- AThikerVB (10/5): EXCEPTIONAL WINTER HOSPITALITY NEAR ADK HIGH PEAKS - Nine friends spent 2 nights here during a very cold weekend (nights were -10F below zero) in the ADK High Peaks region of Keene Valley, Keene, Upper Jay, Lake Placid, and Saranac Lake. It was a relief to "discover" the ADK Trail Inn and its very friendly owners/managers by phone (how we made the reservation) and even in person. We had three rooms--"Woodlands", "Ascent", and "Skyward"--each with two double beds, and basic amenities of a refrigerator and microwave. The rooms were clean and were warm despite frigid outside temperatures and lots of snow. No TVs in the rooms, but good, free WiFi coverage. Little to no cell phone signal for any carrier. Breakfasts are a healthy "grab and go" bag stocked in the office common area, and plenty of hot coffee and hot water for tea. Our group lingered in the common area, enjoying the ceiling decorated with all kinds of hanging Christmas ornaments. On our second night, we had returned from Lake Placid and the Winter Carnival at Saranac Lake with its Ice Palace, and we thoroughly enjoyed the "game room" in its separate but central building close to the rooms. We met Wayne, the owner, who happened to be putting wood in the wood stove, and learned a bit about his and his wife Amy's story of becoming inn-keepers. Both have inspirational books in the rooms about their personal journeys. The game room kept us entertained and laughing at each others foibles, shooting pool, playing ping pong, and playing foos ball. I noticed a bookshelf with board games. At night the sounds of silence around the Inn's rooms were a welcome change from tourist street noise. All of us were tired from the day and slept well.
- 988lelias (10/5): Warm Friendly Stay During Snowy Christmas Holiday - ADK Trail Inn is a warm, friendly rustic motel/inn with responsive staff. Moreover, on Monday and Tuesday evenings the Inn hosts home-cooked dinners, which have proved popular with locals and guests alike. It's reasonably priced and great for those who enjoy outdoor activities. At the end of the day guests may gather around a fireplace to relax. When we had to extend our stay an extra week, owners Amy and Wayne worked to accommodate us even though there was almost no vacancy. Winter or summer we've enjoyed our stays at the ADK Trail Inn by the Ausable River in Upper Jay, New York.
- sublimey_stumbling (8/5): Quick stay before hiking - Appreciated being able to be able to book a quick midweek overnight stay online the day of. Never directly interacted with anyone here as I came late and left early. However, the main lodge looked inviting upon my arrival. I appreciated the extremely simple after hours check-in and before hours check-out and was very pleasantly surprised, by the brown bag packed to-go breakfast. Not fancy, but exactly what I needed on my way to the trail. It was also great to be able to park steps in front of my room and not trek in and out of a building. The one downside is that it is right off the road, so you do hear road noise from the room. (As the owners are obviously aware and provide ear plugs.) My room was well appointed with a mini fridge and microwave. It was laid out slightly oddly with the sink outside the bathroom on a weird platform. The only major negative was the super musty smell in the room. Obviously the owners are aware of that too and had an actively working dehumidifier, possibly the smallest one known to man, but it was definitely not enough. The mildew/mold smell was bordering on gross. Also, there is zero cell service here, but the wifi did work well.

On-site restaurant was delicious and convenient. Breakfast provided was a nice added bonus along with the game room! A complete package topped off with attentive and friendly hosts!

- Tara (6/5): - The inn is kind of ramshackle. We stayed in "Wilderness." The private bathroom had been updated (though the workmanship was rough), but the rest of the room was just old and worn. We realized that we should have brought food to cook for breakfast after seeing the paper bag breakfast provided (need a hearty breakfast before a big hike.) There was coffee in the lobby in the morning but with a sign not to fill large cups, so maybe go to Stewart's if you like more than a 12 oz cup. I will find a better option for my next trip to the Adirondacks.

