Guest Reviews
- calen (4/5): - Stinky dirty left over things from previous guests brooken lock on door , stains and missing trim in room , smelled like urine
- Paige (6/5): - Checked in super late, went to the room we were given and the door was not locked. No one was in the room, but upon looking at the comforter we noticed that there was a sticky spot and some stains. Went to the front desk and they immediately got us a new one. Then went back to the room and realized the keys didn’t work.
- Cindy (6/5): - The pool and whirlpool were ‘cloudy’ and not clean looking
- Gordon (4/5): - We slept there and expected to have breakfast. At 8:15 a.m., there was no coffee - none - for breakfast. The fruit bowl had two leathery and bruised oranges in it. The juice dispenser had neither apple nor orange juice available ... it just streamed what I believe to have been clear water. We didn't dare try the milk.
The first room we were provided had not been cleaned. Had to go back to the desk.
Room doors and bathroom doors were sticky.
The people at the desk were nice enough.
Not staying at that hotel again.
- Scott (2/5): - This property was not at all as advertised. Recommend do not stay at this establishment. The shower rod in the bathroom was broken so we were unable to take a shower and shut the shower curtain. The bed was hard covered in a terribly uncomfortable plastic protector sheets didn’t fit the bed so bad that we ended up coming home in the middle of the night.
- Dianne E (2/5): - Our first room was very humid. When my husband took his shoes off, his feet got wet. We were moved to another room. The new room had napkins and silverware in the dresser drawer, and there were drinks in the refrigerator from previous guests. There was a very limited breakfast. There was no juice, no coffee, the toaster did not work, and the pancake maker did not work. There was mold and rust in the bathroom.
I will not be staying in this hotel again.
- Tina (6/5): - People were nice, hotel needs work done, appears there was water damage, mold on ceiling shower, missing carpet in hallway, bottom of walls have damage. I believe they are working on this. Overall, stay was nice, quiet, hassle free but accommodations need work.
- David (6/5): Need to take out the carpet - Room had smelly dirty musty carpet
- Daniel (2/5): - I came late and that was ok and didn’t have to deal much with anyone however the next day i had breakfast, very limited choices, egg disks and sausage and pancake batter all over the counter, nothing set up either, the shower drain was plugged so i was standing in ankle deep water until i shut it off and let it drain so I could continue. The hot tub and pool were filthy so I didn’t want to get sick so I skipped that. Because of this hotel I will never use this chain again. Do not stay here ever
- Alicia (4/5): - Hotel staff and room were great; however, the room key system was down. Some guests had to have the staff unlock their doors manually for them. Someone tried to enter our room at 12:45am (tried a room key several times and twisted the handle). At 6am someone knocked at the door several times.
- Maribel (2/5): No good. Go somewhere else. - Pictures are old. The breakfast wasnt any good there was flies on breakfast. The pool was not clean. The lobby was full of boxes. I was overall very disgusting. If your gonna spend more than 150 for a room, i would suggest going to the country inn or best western. If you want cheap go to days inn. This place is not worth the 180$.
- Susan (8/5): - It would've been better had we been told about ongoing renovations, but otherwise good.
- Lindsee (10/5): Great place to stay - Amazing staff. Great breakfast. Very clean.
- Jenell (10/5): - Clean rooms, friendly staff, didn’t have a chance to use the pool but it’s plus! Showers were good, strong water flow, air conditioner worked great, and included a small breakfast, close to the highway, good location.
- Lori (6/5): - Breakfast was ok, felt like staff tried to be helpful. Motel and room were clean. Pool and hot tub were a shade of green and we were told the jets weren’t working in the hot tub. Bed was ok but AC and fridge fan in room were loud. And carpet in room was thin and felt damp (1st floor). They had received a shipment of new beds and TVs so appears they are trying to update.
- Tiger (10/5): - The owners of this hotel are very nice and helpful. It's a peaceful and pleasant place to stay. I will definitely return.
- Bradley (6/5): - So they had to change our room because they couldn’t open the door to the first one and the first one there was no carpet in the hallway so they changed our room to one they could open and when we went to go turn on the tv the tv didn’t work so there was another problem and the hot tub water was yellow it was so gross looking and the pool was freezing cold
- Lynn (6/5): - Changing out carpet and all the scraps were by entrance
- Thomas (2/5): - There is not enough words to describe what we encountered at this property. There was no mention of it being under renovation and that was not the only issue. I would avoid this place for the next 9 months and contact them directly to be sure everything is working the way it should before booking.
