Guest Reviews
Vervoer (scooter) noodzakelijk.
- Elise (10/5): A wonderful experience - Amazing hotel for nature lovers, with all the comfort you need.
The rooms are as in the pictures with big windows and a terrace with the view on the rice fields.
The food (breakfast and dinner) is simple and delicious.
We all loved the motorbike ride organized by the hotel, it will remain one of our best memory.
A wonderful place and a wonderful experience.
- oliver (10/5): - This is a great place to stay if you want to escape the overdevelopment of Bali. The villas are traditional houses transplanted from Java, and therefore very different from Balinese houses, but very attractive, and the surrounding countryside is totally Balinese and beautiful, with a mixture of paddy-fields and woodland, and very few tourists. The villas are well fitted out and air-conditioned, and the staff are charming without the obsequiousness one finds in many more upmarket resorts.
- Claudio (10/5): What a great place - I liked everything about this place.
Perfect location, very comfortable accommodation, friendly and helpful staff and fantastic freshly cooked food.
Bali Lush had everything we wanted to see and experience from Bali. Beautiful paddy fields, palm tree forest, fresh fruit, village life.
- Willem (10/5): - Werkelijk prachtige locatie.

- Sharleen (8/5): A wonderful place to visit on your own xx - This was my second visit to Bali Lush. I loved my first stay so wanted to come back. The staff make this place - they welcome you back like a long lost friend. I love how Bali Lush reminds me of the eighties when I visited Bali a couple of times. Nothing, I even enjoy all the steps - means I can have as much peanut sauce as I want. Their sauce is the best.
- Kathleen (10/5): A peaceful and unique stay. - I loved this property. Thanks David and Camron and your lovely staff. We had the butterfly room. It was spacious, comfortable, clean and unique. Loved the Decor. It was also well equipped with books, DVDs, water, tea/ coffee making facilities etc. the communal dining area was lovely too with games etc. The surrounding area is peaceful with stunning scenery. Camron has put together a range of wonderful tours and activities so you will never be bored. I liked everything but note: be sure you are comfortable with lots of steps to your room. Fortunately they are not the normal steep Balinese steps.
- Celia (10/5): Wake up in Heaven - Absolutely beautiful, our house was a beautiful restored Javanese wooden joglo, loved all the small touches, high quality fit out. Lovely pool. Stairs with no railing was a little scary for my disabled friend. Be aware Bali Lush is hilly
- Charles (10/5): The real Bali of years gone by which is perfect!! - Great getaway from busier locations. Calm, peaceful, and full of nature. We actually stayed four nights which gives adequate time to hike, take a scooter tour, hike, relax, and hike. Did I mention hike? Many well paved paths and almost no scooters. The scenery is spectacular, especially the rice terraces and raging streams. We have been to Ubud over the years and would say make a beeline away from Ubud and a direct line to Bali Lush. Our Cabin (Duck) is the catch of the litter and super comfortable. The staff and owners could not have been more gracious and helpful. It is not what we did not like, but what some may not appreciate or like. You need to find your own slice of peace here and find what appeals to you. For example, we brought several things for the local school students and teachers which gave US great joy. Conversely, if your focus is what is "in it for me" then five star resorts might be more to your liking. For us, this was perfect.
- Andre (10/5): Relaxing, peaceful! - we had a very relaxing stay here, really beautiful place nestled between the rice paddies. We felt there could have been more comfortable chairs to relax on the room veranda but this is a tiny thing as everything else was amazing.
- Lesley (10/5): Intruiging and surprisingly beautiful - What a beautiful place Bali Lush is. You feel trapped in the jungle and rice terraces. In the meanwhile you get super service, advice and a most intriuging conversation with David, the owner. A must visit accomodation. If you want to slow down, go here and be positively surprised what Bali Lush and its surroundings have to give. Nothing really..... one of our best places we visited.
- Rohz (10/5): Exceptional - We stumbled upon this location as we made a last-minute change in our holiday schedule and we got ve-ry lucky!
The staff was very caring and both the owners David and Cameron were very hospitable, to the point we almost felt guilty for not staying longer (in a good way!).
The resort is perfect for those looking to distance themselves from their busy life and return to the present, with the beautiful lush tropical garden surrounding the accommodation.
Although it's far away from other towns, there is nothing you miss out on as they have everything at the resort and do organized tours as well. None!
- Amadragus (10/5): Amazing stai in Bali - Amazing views, amazing house, amazing staff, amazing food, what can I say more. The pictures don't do them justice. Go and see for yourself. N/A
- Katrin (10/5): A slice of paradise not to be missed - Beautiful bungalows, great staff, yummy food, amazing views and vibe.
Make sure you book the motorcycle tour to the waterfall and ricefields.
We enjoyed our chats with the very passionate and lovely owner a lot.
Thanks for a great stay. Hoping to be back one day, next time for more than one night. Nothing.