Walls very thin so could hear talking from other rooms.Unfortunately we tried to go to restaurant but it was very crowded at 530pm so we went somewhere else, it looks nice! Check in was easy and everyone so nice .I would stay again but probably try for the lodge or end room , it would help to have a Keurig or coffee maker in room.PERFECT location for high peaks hiking !!! Cute fireplace outside and swing !!! People so NICE !!!
- bddNewEngland (10/5): Read the description, it's accurate - ADK is rustic style, but it's clean and comfortable. The shower and bath were fine, parking was easy. Our room had a welcome kitchenette, and a thoughtful bag breakfast was included. The property was well maintained and quiet at night. As described, it's self- service check-in/out. We were only there overnight, but the grounds included a game room, some outdoor games, a BBQ and fire pit, etc. There are attractive flower and vegetable gardens.

- tonyaU3526IJ (8/5): Convenient location away from busy areas - Cozy inn with an added restaurant open on Mondays and Tuesdays. I stayed here since it was convenient for me to access some of the ADK trails. Had a handy mini fridge and microwave plus my own bathroom so I could get up and go early without any delays. Would stay again next time I'm in the area for hiking or whatever.

We loved the flower garden and the path behind us ran along the river. The bagged breakfast was a good start to our day and the rec room was appreciated on our rainy Sunday afternoon. There were several choices of places to eat a short drive away, and Stewart's gas station had lots of options for take out and also ice cream:) All in all we had a pleasant stay and would recommend staying here.
- Michael (10/5): Love it. Definitely going back. - My girlfriend and I LOVED this place. It's not the Marriot or some chain, so it's a bit unique and has quirks, and that's why it's awesome. The room was small but comfortable, the bed very comfy. There was no TV in the room, which I really liked. Great shower. Outside there was a little deck with chairs so we could relax, listen to the Ausable River and look at the lovely grounds. There was also a restaurant area (closed while we were there) that we could sit in for meals or just to hang out. Cool decorations everywhere (and a TV, if you really needed one). And a small game room with foosball, pingpong and a pool table. Fire pit with chairs. Oh, and they provided a nice bagged breakfast with an egg, granola bar, orange, juice box -- basically a good hiking snack. And the staff were very friendly and helpful.
- averageguy1951 (10/5): Rustic and relaxing experience - We returned to the Adirondacks after a 5 year absence and the ADKTrail Inn was our first stay. We had stayed there previously for 15 years. It is a great base camp for hiking and cycling. The rooms are rustic, not cluttered with televisions and other electronics. Watching and listening to the East Branch of the Ausable, which runs behind the cabins, was relaxing and inspiring. It is a great place to recharge, away from the hubbub of Lake Placid. The rates are reasonable, and Amy and her staff are very attentive. Overall a very enjoyable stay.

- janhspitz (10/5): Clean and comfortable - The ADK Trail Inn is clean and comfortable, and in a perfect location for hiking the mountains without being in the busy areas. My grandsons loved going in the Ausable River, just steps away, after each day hike, and we enjoyed s'mores in the evening at the fire circle. We also highly recommend the Monday/Tuesday Grill if you're there on those days. Excellent meal!

Rooms - including beds and pillows - are warm and inviting. There are rooms with a kitchenette and microwaves are available in other rooms. Nice and quiet. It's a lovely little place to stay while exploring the ADKs.

The game room and fireplace were great. Our room had been well updated. The packaged breakfast was just right to get the day started.

- scottjY468AZ (10/5): Cozy and charming! - Amy and Wayne were warm, welcoming hosts in this charming, cozy little B&B type of inn, nestled deep in the Adirondack woods. Our room was comfortable, plus we had access to a fireplace, where we built a fire nightly, a game room, with pool, ping pong and more, and their restaurant, which serves simple but tasty home-cooked comfort food Mondays and Tuesdays. We are skiers, and the Lake Placid complex is a mere 25 minute drive. The little hamlet of Keene has a gas station and convenience store, a mere five minutes away. Oh, one minor complaint: Our room had no closet, and it seems to me a small armoire would solve that problem. All else was stellar. What are you waiting for? Life is short! Go!!

