Guest Reviews
Súper agradecidas a Marlene! esperamos volver!
- Prem (7/5): Beautiful place but very bare bones and basic. - I liked the enclosed courtyard feel. It felt secure and homey. Bare bones. No handle towels, no bath mat, no way to control the water temperature in the shower. Breakfast time of 6:30 actually meant about 7:10 so there was a lot of waiting around.
- Jonnathan (9/5): Lindo y discreto hotel.
- Verified traveler (4/5): - Shower water temp beyond control. Bathroom is old and could be cleaner. A/C water dripping to the room floor all night. Room too dark, more light needed. It’s not a low price lodge, would be great if the owner can invest on some improvements. Kitchen lady is nice and friendly.
- Erin (10/5): Wonderful Costa Rican experience! - Marilynn was an amazing host, who willingly greeted us at 10pm, when we arrived. This place has a special, personal touch that you don’t get elsewhere. We borrowed a container to take food on our hikes. She provided anything we asked for and was very friendly and accommodating! The price was high for the location that isn’t located in the city. You need to have a rental or private transportation to get here. I would expect the price to be closer to $100 or less per room. However, she provides a full, healthy breakfast, tailored to your needs too.
- Alfia (7/5): Good family stay - Location and property Bathrooms
- Olaf (6/5): We expected more - Host was really nice and offered help wherever we needed it. We felt welcome 🙏 The appartment we had had nothing to do with the pictures in the booking ad. We had a room not in main house which was really gloomy and plain. One evening water did not work, after 30min is was back then. Breakfast was the most basic one we had on our travel, toast, marmelade, tea/coffee, that’s it.
- Imhoff (8/5): Very good -
- Fabian (7/5): Good -
- Gary (9/5): Marlene is very pleasant and helpful but no English. Challenging to communicate. -
- Karmen (8/5): - The owners and family were amazing and friendly to help! Rooms average but clean. Unfortunately we were expecting a normal restaurant per the website and that is not available unless a group is pre booked.
- Nashat Hamed (8/5): Difficult for people without car - Lovely staff and we have to ask for hot water when we need it.
- Melania (10/5): - Staff was really helpful and provided me all I needed, eventhough it was a last minute reservation. THANKS
- Verified traveler (8/5): - Situated in a local neighbourhood off the hwy. 30 minutes to San Antonio National Park. One large and comfortable room. Air con is off when you first arrive so the room is stuffy but once the AC is running for about 30 min room is comfortable. A large, glass window and door are secure but one must close drapes for privacy.
- Robert (10/5): Great place to stay - Great little place to stay about 10 to 15 out of Quepos. Very good breakfast, the owner and staff was very nice. Would recommend
- Debra (10/5): - Hostess was lovely. As well as the Room. 👍👍
- James (10/5): Great hidden gem - This place was a great choice. We had a great room, very friendly owner walked us around the whole property talking about the plants and facilities. The food was amazing as it was typical local fare. The owner even picked a ripe soursop from her onsite tree for us for breakfast.
- Monica (10/5): Great place - Great place, comfortable, clean and the staff is incredible. The owner Marlen what a women so kind and nice. We felt like at home. The manglar tour is superb a must see and live experience. Beach is not that close (not that far either) but still this place is worth the distance. We will come back we loved our stay.
- Verified traveler (10/5): Awesome location for Kayaking - Very Nice Family Run Hotel. Could not have asked for a nicer group of people running the hotel.
- sml (10/5): Awesome people and place, adventure abounds! - Arrived at 7:30 pm, greeted with great smiles and warm sincere staff! Very accommodating, very sweet, room clean, air conditioned, safe!
Best, went out for a 8:30 pm kayak! Amazing adventure, guide was happy to stay and accommodate!
- jose (10/5): “Aunt” Marlene - Kayak Lodge is a beautiful place, but what makes it truly special is the family that owns the place. They’re all warm, polite and extra nice, always willing to make sure you enjoy your stay. Marlene, the lady owner, makes the best Costa Rican breakfast and she goes the extra mile at making sure you are spoiled when serving it! You almost feel like going to visit an aunt you rarely get to see because of the distance, the kind that will have you go back home well-fed and with a wide smile across your face.
Plus: you can cook your own meals at the kitchen, if you like.
- Lisa (10/5): Kayak Lodge- Jr Suite - Stayed here with my husband and children (10 and 8). Booked because of the reviews that said there were monkeys in the area. Because we stayed during the green (rainy) season we were the only ones in the entire lodge. The suite was clean and spacious, beds were comfortable, Marlene and staff were so sweet. We woke up to monkeys right outside our bedroom every morning-- the kids loved it! The area was safe. Marlene gave us advice on where to buy groceries and places to eat. Our stay was excellent! We'd definitely stay again.
- Verified traveler (10/5): Lovely lodge - Wonderful service, enjoyed kayah trip right from hotel
- Amy (10/5): She goes the extra mile - A well maintained and lovingly attended to property with a genuinely happy and giving señora smiling and helping you with any questions or concerns. This hotel is a good choice if the moderate hotels at Manuel Antonio are full and you have transportation.
- Verified traveler (8/5): Rough start but happy ending - The hotel was all locked up when we got there. There was personal problems happening for the owners and our reservation was overlooked. We finally got things worked out and our group stayed the night and had the whole place to ourselves. The owner came in the morning and made us an amazing breakfast and offered us a free kayak tour to make up for the trouble. They did their best to make up for the initial troubles and the owner was very nice. Based on that I wouldn't hesitate to stay again
- christina (10/5): my stay at kayak - Kayak lodge was amazing. I loved this place. The owner and his staff were friendly and attentive.
- Verified traveler (10/5): Clean, comfortable hotel with kayaking - We enjoyed our stay here. The room was clean and comfortable, AC worked perfectly. There is a clean, deep pool that we found refreshing. We played fussball and generally found plenty of entertainment. The owner of the hotel was very helpful and kind. The mangrove tour was fun, informative, and we saw a mangrove eagle, tiger heron, kingfishers, and other beautiful birds. We had a couple of good dinners. I would recommend this hotel to anyone. My daughter loved it.
