Guest Reviews
- Kevin (10/5): - I live in Miami & decided to extend my stay in London by 1 more day but didn’t want anything too expensive so booked 1 night here. It was,for the price, really good value.I booked a double with shared bathroom but the members of staff, with the owner’s approval over the mobile ,upgraded me to an en-suite room with no extra charge. The room, number 11 was clean, warm & wi-fi was working well.
I was happy & will stay again in future.
- Patrick (4/5): - Cold
- Emily (2/5): - I definitely wont be back
- Jonathan (10/5): - I booked one night at the Golden Star. I already knew Victoria was a great area, and since I was on a budget, their price—cheaper than anywhere else—was a big factor. To be honest, I was a little nervous after seeing a few negative reviews, but I couldn’t have been happier with my stay.
The staff were polite and helpful, and I even had a nice chat with the owner, who gave me excellent recommendations for places to eat, drink and go out. He’s lived in central London all his life and knows it extremely well.
I stayed in Room 5 on the second floor. The room was very clean, the bed was comfortable, towels and soap were provided, and the free Wi-Fi worked well. The shared bathroom was right next to my room, so it felt almost like having a private one.
Overall, the hotel offered a great price in a great location, and I’ll definitely be staying there again! Very happy to have stayed
- Frederick (8/5): - Room 1
Requires a little finishing off with decor.
For some reason the mattress was a little smaller then the bed.
Couldn't find the TV remote!
The one staff member helped as much as possible even going out and brought a kettle.
- Ronald (2/5): - I came 11 pm in the hotel which I sent them an email saying I will be late. It turns out that they are fully booked . Imagined I traveled 5 hours from wales plus I have a visitor from Australia . It gave me a headache as I don’t know where to go. The guy offered me a used room and wait for an hour just to clean it. It turns out dirty and bad smell . I need a refund at least for this trouble ! I think this app Expedia or even the hotel itself got the problem. It’s not acceptable !
- Stephen (2/5): - This property is very poor. The rooms; decor and facilities are bad. The toilet and shower facilities were terrible. Staff were nowhere to be seen. I think I was as the only person staying at this property as I didn't see anybody else the 3 days I was there. Do not stay at this place!
- Rosane (2/5): - Very dirty
- Arianna (2/5): - The place was so unclean and i have taken pictures. I left the property at 6am as i couldn't wait to leave
- Lee (2/5): - Booked, walked there but no room available
- Adnan (2/5): - There was not check in availability
No room available but booking and charging accepted.
Check in time 12 in night they didn’t open door and refused to give rooom because not available and money not refunded
- Odalys (2/5): - Please, in my opinion, the pictures at the Expedia app, it's completely different.
UK inspection passed through,at the time of my vacation, and they're answering for your service.
- LUZ (2/5): - Terrible like a horror movie experience.
- Sidnei (2/5): Horrible room - avoid !!! - Horrible to not be rude, I’ve never seen something like this before, dirty and poor condition, never been cleaned. I don’t know how hotels.com accepted property’s like this. Very sad.
- William (2/5): HORRIBLE EXPERIENCE - The shower was disgusting and dirty with spiders and cobwebs. The tv wasn’t working & the sink was stopped up. There were no fans or air conditioning. The room is just unusable.
- Declan (4/5): Bare essentials - Much too expensive for what is given. The conditions in the room are extremely basic. The room wasn't cleaned thoroughly at all. The shower worked fine. In the twin room, one bed was really firm and the other very soft. The curtains were hanging on by a thread and let in light all the time. The walls to my room were really thin so that I could hear the person's TV on deep into the night. There isn't a reception, the owner simply takes cash because the card machine was 'broken'. Your details are written down on pieces of paper that are cut into shape. Look, if you/re just looking to have the bare, and I mean VERY bare essentials of a place to rest then stay here but just make sure you're not paying top dollar like I did. Lastly, the man I dealt with staying there was respectful and kind - the money just isn't put back into the property.