- Idun (10/5): Great Property at a Reasonable Price - We had a great time at the ADK Trail Inn. It was probably one of the most unusual stays we've ever had at a hotel. It is the off season and we were the only guests, which made it very quiet -- our favorite thing in the world. Amy, the owner informed us in advance that this would be the case, and we did not find it problematic. The ADK Inn is older, but very clean and homey. It is in beautiful Upper Jay, which has a very remote feel, but is still really close to Keene, Keene Valley, and all the trails. The brown bag breakfast was sufficient to sustain us on our hikes, and the coffee was delicious and ready for us really early in the morning. We had a power outage on one of the days, when I needed the Internet for a podcast. Amy immediately addressed this issue for us on very short notice and made a private room available at the owner's other property. We also met Wayne, who was equally kind and welcoming. This was an excellent experience at a very reasonable price. We highly recommend it!
- chayaf2017 (10/5): Peaceful and very comfortable retreat - This is a beautiful Bed and Breakfast nestled in the Adirondacks. My room was neat, clean and very comfortable. It was a quiet and peaceful location. There was a refrigerator and microwave in my room. There isn't much phone service in the mountains, so the wifi was a good substitute and it worked well while I was on the property.

I grabbed a beer and sat by the fire pit on the premises to relax in the evening before heading to my room. It was quiet and a relaxing getaway near Keene and Lake Placid.

Comfortable bed, hot shower, evening campfire, propane grill for dinner, bagged breakfast with yogurt, fruit, granola bar and hard boiled egg. Hammock by the beautiful peaceful creek… we could ask for nothing more. They even supply ear plugs- I presume for some road noise or noisy neighbors, but we didn’t need them. We’ll be back.

It was wonderful to have a healthful breakfast prepared for us so we can get an early start for our hike -- everything was immaculate, Well thought-out, and very professional. everything was very user-friendly and comfortable. As though that we're not enough, we also enjoyed the beautiful dirt road behind the end which ran along the river. The whole experience was very peaceful and pleasant and I highly recommend the ADK trail inn for anyone looking to relax in a clean, beautiful place that's nestled right smack in nature's beauty.

- J216ZDmelaniel (10/5): Mini Birthday Trip for my Cat - Stayed there for a three night mini trip to celebrate my cat Sapphire’s First Birthday!!! We thought it was a nice place. The rooms are nice, clean & woodsy themed… It’s in a nice quiet area. Close to a lot of fun stuff to do. The breakfast was nice. It’s a bagged breakfast. You pick it up in the morning from the fridge in the office. There is a gas station pretty close by for any last minute items you might have forgot or for some snacks… If you want a nice quiet place to stay kinda close to Lake Placid and Whiteface I’d say this would be a good pick.

The grounds were lovely with beautiful perennials around the property.

Rooms were clean, comfortable, and quiet. Loved hanging by the fire, taking a dip in the river behind the property, and enjoying the game room or playing bag toss. The option to have coffee and a to go breakfast each day was also very nice. Great communication with the owners as well. We would stay here again without hesitation!

This was our first time and we will be back! Excellent service at the on site restaurant, good food choices, and excellent fresh coffee in the morning. Our room was quiet, clean, and so pretty! Modern bathroom with super plush towels. the ground are impeccable. There are a couple of vegan choices, and a non dairy option for milk/creamer. breakfast was ok but I wish there had been some non dairy choices in place of the cows milk yogurt. I highly recommend this place!

Breakfast grab bags were great for quick mornings before heading off on adventures. Fire pit both nights and got to meet other travellers there also. Was a great place to stay with rustic vibes! You definitely need a vehicle to get around in the area though there’s not a lot within walking distance. Would definitely stay here again!
- X2207SZsaraht (8/5): Nice, Quaint, Quiet Hotel with No TV - No TV so if you must have it, this isn't for you. Internet works well. Nice quaint place, very basic. Quiet. Priced well. Dated but clean and everything works. Staff not in the office, but you can call or text them and they are very responsive. Bagged continental breakfast (egg, fruit, granola bar, yogurt, juice box). Coffee area well stocked with creamers, syrups, etc. Well organized being as no staff is there. Check in is a bag in the office with your name and a key. Whoever set up the bathroom mirror and shower must have been tall! I'm 5'-2" and in the bathroom mirror, I couldn't see below my below my nose. The shower head is high and sprayed directly in my face, wasn't adjustable, and there's no avoiding it except to turn your back to the shower head because the shower stall is very small. Our room had two very large wooden rocking chairs inside which would be much better substituted for a desk and a chair. Our particular room also had a convenient kitchenette with a 2-burner hotplate, toaster oven, fridge and microwave. The bed was a little soft, with only two pillows other than decorative ones. We'd stay here again because that's minor stuff.
- K (10/5): Recommended - Friendly staff and great price affordable . Closer to lake placid and other scenic spots. They have restaurant on site open on Monday-Tuesday and grilled burgers were awesome, especially the vegan .
- richardtR1606PM (10/5): ADK trail Inn is awesome!! - Went up to the ADK trail in Jube with my wife as we do every year. As usual it was wonderful, we stayed in the Daybreak room as we usually do and again it did not disappoint. It is such a quiet, cozy and relaxing experience. Wayne again was a wonderful host, and we would not go anywhere else. ADK has everything you need and the new deck around the restaurant/office is just wonderful, a great edition. My wife and I cannot wait to go up again.