- Nathan (6/5): - K
- Ger (10/5): - It was nice and quiet fantastic service and gracious hosts
- Kim (6/5): - The own of the property was very nice and friendly. You can tell this is an older hotel. Things need to be updated in the rooms and carpet.
- Millie (8/5): Start of trip - Good motel for the money
- Malinda (2/5): - This property is in need of some major updating. Would not stay here again!!!
- Elizabeth (4/5): Needs a lot of TLC - This hotel needs a lot of TLC. Front desk messy, paint splatter on carpet, carpet dirty, bed sheets don’t fit, no toilet paper holder, eating area counters and tables dirty, no hot food, staff asleep on the couch. I stay at AmericInn’s a lot and this is the worse one I have ever stayed at.
- Tammi Lyn (8/5): Quiet retreat - The service was friendly and helpful.
- M746FIdianac (6/5): Place to lay your road weary head - Lodging prices are expensive in this area for some reason. I chose this as most reasonable for what I needed. Generally when I stay at Americinn they’re nothing fancy but usually are clean. This was the same. No surprises. They were extremely short staffed and they kept their number of rooms available for what they could staff. Nothing fancy for breakfast but there was something to eat but nothing hot short of toast. The rooms and motel were older and worn but the beds were clean and it wasn’t the worst I’ve slept on but it wasn’t the best either by a long shot. The bathroom was clean. Tub didn’t drain good while showering and that’s always gross. Front desk staff excellent customer service. Very very nice gentleman.
- Verified traveler (4/5): Old and worn down - The hotel showed its age. It was worn and old. Breakfast was weak. Didn’t even bother to shovel the sidewalks after an overnight snowfall.
- Therese (4/5): - When I got there, I discovered a broken chair which the owner fixed. He was very nice. As the evening wore on, an odor, like mold, became stronger and stronger. My allergies kicked and I broke out in hives. No other rooms were available as I can’t do the stairs. The morning breakfast was meager at best.
- Glen (4/5): - This hotel is very dirty and in need of some major repairs and updating! I would not stay here again
- Wayne (6/5): OK for 1 nite, needs repairs - Continental breakfast was very adequate with good selections. TV couldn't be rotated for view from bed! Shower curtain was on the verge of falling down.
- bradlQ9738EA (2/5): Would never stay again. - Hotel is dirty and outdated. Our room smelled like animal pee. Was told they were pet friendly when the reservation was made and then charged $30 a day. Was very rude and threatened to fine us $300 for having our dogs even though they were told we had pets when the reservation was made. Stayed three nights and nothing was said about the pets till the last night. Seemed sketchy. Would not recommend this hotel at all.
- Mary (10/5): - It is easy to get to. Was very quiet. The room was clean. The breakfast was on your own (no hot freshly made items). It was a comfortable stay.
- Verified traveler (6/5): Creepy stsy - It was dark and out dated. Didn't feel comfortable in room. Next morning whe. Getting out of shower someone tried entering the room. Do Not disturb sign was hsng on door ss well. They would have gotten in if door wouldn't of been lached. Creepy.
- Michelle (4/5): - It was a ok stay would I stay again no spend a little more and get a better place beds where hard pillows flat. Bathroom small.
- jeffpeyer (2/5): Zero is the score - Will never stay there again the fridge was loud and didn’t work, garbage behind the tv stand only 1/2 roll
Of toilet paper in the bathroom this place is a dump honestly
- ngundie (2/5): Rooms need major updating and repair - The room I stayed in was so damaged that I had to request another room for the next night which was only slightly better. There was mold in the bathroom above the shower, The ceiling tiles in the bathroom were warped and not fitting properly due to water issues, The plaster on the ceiling near the outside window was starting to fall down/off.
