Guest Reviews
- Vasiliy (8/5): - Mostly very nice motel near the park. But there's no front desk at the building itself. You have to check in 3 miles down the road. Which is not convenient. Also bathroom faucet was terrible. Otherwise very spacious and clean room.
- THUPDEN (8/5): - The place is clean and quiet. But it’s far off from Yosemite park.
- Charles (10/5): - Cabin air worked fine. Kitchenette well stocked. No room service, but front desk provided extra coffee, etc as needed.
Quiet. Great location near Yosemite National Park. Great view.
- Mark (8/5): - Convenient, clean
- ben (4/5): - Didn't like anything
- Ross (6/5): Red Bud was a good choice for Yosemite vacation. - Location was excellent. No hand soap or hair conditioner. Beds were old and worn out but sheets and covers were clean. Counter service was excellent and maintenance, when directed was spot on.
- Linda (10/5): - The place was clean and quiet, even has a small kitchenette. You have use of pools at the Main resort and you're close to the Yosemite entrance
- Eren (10/5): - The room was very nice, the bed was comfortable and the room was clean. Love the set up by the river and the store. Really close to the park. I would stay here again.
- Verified traveler (4/5): - We had to leave in the middle of the night. Someone was banging on our door and yelling. On this night the lodge has only one other guest. We had no cell service and there was no landline to call anyone. We did not feel safe since the lock was an old fashioned chain lock.We drove to Oakhurst and rented a room. Would not recommend.
- Kevin (6/5): - If you are looking for a cheap, quiet place to sleep just out of Yosemite it's not bad. The room was very basic but also very clean. There are no ammenities at the location but you are allowed to use the facilities (pool, etc) at the resort 3 miles away. Also, that is where you check in because, again, there are no facilities other than the block of rooms.
- Nolan (8/5): - Decent stay outside entrance to the park! Double room was quiet with WiFi and TV. Refrigerator and microwave included as well. Not much else by the lodge but overall very pleased with the stay! Also one trailhead starting above the lodge which was a simple hiking option without heading into the park.
- shetal (4/5): - Had issues with ants in the bathroom and sheets did not smell the best.
- Barbara (6/5): - We did not have any hot water for both days we stayed there! We called the front desk about it after the first morning, and they said they would "pass the message on". On the 2nd morning, the power went out about 0730 during another cold shower. We again called the front office, but they took a "message" and said they would call us back. However, once the internet also went out, we had no way to call them again or answer any calls because there is no cell service there. The light in the kitchen was broken as well, and it was dark over in that area. The bed mattress was not very comfortable, so I ended up sleeping on the sofa. Once we checked out at the 2nd location (Cedar Lodge), they were not very sympathetic to the problems we had and did not offer any compensation for lack of hot water or power for the last 2 hours we were trying to get ready and pack up! They said that "PG&E must be having a power shut off that they did not tell them about". However, the Cedar Lodge HAD power, so it was clearly not important to them that the Red Bud Lodge was without power, and was getting pretty hot without ac.
- Sean (8/5): - Decent.
- pablo the gamer (10/5): - Quieter
- Verified traveler (8/5): - Hair found on the pillow and sheet, indicating they are not freshly changed since last customer. No complaints about other aspects.
- Duke (2/5): - First off, I want to say I never do reviews but I had to do this to protect others. There were ants everywhere. They were all over the shower. We had to wash the tub before we could take a shower. There were dead ants on the bottom of our feet. There were black spots on the ceiling. When we pulled out one of the wash clothes, it had a brown stain. In the other room that we had for the night, the AC sounded like there was a shoe in the dryer being knocked around the whole night. The coffee maker also did not work. When we told the staff they said the manager would call us. I have now waited three days and have received no response. Don’t stay here! I still can’t believe I paid over $200 per room for this place.
- Sanjay (8/5): - Good property near the Yosemite NP. It is literally 15 minutes by car to NP central entrance. It was clean and beautiful surrounding with mountains and Merced River passing through.
