- gabibail (10/5): Unforgettable Experience - We stayed for days in Southern Camp of Kapama Lodge. It was really magic. During the Game Drives we saw the Big Five and many other animals. The staff is competent, very good trained and heartwarming friendly. We can absolutely recommend a trip to Kapama Lodge.
- C8332GLheleng (10/5): The best experience in the best place! - This exceeded all expectations. From the moment we landed at the small airport, taking the drive in the Jeep up to the accomodation and seeing an elephant having a bath and Giraffe's strolling by, the accomodation, the food, the staff, the pool and the very relaxed feeling. I cannot recommend this enough. Seeing 'The Big Five' and SO much more on every Safari. Our rangers Ulani & Syven were fantastic. This place is a MUST if you're considering a Safari!
- Brian (10/5): Brilliant stay in magnificent eco friendly surrounding with friendly staff, great food and drinks and top it all saw the - Location to the airport. Beautiful decor, eco friendly and outstanding staff. Wonderful to see the Rhinos with their horns. Safe to walk around the accommodation. Drinks included and great selection of quality wines. Delicious choice of food. Lack of off road game viewing even though we got to view the Big 5.
- 277marietteb (10/5): Kampama Soutern Camp - My safari trip to Kapama Private Game Reserve in Mpumalanga South Africa was nothing short of exceptional.
From the moment we arrived you get treated as a super valued guest, the Kapama Southern team made us feel genuinely welcomed small details like a cold wet cloth because of the high temperatures to cool down. The staff were warm, attentive, always going the extra mile to ensure every moment of the stay felt special. The lodge itself was STUNNING, combining modern comfort with a safari atmosphere. Beautiful luxury rooms, peaceful views, and thoughtful touches created a sense of calm and connection to nature.
The game drives were the undeniable highlight. Our ranger and tracker were outstanding — skilled, passionate, and eager to share their knowledge. Their ability to find wildlife left us in awe. We were fortunate to witness unforgettable sightings: lions, rhinos, hippos , elephants and giraffes wandering peacefully across the reserve, and even the elusive leopard.
Between drives, the food was superb. Whether enjoying breakfast after an early morning adventure or having a sundowner on a game drive in the bush it was spectacular
- elizabethrw3 (10/5): Once in a lifetime experience, but I’ll be back… - Everything was perfect— the people, the villas, the food. The safari experience on the reserve was unbelievable and unimaginable before you arrive. It was a spiritual experience like no other. The guides and trackers use their knowledge to create a once in a lifetime opportunity for you to envelop yourself in the natural world. I can’t imagine going on safari somewhere else after staying at Kapama.
- denisegreen0228 (10/5): Birthday weekend - Hanli, Lyzette
"Kapama Southern Camp - where words fail to express how EXCELLENT it is! The staff is something else 🤩 #Kapama #BestExperience #TravelSA"

- Safari13745368638 (10/5): Exceeded Expectations - We spent two days there as a group of business colleagues. There were six of us. Every part of the experience was terrific, including the safaris, the bush walk, the food, the accommodations, and the hospitality. The service was outstanding across the board.
They also made accommodations for two of us with special dietary requirements, including kosher, which we really appreciated. Lanie was our driver and host. He was a lot of fun and genuinely a great person. The rest of the staff was excellent as well. Always friendly and seeking to make sure we had a great experience
I highly recommend this place. I rarely write reviews, and usually only when expectations are exceeded.
- rachelhR567SQ (10/5): Most incredible experience - Had the most amazing 4 days at southern camp Kapama. The safari drives were breathtaking and learnt so much about all different animals & nature. Our guide & tracker (Eleck & Laybu) made our experience, thank you both! As well as Nate & Tandi who took such good care of us.
Get 2 drives a day which is perfect and we did bush walks on top which we loved. Food incredible and so accommodating that I don’t eat meat. Always options for me & ensured meat separate which appreciated.
Due to recent floods lots of roads closed but still saw big 5 & so many more animals. Loved being in truck following tracks and searching for animals. Our stay was 10/10 and highly recommend.