- Kayleigh (2/5): Reported to Trading Standards - not fit for people - Let me begin this review by telling readers that I once slept in a barn owned by somebody nicknamed "Uncle Filthy" and it was still better than this place. In fact, I'm pretty sure when Mary and Joseph followed the North Star, they wound up at The Golden Star instead and decided a barn was a more appealing option.
Never in my life have I stayed somewhere as disgusting as this rot hole, and I doubt I ever will again. Our room stank of damp, and had some unidentified red substance smeared up the walls, dirty bedsheets shoved down the side of the bed, the walls were filthy, every corner of the room was thick with dirt and dust, as were the surfaces and the falling apart cupboard which had a dirty bowl and an old cushion on top. The bin was full of rubbish, although by this point, that was the least of our worries, as was the nonfunctional light in the bathroom. The wooden window frames were rotten and filthy, and the toilet had poop smeared around the bowl, and clearly hadn't been cleaned.
Outside of our room was a small utility cupboard with a washing machine. The floor was strewn with brown filthy bed sheets which piled up maybe four or five feet.
In the hallway there was mould on the walls and bed sheets hanging on bannisters and on wooden racks which obstructed the walkway.
There was another cupboard semi-concealed by a curtain, which was full of more dirty bedsheets and piles of rubbish.
This place is like something from a horror movie. It needs shutting down.
- Verified traveler (2/5): NEEDS SHUTTING DOWN - Absolutely abysmal! Dirty, health and safety nightmare and public health concern.black mould in the shower, half a shower door missing, toilet flush broken, extension lead over the sink, window smashed and masking taped, curtain hanging off, cigarette burn on the bedsheet. Couldn’t breathe in the room had to go outside and use my asthma pump several times. Owner turned nasty and aggressive when issue were bought up. No inside lock on the door or bathroom door. Hotels.com need to pull this from their site. DO NOT GO!
- Craig (4/5): Dirty run down below budget hotel - Dirty, run down, uncomfortable, and lacking basic amenities. Not recommended.
- Nicholas (2/5): Worst hotel in London? - The room had only one power socket which needed an extension draped over a sink to use it. TV not working, just a single sheet on the bed, broken window, shower and door. By far the worst place I have ever had to stay
- James (2/5): Horrible experience - This has to be the worse room (cannot call it a hotel) I have ever entered - I have seen better flop houses. The room was dirty beyond belief and when I complained the gentleman stated it was a reasonable hotel. I would certainly not wish anyone to stay here - photos will speak a thousand words!! Not happy to have paid anything for this pleasure, Hotels.com you need to remove them from your website
I only remained as I needed to be in London and everything was sold out or crazy prices when I tried to re-book
- Betty May (2/5): Improvement needed - The hotel is very dirty and smells badly. Needs significant improvement before receiving guests. Curtains are old mouldy and needs washing. I bought air freshner and bathroom cleaner, before i could settle there for the night. Sheets are torn and dingy. Not worth the price..
- Verified traveler (2/5): - I don't recommend this hotel to anyone.
- Sarah (8/5): Cheap but clean - Cheap & shabby but clean & very convenient.
One weird thing: wall mounted TV in room but no socket to plug it in to. In fact, no sockets at all!
- R (6/5): - You get what you pay for. I would only recommend it for single men
- JASVIR (2/5): - Need to Maintenance
- Verified traveler (2/5): AVOID AT ALL COSTS - Avoid at all costs.
Booked somewhere at very short notice so didn't think to check the reviews, if I had done then I would never had stayed here.
Booked an ensuite room, arrived and got told it's not available so I got given a room that doesn't have a working bathroom and told to go up to the floor above to use the communal bathroom instead (that didn't even have a sink!)
No towel or toiletries provided
No kettle or tea/coffee of any kind provided
Large hole in the window, no curtains and the window couldn't be locked either.
Dirtiest accommodation I've ever stayed in, very clear that no cleaning ever gets done other than the a fresh sheet thrown on the bed (thank god for that)
Exposed wiring in some places, rotten window frames in other, whole place smelled of either mould, drugs or damp.