- Erlene (4/5): - This property is three miles west from the main property and has no services. Check in, pool, restaurant is 3 miles away at the main lodge area. Right on the highway by not too noisy. The air conditioner was finicky, thank goodness for the ceiling fan as it was 100 degrees out. Our room was clean, but furnishings were old. WiFi didn’t work, and no cell service in the canyon. I would choose the main Cedar Lodge location to stay at.
- Anthony (8/5): - Very good lodge for visiting the Yosemite National Park !
- Rinku (8/5): - The room took 4 hrs to cool as AC was off when we arrived.
- Chaochen (6/5): - You have to check-in and out at the Cedar lodge, which is another 5 minutes drive. No breakfast provided.
- Victoria (6/5): - The bed was horrible,
the shower pressure horrible, no water pressure, coffee pot was broken. Otherwise the property was okay
- Andre (6/5): - The building is obviously old and the room smelled musty. The room was clean and furnished like a standard basic hotel or motel. The office is a mile or more down the road at the hotel and there is no attendant at the lodge, which is only slightly inconvenient.
- Yunhua (6/5): - The AC is very noisy
- Verified traveler (6/5): - You have to check it out somewhere else about two miles away.
The price includes the daily housekeeping service, but there is no service.
The air conditioner is old, so it's noisy when it's working
Nobody can take care of the trash bins outside the door. Animals come and devour the trash, making a mess.
- Maria (8/5): - Very helpful and accommodating staff. Easy check in
- Robin (8/5): - Enjoyed our stay, recommend and will stay again in the future.
- Kirsten (8/5): - Very convenient to Yosemite, our family enjoyed our stay here.
- CHIHYU (8/5): - lobby is at the other hotel
That is a bit weird.
Need to email beforehead so you won't need to run twice
- Julie (10/5): - Maribel at the lobby was so helpful, she was able to get me checked in little bit earlier then 3. She gave me so much information and whereabouts to all amenities on the properties.
This is a cute lodge, across the street is a hidden beach with chairs and tables. Very relaxing and great for pictures.
- peggy (4/5): Old, dated, inadequate facility. A Motel 6. - 1. misrepresenting pictures: The Lodge has multiple pictures showing how the rooms look like, but the pictures are not tied to the different types of rooms. I thought our room, 2 queen beds, come with a large kitchen and large fridge. Upon arriving, I realized our room had 2 queen beds, yes, but the "kitchen" was a tiny thing and the fridge was a tiny one too. Nothing like the pictures shown on web. Perhaps I mistakenly believed the full size kitchen picture was what I was getting. It would have been very helpful had the specify that. 2. The toilet in our room had a very very weak flush. We need to flush 3 times for our number 1. Imagine our "other" flushing needs. 3. One of the queen bed's supporting base was off centered, so if 2 people sit on the foot of the bed, the head of the bed would tilt up!! We are skinny people, weighting no more than 150 lbs. each. 4. The heater in our room would keep going constantly, overheating our room even though we kept the temp at 68. It was very uncomfortable.
- Peter (6/5): - Room was nothing fancy, which was expected. But it was clean and enough room for three of us. But the faucet in the bathroom sink sprayed water all over the counter making it virtually unusable. Also, there was no lighting outside the door making it dark and difficult when arriving late. No servicing the room during the day. Check-in was two miles down the road, which also had a pricey but mediocre buffet breakfast. There isn’t much around there at a decent price, so I guess they don’t have to be very good to compete. Probably would look for a better place.
- Eric (8/5): - A little pricey, but the room was great with a kitchenette and stocked with dishes, utensils, coffee. Market for provisions about 12 miles up the road. For the price, slightly above average value.
- Partha (10/5): - Beautiful room (large), cool and comfortable (it was hot outside). Staff was receptive to our needs.
Couple of things to note: restaurant options are v limited (have to drive 30 mins).
office is 2 miles away
- Steve (8/5): - Out of the way. In the foothills before Yosemite. Nice and quiet and not to far from the main gate
- xiaochun (8/5): - Room is good size, cleanliness could be improved. Check-in/out location is 2.5 miles away from the property.
- Dawn (2/5): - No soap, no regular coffee, only decaf
- Verified traveler (2/5): Beware - No tv reception and were not told when checking in. Later when we complained, he offered $50 discount per night on accommodation. And he said he emailed Expedia. That was a lie. There was no discount
- SONIA (4/5): - There was no room service
Staff where not nice at all
Saw ants in the room
One morning we didn’t have water , had to wait an hour to get the water back .