- Shauna (10/5): Must visit, incredible food and safari - Beautiful decor and real rustic feel
- Radek (7/5): Great! We loved the safaris most, absolutely excellent! - - Great location coming from the airport;
- The safari guides were absolutely excellent (great knowledge literally about all animals in the park, also took time to explain when we had questions; knowledge far beyond just the big 5)
- the safari guides took time to look for animals we were interested to see (they knew exactly how to track them to increase the probably); overall we saw such a variety of animals (way beyond the big 5)
- Great service and staff at the property
- Great quality of food and a lot of choice - The rooms need more maintenance and perhaps upgrading (there was a small leak in the roof during torrential rain)

- mthsgs (10/5): Unforgettable experience - We chose South Africa for our honeymoon, and Kapama Southern Camp turned it into an unforgettable experience. The biggest highlight was the amazing staff, who made us feel truly cared for with outstanding service, excellent food, and wonderful drinks. Seeing all of the Big Five was the perfect bonus to an already magical stay.
- nataliekF7621WG (8/5): Wonderful Service, Amazing Food & a Very Special Honeymoon Surprise - We spent one night at Southern Camp during our honeymoon — far too short, as we immediately fell in love with the atmosphere and the warm hospitality. The team surprised us with a beautiful honeymoon setup during dinner, which made the evening incredibly special. We were genuinely touched.
The food was absolutely fantastic, and the gluten-free options on both days were outstanding — especially the muffins at afternoon tea and the bread at dinner and breakfast. Truly the best gluten-free experience I’ve ever had anywhere. Service throughout the lodge was exceptional, and the staff were simply wonderful. Our room was extremely spacious, beautifully designed, and came with a private pool and a large bathtub. Overall, it’s a beautiful property, though it has more of a hotel feel rather than a classic lodge atmosphere — which can be perfect depending on what you’re looking for.
Regarding the game drives, the reserve is beautiful and our driver–spotter team was very friendly, but the drives were unfortunately not as successful as the ones we had at Buffalo Camp. We mostly stayed on the main roads, and it felt like there was less focus on tracking or actively searching for animals. We also didn’t have a sunset stop on the evening drive, which we missed, as these moments are usually one of the highlights of a safari. Apart from the common sightings — zebras, impalas and giraffes — we didn’t see much wildlife, which was disappointing since the drives are such an essential part of the experience. Overall, we still enjoyed the drives, and the hot water bottles and blankets were wonderful given the cold weather.
A few small suggestions:
• With the unusually cold temperatures during our stay, it would have been great if the room had been pre-warmed (even just via air-conditioning). I understand that energy saving might be a topic, but considering the cost of the stay, it would be a great improvement — especially since such a large room takes quite some time to heat up when it’s only 15°C outside.
• Since our previous days at Buffalo Camp had been rainy and also offered limited sightings, we asked if we could join an additional afternoon drive. Unfortunately, the price offered (2,000+ ZAR per person) was extremely high, so we had to decline. Given the overall cost of the stay, a more accommodating solution would have meant a lot.
Despite these points, the wonderful staff, the fantastic food, and the beautiful room made our stay truly enjoyable. We would love to return f
- russl7504 (10/5): Outstanding Five Star Experience - We have travelled to many countries in the world and stayed at many luxurious lodgings but Kapama Southern Camp far exceeds those ! Outstanding customer service and accommodation. We saw the Big 5 by our second safari and our guide and tracker - Carlos and Petrus were so kind, knowledgeable, professional and fun - whilst every thing was perfect at Kapama, these guys took it to the next level
- HELEN (9/5): -
- dljlovessjj (10/5): Wild and Wonderful - This experience far exceeded my expectations. I felt as if we were producing a nature documentary on our safaris. Staff, meals, and spa were excellent as well.