Place needs investigating / shutting down ASAP.
- EMMA (2/5): - Room was Filthy, Bed Linen Dirty Curtains held up by pieces of String. One of. the Beds was Being held up underneath by an old headboard and rubbish. Bathroom door would not close properly, used Razor blade in shower. I had to clean the shower before it was safe to use as it was so dirty, only 1 small towel supplied. Bedroom Ceiling was damaged and water stained, Window frame was rotten and letting in a breeze. Tea and coffee facilities consisted of an old stainless steel teapot and Jug. Stairs leading to and from rooms in unsafe state. Staff where rude and unhelpful. A very unsafe environment to take my Son to for his 13th Birthday trip to London. The rooms and Hotel Nowhere near matches the Photos or description, Absolutely Not worth any where near the money That was Paid out. Avoid at all cost's!
- Cindy (2/5): - There is no reception but a lovely old gentleman is waiting by the door to welcome you. He showed me to the my room which was in a next door building. The building smelt strongly of illegal substances ( sure you can imagine what) the room was filthy. I don’t have high expectations but a clean bathroom is a minimum. The man on reception had mobility issues and I didn’t want to cause him any trouble so I just left. I didn’t feel safe in the room and needed to make sure that I could get a good night’s sleep ready for work. The pictures advertised do not reflect what’s actually offered.
- THOMAS (4/5): Basic room needs a revamp, tv caput. - Well positives, shower ok, large room, quiet, bed comfortable. Location good.
Negatives TV didnt work, cable had wires out 1 end. rubbish still in bin, rubbish outside window in basement. I didnt want to investigate too much
- Douglas (2/5): - No reception area and had to go to another hotel to call the owner. Did not take credit card, had to go to an ATM to get cash. Rot in woods, unsafe stairs, fight between tenants, ants, no garbage cans in room, says bed and breakfast but there is no food or space for that matter for a chair let alone a table . I could go on. On the positive side it is fairly close to Victoria Station. After 70 years and 64 countries, this is easily the worst I have experienced
- Sigrid (2/5): - In all my travels I have never experienced anything like it! Room #4 was filthy with used Trips and hair from many former guests on floor; there was a hole in the ceiling; the curtain could not be closed; water in shower was uncontrollable; no garbage container; room reeked of smoke, etc. I wanted to check out after first night, but could not get hold of personnel. Finally was able to leave after second night only, since near hotels were full due to Queen's jubilee. The place should be closed down!
- Verified traveler (4/5): - Window with a hole in, no light in the bathroom, dust all over the floor. Room was filthy.
- Chris (2/5): - Firstly, prior to booking the room i asked that i was able to keep my bike in the room (i was doing the London 100 the day after) and asked that my bag was kept safe, both were confirmed as OK. I arrived and it appeared that i had caused some panic and confusion when i had a bike in tow and was advised that room may not be big enough, my bag would also need to be taken offsite. Why not just tell me in advance? After walking into the property it had a musty smell and was in a state of disrepair, the room itself was dirty, dishevelled and lacking most amenities to make it at least basic. Upon moving a table to accommodate my bike i found old ear cleaning buds and gay porn material so clearly the room is not cleaned regularly. The TV did not work, there was a kettle but no cups, coffee, tea, sugar etc to make a hot drink in the morning. For £100 this was shockingly below any sort of condition that would make you want to go back, 1/10. Give this property a miss!
- shankar (2/5): - Nobody present on Check in and on Check out. Had to deposit the key in the room. Service and amenities are beyond horrible.
- Peter (2/5): - Possibly the worst hotel I’ve ever stayed in! Broken windows, filthy carpet ( I couldn’t walk barefoot in the room because there were that many bits on the floor.), the en suite bathroom hadn’t been cleaned and there was a smell of sewage coming from the back of the property.
- Verified traveler (2/5): It’s a dump - I went there and left.