- Y314CJcherylb (2/5): Poor hotel - I think who every is in charge of the motels in your Corp office should go out and stay in the motels, without letting the owners or mangers know they are from the Corp office
- Stevan (8/5): - Staff was great. Comfortable and quiet
- shaun (2/5): Clean but bad smell, old building, over priced!! - When we opened door the smell of stale cigarettes or just closed up old smell. Was very disappointed after spending almost 2 hundred dollars, one bedspread had what looked like old stains on it, the fridge was on high and our water wasn't even cold in morning. There book in room wasn't updated, it stated that the breakfast served every day had eggs, waffles, which neither were there (also) on web site. Not sure I want to be a Wyndham customer? Very disappointing one nite stay!!!
- Scott (10/5): - Clean room.
- Tony (4/5): - Clean that hot tub please
- Tami (2/5): - It was not worth the price! The pillows were horrible and the bed was not soft. I had a 2 night stay and when i left the 1st morning my room was set at 68 with the fan running. When I returned that night they had changed it to 75 with the fan off. It was 90 degrees out, who does that! The bathtub and refrigerator were also stained yellow, and they had mouse traps out in the hallways! If I had other options I would not have stayed here!
- Marvena (10/5): - Even though the place needed some updates it was clean and the staff was great. Pillows could be better and beds better but we very much enjoyed our stay 😊
- Todd (6/5): - Hotel was affordable clean enough but furnishings are dated.
The continental breakfast was lacking. No eggs, pancakes or breakfast meats. We found ourselves having to go out to eat every morning, which delayed getting a start on our plans for each day. The smoe alarm went pff three days in a row from someone burning their toast. Sounds like a ventilation problem that could resolve not having customers wake up in fear at 6 or 7am.
- Marilee (2/5): - It was expensive and plain. Needed to be updated! The toilet seat was loose and it flushed on its own. The maid took our dirty towels one morning and didn't replace them. The breakfast was continental, not even waffles! I've stayed at hotels that were suites that were less expensive and you got a warm breakfast. I would discourage anyone from staying there
- sheri (10/5): - Nice older hotel
- Karla (8/5): - Overall it was fine. Our room door wouldn’t shut automatically so we had to make sure it was pulled shut. We found a previous persons socks left behind chair. We didn’t touch them but that makes me question cleaning. Had to ask for towels for pool, shouldn’t they be in there? Always got what we ask for right away & they were friendly
- Teresa D (4/5): - Way overpriced for what you get. Rooms clean enough but granite around shower stained, sheets rough, looked clean. Recliners old and wore out, air/heat units barely functional. Only one small garbage can (Go to the Dollar Store) Safety, good thing I didn't realize till morning, or I wouldn't have slept. Windows don't lock!! Ground floor wouldn't even need a step to get in. Breakfast cold cereal, toast and watered down orange juice. Paid 135 a night, definitely not worth it. When I checked with Expedia the next day rooms were only 105 what the heck?? Not recommended.
- fyecourtney (2/5): Not worth the stay, - Do not stay here it is not worth it at all, I paid 178$ for two queen beds, they were hard as a rock and the pillows are flat as pancakes, The carpet was not clean it had that waxy dirty feeling on it, the sink in the room had yellow water coming out of it. There was dirt/ dust in the corners of the counter as if they were not cleaned out. there was only 1 towel in our room, the toilets are made for toddlers, the shower has mold in all the corners, and on the wall and ceiling above the shower, the pool room has no towels, and the jets have green slimy stuff on them. Left at 7am because I just couldn't stay there anymore.... not worth the money./.....
- Katy (6/5): - The staff was nice. The room smelled bad. The hotel looked run down.
- Cynthia (4/5): - This place was dump for the money. It stunk & the carpet was absolutely horrible.
- Natasha (2/5): Not good - It wasn’t clean , like it said it was online. They had no towels in the pool room for anyone to use so you had to go up to your room sillier wet. The carpets were very used. Holes in The walls that were just puttied. The breakfast wasn’t good either. They just had bagels and little muffins with milk in a picture in the fridge. I’m glad in was only 1 night 😬
- Michael (10/5): Great for family function - Great stay for the funds. Staff was great!
- mberg2016 (6/5): A Few Loose Ends - It's hard to go wrong with an AmericIinn - they are generally good, solid, no-frills, pleasant places for the money. Willmar is no exception.
But there were a few loose ends. My internet never connected, and the TV turned on but didn't show any kind of signal. .
These were minor annoyances, since I stopped for a short evening - I got in around midnight, and left around 9AM.