For 305$ per night I was expecting more
I will never recommend this place
- Verified traveler (8/5): Great!....except for the faucet diffusers! - Very clean and comfortable. I withheld one star because... 1. Some of the dishes had dried on food from before. We washed them off ourselves but, yeah. 2. The faucets spray fine streams of high pressure water meaning that it sprays all over but not much water is actually coming out. So it's hard to wash your hands or dishes but the counter and your clothes end up with overspray by the time you are done. I read the reviews about this and, yep, it's annoying. It probably doesn't save water because it takes 3x longer to wash stuff or fill up a glass of water anyway! I wish I brought a small vice grip and a normal diffuser to use, but why would I carry that around with me???! Otherwise would stay there anytime. It was a great close bedroom to explore Yosemite
- Jennifer (10/5): - The staff at this property was wonderful and accommodating. Really appreciated them!
- Catherine (10/5): - Layout and amenities of Red Bud Inn were perfect for us in our journey to Yosemite NP. The staff were very accommodating. The room, bathroom, kitchen were ideally clean and well appointed. I was much better than we expected for our needs. The only draw back is the noise on the highway, which we contributed to with our driving. We may stay here again in the future, if we return to the area.
- Hyeun (4/5): - This property is not clean enough. I don't know when they cleaned the cabinet in the kitchen. And TV did not show any channels. But the room is more spacious than I expected.
- Heather (8/5): - Nice for how described
- Fernando (2/5): - N/A
- Nicole (6/5): Red Bud Lodge Very Isolated. - Fidning the Red Bud Lodge was the first adventure next to no signage you come around a blind corner and the parking lot entry is right there (a gap in the concrete edging into very tiny carpark.).The Red Bud Lodge was clean and large size room with a mini kitchenette. The staircase was very steep to access the room via an external set of stairs. The location has no cell service, no phone in room, there is no onsite manager if anything is required you need to travel about 3 miles to Cedar Lodge who also manage this hotel. Distance to Yoemsite NP is great. The dining options are very limited there is a restaurant at Cedar lodge where we found restaurant staff rude unhelpful and the prices were ridiculous for a hamburger.
Please be prepared if staying here to have your own food. The parking is also very limited not enough spaces for all the rooms. Overall I would look at alternative options if going to Yosemite NP.
- Cecilia (10/5): - It was much better than imagined
- Dustin (4/5): - Theres alot of things that made our stay very complicated. Such as no wifi, and only 2 channels on the TV. There was only hot water coming out of the sink. The shower water was also not that cold. No cleaning service or staff.
- Lawrence G. (8/5): - Every thing you needed for a comfortable stay. Was a nice quietspot ,nice view out window of mountain. A fry pan would have been nice to use on the electric burner. We would stay again!
- Jill (10/5): - Nice place to stay that is pretty close (8 miles) to Yosemite. The rooms are all on the second floor up an outside steep staircase if that is difficult for you. They have no front desk there so you have to check in at the Cedar Lodge down the street but that was no big deal. The room had a kitchenette of sorts with a hot plate, dishes etc but we didn’t realize that so didn’t take advantage of it. Friendly staff. Clean room.
- Khalil (6/5): - Great spot near a bridge where 2 rivers come together. Walk across the street to have coffee on the river. Unfortunately the nights we stayed construction on the bridge started after 9pm. Otherwise lovely spot and place.
- Aaron (10/5): - This was a nice place close to Yosemite. The deck out front was nice to enjoy the evening. It is not fancy but had a huge bathroom, the beds were comfortble and it was clean. I would stay there again
- Amit (2/5): - Worst hotel I have ever seen in US
- Rutu (2/5): - Worst hotel experience, and that too at such exorbitant rates.
- Evelyn (10/5): - Clean and quiet:)
- RIKA (10/5): - The room is very nice and warm, it is very nice there is microwave!
- yuanhua (10/5): - kitchen
- Leticia (8/5): - the check in office is not on the property I drove about 1 1/2 mile to check in and that was a big problem if you are tired of driving.
