Guest Reviews
- Robert (1/5): It’s a dump - Nothing Everything
- Gabriel (2/5): - I have been through hell the past few days. I left early . I live in town but had no a c. All i wanted was a minimal place to chill. Credit to expedia for doing something they rarely do...refunding me themselves after calling the staff who are truly nasty people. Expedia apparently agreed and is currently looking into their future on expedia. This place should be shut down.
Roaches druggies noise in the ghetto and the entire staff openly does drugs while working.
Id sooner hide in my car. I slept outside in a chair i found the nights i was there. Saw other rooms
You can only polish a turd so much. Hundreds of cockroaches. No exaggeration. No refunds or empathy from them. They are sociopaths though meaning they easily fake emotions.
Really. For your safety stay away.
- Cosentino (1/5): - Espero como el.anterior caso , el dueño no me cobre la habitacion y me devuelva lo pagado por error de overbooking ; ya que fui hasta su instalaciónes y no tenian cama para mi .
- Andres (1/5): Bad -
- Karon (1/5): If you go to this place, don’t take anything valuable. - I just like the area Someone stole my PlayStation 4 I recommend to not go to this place. They took it from my locker that was locked. I didn’t pay attention to the lock that they gave me that was never in a package before opening. I reported the problem to the authorities. I also told the owner they did nothing about it. Theyre are roaches there.
- Charisse (8/5): good for the price - staff was very helpful with my stay. the room could have been cleaner. The bed was not comfortable very lumpy. The curtains did not close and the light shined in all night long
- Harris (1/5): Trash definitely don’t stay there. - Nothing! Roaches and people just doing drugs. Dirty, they gave my bed away to some random person. Roaches hanging out like they rented a bed. You got crackheads doing drugs with spoons. And the manager had an attitude when I called.
- Sage (1/5): Bad -
- Brian (1/5): A place to stay a few hours without even needing the bathroom - - The people administrating the place is very gentle. - Bathroom had a cockroach nest. I killed at least 10, but when I turn on the shower, they didn't stop coming out.
- Bathtub ground was broken, I guess down there was also a nest of cockroaches.
- There was a small towel with pup (which I guess someone used to clean their ass), but even when I was shown the room it was completely ignored.
- I was told to leave clean after myself, but the place was pretty dirty, at least some days without cleaning the floor.
I stayed here because it was the cheapest I found available that night, but it wasn't that cheap. It cost me 50 USD, and for the same price I was able to get a much nicer hostel in NYC, so I think this is completely overpriced. Its real cost should be between 5 and 15 USD, in which case it would have been totally understandable not having the money to fix a bathtub or killing an insect plague, but it wasn't even the case.
- (Not really a con) People were actually living in the bunk room.
- Israel (1/5): Worse in the world - Nothing it’s like to be on a shelter and it’s awful place, so dirty and smells bad
- Richard (1/5): Run far far away from this place. I couldn’t even sleep there. - Nothing The fact they wanted me to share a room with a stranger. There was a 2 in gap between the door and the floor. I had to ask for a trash can and toilet paper. No outlet covers this place was a total dump.
- Gregory (4/5): Disappointing -
- Jonathan (8/5): - I had a good stay. I want to visit again and stay at pensione.
- Orawo (1/5): Bad - Lisa, the receptionist does a great job Disorganized Dormitory. Risk of COVID
- Hayden (3/5): I just hate invasive roaches. When it’s light you see none! But walk into the kitchen and turn on your flashlight you wo - Location Roach problem, very invasive and throughout entire facility on migration. Kill em once you gotta come back S the eggs will hatch, which the roach sprays cannot kill.
- Simon (1/5): One of the worst experiences I’ve had. I paid for service I didn’t even receive. 0 stars - I didn’t like anything. This location just takes your money and doesn’t give you anything. They tried asking me to send them payment through Venmo and I didn’t want to do it so they wouldn’t give me a refund on anything I paid for. I didn’t like that they asked me to pay through Venmo and that they wouldn’t refund me my payment. they are just another quick money grab.
- sundarraj (2/5): - Poor customer service, unwilling to change from upper berth to lower berth, even after explaining about my attempt to climp up and realized the unsafe conditions as the bed is not provided with proper ladder. Also they asked huge charges to provide a separate room....