The breakfast - which is normally excellent at AmericInns in my experience - was a problem. When I arrived, there was one little microwaved, pre-formed one-egg "omelette" and a couple of breakfast sausage patties - which were the only low-carb options (to be fair, they had plenty of cereal and waffle mix - which I love, but can't eat :(). . Clearly the front-desk guy was overworked - he was microwaving more food and bringing it into the breakfast corner while trying to check people in and out and work with the housekeeping staff.
Room was small - which wasn't a problem since I spent probably an hour awake in it. If I'd have had to stay there longer, that might have been. more of a problem.
It was clean! Kudos to housekeeping!
It's a nice hotel. Just a few rough edges.
- hoofandsaddle (2/5): Not worth it - Great for construction workers that are on the road. Families and couples steer clear. The amenities are barely functioning (pool and hot tub are just gross) the breakfast is stale/old/reused the next day. And if you just need a place to sleep- the bed is tolerable but this is definitively not a luxury hotel.
- D2551FGryane (2/5): Terrible - I would Never ever stay here again in my life. Had to wait for him to re program our room cuz it didn't work when we got there.. the place is dirty nd dusty. Floors nd bed shirts where dirty nd staind
- R6266ZOjefff (2/5): Billed for rooms that were cancelled - Had to cancel 2 rooms I made for family because they got covid. Called the hotel directly and they said the rooms were cancelled, but I also had to cancel on the Wyndym Rewards site because I made my reservation there. I did that and got two cancellation confirmations, but the charges were still made on my credit card. I will be ending my two decade relationship with Wyndym Rewards and finding a new hotel program incentive.
- khemot (10/5): Clean and comfortable - The room was clean and for this price point, that was the most comfortable bed I've ever slept in in a hotel. The breakfast had lots to choose from, waffles, eggs, sausage, cereal, toast, bagels, juice, yogurt...
- Q9898LSaninj (2/5): Literally Horrible - This is One of the most disgusting hotels, you walk in and smell a rancid smell. There are stains on the carpets. The shower had grum all over the walls. The AC unit was very obnoxious and definitely needed to be replaced. The place is not well cleaned and very outdated. The pool has definitely not been cleaned in a long time. The staff is very rude and refused to give extra towels, blankets pillows or anything as if they are trying to save money. The front desk staff followed a hockey team family to their room and yelled at them telling them the need to be quiet keep in mind he was being very rude after the team did nothing. He then threatened them telling them he was going to call the cops after kids they didn’t even know we’re running down the halls. I would never recommend staying here even if it’s only for one night. The place is just overall sketch and there’s no way they would pass inspection.
- Bryanem (10/5): Nice Hotel - Nice hotel. Quiet and clean. Room had a comfortable recliner chair. Fast check in. Good breakfast. AmericInns are consistently good and this was no exception. Room had a big refrigerator and microwave. I would definitely stay here again.
- W7597XRevanw (2/5): Gross - Dirty and disgusting. Needed to be restored 10 years ago. You can smell the piss as soon as you walk into the pool room. The hot tub is the grossest thing I've ever seen I devated even soaking my feet in it.
- Storyteller546664 (4/5): meh - low cost option for the area. surface clean but could use attention under and behind things. very dusty like years of dust. breakfast is ok. please be aware that this location will charge your credit card to day you check in for the entire stay. Kinda weird.
- Passport10111222 (2/5): Huge let down - Wheel chair accessible room cannot her past Bathroom to big of furniture to get past. No roll away will not provide extra blanket or pillow for air mattress we brought. Pillows on bed are FLAT. shower grout should been white button half was black/brown was accused of having extra swimming guests we were only one in pool area, have to call for pool towels and wait. Knew 4 in room only left 2 bath towels!
- CleanPlease1971 (4/5): Better than the Days Inn - Outside looked nice enough. Inside seemed dark and dingy. My room's carpet was gross, and the entire place looked and felt dirty. I will say that the front desk staff was pleasant and friendly, and was able to book me a room without a reservation.
Stay here over the Days Inn down the road! There, if you don't tell the manager exactly why you "need" a room in his hotel, he will tell you to leave and ban you from the property!
- grantvankeulen (4/5): Price discrepancy - I charged more at checkin than I was quoted when I booked over the phone. I was told I would receive a confirmation email but never did. They still had my reservation saved but at the more expensive price.
