Guest Reviews
- Kaylone (2/5): - This was the property from hell; when me and my children arrived the front of the building was demolished and unrecognizable, the hotel staff had no clue that the hotel is booked as Ocean Inn so we had to wait for them to figure out what hotel we were supposed to be at in which they called it Captains Quarters, staff then called security to escort us to the hotel entrance who said they didnt know anything about that or how to assist. Once they figured that out the balcony door wouldn’t lock. It was clearly off track bc in my attempt to lock it I could pick it up and move it. Maintenance was called to fix the door at 12:30a and we waited 35-50 minutes on resolve. The next morning I went to shower and it didn’t work. I called front desk multiples times with no answer. I ended up hitting my highs and lows in the sink and the pipes were leaking. I checked out early and ended up missing out on what we drove 4 hours for which was the beach because we couldn’t shower after bc that was a horrible mess.
- Nichole (2/5): - I booked the Ocean Inn and could never even find it. After looking for a number to get ahold of, it was a completely different place so no wonder I couldn’t find it. The only explanation he gave me on why it’s a different name is that it’s a better deal. I asked for a cancellation because we never even made it and they denied it. The place where we were looking for it looked very sketchy and unsafe
- Moises (10/5): - Good
- Susan (2/5): - I booked through Expedia for this property “oceans Inn“, the current property is condemned, appearing, no sign to even let you know what the property is, the neighboring hotel the captains quarters was fabulous at accommodating us. Apparently oceans Inn is going to be part of the captains quarters but it’s not yet reconstructed but yet it was booked online. The staff at Captains quarters Were unbelievably helpful professional, and went out of their way to accommodate us and find us available rooms. Extremely disappointed in Expedia.
- Toshiba (2/5): - Waited 4 hours before getting a room that was reserved and paid for in advance, i arrived at 12 noon, checkin was 3pm didnt get a room til 7p. And before that they couldnt find my reservation for awhile smh, so unorganized hotel name is different from what was booked ocean inn turned out being captains quarters, so weird, really bad experience
- TiNesha (6/5): - This is really Captains Quarters Resorts and it Should not be called a resort. Hotel rooms are damp inside if you get an oceanview room. Balcony windows are poorly insulated. If you don't keep the a/c on freezer mode the condensation drips from the ceiling. Elevators are super small with no a/c & not clean. Lobby entrance has steps inside that you have to go through to get to elevators, super inconvenient with luggage. Bathroom is super small, toilet 1ft away from the door. Rooms are somewhat outdated, definitely not worth the price.
However, it is a step away from the beach. Patio & pools are nice. Staff was pleasant.
- April (6/5): Wouldn't recommend - Would have been nice to have housekeeping throughout our stay. Or at least know there was NONE at all while we were staying. Also woulda been nice to know we had to pay extra for parking and exactly where to park when there was over-flow of hotel parking deck. Lastly I requested ground floor w/ myself and a friend sans kids which I made front desk aware of my much needed kid free weekend yet where do they stick me? Smack dab in the middle of the kiddie pool right off & in front of our balcony. So instead of waking up to the ocean sounds every morning it was kid's screaming and construction going on at 8 a.m. Wouldn't stay here again due to experience.
- Jennifer (4/5): Not as pictured - This is not ocean inn as pictures. It’s captains quarters. Old. Rooms somewhat updated but bathrooms very old. AC in room worked well at least
- Kimberly (8/5): - Ocean I’ll doesn’t exist fyi it’s captains quarters
- Antrowna (8/5): - It was a property with a great location
- Sandi (8/5): - Paying to park at a hotel is not my idea of a good time.
- April (4/5): - I didn’t like the parking. Ran out of parking and had to park in overflow. Didn’t know I had to pay for parking. Elevators were tiny. Everywhere was so humid. Staff never answered the phone. They were nice though. Good location, hotel just needs remodeling.
- Ashley (8/5): - The room we had overlooked the pools and beach and it was a great stay!
- Skyler (10/5): - The staff was absolutely incredible. Location was fantastic with it's 20 second walk to the beach! Food was great at level 6 arcade! The only thing I would say they could improve on is updating the building in some areas for example the elevator could be refurnished. Overall we couldn't have asked for a better 1st vacation spot with a family of 5!
- Kari (2/5): - The ocean inn does not exist it’s part of a children’s resort ! We walked for miles and no one new the hotel ! Expedia needs to update there stuff
- Rebecca (4/5): Find another place to stay. - Lazy river inside was coated in mold and not usable. All inside pools, etc had mold on the sides. Bathroom was dirty. Everything looks run down, dirty, and needs painting and repairing. Elevator has a weak spot on the floor-scary.