- NicoleM6518 (6/5): Not a 5-star Experience - This is my second time experiencing Kapama, 1st time I took my overseas guests to River Lodge. The positive of Southern Camp is it's a much smaller camp, so doesn't feel as hotel like - most of the meals were incredible. However, every second night they force guests to have a boma dinner where you have to sit with everyone in your vehicle - the game vehicle allocation is based on guests arriving & leaving the same time and not people of similar ages or background. The dinner is a buffet style braai and does not reach 5-star dining experiences - At the 4-star lodges I have stayed, the buffet is 5 times better. This experience ruined it for me, and I would say anyone travelling, you will have far better value for money if you stay at River Lodge. The standard rooms at River Lodge are also alot fancier. The staff were all incredible - other than the lodge manager who made a point to go around to every table and check their experience but ours, we were the only South African's staying at the lodge, so think she only cares about her international guests.
- Kirstin (8/5): -
- darrenlK8762PE (10/5): Big 5 ✔️ this trip meet everyone’s expectations for a luxury safari. All brought together by a fantastic team a must vivi - The safari from southern camp, was adventurous with luxury all brought together with fantastic staff, a MUST visit …..
- Sarah (10/5): -
- Msawakhe (10/5): Perfect gateway from the world - I liked every thing about the property very clean and relaxing Nothing
- Naomi (10/5): Unreal experience and a MUST DO - The food, the service, the atmosphere the whole experience was everything we dreamed off and more The price is a little steep. £1,700 per night is a lot of money then tips on top but it was a trip of a lifetime.
- Tracy (10/5): Awestruck - We loved everything about this property! We were upgraded to the Villa with the pool and felt so special. The property is amazing with wildlife moving within, beautiful meals and staff, every need catered for. The safaris were spectacular and we saw the big 5 in the first two safaris. Most importantly was the service provided by our Guide and Tracker - Carlos and Petrus - these guys were extremely knowledgeable, helpful and supportive. They made the whole experience outstanding. Nothing
- NancieS3 (10/5): Dream Bush Trip - We had the best time ever on our bush rides! Lani and Rulani were outstanding guides! Extremely knowledgeable, fun and kind! We saw the Big 5 within in the first 2 rides and we saw baby animals of so many kinds! We had fun counting giraffes which we saw 87! It was so much fun to learn about the bush and the animals! We also we searching for the little animals which made it even more joyful. It was an incredible resort. We also did a spa day and that was also amazing!
- Felipe (10/5): - Muito confortável, atendimento excelente!
- aishaalexandra1 (10/5): A heartfelt safari experience we will treasure forever - Our stay at Kapama Southern Camp was truly one of the most special and unforgettable experiences of our lives. My boyfriend had secretly let the team know that he was planning to propose, and from the moment we arrived, the entire staff went above and beyond to make everything absolutely magical.
Every detail was so personal, thoughtful, and full of heart. We were treated to the most romantic private dining experiences — one dinner by a fire with music, another overlooking the animals as the sun set, and even a private lunch in our villa. Each moment felt like something out of a dream, carefully curated and full of warmth.
The highlight of our stay was the lamp-lit proposal, surrounded by the sounds of the bush and the soft glow of lanterns. It was pure perfection — beautifully set up, the food was exceptional, and to top it off, the team came out to sing for us. It was one of those once-in-a-lifetime moments that we’ll treasure forever.
Our game drives were equally amazing. Lanie (our guide) and Rulani (our tracker) were incredible — full of energy, charm, and knowledge. They worked so hard to help us see the animals we were hoping for and shared such fascinating stories and insights about the wildlife. Their passion for what they do truly shines through and made every drive so much fun.
Prishant, who looked after us at every meal, was an absolute angel. She was so sweet, thoughtful, and creative, helping bring several of our beautiful private dinners to life. Every meal was stunning — the food was outstanding and clearly crafted by people who know and love what they do.
The spa ladies were also wonderful — our couples massage was heavenly and one of the most relaxing experiences we’ve ever had.
The camp itself is elegant, peaceful, and beautifully designed, but what really sets Kapama Southern Camp apart is the people. Every single member of the team is so kind-hearted, genuine, and dedicated to creating special memories for their guests. You can feel how much they truly care.
