-fi, but you must ask for the password. Other than that, this property doesn't have breakfast or a pool, but that is not what we are looking for. Our needs are a clean room with comfortable beds and this place delivers. Oh, and the price is right!
- Verified traveler (10/5): - I stayed here 4 times now an have always liked it clean quite an friendly close to everything great lil place will stay again
- Verified traveler (8/5): - Love this lil place ...not fancy an not updated but always bug free clean an a good sleep when in this area clise to alit if food choices walmart an stores just a nice friendly lil place to rest yourself
- Verified traveler (8/5): - Clean rooms, nice owners (very helpful). Beds are ok.
- Verified traveler (8/5): - Nice clean motel for the price. Staff was friendly.
- Verified traveler (8/5): - Noce clean lil place quite an close to everything nice stay
- Verified traveler (6/5): Good for Overnight Stay - Nice space. Very clean. Comfortable beds. Hospitable greeting at check in. Only thing missing in room was a place to hang clothes.
- Verified traveler (10/5): - One of the best cheapest hotels I've ever stayed in.
- Verified traveler (8/5): - travel lite was a clean no frills room.
room was inexpensive, area is safe. gas station across the street is convenient. i went to a steak house on the other side of I-77 called stagecoach. pretty good, reasonable $
- SD (6/5): - The doors are in desperate need of cleaning and the lights over the bed didn’t work but other than that it was a decent stay for the money.
- Verified traveler (4/5): - I didn't like how the property smelled. The bathroom smelled like cigarettes and smoke. The walls and beds looked very old.
- Verified traveler (6/5): - Stinky smells like smoke cigarettes terrible we take family room not healthy for my baby we only stay for couple hours
- Verified traveler (2/5): - I did not book this place within last year (maybe two yrs)and have not stayed there recently
WHY AM I GETTING THIS
- Matthew (4/5): - I liked that the property was near a historic part of town. What I didn't like about the property were the stained bedsheets and the strong chemical smell in the room.
- Verified traveler (8/5): - Nice staff, appears they take care of property, recent remodel?
- IDriveAtNight (10/5): - Easy to get to from VA Route 81, but double check a map first - that area can be confusing. It's on a main street, so if you stay during the week you're on the edge of "Downtown". I stayed on a Sunday, so almost everything "downtown" was closed, including some interesting-looking restaurants. The desk clerk (owner?) was a very friendly Indian gentleman who volunteered info on local restaurants. The room was not fancy, but very clean. Refrigerator and coffee machine, but I was only crashing to sleep until I hit the road at midnight so I didn't use either one. Good TV service for an inexpensive motel. My only complaint is: overhead lighting only - no lamps. Bathroom very clean, could use a few more towel racks or coathook type things. Easy-use soap and shampoo, good towels. The open end of the toilet tissue rack was on a slight downward slant, so when I pulled at the tissue the roll would almost always fall off! CONCLUSION: Great inexpensive non-chain motel with a couple of quirky things going on, but a pleasant place to crash for the night.
- Verified traveler (2/5): - Dirty towels and toilets. Room smell like cheap filthy guest house. Bathroom not good for kids. Bad not comfortable air conditioner makes so much noise. Souch dirt under the bed.....
- Verified traveler (6/5): - it was clean enough and the bed comfy. Poor lighting. Overall a good bargain and we would stay there again.
- Verified traveler (8/5): - Liked having 2 chairs. Always annoyed when we pay more and there is only one chair. Why say s room accommodates 2 and provide only one chair.
- Verified traveler (6/5): - It was a quiet stay. Good for the price. Just a place to sleep on a long drive home
- Verified traveler (10/5): - Liked it all. Especially for the flexibility of check in and out times for my situation.
- robert (8/5): - It’s a great stop for me when traveling. Good value and if you unique places and great food, walk accords the street to Log House 1776 restaurant. It’s the reason I stop there.
- John (10/5): - Incredible hotel. Much nicer in person than. Presented on Expedia. Had an incredible stay with my family of four. Best lodging in the area.
- Verified traveler (2/5): Disgusting stay. - No one was at the desk when I arrived and I stood there for about 5-10 minutes. When the woman finally arrived, she was wearing her pajamas and didn't really have much to say to me. Definitely not inviting.
When I got to my room, there was hair on my pillow, disgusting stains on my sheets, something was splattered all over the phone and it was obvious it hadn't been cleaned off, the "free wifi" as advertised didn't work, and the showering towel had a big black stain on it. Officially one of the grosses Motel experiences I've had.
- Verified traveler (8/5): Basic motel in sleepy small town. - Comfortable bed, clean room, quiet, tv, nice shower, nothing fancy. Basics, only. Nice little motel in sleepy, conservative little town near intersection of I-77 and I-81. Eating establishments nearby.
- Verified traveler (8/5): - Overall, it was ok. Staff was great. The beds were very hard so they could upgrade the mattresses, sink in bathroom has no room to put your toiletries, brush, makeup, etc. and a hook over the bathroom door would be great as there was no place to hang clothes. Other than these few issues, room was great for the price.
- Melinda (8/5): Nice and clean - I would recommend this motel if you don't mind a "no frills" kind of place. The room and bathroom were really clean and it is in a nice location.
- Verified traveler (10/5): - Nice comfortable, in town, very accomadating. Highly recommend
- Christine (10/5): Great value and friendly - Simple hotel with god amenities. No frills but comfortable. Very friendly staff. Great value.
- Sarah (10/5): - It was what we expected. No bells and whistles, but a decent place to stay overnight on a long drive. Price was very resonable for the family "suite". It worked for our family for what we needed.
- Verified traveler (10/5): Nic e quiet Place - She was very helpful
- Dana (8/5): - It was a simple motel. Honestly it was better than I had expected. The service was great, the clerk was friendly and courteous. The room was clean, I've been to fancier places that were worse than this one. If we go back to Wytheville I will plan to stay here again
- Lucy (6/5): Unexpected need for room - The need for a room for the night wasn’t planned and had to fit into our already planned budget, so we took a chance on a cheaper room. Staff person was very friendly room was very clean, if they just changed the beds to newer more comfortable mattresses this place would be very good. Place was quiet heater worked great shower had great pressure and all was clean.
- Richard C (6/5): Comfortable but not good internet. - Comfortable room for an older motel. It's been nicely renovated. Has nice amenities, but the internet is very unreliable. I was there on business, and this was a major problem.