- Hayes (1/5): Bad -
- Ridley (1/5): Bad -
- Prince (7/5): Could be better. - Parking is safe.
- Brister (10/5): Affordable and cool people! - The staff there is awesome! The fat guy in my room that refused to talk to me because he was too "cool"???
- Verified traveler (2/5): Unsanitary conditions - We did not stay. We checked in and paid $121.81. The person told us there would be no hot water until he fixed the water heater, we went to the room and the bed was unmade, trash in the room, and stuff on the dresser. It was dirty. The place did not feel safe. We asked for a refund and we’re told no - there was no other room offered nor a discount - we left and didn’t stay
- Rudy Tyrell (4/5): Horrible - Crappie someone stole out my bag second day
- Glenn (2/5): The worst motel in Portland - This place is a dump. The staff are terrible to you. This surly shirtless man who was the owner was yelling at another customer at the top of his lungs. He called us all bums. The conditions were horrible. The walls were covered in mold and the drywall was cracking. There is trash all over the room. Dirty unkempt rooms totally unsanitary this place needs to be condemned. The beds were unmade they give you dirty sheets and a ratty blanket when you ask for linens. I was placed in a dorm with 4 other guys. One of them was a white supremacist with a swastika tattoo who was talking about how much he hates Jews all night. There are drug addicts and people with severe mental issues always roaming around the parking lot. Absolute worst experience I've ever had in a hotel. 57 dollars is far too much to pay. You should only pay 30 if that. Terrible place. AVOID AT ALL COSTS
- Karli (2/5): Filthy, and not safe. - DO NOT STAY HERE. I almost feel bad leaving a review like this, but I don't want anyone else to be put in the situation we were in! The woman up front was nice enough to us, but we had to pay up front, and sign some papers work that said no refunds, after seeing our room I understood why. This place doubles as something like a half way house for recovering addicts. Having these two things together is a terrible idea! Not to mention the room was a wreck, the sheets and blankets were soiled (literally blood stains on the pillow case) there were three of us, so she brought a "futon" into the room, which was something like a padded bench that was disgusting, covered in cigarette burns, and useless to even try to sleep on as there was an uncomfortable bar that went down the middle, and either side of it sunk almost to the floor when you tried to lay on it. The room also wasn't set up even though I had specified online, and later over the phone what time we'd be in, and that we needed an extra bed. We tried to all share the one queen bed that night, and did not get much sleep as around 6 am a man was walking around the courtyard screaming on and off incoherently for about an hour, no one stopped him. We left without checking out shortly after, even though we had paid for another night. We were charged $230 to huddle in a disgusting room for a few hours, worry about bed bugs, and listen to someone screaming outside our door at 6 am. This is really unacceptable. DON'T STAY HERE.
- Verified traveler (4/5): - This place is not suitable for children. We called ahead on our way down after running late, and they informed us that we should cancel our reservation and stay elsewhere due to danger to children at this location. To their credit, they did promptly and without hassle reverse the expedia charges. I cannot recommend anyone travelling with children to book here.
- Verified traveler (4/5): - This is a great place for bang to bucks.
But be aware to not leave any of your valuables during your whole stay.
I don't want to write one bad review but if you are not concern about your stuff being gone through, this shouldn't be a problem.
- Shane (2/5): - This place is a dive. Our room was not ready. Went to 3 rooms before we found one that was somewhat clean. The staff was nice and happy to accommodate. This is a live in hotel of most its guests. Not what we expected. Over all I will never go back
- Cindi (2/5): - This place is a scam, do not stay here. They were extremely rude and unprofessional over the phone.
- Verified traveler (2/5): - We arrived around 5pm the office was closed. We knocked and called no one answered. We were unable to check in ,since they charged my credit card when I made the reservation and it was non refundable I paid for a room that we couldn't check into.
- Verified traveler (2/5): Never stay here - Terrible and disgusting
- Malina (2/5): - THIS HOTEL IS DISGUSTING!!!!!!!
DO NOT STAY HERE!!!!