- Adriana (10/5): Exceptional -

- Bosman (8/5): wonderful - I stayed for four days at Bali Lush with a friend. Seven years ago, I had already visited it with my parents. When I knew I was going to Bali again, I immediately decided to book at Bali Lush, because it is situated in the middle of the rice fields and is not a touristy place. It is a wonderful spot to relax and unwind. I have nothing to complain about. Everything is perfectly arranged and very hospitable. The local people are also very hospitable. it is a beautiful place.
- Jimena (10/5): The most peaceful place in Bali. - The people who work there, the owners. The peacefuls views. The food and the location. Nothing.
- Brittney (7/5): Secluded and peaceful...but not. - Very comfortable beds, beautiful view.
Very good breakfast-pancakes were great.
Friendly staff. The Family Room, where we stayed, was at the bottom of about 100 stairs. It wasn't a huge issue for us but if someone had a bad knee or another health issue, this would be problematic.
Our room was adjacent to another Family Room with a shared front porch and entryway to the rooms, which we didn't really like as it affected privacy. If you want to sit on the porch with a coffee you need to be prepared to sit with your neighbour. For one night it was fine.
- Laurent (10/5): Perfect view and great people. - The property is in the middle of a mix of jungle and rice fields, just plain wonderful nature.
We had the chance to meet the owners and had long discussions with them, extremely kind and welcoming.
- Raisa (10/5): Exceptional -
- Bonita (9/5): Lovely, quiet rural location offering lots of activities as well as the chance to rest. - Beautiful, quiet location. Well maintained facilities. Great view over the rice fields. Yummy breakfast. Good options for additional activities.
- Inge (10/5): Quiet surroundings in the middle of nature with lovely staff and great food. - Lovely setting in the middle of rice fields and surrounded by beautiful garden full of fruit trees, scubs, native trees etc.
Decent size pool with great views.
Food was really nice and wide selection.
Staff very friendly. Welcomed with a cool drink. Many interesting conversations with our host!
Well providing unlimited fresh clean drinking water.
We were dropped off near waterfall and had lovely swim and great walk back through mountain and village. Lovely locale place where we stopped for an icecream and drinks looking out on valley. Unfortunately no fresh coconuts during our stay...
- Jo (10/5): Exceptional - Amazing view and traditional house, a real Balinese experience!
- Fleur (9/5): Superb - The secluded location is ideal. Stunning view over rice field terraces and a beautiful garden surrounding the place. Rooms are spacious, clean, nicely decorated. Food is very good. Staff is friendly.
- Sofie (10/5): Fantastic, friendly, fun, formidable -
- Terry (10/5): Remote, unique Bali Lush - Peaceful, tranquil a place to really appreciate Mother Nature
David and Camron go out of their way to provide adventures, comfort and delicious foods N/a
- Franck (10/5): Exceptional - Almost everything:
- Exceptional environment within wonders of nature.
- very good food with local and fresh ingredients
- kindness and discretion of the staff and warm welcoming always available for an interesting talk to the owner.
From 10 years to the parents we all spent a delightful stay at Balilush. Nothing to report
- Kira (9/5): Superb -
- Alexandra (8/5): Very good - All around gorgeous. Highly recommended.
- Richard (10/5): I wish I could stay for……..well forever really. - An absolutely blissful 3 days in a place that truly represents the real Bali. Absolutely stunning. We liked everything
- Matthieu&veronique (10/5): Exceptional - The authentic Bali ! A wonderful place very calm and peaceful. The view is very nice. A warm welcome from the host. And a delicious homemade cooking.
We did also a nice motobike tour in the secret valley. Nothing
- Juste (10/5): Exceptional - This was the best and most amazing place, which we have visited in Bali. The rice fields and location were the best! It is heaven! The Bali Lush it self was so great place, with charning bungalows, lovely owners and great restaursnt food. Nothing
- Fahad (10/5): Exceptional - A beautiful place worth returning to many times. I liked the place, the charming green view, the good treatment of the owner, the simplicity of his procedures and his interest in the guests of the place and knowing what they need. He also did a great tour of the area around the beautiful by motorbike
- Kemal (10/5): Immersed in nature with beautiful scenery - Extremely beautiful landscape, no crowds and good food with vegetarian options. Lovely and very well caring hosts, with whom you can have very nice chats. The facilities are designed well to enhance the immersion in nature. Unlike the artificial feel of white painted walls and ceramic, you have the wood and stone; plus open bathroom to feel the forest. I would definitely come again whenever I can visit Bali. Nothing
- Alvaro (10/5): Exceptional -
- Oriana (10/5): Exceptional - Extremely beautiful surroundings. Amazing place to relax or work online. The food was excellent, high quality ingredients and so tasty. Lots of vegetarian options. The breakfast was very filling. The staff were friendly and helpful. The room was big, clean, and beautifully decorated. The surrounding village is so lovely and traditional. There is some hiking to do around the place, but you can easily enjoy yourself just relaxing on the property. Just something to note is that the dogs around here are all guard dogs and will chase after you appearing very scary, so I wouldn’t walk around the area alone especially if you’re afraid of dogs. But inside the property the dogs are friendly.
- Stephen (8/5): Very good - Food was lovely, place was clean and tidy, quiet area, lovely looking over the rice patties..