We left feeling so full of love and gratitude. Kapama Southern Camp will forever hold a special place in our hearts — not just for the breathtaking setting and incredible wildlife, but for the warmth, thoughtfulness, and magic that the team created for us.
If you are torn between different lodges and looking for the review to tip you in favour of Kapama Southern Camp , consider this it!!!
- owenmegt (10/5): Loved Kapama? - The Kapama Private Game Reserve is outstanding in every way. The food was excellent, although there was far too much. The physical facilities are attractive and unique. The staff go out of their way to be useful, polite, friendly and accessible. The game drives were fantastic. We were so lucky to be with Richard, our ranger. The experience from beginning to end was amazing.
- sparkies3951 (10/5): friendly staff with good accommodations - The staff are very friendly and accommodating, the rooms were very nicely decorated. They provide bug spray in the rooms for around the doors, maybe they could do some minor maintenance around the seals of the doors to keep out the critters vs bug spray.
Great experience and would recommend them to anybody who is looking for 5 star safari adventure.
- T8277YCmaryf (10/5): Kapama was a 5 star experience! - Everyone was extremely friendly and helpful at all times. Having one Ranger assigned to our group was great. The safaris were so awsome. And the blanket and hot water bottle made the early AM drive very enjoyable, a very nice touch! The Ranger found animals and was full of interesting information and was always willing to answer our questions. Food was very good and as much as you wanted. Drinks were included! Room was kept clean throughout our stay.
- Brucelabruce (10/5): Bucket List Experience - We had a great stay and were able to see all the big 5 at Kapama. Leopards are the hardest but we were very fortunate. The guide Richard was awesome and, extremely knowledgeable and the entire staff were great.
- irenempangana (10/5): The experience I will never forget - The experience I would not forget. I never thought of a hotel in the bush.I never thought that you can stand next to a lion or leopard inside a car
- 966sisit (10/5): Safari holiday with family - We had an outstanding stay at Kapama Southern Camp. We saw the big five easily, once all 5 on just one morning game drive. Our ranger, Richard, and tracker, D, were both excellent - super kind, funny, amazing guides who were exceptional at tracking animals and giving us amazing sightings. Our waitress, Thandi, provided incredible service the entire time and was the warmest face to see every day. She was entertaining too - funny and great at singing and dancing! The rooms are immaculate and we had everything we needed. The food was the highest quality with so much range and felt very balanced between fresh and indulgent. All of the staff at the lodge were amazing. I’d highly recommend to anyone thinking about doing a safari holiday.
- JonH1278 (10/5): Exceptional Safari Experience - Everything about our stay at Kapama Southern Camp was exceptional.
From the outstanding, huge accommodation, to the plentiful and delicious food and drink.
From the warm hospitality to the unbelievable twice per day safari experience with very knowledgeable and friendly guides who showed us the big five and much more, as we seemed to pack a whole life's worth of living cheek to jowl with African wildlife into just 3 days.
A truly exceptional and unforgettable lifetime experience.
- Gabriela (10/5): -
- TwistedMelon100 (10/5): Couldn’t do enough for us - Had an amazing time, saw the big 5 on the game drives, wonderful food, drink and service. The staff couldn’t do enough for us. As an example, my wife had some dietary requirements and each day specially prepared dishes were cooked for her. The camp is very well organised by management and a shoutout to those who looked after us: Carlos and Alpha our guides/tracker, Kati our waitress and Lonely who we kept busy at the all-inclusive bar…all were brilliant and always had a smile on their faces. Also a thank you to our fellow guests Mauricio and Connie who were great company and on their honeymoon.
- BijiMJ (10/5): Amazing employees amazing experience! - Our experience with Kapama Southern Tours was truly exceptional. After being unexpectedly let down by our original tour agency, Southern African Tours (operated by Craig and Bianca), the team at Kapama stepped in and went above and beyond to assist us. They not only helped us get back on track with our travel plans but also provided an incredible safari experience.