There were no light in the bathroom and it was dirty
No light in the corridor
Bedding was dirty
I could smell cigarette smoke from the next room
- Verified traveler (2/5): Terrible - Couldn’t stay even a single night. I had to check out 4hrs after checking in. The bedroom was extremely dirty, windows curtain dirty, window help open with a bottle, dirty bathroom. Overall after triggering an allergic reaction I couldn’t stay for any of the 2nights booked
- Anne (4/5): - One and only stay!
- Mark (2/5): - Worst hot experience of my life. The owner never showed up to give me keys and refuses to refund me. The hotel itself was like some homeless shelter. It was the dirtiest and mkst dangerous place ever... And I've been all over the world from India to Colombia. This is without doivt the scruffiest place imaginable.
- Vaclav (2/5): - Unsecured room door, piles of garbage under the bed, roof leaking water onto one of the beds, strong cigarette and pretty surely moldy stench that I literally can't get rid of from my nose a full day after sleeping over. Sleeping on the road in front of the hotel would be more pleasant than actually staying in if it wasn't for the rain
- Abraham (2/5): - Horrible. We booked this hotel and they sent confirmation on my phone and email then after enjoying Saturday night in London we went to sleep to this hotel but no one was there. then I called them and they told me that my card is not accepted which is very disappointing . After all they sent me all this confirmation and booking code they didn’t take the money from my account but we stayed homeless on that day . We slept on a train platform because all the hotels was fully booked as it’s Saturday night. This was my worst day of my life
- Nigel (2/5): - Filthy. Mattress on the landing. Broken windows. Litter on the room floor. I could go on, I just want to forget the stay…
- Josefina (2/5): - Owner lived across and you had to call. Carpet stained, had to ask for towel. Just 1 piflat pillow.
- Ololade (10/5): - Dirty house, poor toilet cleaning.
- Taha (6/5): - TV not working
- Usman (2/5): Waste of money - Really bad experience. No tissue papers and other things which every hotel provides was not there. Poor reception we waiting 1h outside the hotel since there was no staff in the reception. Many more things really bad experience
- Irwin (4/5): worst and filthy hotel - Im a traveller for 20 years, and i dont have a high hotel standard… and this is my first time to write a bad review
The info written was incorrect and doesnt exist.
It took me almost an hour to get in. I was outside ringing the doorbell for almost an hour then an old woman from outside approach me that i need to go to the next street to get the key to her husband.
Upon going to my room at the 2nd floor, i’ve seen bags of rubbish piled up along the hallway. The carpet was so dirty with a very foul odour.
Inside my room, it doesnt look the same as what i saw in hotel.com
No coffee kettle, no rubbish/bin, no toiletries, TV not working, window was broken, the curtain was hanging by a metal clip.
The bed was tidy but it looks like it was used by someone for a few days. The bedsheet, duvet and pillow smells like someone who hasn’t had a shower/bath for weeks sleeps there. The bed has bedbugs.
There was a folded towel, but i was shocked and disgusted because it has a stain and it smells poop.
Theres a pantry/kitchen but it is very filthy
The water from the shower was so slow.
The good thing that i will say are… the toilet and sink is clean, my room is quiet with good wifi signal.
I wish i believe on the review about this property. There are better hotel/hostel for a £35/night than this.
upon checking out i have to go back to the owners house across next street to leave the key, and laugh when the old woman ask me to put a good review of her hotel.
- Boga (4/5): - Dirty bed, Dirty toilet….very disappointing. the “hotel” needs some renovation and CLEANING
- Haila Mary (2/5): Disgusting!!! - When i booked this, i saw the photos in Hotels.com but was totally different in Google and so disgusting in person.
No proper reception
The stairs leading to the rooms were filled with linens which we later realized they air dry for next use.
The room is filthy, dust everywhere. You can literally choke with it
Unsure if the linens were really clean
And they even entered our room whilst we were away to put another linen on to the radiator to dry it up
Curtains were torn
One single chair was damaged and no bins
- Verified traveler (4/5): - Poor condition room, bed uncomfortable, amenities didn't work TV or wifi)
- Tomasz (2/5): - be careful not even worth it for free!disgusting stinking piss, dirty, stink, the whole flat should be for overhaul please avoid.