- John (6/5): - Did not have any hot water during my stay. Could not take a shower and management never attempted to resolve this matter
- Verified traveler (10/5): - The parking as well as staff and security. Easy access to the beach and plenty of amenities to use.
- Verified traveler (10/5): - Excellent services
- Verified traveler (2/5): - Parking on same level as room. Ocean View Rooms. Hot tub.
- Amber (2/5): The good, the bad and the ugly - Location was good; in the middle of quite a few things, but there were roaches in our room. We were up half the night by drunk, loud and obnoxious people. The hotel can't help that part but that just added to the overall terrible experience. We were only there one night, if we had a longer trip, we would have created a bigger fuss.
- Verified traveler (4/5): - Room wasn’t clean I had a time getting staff to bring sheets an cleaning supplies!!! I would give this hotel a 4...
- Clarence (6/5): - It was a good stay however tere were roaches in the hotel room. I hope they fix that problem soon.
- Brandi (8/5): pleasantly surprised!!! - The location is amazing right on the beach!! It is a motel that is owned by captains cove which i didn’t mind because we still got to use everything that the resort next door had! The only thing i didn’t like was that it was outdated and the tub wasn’t sparkling clean like normal hotels. The shower had amazing water pressure through! I think this is perfect if you’re on a budget and don’t mind outdated rooms!! there was a total of 6 pools i think and 4 hot tubs! Also you get a discount for the restaurant and the food was amazing!!!
- Verified traveler (2/5): - Customer service was horrible, the room wasn't as clean as we hoped. We found hair balls all over the bathroom. The hallways were dirty. There was no extra mirrors outside of the bathroom. We showed up to make the reservation on time. BUT WE HAD TO WAIT 2 HOURS for the the room to be ready and we had to go in TWICE into the reception desk to ask and they told us that we had to wait another 30 min!! . AND WE STILL WERENT SATISFIED with the room. The bathroom wasnt as clean as we hoped. The bathroom mirror frame wasn't properly cleaned. The bathtub wasn't either. And to make things worse, we didnt even get the blue wristbands. Overall, i wasnt satisfied with the room or the customer service of the ocean inn.
- Verified traveler (10/5): - First off, I don’t get why there’s such bad reviews. I read them and decided to give this place a try anyways and so glad I did. The room was great and my ocean view was PERFECT. Staff was great and helpful. Couldn’t ask for anything more honestly. Rooms were clean, got an hour of free bowling per day, heated pools, beds were decent. Honestly people, what are you expecting for 50 dollars a night??? If you want the Hilton, go there and stay and get over yourselves. This place was great.
- Verified traveler (2/5): - I didn’t like the parking the cleaning lady came in my room while I was still in bed didn’t ask to come back came in my room while I wasn’t there...there was spider in the room the I got bit by have a picture of the spider on the front door the water in the shower had a drip to it & out of date the refrigerator didn’t get cold enough upon check in I had to wait over an hour in line & then my information somehow didn’t get into the system the view wasn’t good couldn’t hardly see the ocean
- Michael (2/5): Don’t book here - Thank God they moved us to another location.
That place was run down and horrible. But I’m glad they moved us.
- Sandy (4/5): - Difficult to find based on address zip code and name of hotel. CHECK IN TO CAPTAINS QUARTERS, you will be directed from there. This a much older hotel, the door to our bathroom wouldn't close, like door frame was too small for door size. Paid for an ocean front view...got pool view. Only plus is you can get access to Captains Quarters hotel. The breakfast buffet was decent, slow at getting seated, minimal hot food variety, there was no one at the omelet station.
- Verified traveler (6/5): - Very old and dated. However ocean side room was nice
- Verified traveler (6/5): - I was lucky enough to get an "updated room". But I had to ask for. Initially they wanted to give me a room that was not recently renovated. The rooms look terrible! The one we got, in the big building was good, except the bathroom. Would I recommend the hotel? Probably not, because it's too much of a risk, which room someone receives.
- Nelly (2/5): 00000 - First The name of the is not ocean inn, secondly is captain quarters and you guys doesn’t not specify on the wed site, the rooms doesn’t looks like nothing at all how looks at the pictures fully disappointed
- Carolyn (4/5): - The website that gives you pictures of what you’re buying is not at all close to what you actually get! You pay all this money for a good hotel room and end up getting something that looks like it’s been there since hotels first began!
- Tonya (6/5): Will book a different location - Directions were awful. Took me 5 hours to find the place then finally called and it was a totally different name. So no wonder I couldn't find it. Parking was scarce and they charge $10. The pool areas were nice and fun though. Never ate from the food services. Beds were not so comfortable but we did stay in the oldest section of the hotel. FYI: GPS took me 22 miles out of the way
- Verified traveler (4/5): - I like it was close to the ocean and the pool area. The room wasn’t clean and shower didn’t work correctly
- Verified traveler (4/5): - too different from web site. Website it is very clean and ocean view. Actual was not. It is difficult to reach rheee
- Verified traveler (6/5): Not worth the money - Not a true ocean front hotel only three floors my view was ocean front but could only see the pool.
