Guest Reviews
- Lisa (10/5): - The owner greeted me when checking in. Gave recommendations for dinner
- Robert (10/5): - Very clean. Friendly owner. Rooms appear to be recently remodeled. King rooms are quite large with chairs and desk. Microwave available in the common area. Basic continental breakfast. Large covered veranda stretches across the entire front of the motel. Room doors have electronic locks on the outside of the door but no locks or chains to secure them from the inside.
- Susan (10/5): - Everything was very clean. There was a sweet little Pomeranian that greeted the visitors. Very quiet. Liked the large porch with tables and swings. Wish there was a fridge and microwave and a closet to hang clothes. But it was fine.
- Matthew (6/5): - Was a nice room.breakfast is junk.
- Verified traveler (8/5): - .
- Verified traveler (8/5): - Clean but, no hair dryer, no fridge, no iron , no extra blankets
- Verified traveler (10/5): - The property and the Inn were very well kept. The owner and staff are very courteous and friendly. He even went out of his way to help my daughter when her vehicle wouldn't start. Rooms, lobby and kitchen were extremely clean. I would recommend to anyone staying in or near AuGres.
- Verified traveler (10/5): - Missed not having a refrigerator but everything else was great.
- Verified traveler (10/5): - mom and pop business. friendly and well kept.
- Verified traveler (10/5): - Great customer service with friendly, helpful staff. Nice accommodations, clean rooms.
- Verified traveler (10/5): Great stay - Great hotel with small town charm.
- Tamara (10/5): - Room was clean and the owner knowledgeable about the area.
- Rolland (10/5): A Great Experience! - This hotel was a great experience. Loved our stay and we would sign up again!
- Greg (8/5): - The parking lot was big which was great for parking my boat. Close to the boat launch. Rooms were nice and clean. Air conditioned room was fabulous.
- Melanie (10/5): - It was very quaint. Very clean and quiet. I enjoyed my stay
- Verified traveler (2/5): Bad experience - Extremely small room for the price. Smallest room I’ve ever slept in. The bed box spring was the loudest on earth. People upstairs doing something all night long. Didn’t sleep at all.
- Cyndi (10/5): - We loved the front porch atmosphere! Location was great. It was walking distance to a resturant, party store, grocery store, library, and laundromat. It was also very quiet, especially for being on a main street.
- Verified traveler (8/5): - Super cute, lots of outside sitting, rooms were bright, clean and well set up. The only major downer was breakfast-peanut butter in a jar rather than single serve, no juice offerings other than orange and I'm allergic, no cereal, no waffles, not pastries other than a bag of stale bagels. It was inedible and I ended up spending $29 in the bakery down the road (fantastic!) instead, raising the cost of the stay dramatically.
- Lori (10/5): Great stay in Au Gres - It was awesome and they are pet friendly. Bed was great and shower was awesome!!
- Verified traveler (10/5): - Clean, well kept rooms. Would definitely stay again if in the area. So glad to find NO heavy blankets or coverlets on the bed as seems to be a trend. Not sure if this gets to the owners, but would suggest a towel bar or ring by the sink and do something different regarding bedspreads. Trend is away from covering pillow as bedspreads are not washed with each stay and colds/flu etc can be transferred that way. Beds were very comfortable.
- Verified traveler (8/5): - really nice classic feel, staff walked in on room with dnd sign on door twice.
- Verified traveler (10/5): - Very clean, nicely renovated, Desk Clerk very helpful and kind
- Verified traveler (10/5): - The owner and staff were great and very welcoming. The rooms were comfortable and very clean.
- Bearssy (10/5): - Nice place to stay. The staff was very friendly and helpful!
- Mary Ann (8/5): Good choice for the price - Nice place. Very clean and well kept. Air worked well-important in the heat wave we experienced. All the desk people were friendly and accommodating. The snack machine needs a refill as it had very
few choices. Could use more linens. No blanket and only two towels of each size. Limited but adequate breakfast choices. Could have used some FRESH fruit. Hard to find a local restaurant.
- Verified traveler (10/5): - I wish all motels were this clean & well taken care of. Everything is clean & neat. Best looking breakfast area.
- Paula (10/5): - Very clean, looks newly remodeled. Staff on check in and out were extremely friendly.
- Verified traveler (10/5): - Everything was great! We really enjoyed our stay, our room was very clean and the bed was so comfortable. Enjoyed the complimentary breakfast especially the excellent coffee! I highly recommend Edmonds Inn.
- Allen (6/5): Ok but far from perfect - Didn’t check into my room until 20:30 pm. Had called the hotel twice to tell them I wouldn’t check in until late in the day. They said ok there’s someone there 24 hrs.
I get in to register only to hear them say they’re been trying to call me a few times to ask if I still wanted the room because they wanted to release it to someone. Find out they had the wrong number. That was hotel. Com’s fault.