- Altoir (8/5): Would stay there again - You need to check in further up the road at Cedar Lodge, but it is a small drive back and forth (this is also where the restaurant is located)
The wifi was great, the room was clean and comfortable, and there was nothing like sitting on the porch, watching the sunset over the mountains.
The breakfast buffet is all right, and the staff is very kind.
- Varduhi (2/5): - Needed a last minute hotel and booked this without realizing it was a 1-star hotel, which was priced way to high for the rating and quality.
1) Dirty: as we entered, saw hair in the bathroom floor, sink and tub. The toilet had brown stains on the rim. When opened the bed to get in, found a chunk of hair on the pillow.
2) Linens: they stored lots of linens in the room dresser, so if someone touches them or slightly uses them and puts them back, they likely do not get washed between bookings. Also, because all 6 drawers were full of supplies, there was nowhere to store our belongings. No other drawers anywhere. The bed cover and base also had holes.
3) Old room, holes in the walls, dusty bed. Perhaps okay for the 1-star rating, but definitely not ok for the price they charge.
4) There is no staff on the premises and there is no phone in the room. If you need any supplies, you have to drive 2 miles to their main location with staff and ask what you need. We went to pick up a box of tissues and on our way back to our hotel, we got stuck on the road closure at 7:30pm because the hotel didn't even tell us that due to road work, they close the one lane street for 30 -60 minutes at a time. 4) did not warn us of the road closures. Because we got stuck the first night, we ended up canceling all of our evening plans for the remainder of our stay out of fear that the road may close and we wouldn't be able to get to our hotel when we wanted to. Would not stay here again.
- Kishan (8/5): - To check in we had to go to cedar lodge which is 2.5 miles away from red bud lodge. Moreover, the parking was full at the red bud lodge, so we were asked to park beside the road which was not safe at all. Apart from that the room was clean and all appliances were working.
- Omar (6/5): - Tall ceilings, large beds, nice little kitchen.
- Fridge was loud and didn't cool things well. The AC smelled extremely musty so we kept it off to avoid breathing in mold.
- rajendra (10/5): - Good place
- Roger (8/5): Big room closer to Yosemite National Park - Spacious room and a full kitchen, including a full sized refrigerator.
Fantastic location just outside the park. The place was clean and the area was relatively quiet.
However, if you're a light sleeper like I am, you may want to bring ear plugs because the air conditioner is kind of loud. And if you plan to sleep late, the cars speeding by the highway are also pretty loud. Finally, you may also want to bring an eye mask because (at least in our room) there's a light right outside the door that tour can't turn off (the light from it comes through the high windows which have no blinds.)
Recommend you buy water or bring your own since the tap water here has a sulfur smell and doesn't taste very good.
I've seen a lot of reviews on here complaining about the fact that you have to check in at the Cedar Lodge hotel a few minute drive down the road. We didn't find that to be a problem. The market there was super convenient and we had dinner at the restaurant (food was just ok).
IMPORTANT NOTE: check in (only at the Cedar Lodge) is only from 4 pm - 6 pm,a very tight window!
- Stephanie (4/5): - The property looked closed and abandoned when we drove up, especially with the keep out sign in the parking lot.
We had to check in at a location 3 miles away and there was no staff or any amenities onsite. The room was acceptable but not worth the daily rate.
- edwin (10/5): - The property manager and his assistant were excellent to work with!!!! Thank you, thank you!!!!
- Jacob (8/5): - Location is good but having to drive up the road to check in and use there facilities was not ideal. Beds were not comfortable
- AMIT (10/5): - Good location, On hi way 140, 20 minutes from Yosemite entrance. The room was clean.
- Mikael (8/5): Good cabin - Simple. Close to yosemite. Comfortable bed and ok kitchen. Air conditioning was loud
- jim (2/5): - I arrived later afternoon on a Monday. NO ONE was on property to check us in! There was a hand written sign that said to check in 2 miles up the road. NEVER HAVE HAD THIS EVER HAPPENED BEFORE! I drove 5 miles up the road to a hotel with a different name, waited in line for 20 mins to ask about our hotel. They indicated that they work for both hotels and could help us. Thank Goodness, they let us stay at their hotel instead of heading back to a desolate area with no signs or evidence of life. Worst ever!! Don't go here!!