- Jenna (2/5): Do Not Stay Here! - My daughter (7) and I were supposed to be staying here for two nights as part of her birthday trip to London. It was literally meant to be a place to sleep and that is it. We checked in about lunchtime, but that was to drop off luggage, I wish I had looked around better before we came back to sleep.
Just a few problems.
Room (Generally): was dirty, with rubbish down the side of the bed. Key to the room took about five minutes to work.
Window: had a hole in it, and only covered by duck tape and cardboard, thus it was so cold even next to the radiator and loud, as we were near Victoria, it simply felt like we were just outside. The curtain was falling off so let all the light in
Beds: were basically broken, dipping majorly in the middle, and there were stains on the sheets.
Bathroom: mould, the toilet didn’t always work, or any of the lights in there (which maybe a good thing)
Communal Areas: Wires going up and down the stairs, my daughter accidentally touched them and said she got a shock. The bottom of the window had rottened away, leaving a huge hole. Rubbish just left on the landings
I know I only paid £76 for two nights in central London, but I still expect some sort of standard like being able to get some sleep and not worrying for my daughter's safety. This place shouldn’t be on this website, it is dangerous!
I got my money back from the owner, after an argument. His wife asked us not to report them! Thankfully we found a new hotel to stay at!
- Ms Claire (2/5): - We had to wait a long time for the owner to arrive and let us in. There was a strong smell of weed in the corridor and rubbish in the hall. The front door was stuck and separate door to our room had a large hole in it. The light didn't work in the bathroom and the toilet had a stain build up. The curtain was hanging off badly and held together by a pin. There was debris still remaining from the previous occupant that had not been cleared. This is the first air b n b that I have stayed in that I have been really dissatisfied with.
- Megan (2/5): - Firstly they do ask you give them a few minuets when ringing the door bell as they could be upstairs, but after 15 minutes an older man comes hobbling over from across the road, who was wearing filthy clothes. No official check in was given a tatty bit of paper to write my name and address down but the guy didn’t have a pen! Then he gave me a soap and a toilet roll incase the housekeeping hadn’t put one in the room. Going up the stairs to the room you have to watch as on the first landing there was a pile of rubbish waiting to be put out (I suffered 2 nights and the rubbish was still there when I left) and going further up the Internet router is sitting on the stairs with the cables coming out. Also the net curtains on the landings look like they haven’t been washed in 30 years, I guess at one time they were white but are now quite an impressive shade of black. Once getting into my room and looking at the bed I found three hairs under the cover on the bed sheet which did make me questing if they were in fact clean sheets. The carpet had a very worrying stain, which was very well light from the window as the curtain was literally hanging from one ring so was pretty much useless. After I braved getting in the bed I did however find it comfortable and also my private toilet did look quite clean. Sleep on the first night was very hard as I was woken a few times in the early hours by people wanting to use the shared bathroom but couldn’t as another guest was in there smoking weed
- Marcel (6/5): - Can’t complain too much for the price but they could
- Matthew (2/5): - I turned up at the property and the front door was locked and the sign said full.
I tried both numbers on the door and no one picked up, no way to leave a voicemail either.
I also tried the number from the email I received from Expedia with no joy.
I used the bell and repeatedly knocked for about 40 minutes.
I had to then book another hotel at a cost of £150.00 that very day.
The inside looked empty, run down from the outside of the front door, signs were made with pen and paper.
This Hotel is undoubtedly a scam.
Do NOT book this hotel.
- Gillian (2/5): - I want my money back. There was no bin in the room, no bath towel for showering. There was a draught coming in from outside even though the windows were closed. There was no duvet which is very wild, considering we’re in winter and the shower was broken and I had to wash with a cup and water from the sink.
- Bradley (2/5): Don’t go here - Possibly the worst hotel I’ve ever stayed in
- Zahid (2/5): - No heater, highly congested, poor beddings and terrible washrooms. Please don’t go there. Not recommended in any case.