They didn’t have my king size bed I reserved but gave me a suite with three full size beds. That I didn’t like at all.Breakfast was a joke of sunnyD orange juice coffee and toast. We went out to eat.
- Verified traveler (10/5): - Very clean. No frills but very well maintained and up to date.
- TerryandJane (10/5): - The cleanliness was impressive. The covered patio and porch swing was a great feature.
- Verified traveler (8/5): - Close to fishing. Clean and unexpectedly comfortable.
- Verified traveler (10/5): - Excellent place. Very clean and comfortable. Feels like a second home. Great people.
- Judy (10/5): - Edmund’s Au Gres Inn in Tawas is a gem! From the outside you cannot tell that everything is new and perfect inside. Very nice looking and excellent spotlessly clean place in a beach community. The owner said they gutted the place inside and totally redid it. New walls, floors, windows, ceramic tile, everthing! Our bedspread was ironed! Could tell it had been freshly washed. Breakfast was instant oatmeal, bagels, cream cheese, yogurt, orange juice, bananas and apples, and peanut butter. Just enough to be healthy. On the outside, a nice porch with comfy chairs and swings and a big heater. What a fun place. My only suggestion is that they should get dead bolts on doors that we could use from inside. I will definitely stay here again! The outside is clean and nice but doesn’t draw you in. So I am telling you, the room is spacious, mattress is comfy and all is cute. Wonderful $100 room.
- Verified traveler (10/5): The staff was awesome - Very friendly staff with a great clean motel experience. They make you feel as much at home as possible. 😁 definitely would stay again.
- Verified traveler (8/5): Nice Inn in Au Gres - This is a nice motel in Au Gres. The owner is very nice and helpful. She really tries to help take care of her guests. This inn was redone a few years ago and is updated and clean.
Breakfast is pretty basic, but a typical continental breakfast.
The only odd thing is that there are no interior locks on the doors such as a chain you can put on door or an inside only deadbolt.
- S (6/5): - I thought I was arriving at a motel so I was surprised when I was told my room was on the second floor. I asked for a ground floor room but was told it would cost more. The room was updated and clean and the full bed was comfortable. There was no frig or coffee machine in the room. I think the room was overpriced ($80) for the amenities and lack of attractions. If I had a do over, I would stay in Tawas City where I spent most of the day at a beautiful city park on the water.
- Verified traveler (10/5): - Our room was nicely laid out and very clean. All the amenities worked great and were very comfortable.
- Jack (10/5): - Nice clean, comfortable rooms. Good overall for a roadside motel.
- Marge (10/5): - Clean, friendly, accommodating
Anytime I ran into the owners, they asked if there was anything they could help me with.
Modernized motel in small town near a Great Lake
- Ron (10/5): - Friendly staff, very clean throughout, will definitely stay there again.
- Ann-Marie (10/5): - Very clean, comfortable rooms. Staff was very friendly.
- Verified traveler (10/5): - Very friendly owners and clean rooms. Will definitely stay here again when in the area.
- WJ (8/5): - Fine experience. Nothing special but definitely would stay there again.
- John (8/5): - Rooms just as advertised. Clean with nice hardwood floors. Nice swings on large porch.
- Verified traveler (8/5): - Nice hotel, very friendly staff in a good location along the beautiful route 23.
- Poolster (10/5): - This place is nice! It looks like everything is brand new. It is spartan, no coffee maker, no refrigerator, very small soap pods, and a one small tube of shampoo. Everything was nice, the breakfast was very spartan too. We skipped it and went to the H & R restaurant a block away which was nice too. Overall, we enjoyed our stay, very convenient to the Huron Breeze Golf course, only 5 miles away and a casino 22 minutes away.
- Mimi (8/5): Sparkling Clean and Quiet - The hotel is very well maintained and exceptionally clean. Our stay was quiet, though, as other reviewers have mentioned, noise from other guests can be heard through the walls (walking, coughing, etc.). Since everyone we could hear was relatively quiet, however, it wasn't an issue for us and, because the hotel apparently has a lot of guests who are in the area to fish (breakfast starts at 5 a.m. to accommodate them [and lasts until checkout time at 11 -- one of the longest and most reasonable hotel breakfast schedules I've encountered]), guests hunker down for the night fairly early. Would not hesitate to stay again.
- Verified traveler (8/5): Nice hotel in the middle of town - We stayed for one night and were happy with the hotel. It was very clean and the room was a decent size. The only down side was the paper thin walls. The kids next door sounded like they were going to come through the wall and my husband's snoring was heard in their room. Fortunately, it was family so there was no trouble! We would stay here again should we be in the area.
- Diane (10/5): Nice hotel in our favorite "hidden" town - We were with a group of friends for a mid winter getaway. The hotel was hosting a dueling piano nite for the area residents. We had more fun than I can write about in a review. The town of Au Gres is a hidden treasure . If you are looking for a place were there are no strangers, than this the only place to stay. The hotel is extremely well maintained, very clean and friendly. I have and will continue to praise this establishment.