- R. (10/5): beautiful - accommodation, views, location, people none
- Julia (10/5): Amazing views! Lush green all around! - Bali Lush is set in one of the most beautiful surroundings I have ever seen. The area all around is authentic Balinese and there are very few tourists around. The staff is very nice and helpful with arranging whatever you need like a scooter, transport or bananas for your baby. the tours we booked through them, were very worthwhile. The room was spacious and absolutely beautiful. We even had a view of the rice fields from the shower. Everyday we got to choose food from a varied menu and it was always tasty. Nothing. The 2-3 hour ride from the Airport is worth the tranquility you willigend there :)
- Veronika (10/5): Loved it and can't wait to come back. - It is absolutely amazing - if you want a personal hideaway, I can't imagine a better place. Complete dreamland, loved the villa and semi-roofed shower: design, style, and ambience. Great care like a water cooler next to the room and a stock of umbrellas. I really want to get back. I loved the place. So no complaints really. To make it 10+ out of 10 would appreciate a bit more of a choice for breakfast, in-room fan maintenance (my fan made irregular clicking noises and woke me up few times, but I'm a light sleeper and also could have switched to A/C), better sink cleaning (hehe) and installing a fan on a terrace (then would book for long stay cause it would be an incredible place for working with a laptop).
- Lidia (10/5): Pefect getaway in rice paddies and jungle - I had an amazing time at Bali Lush. Very tranquil, beautiful location. Perfect when you need to disconnect and spend some time in the nature, enjoying the sounds and visuals around you.
Everything is done with great attention to detail: from furniture and decor in the houses, to quirky dishes and cups.Food was so so good, it's a big part of the experience. Don't miss out on lunch and dinner if you can.
Thank you for letting me walk around your lovely garden and sharing how you grow the produce and your approach to curating the menu.
There is so much to do and see in the area and I loved that you can find an extensive list of activities to do while staying at Bali Lush.
Can't wait to visit again and stay for longer than 2 nights. Thank you!
- Koen (8/5): Really pretty place, but a bit secluded (no possibility to rent scooter). - The property is really nice. Well maintained by the staff. Clean. Good views. Of course you go this place because it’s isolated. Far away from Bali tourism. Nevertheless, it would be nice to be able to rent a scooter in the neighborhood to explore a bit your self. In our opionion one is quite “imprisoned” here and can only leave with tours (on the back of a scooter or by car). Aforementioned also means that you have to eat on the premises every time.
- Екатерина (10/5): Exceptional - Everythig's perfect. The food is tasty, the view is stunning. The owners are very friendly. Helped us with the excursion and transfer
- Katherine (10/5): Exceptional - What an amazing place to stay! The property and its surroundings are really special -quite different from other places I stayed in Bali and you get to make the most of the beautiful scenery and nearby walks with very few other tourists. It's very relaxing and peaceful and Cameron and David were fabulous hosts with lots of interesting insights into the local area and culture. The other staff were also lovely and the food was very good. The pool and terraces for the rooms have stunning views across the rice fields. I hope I get to visit again sometime! The wifi was quite patchy but that wasn't massively surprising given the remote location
- Hebe (8/5): beautiful unique location with great hosts. - Beautiful property and wonderful staff and owners who were all always so happy to help and organise. Very rural so depends on what type of trip of trip you’re looking for.
- Christian (10/5): Exceptional -
- Janette (10/5): Exceptional - Delicious breakfast, with a beautiful view over the tropical gardens, and rice terraces across the valley. Our hosts, Cameron and David, did everything they could to ensure we had the best time. The menu options were sufficient to suit all tastes, with some outstanding meals, all prepared from scratch in the kitchen., including sour dough bread. Actives are also offered. Great value stay in every way.
- Wu (10/5): A journey to freedom and relax - Peace and freedom. The owner couple were very friendly and nice. They have three dogs and my sons had a very lovely time to play with them around the him, besides the small river and among the mulberry trees. The activities: scooter ride to the mountain, tour to the private beach, the rice field much more original and beautiful than Ubud. The meditation terrance is the best place to consume the whole afternoon. The fried rice and noodle were good and bread was made from scratch. almost no.
- Ilona (10/5): beautiful, tranquil, secluded and feel good place - One of the most beautiful, tranquil, secluded and feel good places I’ve stayed in Bali during a month of travelling. kudos to the owners of the place - Camron and David, they know what they are doing.
Thank you for your kindness, hospitality and long conversations! I’m happy I spent my last days in Bali at this place.
- Claire (10/5): Hidden Gem! - We loved everything about our stay from the scenic location in a small village to the welcoming hosts and tasty food. We especially enjoyed the bike tour around the local village, waterfalls and rice fields. My gluten free requirements (celiac) we’re accommodated exceptionally, with gluten free bread even being baked fresh on site! Will definitely be back! Only that we didn’t stay longer.
- Geoffroy (10/5): Exceptional - Super quiet location, and magnificient site with reconstructed traditionnal wooden houses in the middle of a hill facing rice terraces. Nothing
- Andrii (10/5): Exceptional -