- Yulian (10/5): - I got exactly what I expected. I needed it not expensive room with good location.
- MISS (8/5): No frills room with excellent customer service - Door was locked on arrival, someone came over shortly to open up and let me in. Excellent service and support. Very friendly and helpful with fantastic local knowledge and good general advice. The room was very basic with no frills whatsoever, but seeing I was caught out unexpected with nowhere to stay overnight after missing a travel connection this was a perfect cheap stay 5 mins walk from Victoria station with all my luggage. Didn't appear to be any staff on site, I turned up after 11pm and they did not rush me out of the room the next day so I was able to rest well and use the free wifi. The room was fairly clean overall. I was nearly put off by some of the other reviews but it was late and I needed somewhere very close. And low cost, as I had not budgeted for a night in London. This was perfect, no complaints for what I paid.
- Wayne (2/5): - The biggest dump in London!
- Alex (2/5): - This hotel should be removed from Expedia. The worst hotel I have ever stayed in with blood-stained sheets and outright dangerous, unsanitary conditions. It should be shut down by the local authorities. To not have washable, replaceable duvet covers in this day and age is appalling.
- Lakpa (4/5): Unpleasant experience - I booked twin room with en-suite but they didn't had that for me coz they had problem with shower water and they didn't had key for another room as previous guest took it. Staff was nice enough to offer me double room or told me if I don't want to stay they will refund me. I had no choice but to stay as i had no where to go and the other hotels nearby were fully booked. the room which was given to me was so dirty. Mirror was dirty, chair looked like it hasn't been cleaned for years, shower cubical was dirty, toilet seat was broken, floor carpet was so dirty, there was rubbish in the corner of the bed. when I booked the hotel it said it comes with hair dryer, kettle, tea and coffee, toiletries etc but there was nothing. It says I hair dryer on request but i could never find any staff when I needed the hairdryer. Online pictures are all lies and they should never do false advertising. I think there was other guest smoking within the building coz I could smell weed every time I was going out and coming back. Overall such an unpleasant stay. only had to stay there coz I had no choice. Never booking there again.
- Junaid (2/5): - Very poor and run down below basic
- Tianxu (2/5): - extremely dirty, It seems they get their everything from rubbish bin. And I have the feeling staying in rubbish dump.
NO duvet, I had a bad row with them. They had very rude manner.
They seems they donot run a hotel, they want to practice some swindle and criminal. But I feel very lucky that I leave the so called hotel without hurt and lost nothing! Thank GOD!
- Elom (8/5): - Everything was fine the staff were polite and helpful the only issue was the shower wasn’t as hot as it could’ve been
- joseph (10/5): - correct
- Verified traveler (4/5): Faulty Towers Doesn’t Come Close Enough! 😂🤣☹️👎 - Where do I start… From check-in to check-out this was an experience not for the faint hearted!
The room was dirty and dusty and falling apart at the seams! Literalally! From curtains to shower-curtains falling off the rails! The door wouldn’t close! The carpets were torn and stuck down with tape! The TV didn’t work, no kettle cups or soap! Barely what was once a bed! With some old fit for nothing furniture!
Aside from the room the service was provided by one of the owners (very frail looking chap) that lived across the road and took at least half an hour to get from his house to the hotel l (we timed him once following the fire alarm sounding for at least an hour one morning and his very delayed; almost relaxed response to deactivating the alarm which took over an hour to respond too! Good job is was only a false alarm! 🔥🧯🚒
After the initial nights stay any extension must be paid for in Cash💰(as we were told to the Lady of the House Mrs Aday) no tax please! and (do not give this to the son as we mistakenly did; as He aparently has a drink 🥃 problem and spends it all on booze!!!🍷🍺🍹🍸) 😆
Best of all was being told that the booking must be cut short as they had a booking where the hotel was fully booked due to a coach-full of people coming and all rooms being double booked! Only to see the whole place being available on Hotels.com and various other travel websites… We clearly upset the family business by being a bit too truthful! Oh well! Stay at your peril! ⛔️ ⚠️
- Stuart (2/5): - Very poor place that needs sorting out before people should be allowed to stay
- Adrian (2/5): NO... NEVER. Read other reviews. - RUN AWAY - AVOID - DO NOT ENTER. If you are looking for a filthy, dangerous, death trap, you are here.