- Brad (2/5): Ocean Inn is not the Name - It's not called Ocean Inn it's called Captains Quarters so we found out after several calls. Then instead of the rooms shown on the web page they put us next door in a motel 6 type building that never got cool .
- Mary T (4/5): Avoid like the plague! - As part of a resort, $15 for parking, charges for umbrellas, beach chairs, etc. added up quickly. Breakfast was not included! The room was dingy, outdated, and the bathtub was overdue for replacement. Sleeping on a boxspring, both beds were in the same lousy condition, caused little sleep. The beach side rooms had an unlit hallway and between the noise from outdoor shows, scooters, loud music, etc. sleep in your car and do no thing waste your money. The staff was very friendly and the room was as clean as possible for the outdated furnishings.
- Sarah (6/5): Very Disappointed - Very disappointed. No bugs is the best I can say. Ceilings falling in in the bathroom, flat pillows, disrepair everywhere. Pictures on the booking site we absolutely not accurate. Will not stay here again!
- Verified traveler (4/5): Myrtle Beach SC - the room was at the end of a dark hallway even during the day no daylight, asked for a different room and no additional rooms available, parking was less than desirable, the bath tub had a hole in the bottom and dirt kept coming up thru the hole.
- Joseph (4/5): - They charged me for parking then I had to park where parking was free. It was also 30 minutes from my event location
- Verified traveler (4/5): False advertising - The hotel was a motel and the "ocean view" was a view of the parking lot. The room was nothing like the picture represented in hotels.com. I will never use this service again. I am very disappointment.
- James (2/5): BAD - This place was hard to fine the name is not the same as on here. Once there the room was in bad the door you had to beat open and closed the curtains had holes in them. It said Ocean view but there was not. Lazy river only Had 4 tubes to use.
- Christle (8/5): - Overall stay was good but it could use some remodeling of the exterior building & grounds. Bedding was hard and a little uncomfortable.
- Kari (2/5): Get what you pay for - Checked in to the Ocean Inn, opened the door to our room and walked right back out to the front desk. Room was dirty, very outdated and our "ocean front" suite was on the 1st floor with a lovely view of the pool and trees. They really need to renovate this whole building. Its pretty bad. The hotel staff was amazing and we got a full refund and went and stayed elsewhere!
- Verified traveler (4/5): No sleep, misleading ad on expedia - Noisy, bed hard as a board amounting to NO sleep, thought we were getting a side view of the ocean turned into a view of the parking lot only, extra hotel fees not specified at time of booking! Trying to park resulted in bent kayak carrier after parking attendant stated "oh you can make it".
- Jessica (2/5): Save your sanity, book elsewhere!! - The only saving grace of this hotel is the location. It is RIGHT on the beach, has a great outdoor pool/lazy river/Jacuzzi area, and access to the neighboring hotel's outdoor pool/"water park", pools and indoor pool. With that being said, I have never stayed in a hotel in this type of condition. We stayed on the second level of this. Getting to the room was a feat as our sandals were STUCK to the disgusting outdoor carpeted walkway. We had to throw our bodies at the door to get it to open. The room was quite gross. There was a smell of stale cigarettes and marijuana even though it has a "no-smoking" sign on the door, the conditions of the room left MUCH to be desired. After staying a night, we needed the linens on our bed changed (traveling with children). The FIRST call was placed around 9am. They said they would take care it. Three ADDITIONAL calls throughout the day resulted in us having to go to the lobby in the neighboring hotel to get blankets and required linens since there was no one to bring them to us. We were asked on out last day there if housekeeping was needed by a lady who knocked very loudly and then just came in despite us shouting "one-minute." There was an incident involving the hotel next to the property resulting in health concerns and respiratory issues for several guests, however nothing was shared with guests to ease concerns. Only those who directly approached staff were informed and no two stories were the same. I DO NOT recommend this hotel!
- HUNG (8/5): - love it... very close to beach n good deal co compare around ...
- Verified traveler (2/5): bait and switch - Pictures are misleading. The Ocean Inn is actually a rundown motel. The room was infested with flies, smelled of mildew, no covering on the light switch, the bathroom was dirty with rusted faucet fixtures and mildewed tub. While we had "access" to resort amenities and we paid a Resort fee, we were not staying in the resort. False advertising at its best!
- Verified traveler (8/5): Close to beach with great pools - Hotel on the beach with lazy river, pools and mini play center. Great family hotel
- Verified traveler (2/5): - Sad will not use Expedia again not helpful it was the worst hotel room ever nasty