The guides were knowledgeable, friendly, and genuinely enthusiastic about sharing the wildlife with us. Breaks were made even more enjoyable with thoughtful touches like drinks and snacks. Every staff member we encountered was kind, attentive, and supportive—something we deeply appreciated given the stressful situation we were coming from.
We can’t thank the Kapama team enough for turning our trip around and delivering such a memorable experience.
- 34russ (10/5): Enjoy hospitality and explore nature - Safari in a private game reserve with all the amenities of five star resorts. Excellent meals and big five animals… enjoy!
- cw20252025 (10/5): African Safari - Luxury accommodations, Beautiful landscaping, Friendly, attentive, knowledgeable staff
Able to see the Big 5 plus other animals
Excellent game drives twice a day
- NaliniN7 (10/5): Perfectcamp for seeing the Big 5! - The rooms are spacious with a private balcony with great amenities - bottles of wine & mini bar were included in my tariff. There was a jar of home style cookies. I loved the library with tasteful decor. There is an outdoor pool * a lovely gift shop. All staff were helpful & personable. The restaurant had fabulous food with generous helpings - home style. Breakfast consisted of a selection of breads (muffins, grain bread, etc) plus choices for a hot dish with some innovative ones like deep fried boiled egg. Lunch & dinner were 3 course where you could expect to be served game such as ostrich to chicken & lychee tagine. Nd there was afternoon tea with sweet and savoury delights.
There are 3 hour each of morning & afternoon safaris and were guide & tracker were terrific - we got to see many animals including the big 5. Before the morning safari there is a snack with beverage and breakfast follows the safari. There is a short break during the safaris where we have tea/coffee & cookies for breakfast & alcohol with snacks like chips. A couple of times a week, buffet dinner is served under stars. I loved seeing the animals in the safari repeatedly, such a thril!
Very highly recommended camp!! Posting just a few photos, too many too add.
- donnawolfendenslater (10/5): Private Game reserve - The whole experience was out of this world.
Just do it you won't regret it.
The attention to detail was unreal, the staff were fantastic and only wanted to make you happy.
If you want to eat 😋 24 hours a day then this is the place to go.
Best experience so far in my lifetime.
- 386allanw (10/5): Fantastic resort and safari experience! - Property is first class. Meals were great. Personalized service is top notch. Guides were knowledgeable and fun. Private safaris on a private property are the way to go. So much wild life and we saw the Big 5 on the first day!
- K8194LIpeterc (10/5): Exceptional in every way. - When my wife and I walked into our room at the Kapama Southern Camp we both looked at each other and agreed that it was the nicest room we had ever stayed in. Everything, from the room, to the food, to the people, to the safaris, was exceptional. Every little detail was considered and executed to perfection, with love and care. We cannot rate the Kapama Southern Camp highly enough.
- laubed510 (10/5): Exeptional all-in experience! - We saw all big fives in an exeptional environment with delicious food! Attent personal and top accomodation.
- R7470QNrays (10/5): Amazing family trip - We stayed here for 3 nights at the Southern Camp we an 8 and 11 year old. It was a busy schedule but an amazing experience. Our guides were awesome and we saw the big 5 (two different leopards) plus giraffes, warthog, zebra, vultures, owl, wild dog, tons of impala, kudu, and other antelope. Food was all very good. It was tiring but a trip we'll never forget.
- lisamT8806LP (10/5): Amazing safari and wildlife experience - For our first safari experience, we were blown away at Kapama. Our guide Siven made this an amazing trip and we saw the "big five" not without great tracking and patience. It's an experience we will never forget.
- 821adrianl (10/5): Brilliant location - Excellent accommodation, friendly staff and the game drives were brilliant. Big 5, not a problem, the trackers can find them.
- dmitriysI3603DX (10/5): Lani - the best safari guide - Our safari guide, Lani, is a very bright, brave, and knowledgeable young man.
He knows the habits and behavior of animals so well that, in our opinion, he is simply a walking encyclopedia.
Lani, with his wonderful sense of humor, was able to ease our fear even in moments when it was a bit scary — for example, seeing predators right before our eyes — by joking and making us feel safe.
