- Verified traveler (8/5): Charming Scottish Inn - Staying here felt like being on an episode of Outlander - right out of Scottish highlands. Charming bed and breakfast vibe but with full working restaurant and bar. Close to colleges in the area (Colgate, Hamilton, Cazenovia, hour away from Syracuse). Dinner at the restaurant was good. Enjoyed outside patio and took a walk to Cazenovia Lake after dinner.
- James (6/5): - Rooms are very outdated, stains on the ceilings, rust on the sprinkler systems that were in the room. If you clean a room put toilet paper in there. No backsplash were there was one in the bathroom. Bed was terrible. Restaurant was good.

- Thomas (8/5): A Nice But Somewhat Dated Hotel - For our 3-day stay the room was comfortable, but a but dated. An in-room air conditioner cooled the room suitably. We had made (and confirmed when we checked in) diner reservations at the in-house restaurant during our stay, but when we appeared at our appointed time, they did not have our reservation and did not seem concerned about their error. It then took them 25 minutes to find us a table in the otherwise vacant adjoining dining room. Otherwise, the dinner we had was excellent and the waitress was wonderful and engaging. Despite these hiccups, I would stay there again as it was convenient for our travel plans. The continental breakfast was a nice addition, but it was the vey same each day.

Live music every night and the food at the restaurant was great. The bed was also really comfortable (memory foam mattress). I would definitely stay again!

The downstairs the bar was a hidden gem. We enjoyed staying here very much and we'll stay here again in the future . We took a walk across the street to a beautiful lake and walked around the park
- Kathy (10/5): Beautiful location with lake view - Brae Loch is a gorgeous little inn located in the beautiful village of Cazenovia. From the single-malt Scotch offered at check-in to the fireplace in the cozy lobby, the comfy 4-poster bed, the Jacuzzi, and the delicious continental breakfast, everything about this place signals attention to detail and guest's comfort. Highly, highly recommend a visit!
- Don (6/5): - The Inn was very attractive and had tons of ambiance - a Scottish country inn motif. Gorgeous common areas with a welcoming fireplace and comfy furnishings. The offer of a Scotch or sherry on arrival was a nice touch. Our only complaint was the service in the dining room at dinner. We spent 20 minutes after ordering our appetizers waiting for them to arrive and then there was another half hour wait for our main courses. We spent an hour and forty-five minutes in the dining room to eat two courses. The waitress seemed rushed off her feet. She was alone and serving at least ten or fifteen tables. When we asked for an explanation, she informed us that only one chef showed up for work that evening. I told her how disappointed we were and asked if there was anything that could be done to compensate us for our bad experience. She kindly comped the two glasses of wine that we ordered when we were first greeted. I assured the waitress that we were in no way dissatisfied with her performance and that our complaint was directed at management. The food was very good and the only fault we had with the Inn was the poor service at dinner. Also, although the room we had was huge and beautifully decorated and even had a working fireplace, the bathroom was a bit shabby and dated. - Christopher (10/5): Fabulous Inn! - My wife and I stayed at the Brae Loch Inn during our IVF treatments, and it is the most clean, friendly, and comfortable inn we could have asked for! The staff is extremely friendly and accommodating. Even with the pandemic, they didn't miss a beat as far as cleanliness and service goes! The rooms are cozy and unique, a definite must-stay for anyone near Cazenovia/Syracuse!

- Michael (8/5): Anniversary night away - My wife and I needed a night away for our Anniversary. We love the Caz area and the local spots to get a drink. I have never dined or stayed at the Brae Loch before but had heard good things. The architecture and décor were fantastic. We enjoyed drinks and conversation with Hank at the bar and ended up having our dinner there too. The meal was outstanding and we would go back there for sure. Thanks to Hank and the other staff for making it a memorable anniversary.

We were so looking forward to staying in Cazenovia, but this ruined our stay, and the photos on this site do not show what the real rooms are like.
- Karen (10/5): Looks spooky, but is spectacular - Don’t let the dark & sorta spooky exterior deter you! The people are soooo warm, friendly & accommodating. St Andrews room was LARGE compared to hotel chains, which was a sensational way to travel w/ 2 kids & dog. Beds had thick foam mattresses which my back greatly appreciated. My hotel-loving kids were wary of the place, which is more like a b&b. But even they came away with a new appreciation for staying in such a unique place.

- Euan (10/5): Scottish welcome in the heart of New York State. - This was the second time we’ve been and glad we did. Staff are great, food is great and Cazenovia is a nice wee town. We like it’s old school charm and having a blether with the owner Jimmy. It’s nice to see a token of Scotland in the middle of New York State.

I thought it could of been a little warmer, but I know it’s an old house that has many broken up rooms. I loved our room with the fireplace. I would definitely go back again.

Had to find someone to help get my heavy suitcase upstairs......but it was no problem....was assisted right away and with a welcome smile. The room was clean and i let them know two other people would be joining me later that day and they sent up fresh towels and soaps immediately! The service at the front desk was excellent and i came in late (after 9) and there was an adorable envelope waiting for me labeled with my name and “late arrival”. Their breakfast is very good and the restaurant downstairs serves more than just Scottish cuisine. I would highly recommend to anyone who need to stay in Caz For any reason! I was there for a horse show at the college!

Horrible/old/lumpy mattresses. Threadbare linens, gross spreads. Cords for lights, clock, etc all haphazard. Halls/rugs smelled musty. Please spend some money on upgrades (mattresses, linens, pillows, etc) or people will continue to be disappointed,. We will not be returning.

Carpeting needs to be cleaned or replaced, stairway handrails need cleaning as they are sticky. The ceiling over the main staircase has a leak and debris from the ceiling was not vacuumed for the two days we stayed.
- Corey (10/5): Hotel from a bygone era! Cute, Lovely, and Sweet. - Was there for business! A wonderful hotel from a bygone era. Good good, location off the lake and pristine beauty. A good destination location for a wedding, holiday party, and nice weekend away.
- Heather (8/5): - Very quaint old house converted to a very interesting Inn and restaurant. The antiquity made it enticing. However, the room was not updated. The TV did not work, wifi did not work, the bed (although a huge 4-poster king) was not comfortable. The AC was a wall unit that I found to be very loud. However, the staff was very helpful and pleasant. I did not have a chance to try to restaurant. The location was excellent! The town of Cazenovia is very interesting, and close (but not too close) to Syracuse. Overall I would recommend this location/Inn.

- Steve (8/5): Pretentious? Maybe... - We had our 11-year-old grandson with us ... not the best place for him. Whether or not that was the reason, we hardly felt welcomed. However, we only needed a place to pass the night, so we might not have given it a fair opportunity.