When we got there there weren't sheets on the bed no blankets no pillows no soap there was hair on the bathtub from the last occupant there was pee on the toilet seat that hadn't been cleaned up and then to top it off there were cockroaches everywhere once it got dark. WORST EXPERIENCE EVER!!! If I could give it a rating worse than terrible I would this place is a nightmare!! we left and had to find another hotel and im still trying to get my money back from this place! seriously disgusting and a nightmare
- Verified traveler (2/5): Dirty run down MOTEL - We showed up no one was there we couldn't check in,it was dirty Un kept when we tried to cancel with hotels.com they wouldn't refund the money back that they had charged me a week before the show. We were going to
- Jessica (2/5): It was disgusting!!! - We walked in room and it was disgusting!!! There was blood on ceiling lots of it. The floor was cement. The bathroom was disgusting too!! We didn’t even stay 5 min. It was way to bad!!! They wouldn’t even give me a refund:(
- Verified traveler (2/5): No bueno. - Couch was covered in dog hair, under the cushions was dog hair and coated in dust. I am allergic to dogs!
This property is not wheelchair friendly! I could not use the bathroom, because of the space between the wall & bed were about 1-2 ft apart.
Pillows on couch were dusty!
Also; there was a dirty bandaid on the bed, in the guest bedroom.
- Verified traveler (2/5): Please PLEASE PLEASEEE dont stay here - Lets start with the only positive, the guy who checked me in must have known just how crap this place is as when in the...room, he knocked and asked if all OK. I was not able to reply as on phone booking another hotel.
Mr roach and his family were living in the room. The curtains were at best useless and the towel, well tea towers are bigger. Just avoid at all cost. I will be writing to the Portland authorities about this place as I cant see how it is fit for human occupation, guess thats why Mr Roach lives these. That is Cockroach.
PS a rating of one is far to high a negative would be more appropriate.
- Madeleine (2/5): Terrible - It was terrible. There were no towels, toilet paper or trash can. When asked for I was assured I’d get some within a few minutes. After a 6 hour wait I left. I couldn’t stand the 8 kinds of bugs crawling on my feet as well. I left before midnight but was not issued a refund. DO NOT STAY HERE. I had to go find a new hotel for the night. Shocked, sad and disappointed that Hotels.com has this one on their site at all. I am now questioning using Hotels.com in the future. Very bad for business as I will be spreading this as far as possible.
- Lea (2/5): - The property was filthy people chopping stolen bikes. The actual room was even worse. There was a mattress on the floor with two bare bunk beds. The room had an awful smell of cigarettes and mold. there were dead roaches in the bathroom. The place looked NOTHING like the photos advertised online. When I returned my key, the folks couldn’t care less. Awful experience and 100% scam for money.
- Verified traveler (2/5): Absolutely horrible - Absolutely horrible
this hotel had air-conditioner fluid flowing all over the floor, plastic bags over the fire alarms and the door to the room did not lock!!
Staff were incredibly rude!
Did not stay
- David (2/5): - Worst hotel I ever saw. Staff was rude and facility was filthy
- Jordan (4/5): - You get what you pay for, but they should at least provide towels!
- Verified traveler (2/5): - Terrible experience. The hotel is not at all what was advertised and is far too expensive for what you get.
Dirty (prison cell) type rooms, moldy showers, etc. Upon arrival is was quick to see this is not a safe place to let my family stay so we left.
The staff was less than helpful and claimed they were the new owner until I told them we were leaving and then he all of a sudden became a middle man. Hope to get $ back as this was an awful experience.
One last thing, only 1 pillow on the bed and no sheets.
- Christopher (2/5): Spend the extra $20 and stay *ANYWHERE* else. - The guy working there was really nice. He did warn me before I got to the room that he might have forgotten the little soaps and shampoos in the room, but not to worry he'd get them for me if he had. He indeed forgot those things, and got them for me.
The room also didn't have toilet paper, or towels. I got towels and paper. the towels were all coming apart on the edges. The thing is, though, the place was 'clean' in the sense that it wasn't dirty, but everything about the room felt like a squatters dungeon. The bed was on a box spring on the floor. The boxspring had no cover and had clear holes where mice had eaten into the spring and made a home. The mattress was fine, it felt like springs, but whatever. The sheets were all mismatched and the sort of thing you might expect when you go stay at your friends place and you need to crash on their sofa. Not glamorous.