- Kristine (6/5): - Red Bud is quirky but comfortable and very close to the Yosemite Park entrance. Much quieter than other nearby lodges, comfortable beds. Water pressure in bathroom uneven and you have to carry luggage up stairs. Beautiful scenery.
- Nancy (4/5): - The room wasn’t that bad, but the road noise is crazy! We also had to check in several miles up the road, was very inconvenient.
- Elena Cardenas (10/5): - Loved the pillows and bed. I also liked that our room had a microwave and a mini refrigerator. Will likely stay here again!
- Caroline (6/5): - I needed a place to stay at the west of Yosemite valley. This place was fine, clean and tidy. However, for the price (much more expensive than a room in Oakhurst at the south), and that the check-in was in a different place 2.5 miles east, it felt over-priced for what was on offer.
- Verified traveler (8/5): Close to park without the crowds! Stay here! - Would stay again!! This was the perfect accommodation for our trip to Yosemite. We had a full kitchen (complete with an oven!), which was so nice to be able to make all our meals. There is a small grocery store in El Portal which has decent prices and (surprisingly) a good number of options (ie. GF pizza). There is also a larger grocery store in Merced appx 30 min away that we hit on our way in. The room we had was the upper unit on a small out-building. We had vaulted ceilings, bathroom was decent (with plenty of towels) and kitchen was somewhat adequately stocked. We did bring some supplies of our own - cutting board, hot water boiler, etc. Check in is down the road (toward the park) at the Yosemite Valley Lodge. Wifi was good, since there is no service there. TV worked, though we didn't use it. There is also a really lovely hike (Hites Cove) that is just to the side of the Lodge. It was quite perfect to be able to escape the crowds of the park with only a 35 min drive into the park. Other nice amenities - just up the road is a Tesla Supercharger (about 10 min outside of the park), and a small restaurant attached to the hotel that supplies that. The only pitfalls are that our room was quite outdated, lacked some basic supplies (ie. cutting board), and it is just off the road, so there is quite a bit of road noise. Bonus - there's an AC unit AND once the road noise dies down, the rapids are a lovely background noise.
- Kevin (10/5): - Quiet and comfortable
- Yanning (10/5): - 30 minute drive to Yosemite Tunnel View, so this place is convenient. Clean and lovely room with a mini kitchen including microwave and refrigerator. Bathroom is clean and big enough. The view outside the room is also gorgeous, it is a pleasure to wake up every morning and enjoy the creek view and fresh air. Such a good getaway experience. Also, the wifi connection is good.
- Seth (10/5): - Check in and out process was super easy, staff at Cedar Lodge were very friendly. The Wi-Fi is actually superb which was a great surprise (it’s also free). Location is right on main road but secluded enough and a short 20 min from park entrance. Inside is very clean and well kept with plenty of cooking supplies, including a stove top and toaster among other things. Would definitely recommend.
- Paul (8/5): - It is a cool space and you check in up the road maybe 2 miles away. The Expedia reservations accept Discover but ended up needing to put a different card down for the trip at the hotel because they did not accept Discover or Amex. Nice space, cool to have a full kitchen at an affordable rate. We will come back!
- Michael (6/5): No cellular sognsl - THERE IS NO WIFI AND NO CELLULAR SIGNAL
It is an isolated place in the middle of no where. Travelers must be clearly made aware of that!!!!!
- CHEN (6/5): So-so stay - One of the bed is not clean, we found out other people’s hairs on the pillows and
Bed sheets. We can hear people movement from next door, such as flushing toilet, water heater for shower.
- Victor (8/5): - Not enough parking lot. And the office is 2 miles far from the room, no wifi
- Sanh (8/5): Just sleep ! - Just sleep and tv.
No phone, no Wi-Fi, no internet.
- Bonnie (8/5): - Close to Yosemite park
- Ron (8/5): Stay - The room I was in had a noisy AC and the worst was hair on the pillow and multiple hair left in the sink and shower and soap dish. Other than that a nice room. I was also no wifi or internet at this hotel. I was also not informed of the need to go to another Hotel to check in 2 miles further down the road. If I had known, I would have booked there!
