• Beatriz (7/5): - La ubicación está muy bien (en frente de un parque divino) y dejan entrar perros, aunque bastante caro (€50) y ni un platito con agua te dan. El lugar muy cool, pero no tienen ni una cocinita, ni un refri ni nada. No es un hostal, es más bien un hotel con habitaciones compartidas El cuarto privado para cuatro personas era muy chico. Tienes el bote de basura casi en las narices, ni una sillita ni nada de privacidad si fuera compartido. El cuarto tenía cero ventilación y el aire no funcionaba muy bien. De los peores hostales en los que me he quedado, lo único que lo salva es su ubicación.

• Claudea (9/5): A decent hostel near public transport (and Amsterdam public transport is amazing) and opportunities for socialising. - I had a good stay at Generator Amsterdam for a few nights. The rooms were comfortable and mostly very clean, and the location was great with tram stops nearby and a lovely park right outside. There were plenty of opportunities to socialise if you wanted to meet people in the common areas. There was no common bathroom area with power sockets to dry my hair in the morning and I didn’t want to disturb the people still sleeping in the room.

• Ella (2/5): Very disappointing - We wanted to check in early but we had to wait one hour after the check-in started and didn’t even get any compensation for that. The room didn’t smell good and the beds were awful, hard and the beds squeaked by tiniest movement. Poor breakfast as well.

• Abella Morales (8/5): un buen lugar - esta fue mi primera vez en un hostal, me senti muy cómoda. Rente 1 cama de camarote de habitacion de 6 personas mixto. Todo el personal fue muy amable, con atención 24/7 en la recepción. La habitación era estrecha pero apenas suficiente. tenia bajo la cama un cajon con muy buen espacio para poner todas las cosas y se podia poner un candado (yo traje el mio). me gusto que la ducha era separada del sanitario y el lavamanos. la cama la entregan con ropa de cama limpia y doblada, uno debe extenderla, la cama estaba cómoda igual que la almohada, y ademas tenia cortina que permite tener mas privacidad, también en la cabecera hay un tomacorrinete y una luz. Una noche hubo una fiesta cerca del lobby, y aunque podia ver dese mi ventana toda la gente de fiesta, realmente el ruido que llegaba a la habitación era apenas el 10% entonces eso no afecto mi comodidad. igualmente se podia modificar los parámetros del aire acondicionado y estuve cómoda. El desayuno me pareció suficiente, con huevos revueltos, jamon, queso tajados, panes, y una maquina de café para elegir, también ofrecen granola y avena en hojuelas con leche o yogurt, y fruta, aunque solo 1 tipo de fruta. El hotel da la opción de rentar una bicicleta, me gusto la idea, pero finalmente no la rente. El lugar queda cerca del centro de amsterdam y en una bonita zona ademas, entonces me senti segura caminando en las calles, y pude llegar a pie a donde necesitaba, y también pude tomar el tram que esta cerca. Lo que no degustó fue que no habia papel para secarse las manos. la puerta de la ducha aunque estaba en buenas condiciones no llegaba hasta el suelo, entonces el piso del baño se mojaba. La habitación no tenia ventilación natural, solo aire acondicionado. No habia lugar para colgar la toalla y permitir que se secara bien. Tuve la suerte de tener la cama del primer nivel, no me hubiera gustado dormir en la litera del 3er nivel, probablemente por esa altura de 3 niveles, el espacio vertical era limitado, yo no podia sentarme bien en la cama, debía encorvarme un poco, le faltaban escasos 5-10 cm de altura. El candado del cajón/locker para guardar las pertenencias no lo dan gratis, debe alquilarse. en el baño tanto la ducha como el sanitario deberían poner alguna repisa o algo para poner los elementos de aseo y/o ropa que uno va a cambiarse, por suerte habia una silla afuéra, y yo la media al baño para apoyar mis cosas sin tener q dejarlas en el suelo. me habría gustado mayor variedad en frutas en el desayuno. en el 1er piso habia una biblioteca, el espacio era muy bueno, pero le falta ventilación e iluminación, las sillas estaban algunas muy desgastadas, podrían ofrecer algunas revistas o libros, y/o juegos de mesa, ya que no tiene absolutamente nada.