We wish Lani to always remain the same positive, intelligent person with an excellent sense of humor.
There should be more people like him working with tourists.
Tourists from Belarus.
- Marcelo (9/5): Fantástica - Las instalaciones perfectas El programa de actividades adicionales y masajes no era claro cuando se partía con que anticipación etc
- KrazyCanadian (10/5): Pampered and then some... - An amazing experience. If you want to be pampered, this is the place. Our early morning and late afternoon drives were amazing! Our driver and tracker could find (almost) whatever animal you would like to see, and then some! We even saw a pangolin! A rare sighting. Each experience is unique, but it seems that they know how to deliver a delightful stay.
- 263marcoantoniom (10/5): Ever lasting memories of a wonderful place - Impressive lodge in Great Kruger Area. Very professional and super nice team. Could see the big five a lots of other species. Absolutely recommend forma safari exoerience
- 831madana (6/5): Review - We booked 4 game drives. I went to only 3. It felt like waste of time since we could see impalas, bucks or deers mostly. We did see Giraffe couple of times. However, other animals of Big 5 were scarce (leopard, lion or elephant or rhino). Gym is located in one location and you have to "book" it. With safari, fixed time for meals it become difficult. Water leaks in my cousin's villa and leaking faucet in bath tub for my room. Otherwise, villas are nice. Couple's massage with stem room was awesome too. Do not appreciate expectation of tipping when bartender does not know how to make cocktails, cheap wine or whisky is free but you have to pay for Green label for example, it does not add to experience. Waiter did not seek to have positive energy. I would not go back primarily because game drive was not what I expected. Oh, one more thing, I did not get a receipt or print out of what I paid for.
- hillarywtrip (10/5): Highly Recommend for 5-Star Safari Experience - Our group of five absolutely loved our experience at Kapama. The property and rooms are very nice, the service is excellent, and the game drives gave us the safari experience we were hoping for. It is well worth the cost in our opinion! I would highly recommend 3 days here.
Game Drives: We were given the same guide and tracker (shout out Adolf and Lebo!) for all 3 days (6 total drives), which allowed for relationship-building, great communication, and non-repetitive sightings. No one can be guaranteed to see everything they want to, but they certainly try their hardest, and we did get to see the big 5 and more during our three days. If you are concerned about this reserve being fenced (like I was during the booking process), I don't think you need to be. The property is so gigantic that the animals still roam freely and it feels completely natural. Kruger as a whole is fenced, of course, so this is just a smaller version of that. Lastly, they only allow two vehicles to be viewing a sighting at one time, which preserves the experience of seeing the animals in their natural habitat rather than feeling like you're at a zoo. We went to Chobe in Botswana after this and were SO disappointed that 10+ vehicles were surrounding the animals, which hugely hurt the experience. These guides are knowledgeable, skilled, and respectful of the animals.
Food/Service: The food was very good, though I will say that it may not be suitable for particularly picky eaters at times. (I saw kids being given things like cheese pizza, hamburgers, etc., so I am talking more about adult picky eaters.) Just communicate in advance if you have someone who needs a simpler food offering, and I'm sure they will be willing to accommodate. I am a moderately picky eater, but usually found something I liked for each meal. The service is excellent and truly all-inclusive. Anytime we asked for an extra or modification, we were given it with kindness and joy. You will be offered food so often that you will be ready to fast after you leave!
Highly recommend Kapama!!
- willem6009 (10/5): Kapama expereince top of the pops - We spent 3 amazing nights at Kapama, and we were overwhelmed by the experience, from our arrival where we were welcomes by friendly staff right through to when we departed. The accommodation, food and service were all 5-star experiences, and we recommend Kapama to anybody who wishes to experience true game viewing and special treatment by each and every staff member.
- pvaneekelen (10/5): Kapana wildlife safari - Driving out of the airport and over the road takes you into the entry of the Kapana Game Reserve. The experience starts right there with wildlife crossing the road right in front of you as you make your way to the lodge.