The river behind the Inn is soothing to the soul. The location is perfect for hiking, good food and making memories. There is no other place I would rather stay!

- 820julieth (10/5): Clean, cozy, comfortable - These accommodations are clean and cozy, a cabin you’d hope for while touring the Adirondacks. The hosts are thoughtful with their pre-visit communication and friendly in person. The breakfast to go was packed and put in the fridge which we could access anytime. And the stars in the early morning were a special delight.

- Abbie (6/5): - I was ready for rustic and understood the emails that we received before arrival but I guess the 8.8 Expedia rating had my expectations too high. It was clean, the beds were comfortable and the ac worked but that was about it.. we knew there was no tv and we were excited to have a campfire but even though there was plenty of wood, there was no kindling, paper, matches or lighter and we didn’t want to drive 10 mins to get any so we thought we’d play cards in the room but the lighting is so poor we had a hard time seeing once the sun went down so we settled for streaming something to watch on our phone but the wifi kept cutting out every 10 mins. So we thought we’d just have a drink before turning in but there is no ice on the premise so we had a luke warm drink and turned in really early… not really an 8.8 experience….

- Amy (10/5): Loved our Stay in the Daybreak Room! - We loved our stay at the ADK Trail Inn! It's rustic in all the right ways. I deeply appreciated the several emails I received from the owners - first, making sure we had the right expectations about our stay (it's not just another chain hotel) and then later sending us a list of "things to do" ideas. And I very much liked the low-contact check-in, breakfast, and check-out. We stayed in the Daybreak room, which is in the same building as the office, and has magnificent pine walls and vaulted ceiling. This large room has a B&B vibe with found furniture, quilt on the bed, and an AC unit in the window and a fan on the dresser. Additionally, this room also has a shared living room space, which would be fun if you're traveling in a group or with a family. All of it extremely clean! Much, much more so than most chain hotels. The breakfast is packed in a paper bag, and all the foods chosen with the hiker in mind. As someone who is dairy sensitive, I appreciated the non-dairy creamer options for my coffee. We'll definitely visit again!

Amy was super nice, the place was clean, warm, if not rustic. no tv, no hair dryer. Bathrooms clean, towels soft, showers tiny, little beetle friends on the ceilings. I super highly recommend if you are ok with only slightly roughing it. Enjoy!!

- Mark (8/5): Great escape in the Adirondacks - Great place for hikers: close to many trails, restaurants for dinner, breakfast is basic and quick, play room offers a variety of games (pool, ping pong, board games) for after hiking winding down, and the hosts light a campfire ever night in a sitting area near the river out back. Only flag is that you do hear cars passing by on the highway, though, it is not loud enough to disrupt sleep.

The owners let us check in a little early which was nice after camping overnight and hiking all day. No TV but The ausable river is in the backyard so we got to enjoy that and they have a nice little game room. Wish they served a hot breakfast during the week but the packed breakfast was still nice Monday morning. Overall a great little place to stay.

- Michelle (10/5): A gem in Adirondack Park - The ADK Trail Inn is perfect for a stay in Adirondack Park if you like quiet, quaint, comfortable, a hiker-lodge vibe, and no frills and nice touches. It's off the beaten path and convenient to hiking trails, a couple of restaurants, and Whiteface Mtn; clean; on the bank of the lovely Ausable River; and weather-permitting, offers an evening camp fire . A simple and sufficient take-away breakfast and coffee is a nice compliment to the main reasons to stay at the Inn, and a cookie upon check-in is a lovely touch. Rooms have a refrigerator and microwave. The proprietors, Amy and Wayne, love what they do and offer, and it shows.