The floors are cement, painted gloss black. The room smelt of someone smoking and urinating at the same time, and the smoke detector had no battery, so I suspect someone who was previously in there has indeed been smoking and urinating.
Overall, this was one of the worst hotel experiences I have ever had, and I would strongly recommend you spend the extra $20 and stay somewhere reputable.
Its only redeeming features were the guy there was nice, and location wise it was near the restaurant Ox and also Pine State Biscuits. Otherwise this is the definition of terrible.
- Verified traveler (2/5): Nastiest place ever - Filthy! Disgusting nastiness everywhere. I simply fled in horror and disgust. I love the hostel experience, but this has meth-house written all over it!
- Relique (2/5): There are better Hostels - You would think a hipster town like Portland would have awesome hostels at every price range. This however, was not an awesome place. It felt sketchy.
- James (2/5): Pack lite and have nothing of value - I was in the male dormitory for maybe 30 minutes. It's a room with 3 bunk beds, which wasn't mentioned any where in the website. There is no place to secure your belongings. I would expect to have some sort of full locker or foot locker to put your belongings. There was no bedding in the room. I was only given towels.
- Verified traveler (4/5): Unlivable - The place was shabby, dirty, and the staff was nuts. Last time I would stay there. Also, we had flies in the room all the time.
- Verified traveler (4/5): You get what you pay for - It was cheap, conveniently located and had free off-street parking. The bare minimum was provided e.g. no shampoo, no hangers, no dresser, no carpet. The room was clean and the bed comfortable. At least some of the other people staying there fought every night, the last night there was a physical fight. It was not what I expected but not so bad that I left.
- InsectScientist (2/5): BED BUGS. DO NOT GO HERE. - Do not go to this hotel unless you want to bring bed bugs home with you.
The no refund payment scheme is a scam.
- Doug (2/5): Scary place - The worst place I have ever tried to stay at!! I left at 1:30 am and didn't com back the next night.
Expedia has a responsibility to keep its customers safe.
The demeanor of this place was like that of a half way house for criminals.
- Verified traveler (2/5): Pretty Rough... - A pretty divey place, and I like divey places. Drug deals. Yelling. Had my wallet stolen. Tough to get clean sheets and towels. The place is rough. The owners are trying their best, but it's not a great situation.
- rell (2/5): Terrible all around dirty and unsuitable - This is a run down hostel that is ran by an drug addict who overchargedmy card by $30 then charged me $25 for dirty towels with stains I didn't use. And last they have roaches
- Curtis (6/5): Eye sore - It was not very good. A total eye sore.
- Verified traveler (4/5): - Hotel staff were kind of okay, but facilities were highly disappointing. There were many problems including improper flooring, not enough toiletries, no wardrobe, etc. Floor tiles in bathroom were slippery, so I fell down and hurt myself.
- R (4/5): Kind of like a prison cell with a bigger bed. - Oh my goodness. Where do I even begin.
Well, let's start with the positive. This hotel is within easy walking distance of the Oregon Convention Center, and it was affordable. Um. What else. There was a mini-fridge. And the TV worked. And there was (unexpectedly) Wi-Fi! ...Yeah, that's about it.
On the other end of the spectrum...about half of the hotel was recently badly damaged by a room fire, so all of the "nice" rooms are off limits. The room in which we stayed was a white-painted cinder block square with an uncomfortable queen bed, a concrete floor covered in cracked linoleum, a window curtained with torn plastic, a questionably clean microwave, and bathroom with a very suspicious-looking sink that did not drain and a hole in the wall stuffed with plastic with weird cats with muscled chests painted on it. In addition to these exciting accommodations, about ten minutes after our arrival, someone a few rooms down began screaming and continued to scream for about a quarter of an hour. Apparently her cat died? Or something? The place was mostly quiet once night fell, but the uncomfortable mattress full of pokey springs, the thin pillows, and the lack of a fitted sheet made sleeping difficult.
I would NOT have stayed here if my tall and imposing-looking boyfriend had not been with me, or if I thought we could have found another reasonably-priced accommodation close to the convention center at the last minute. So we stuck it out. We survived.