Excellent accommodation options, first rate food experiences and space to have time by yourself.
A must see experience.
- OnAir11966032812 (10/5): Great experience - Super safari, food, warmth. Kids friendly. Lovely experience. Close to the airport. Housekeeping was top notch and so were the suites.

- Freedom67737002974 (10/5): Family safari - Fantastic family experience. Staff on resort and safari couldn't have been more helpful and engaging. Wonderful food and room - we were upgraded to luxury suite which was an amazing room. Direct pick up from and return to school east gate airport which made transfers quick and smooth. Animal reserve was diverse and amazing experience. Couldn't recommended enough
- mathukana (10/5): Bojanala - A wowed 'mojanala' local tourist impressed by the best of the best of 'Mzansi' South African hospitality
- thesimonshop (10/5): Incredible! - Staff and property were exceptional. Seven and Lady Dee were knowledgeable and friendly, could not have asked for better guides. View of animals was beyond what we hoped for.
- bha718 (10/5): Kapama Southern Camp: Highly Recommended - Kapama Southern Camp was a great choice for our safari experience. We booked this lodge through MoAfrika Tours as an all-inclusive, and it exceeded expectations. The accommodations were comfortable and tasteful. The food was delicious, although I admit I felt overfed and had to skip lunch sometimes! The highlight of our stay was, of course, the twice-daily game drives, where our two guides, Adolf and Forgive, really went out of their way to make our experience memorable. Some highlights were a herd of elephants, rhinos playing by a waterhole, leopards, lions, and more. We saw all of the "Big 5" while we were there, and so much more.
I realize that Kapama Southern Camp is an investment, but I believe it is worth it. Both my wife and I will not forget this experience.
- graeme174 (10/5): Safari stay - It was an amazing experience brought on by amazing staff that went out of their way to give their clients an explicit nothing before.
- H4513PYianc (10/5): The best Kruger safari experience ever - Kapana Southern Camp exceeded all our expectations for accomodation, safari experiences and dining options. We saw the Big Five and a great many other animals & birds & learned a lot about tracking as well as the animals themselves from our guides. The little indulgent touches provided by the staff during our stay just made everything very special. The staff are very attentive and knowledgeable and the room was incredible. Highly recommended.
- ruthdrouyn (10/5): Fantastic safari! - Absolutely loved my first visit to Kapama Southern Camp! Beautiful setting and people and a great safari experience.
- samd194 (10/5): Unforgettable honeymoon at Kapama - We recently spent 4 nights at Kapama for our honeymoon (29th May – 2nd June), and honestly, it was everything we could have hoped for — and then some.
From the second we arrived, we were made to feel right at home. The hospitality was genuinely warm and effortless, with every single person we met going above and beyond to make our stay comfortable and memorable.
Our room was stunning — beautifully set up, incredibly comfortable, and with views that made it hard to leave. You could tell a lot of care had gone into the design and detail.
One thing we didn’t expect was just how much incredible food there would be! Every meal was a treat — tasty, plentiful, and served with a smile. We definitely didn’t go hungry, and the variety meant every meal felt like a new experience.
Throughout our stay, there were little surprises that made everything even more special. It’s clear the team puts a lot of heart into making each guest feel looked after in their own way.
The game drives were out of this world. We were lucky enough to spot all of the Big Five (which was a bucket list dream), but even if we hadn’t, the experience would still have been just as powerful. Every drive brought something new — the scenery, the wildlife, the atmosphere. It’s something we’ll never forget.
We also want to give a special thanks to Adolf and Manuel — two brilliant guys who were not only easy to chat with but also incredibly knowledgeable. They made the whole experience even better with their insights and humour.
To sum it up, Kapama blew us away. Whether you’re planning a special trip or just looking to experience something truly unique, this place delivers on every level.
Thank you to the amazing team — you made our honeymoon something we’ll treasure forever.

- itsmel2 (10/5): Just Incredible - I cannot recommend Kapama Southern Camp highly enough!!
The property is super stylish with natural woods etc.