The person checking people in is nice but that's where it ends.
Rubbish swept into corners in corridors containing items of clothing and general rubbish.
Room has no curtains or blinds, Filthy carpet, filthy facilities and a toilet which is best left undescribed.
This place should be closed down immediately.
"Covid secure" I dont think so!!!
Other rooms were open and looked like people left in a hurry....
Might have been cleaned in the 1970's but not since.
Reported to Westminster council who are investigating.
- James (2/5): - Congratulations Golden Star hotel you’ve certainly pulled the wool over my eyes with your faked website room photos of swan sculptured towels atop a clean acceptable bed. What a vile little hole you dare call accommodation!! You should be ashamed of yourselves conning decent honest people into believe that they have any chance of a relaxed, comfortable stay as any kind of guests at this dump. Nothing in the realms of decency exists in your hotel. Stains galore everywhere. Will report our review to Expedia.
- Verified traveler (4/5): - very cold room, heater is not working, bedsheets looked like it was not changed at all, booked for double bed however two single beds with different heights were put together,
- Mark (2/5): Avoid at all costs - Dreadful conditions
- mark (4/5): - the wifi was good and the shower and heating worked
- hayley (2/5): Avoid worst hotel stay ever !!!!!! - Arrived on time, room wasn’t even ready. Then told wasn’t key to get front door when arrive back evening I’d have ring bell (which no one answered or telephones was stood outside till 1am) go to room was given no key for room told I have leave door open, until I kicked off and given master key not to there liking.
No tea and coffee facilities as booking stated.
Bedding had blood on it and pillows wafer thin.
The toilet didn’t work and had urine from past stayer. Shower didn’t work
The bathroom was filthy
The customer service was rubbish
I ended up checking out at 645 I couldn’t cope no longer.
All I say is avoid
- Rob (2/5): - This place should be closed down, windows smashed in my corridor, damp everywhere , rooms have definitely not been cleaned ethier.
- Jenni (6/5): - For the fact we wefe only using it for one night it was okay. There is no 'reception' so me and my friend were very confused when we arrived. The heating was on when we got there and was on all night and we couldnt turn it off. The shower was leaking and ghere was water on the floor near the toilet
- Hannah (2/5): - Waited for half an hour to be let in after we rang to let them know we were there. No light bulb in the room, no duvet covers, dirty sheets, broken furniture and the whole room was filthy and covered in dust. The windows didn’t shut and we’re broken and with no heating the room was absolutely freezing. Because of this we couldn’t sleep because it was so cold (and it’s only October.) Was very disappointed with this hotel and wouldn’t EVER stay here again and wouldn’t recommend anyone staying her.
- Verified traveler (2/5): Worst Hotel I've ever stayed in. - The host seemed like a nice enough guy but I'm afraid he should not be running a hotel, or at least he needs to do better.
Things that were ripped/damaged - Bedding, Curtains, Carpet, Walls.
Things that were dirty - Bedding, Floor, Shower, Toilet, Mirror, TV (how?)
Couldn't shut the door from the outside without tremendous effort (no handle to pull the door to)
Couldn't get to the shower (not that I wanted to) without climbing over the toilet.
Couldn't sleep because of thin walls and an arguing couple in the next room (she was probably disappointed in the husband's choice of hotel)
Lots of exposed wires
TV remote didn't work
Couldn't accept card payment and had no change for cash payment
Couldn't wait to get out. I guess this is why it was so cheap, but then again I paid less for a room in Edinburgh that was far, far, far better than this. So low cost shouldn't mean sub par facilities.