- Verified traveler (2/5): - Your organization need to send a person Down to hotels and check yourself rate them
I did not stay in the hotel
Hotel looks terrible and seems that people are staying there are locals
- Rachel (2/5): STAY AWAY - We probably like most were looking for an inexpensive place to stay while in the Portland area. What we didn't expect were how bad the conditions of this said "hotel" were. Upon first driving up you see random people standing around, bed sheets in the window, and just dirty conditions all around. Thankfully the 24 hour open office was closed when we were going to check in around 3pm but after just a few minutes in the parking lot taking in the conditions of this "hotel" we decided to leave because number one... we did not feel safe. Even as we pulled out of the parking area and stopped on a nearby street to find somewhere else to stay, one of these questionable tenants followed my car and was just watching us which honestly freaked me out. This is at best a crack house and I strongly reccomend that you do not stay here and I think that Expedia needs to listen to their reviewers and take this place off of their website so you don't waste your money like I did!
- Kristian (2/5): Cockroaches - I woke up in the middle of the night to cockroaches on the bed and running around in the bathroom. I paid $85 for a night with cockroaches. I told the Manager who apologized and mentioned that their was a maintenance person who used to live below and they had to get rid of him because of his filth. I would not recommend this place to anyone.
- Keith (2/5): You pay for what you get - Cockroaches & ants in the bathroom, paper thin walls with a noisy neighbor, and no Ice dispenser/shampoo&conditioner made me think I was back in the 70's in Europe staying at a youth hostel.
- Alison (2/5): Unsanitary at best, Unsafe at worst - This place is absolutely not worth the initial $85 per night, nor the extra $25 in hidden fees you have to pay at check in.
You are literally paying $110 to sleep on a twenty year old spring mattress in a filthy garage/prison cell. Do not waste your money.
- Queen Shreem (2/5): Pay More to Get More! - Room was dirty. Room had roaches. Linen looked old and dirty. Bathroom was filthy. No ac and it was very hot. No window screens to help circulate air. Very old model television. Other paying customers (permanent tenants) gave very criminalistic and drug addict vibes. Intrusive and invading staff. I will ensure to save more to stay in more upscale establishment.
- Verified traveler (2/5): Portland Pensione - We booked a 4 person room and arrived to find that the room given to us only accommodated 2 people, as they thought the 4 person booking was a 'mistake'. We were then charged extra for them to squeeze 2 uncomfortable single beds into our room. The quilt on one of these beds had a rip on one side and a bloodstain on the other.
That night we found a cockroach.
We stayed for 2 nights.
- Verified traveler (2/5): - The mattresses are old & springy. The bathroom had no shower supplies so I had to drive to a Walgreens. The wifi router is located in their office so you have no internet if your room is far enough from the office.
I thought I was getting a cheap deal when I booked, but now I see that I was overpaying.
Never coming back.
- Verified traveler (2/5): Cockroach infestation forced us to leave - Cockroach infestation forced us to leave before the first hour with no refund, so we paid too much to find out this place was a roach motel. This place wasn't overly clean or well kept.
- Verified traveler (2/5): You could not pay me to stay here again - No trash can, no toilet paper, dirty floors, SUPER uncomfortable bed, hair on my "clean" towel, paper thin walls and a neighbor ferociously puking on the other side of the wall from 2am to 4 am. Will never ever go back.
- Verified traveler (2/5): No hot water and very dreary. - This is one of the creepiest places I've stayed at. I was in town for a conference at the convention center and wanted a place that allowed me to walk over. The walk was terrific and through a nice neighborhood. It is quite apparent that the owner wants to make as much money as possible with as little investment as legally possible. Some of the residents staying there scared me. Stark white walls, no hot water in the bathroom. Electrical outlets that did not work. Bad lighting. Old and cheap everything.
- Kam Wah (2/5): Horrible Experience - Its horrible. The bedsheet wasn't change and the mattress felt me felt itchy throughout the night. I had to wear jacket and cover pillows with towel as the bed seems to have bed bugs. The location was near city and within walking distance to light rail station. Personally, I felt the neighborhood is not safe for single ladies. It is not cheap per night ($101/night). If you could find better alternatives, do book that than this one.
- jesus (2/5): Not a hotel, it's a hostel - This place calls itself a hotel but it's setup like a badly run hostel. An overpriced one at that.