The staff cannot do enough for you!
I cannot eat in public and the staff discreetly made me a table outside my room.
The safaris were fantastic, we saw so many animals on one drive.
Special mention to Alect, Oupa and Thandi. Although all the staff were incredible.
Spend the extra and get a villa.
I will be back!
- joecJ8263AN (10/5): African Adventure - but very pampered - Kapama is a private, fenced game reserve of about 32,000 acres or 50 square miles. There is a tremendous amount of wildlife that can be seen on the game drives. We had seen the big five (lions, leopards, elephants, Cape buffalo, and rhinos) by the end of our second 3 hour game drive. We had the same driver/guide throughout our stay and everyone in our group of six thought he was excellent. The jeeps were comfortable, and when it got chilly (we were there late autumn) he brought out lap blankets and hot water bottles. There were two game drives/day in the early morning and late afternoon/evening. Each drive lasted 3 hours, with a rest break after 1 1/2 hours with coffee and pastries served in the mornings and cocktails/soft drinks and snacks in the evenings.
The sleeping accommodations were very nice, with private patios and very comfortable beds. There were two rooms per cabin. The meals were served in a beautiful open air dining room. The food was excellent and plentiful and the service was outstanding. There was a separate bar area where high tea was served in the afternoons before the game drive.
Overall, the experience was extremely enjoyable
- fromMiamiFlorida (10/5): Beautiful and luxurious but it is the staff make the experience incredible! - We stayed in a suite. It was beautiful and luxurious. Outdoor dipping pool - where animals came to drink daily! The staff here was incredible. Their friendliness and attentiveness was far beyond anything we could have hoped for. From the wait staff and cooks to the front desk to the cleaning staff that were in our rooms at least twice a day keeping everything stocked and tidy. Since this is a safari lodge the most important are the guides and trackers - they were amazing! We learned so much from them and saw amazing things. I can not recommend this enough. Stay here!
- shilu62 (10/5): Memorable Stay - Absolutely magical stay at Kapama! The lodge is pure luxury in the heart of the wild. Our game drives were unforgettable — we saw the Big Five and learned so much from our amazing guide and tracker. The room was stunning, with wildlife just outside our deck, and the food was top-notch every single day. Spa treatments were a dream too!
If you're looking for a once-in-a-lifetime safari with comfort, service, and scenery — Kapama is it.

- mollyhurstt (10/5): Greatest hospitality experience we have ever had - I cannot recommend Kapama enough. We stayed at Southern Camp Doyle our honeymoon and had the best time there. The staff went above and beyond to provide the best service to us. We loved the boma dinner and every meal we had was delicious with great options. The beautiful staff even sung and danced for us and popped a bottle of champagne to celebrate our honeymoon. Our waitress Beatrice, bar staff Rea and our Guide/Tracker Busami & Manuel did everything they could to ensure everything was perfect for us. The service at Southern Camp was 5 star! We even did the lions den sleep out and get to see under the stars and have a 5 star culinary experience. We also visited the spa which was such a luxurious experience and a must do while you visit! This all inclusive experience is exceptional, great drink options and available to you at anytime! If you’re visiting SA you must stay at Kapama! We cannot to wait to return, and will absolutely be recommending it to all of our friends and family!

The whole trip was just amazing.
Selbi picked us up from the airport. He is very knowledgeable and has a fantastic sense of humour. We all loved him on our safari. Trevor was also good on the look out for animals. Selbi and Trevor worked well as a team.
Our accommodation was outstanding. Very luxurious. Monkey's visited us at the pool. Antlers were everywhere.
The food was just amazing. We had special dietary requirements. The taste and presentation was outstanding.
The chef would come and speak to us everyday on our thoughts. The servers always checked if we were ok.
Kapama made us extremely welcome. They went above and beyond with everything.
I will definitely be going back in a few years.

The staff were wonderful and there was meticulous attention to detail to ensure each guest had a great stay. The spa was at a different location but it really didn’t matter as the staff organised a private driver to take me there and back, so it worked out fine.