- Emilia (6/5): - The place is very clean spacious it has kitchens and big refrigerator which is great for a trip to the mountains we cook there. But the air conditioning makes a lot of noise it was hard to sleep, shower has little water and is very hot, it is difficult to take shower, TV does not have good programming.
- Adam (10/5): - The room is large. The kitchen is equipped with everything, including plates and pots.
Away from the hustle and bustle
- Pranav (4/5): - You reach at the property late evening or night to find out that there is no front desk. Just a board saying check in is at another hotel 2 miles away. This is very inconvenient. Plus there is no communication from the hotel beforehand providing these "special" "wierd" check in instructions.
In general the room was ok, clean. But anything you might need assistance with, you would need to drive 2 miles and ask them. Coz there is no mobile reception, qnd the wifi is spotty.
My hot plate was not working. We ended up not cooking at all, rather than go back 2 miles and complain about it. So, if you love to be on your own, solving your own problems yourselves without the help from the front desk, this is the perfect property for you!
Just imagine, after checking in, if your key doesn't work ... what would you do?
- Megan (10/5): - Nice two bed room located right off the main road. Perfect location just a short drive from the Arch entrance to Yosemite National Park. Red Bud has access to the amenities of Cedar Lodge (check in location) just down the road. Would stay here again and I recommend as a budget hotel.
- Craig (10/5): - perfect quiet sanctuary near the entrance to Yosemite. there were WiFi issues but the technician created a temporary account on the home server for us and it worked well. Friendly staff, nice stay.
- Marine (10/5): - Custumer service was amazing, the hotel was a walking distance from the river. It was great.
- Robert (6/5): - Restaurant hours limited and menu poor and expensive. No internet workout paying and no TV cause it was firestick and no internet unless you paid f itt it. No cell service. Room was good
- Sudhind (2/5): - Checkin had to be done at other property which was 2 miles down. I was given a room which already was allocated. I walked in on a sleeping person. This was unsafe for me and family as well as other person. I stepped out immediately and the person did not even realize. At night 10.30 pm I had to go back 2 miles down and ask for another room. The person at counter did not even apologize. There was no wifi. So basically no connectivity and no support staff
- Shirley (10/5): - Friendly staff. Great room.
- Nancy (2/5): - First of all there is no cell phone service at this location and no land line, if something is wrong you have to get in your car and go 3 miles up the mountain and get someone at their other motel. This happened to us, we didn't get into our room that first night until 9:30 and were worn out by our first day of traveling. We wanted to take a bath or shower and neither my husband or myself could get the water to come on, We tried every way they we could think of and still nothing. We could get the facet to come on at the sink but no warm or hot water. It was getting late and we needed to go to bed. The next morning we still couldn't get these things to work. Went down the mountain on the way to the valley and informed the manager and he blamed us not having hot water on our neighbors using too much. I had to get him to understand that about the shower control not coming on. He said that he would put a work order in for it to be checked out that day. Came back to the motel that afternoon and got one of the employees to follow us to our room to make sure everything was fixed, since we couldn't call them from that location. That was a good thing since we could not get either one of our keys to work. The worker that had followed us couldn't get us in either and he had a master key. He said that he would have to go back down and get batteries and a charger for the door reader. We didn't get into our room for over an hour and a half. Do not stay here
- Verified traveler (10/5): Excellent stay - Lovely room, excellent location. Very comfortable. Wifi only available at the main Cedar Lodge not at Red bud but not a problem as have to go there for the pool/food anyway.
- Nhan T. (6/5): - Environment is excellent; No staff works in this building. If we need something we don’t know how to . No Wi-Fi. Completely isolated from outside world.
- Adrienne (8/5): - There were comfy beds and the room was larger than average. A kitchenette in the double queen room was a bonus! They even had dishware to use. The room was older, but clean and maintained. There were only a couple of buzzy channels on the tv, and no cell or wifi service. I just wish the room had a telephone in case of an emergency.
- Dan (10/5): - The only negative aspect at all was the internet service.