- Verified traveler (6/5): Not great but didn’t expect that much from it tbh - For the price, it wasn’t all that bad. You don’t pay much so don’t expect much. Room wasn’t even that small. Just a bit filthy. There wasn’t anyone there so someone else, who was also waiting outside, called and someone came to check us in. There’s no reception.
- Zara (4/5): - The owner is lovely, will try and please as best he can.
You get what you pay for with London prices.
We only used this as a base to sleep.
The beds need replacing, we had two rooms during our stay and in both the mattresses needed replacing as did the bases.
Cleaning in the main room could be improved our first room had cigarette butts and ash between bed and wall (we don't smoke). 2nd room had leftover food and an odd trainee in the draws and cupboards.
Showers were hot and clean in the 2nd room, 1st room needs a new bathroom suit.
General building maintenance needs work with broken windows, rotten wood frames and holes in external doors.
Real shame as owner cannot be faulted for customer service.
- warren ian (10/5): - Very affordable and very comfortable room. Well worth the money
- Phillip (2/5): Read t reviews - I'm sorry but this hotel is not fit for human habitation. When t toilet doesn't flush, t shower head can't point towards u. T bed looks rotten and t pillows smells of grease and sweat and that was an upgrade. T landing smells of pot but luckily t windows remained permanently open that's was badly rotten. Positive those looking after t hotel were nice.
- Scott (10/5): - It was great. Friendly clean experience in a great location
- Eldor (10/5): - It was very good experience for this price. Very good location- London center, 5 min to Victoria station, 5 min to subway and 15 min to BigBen
- Andrew (4/5): - We didn't like the hotel, not sure if it should be open as a hotel in that state
- Verified traveler (2/5): Blood and leaks. - There was blood on the sheets so we asked to change rooms, the room we were given was leaking from two separate areas, onto the bed and then started leaking in another area in the middle of the night. Very gross room the toilet wasn’t working, the shower wasn’t working. Even though we paid for en suite we had to go upstairs to the toilet which was in terrible condition. Disgusting rooms!
- Dean (2/5): - Avoid at all costs. Beds felt unsafe with next to no support. Shower was old and dilapidated with poor hygiene. You get what you pay for. The only positive - it’s 5 minutes walk to Victoria Coach Station
- Verified traveler (2/5): - Don't come here. Smelly, humid beds, tape on the carpet, unclean, we arrived and left immediately after seeing the room condition.
- ANDREW (8/5): It wasn't that bad! - I had a good stay here, the owner was chatty, kind and informative, the room was small and quaint with two beds and a tiny bathroom. A few issues I had was the toilet didn't work, the window wouldn't close and the TV didn't work, other than that you get what you paid for, the building is old as it is London and the rooms do need a small but of TLC and an updated carpet, but the bed was comfortable with fresh sheets, overall it was pleasent! Thank you guys.
- Lloyd (2/5): - No answer of the phone so didnt know what time reception door was locked. Took my money and had to sleep in my van. WOW!!!!
Perfetic to hones
- Andrey (6/5): - As the old saying goes, you get what you pay for. Place wasn’t very clean, had to ask for towel and toilet paper
- Anthony (10/5): - The room was good for the price, family run business. The owners are very polite and attentive.
- Neil (4/5): - Given a twin room rather than a double.
Beds were very well worn/lumpy.
Ensuite shower was stuck to scalding hot, toilet cistern ran continuously.
Room was recently painted and clean, but window broken.
- Kenny (4/5): - You get what you pay for but theres no need for a room to be that dirty
- Cindy (4/5): - The property was very dirty and the tv wasn’t working.
- William (2/5): - Unfortunately this property is not really fit for human occupation. Exceptionally wet carpet in one room, broken and mouldy shower with exposed wires in the ceiling, filthy carpet and bedspread. Bedbugs. Insufficient curtains. Unreliable electricity. Indescribable stains on the walls. Stinks of cabbage.
- Verified traveler (4/5): - Not very organised not very cleaned water was dripping from the upstairs room all night.