- leroyh2020 (4/5): Stay elsewhere - The place is grody and dark. Getting extra towels for pool or room is difficult. We were mischarged, and now I'm trying to fix that with corporate. Sprinkler alarm went off for whatever reason at ~2:00am, woke us all up night before long travel. Pool & hot tub area OK, breakfast OK. Possible drug activity observed. Next time we'll pay more to stay elsewhere.
- amandawY2987XJ (2/5): DO NOT STAY HERE - By far the worst experience of my life. Rude staff, dirty, smelly, they do not follow Americinn rules! Refuse to give extra towels or blankets, no towels, paper towels or toilet paper in pool room (for them to save money) and forced us to pay $100 cash only deposit, for which I had to go to an ATM. Not cleaned well, stains on furniture, carpets and walls. The pool water is dirty, there are rusty metal pieces in the pool room floor. The owner yelled and talked down to Hopper staff as well and refused to refund stay so we could go elsewhere. Worst customer service ever!
- henry (10/5): - Great customer service
- Verified traveler (4/5): - The front desk staff was rude and unwelcoming. The hot tub was out of order. The pool was very dirty
- Susan (4/5): Extremely bad experience!! - Manager was not helpful. Never had anyone at the front desk when I needed assistance.
Not at checkin or checkout. No towels at pool, heating in room was off, had to reboot after we were already in the room. Definitely not worth the amount paid. Would actually like a refund!!!
- Marilyn (8/5): - It was a short stay, the accommodations were clean and comfortable, the staff super accommodating and friendly. I would recommend to my friends
- Verified traveler (6/5): - Property was tired, but clean. Had a small issue with our room that the manager cleared up immediately. Breakfast was lacking but we didn't starve. Pillows are horrible I still have a sore neck overall it was a clean place to sleep. There was an additional charge if you wanted to use the swimming pool which wasn't an issue for us but may be for others
- Verified traveler (6/5): Nothing Special - Check in as over-complicated and unfriendly. Room was fine, bed was extra firm, breakfast was scant. Over priced in our opinion.
- Verified traveler (10/5): - Checking in was simple and fast, pool was good and the staff always brought you a towel
- Verified traveler (4/5): - Pillows were hard and flat as a pancake. Mattresses shot . Not very restful
- Verified traveler (6/5): Sub-par - I wasn’t a huge fan of this hotel. Didn’t feel very clean, the room I stayed in was a bit cramped (the furniture was all crowded together). Willmar smelled awful the day I was there too, so that helped. The breakfast looked decent but the waffle mix was sour. I was unimpressed.
- Verified traveler (6/5): - Way past its prime not worthy of the Americinn name
- Verified traveler (8/5): - The value for your dollar is definitely here. We came in from Wisconsin for a family gathering. We searched the internet for the best value and were pleasantly surprised at the rate and the value at AmericIn, Willmar. The checkin was professional and courteous, and very accommodating to our last minute changes. The breakfast fare was the normal hotel fare, but the price, room size, courteous staff, and comfortable pool & hot tub were wonderful.
- Verified traveler (8/5): - Rates were good when i went expedia i had called toll free number and was not happy with added charges there so i cancelled thru then and went on line. Room was a litte small but clean
- UnhappyCustomer (2/5): - The creative name is where it stops with positive things to say about this hotel. There are MANY cleanliness issues here. They hadn't cleaned the toilets in what looked like weeks with a thick ring of mold. The towels have never been replaced with holes and with thread barren edges. There were many sealing issues with the granite in the showers, the sink didn't drain properly, the water was yellow, and the walls were poorly patched up from previous art (everywhere), the ceiling was peeling, and there were no elevators in the building. Highly UNACCEPTABLE.
Customer service was lacking when we checked in, and worsened when we attempted to check out. Do not waste your money here, and instead bring your service next door and you will not be disappointed.
- nimmer (4/5): - I felt that the room was WAY overpriced. I was a single occupancy in a VERY
small room which cost $99 per night.
- Nate (4/5): - The owners were very kind. Though little knowledge of the surrounding community and not very forward thinking for guest who may be under utility work, even when it appeared to be only 3 guests.
- Jacie (10/5): Easy to find! Budget Friendly! - Great breakfast options, pool very clean, bed was good, pillows were a little less than I like. But I'm sure others like them that way!
Overall, great stay. Would stay there again!
- Verified traveler (8/5): - Clean basic hotel with pool and breakfast. Staff was nice enough to let us use the breakfast area for eating out pizza.
- sam (10/5): - Very accommodating. Couldn't have been better.
- Verified traveler (2/5): - Hello!
I was a recent customer at this hotel in Willmar, MN. I am so disappointed with our stay and all the distress we had to experience.
First, we woke up Saturday to get breakfast only to find a police officer behind the desk! The hotel had no staff for a couple of hours and they left their guest with no hot breakfast, expired bread & milk.
Then, we were advised to pack up our things since we were not sure if the hotel was going to be open because the office was unable to reach the hotel staff.
My husband and I pack up our belongings not knowing where we were going to stay. It was so embarrassing & the worst experience we ever had! I did called to see if we were able to come back and the lady that answered was very rude and had no idea what I was talking about. I know other guest felt the same way and have taken pictures of the incident.
I am seeking for a full refund of my stay. I have pictures of proof of everything that i mentioned above.
I hope other guest don’t ever experience what others guest and I did in this hotel.
- Anita (4/5): Bathroom & Area needs remodeling - I was in town for a horse show and had expected to have 3 clients with me who did not come. I asked if I would get a different rate and she said no. The room was clean and so was the sink but under the sink the carpet was torn and a hole the size of a large grapefruit was bare. The shower walls looked as if they had mold in the corners..might have been clean but most disturbing. What sounded like an appliance starting up and off woke me each night twice once at 2 am and again at 4:30am I called the front desk as the tv remote did not work and they told me I would just need to press the button on top. it worked to change channels but not to start or turn off. The fruit in the breakfast area on saauturday was damaged (apples had soft spots all over them). I meant to go and ask for a refund but had to leave in the morning in a rush as I overslept. I never thought to take pictures I certainly will next time if I find myself in something like this. It was room 110 AmericInn in Willmar, MN. Staff I dealt with was very nice, but quite young. I felt like it was more like a Motel 6 than an AmericInn.
- Greta (10/5): - I loved the recliner in my room, really feels like home! The hotel is also super quiet and clean
- Verified traveler (6/5): - The property is a little run down, tv stations did not work and breakfast is mediocre.
- Verified traveler (10/5): - Clean and orderly. Checkin was OK after my reservation was found. I did miss a closet to hang my clothes.
- Verified traveler (8/5): - The safety peephole in the room door was positioned too high. A 5 foot tall woman traveling alone cannot look to see who is knocking unexpectedly on her door. Quite the safety failure.
- Ashley (6/5): - The deluxe room was advertised with 2 queen beds and a couch. The room did not come with a couch. I paid extra for the “deluxe” room versus a standard 2 queen bed room. I was traveling with my children and was counting on being able to use the couch as extra sleeping space.
- Jessica J (2/5): Worst staff ever! - We had 4 rooms booked, receptionist tried to tell us 2! No door keys worked! we ended up with a master key. That was the only thing that could get us in! One room had blood on the foot of the bed! Then, we were charged double for every room! It was not Hotels.com fault. Just completely awful staff!!!!! Never again!!
- Verified traveler (8/5): - The Willmar Americinn had a great price and clean rooms.
- Verified traveler (6/5): - In need of many updates. The area around the hotel was not great.
- Verified traveler (4/5): - It needs lots of updating ! The carpet in the room was so dirty I left my shoes on except when I went to bed . Breakfast was really disappointing. I could not recommend this to anyone. The girl was nice at the desk .
- Verified traveler (4/5): - This is an old hotel clearly been smoked in for years.
- Verified traveler (2/5): - We potentially received bed bugs from our stay and when trying to contact and discuss the situation with both the property and expedia we were treated very poorly.
- Molly (6/5): Not impressed - The pictures are a bit deceiving - room was very small with not a lot of room to move. Close to train tracks and trains were going all night. Breakfast included warmed flash-frozen egg discs and a small offering of bagel varieties- and no non-dairy options for milk or creamer for the lactose-intolerant. The workout area is actually a pass to the local Anytime Fitness.
Probably wouldn't stay again.