• Margherita (9/5): Good - The location of the property is really really good! Staff was very kind. I had been assigned upper bed and upon request, they managed to kindly assign me to a lower bed. The hostel is also very clean. Beds were also extremely comfortable and had curtains to not being disturbed by others. The hostel has also different room for socializing and offers also lockers to leave your luggage after checkout. Another plus point for me was that even though I was in a 6-ppl shared dorm, we were all women! That’s something that I definitely appreciate, or at least some kind of balance of genders as I had bad experiences in other hostels before. Not really a negative thing but, each room is equipped with private bathroom and shower, the only thing that I was not a big fan of is the fact that the sink is in the middle of the room and doesn’t have a door. So when somebody uses it everybody can hear/wakes up. Another flaw was for me that 110€ for a bed in a 6 people mix dorm is a bit too pricey, but that’s just my personal view…

I would say that Generator is a great place for college age folks. For the price point, Generator under delivered on every level. No towels at all, beds not made, smaller room than it seemed in photos. It’s easy to hear other guests above and around. I think Generator is severely overpriced.

• Toni (9/5): - We really enjoyed our stay at Generator Amsterdam. The building itself is amazing and being in a former university/science building gives the hostel a lot of character and a very unique atmosphere. The overall vibe is super cool and much more interesting than a typical hostel. The room was clean, the bed was comfortable and we especially appreciated how fresh and airy everything felt thanks to the excellent ventilation. Also, the late check-out option (€15 until 1 PM) was very convenient and definitely worth mentioning. For the price per night we expected a few more basic amenities to be included. It was surprising that towels cost an extra €7, and that the bed was not prepared on arrival, with the bedding simply left for guests to make themselves. There were also no shower amenities like shampoo or shower gel, so you really need to bring everything with you. None of this ruined our stay, but for this price point we expected a slightly more complete experience.

Café pago por fora deixa um pouco a desejar com poucas opções. A equipe que trabalha no hostel são super simpáticos e prestativos. A equipe da organização do hostel é praticamente todos brasileiros. Todos atenciosos e educados. Adorei o hostel. Só a localização que é um pouco mais afastada do centro, mais tem o transporte que passa muito próximo ou se estiver disposto a andar, também achei bem tranquilo para chegar.

• John (7/5): - The privacy the pods give. The prices. cafe and pretty much anything from a toothbrush or a towel else is extortionate. Think I paid like 5 euro for a bottle of coke.. not to mention on kings day it was open to anybody so id to queue to use the bathrooms and at one point, asked to pay 2 euro to use MY BATBROOMS. That guy was told to fk off and i used the piblic urinals outside instead.. but hey, if you like a local park filled with shady homeless characters off their heads, this is perfect.
• Tanja (8/5): Fine stay but bathroom issues🫣 - Nice location, comfortable pod, quiet and lively if you want it at the same time. Only two things I didn’t like: the guy working the reception is not very polite, I understand it can get busy but he is very indifferent and doesn’t answer questions and just pretends he doesn’t hear and talks to his coworkers. I had to pay for a towel two times because he forgot to give me one during check-in and when I came back to ask for it because I paid online after I booked, he said that I already took it and that if I want “another one” he couldn’t give it to me and that I have to pay a new one. I asked him to look at the cameras to see if he gave it to me but he dismissed me. The other thing was the bathrooms, the floor of the bathroom was always full of water, and I don’t mean wet because someone just showered I mean always full of at least 2-3 cm of water. And the toilets have stalls with absolutely no privacy, you could actually see through so many cracks in the door. So it was a bit uncomfortable.

• Candela (4/5): - The accommodation fulfilled its basic purpose. The rooms were clean, tidy, and in good condition. The experience with the staff was not good at all—they were not patient, didn’t pay much attention, and didn’t explain things clearly. Also, they charge for absolutely everything extra (such as hot water or shampoo), which was surprising to me since in other hostels I’ve stayed at this was included. While these charges are listed on the page, the overall experience in that sense feels quite basic.

• ILARIA (6/5): - L'edificio scolastico riadattato ad hotel/ostello è molto bello, in una location green molto bella nel parco annesso. A sole 3 fermate di tram sei al centro città. Tutto lo staff disponibile, gentile, giovane e dinamico. Molto, molto adatto a giovani, gruppi scolastici e coppie. Premetto che posso giudicare solo la stanza a noi assegnata (non so se ce ne sono altre diverse più adatte a famiglie): lo spazio vivibile era un pò ristretto (a mo' di cabina di nave), scomodo per muoversi in quattro persone, letti a castello molto vicini, assenza di un vero armadio sostituito da 4 cassettoni con ruote (comodi solo per riporre le valigie), al di sotto dei quali occorreva una pulizia ed un igiene un po' più scrupolosa, ci siamo un po' dovuti adattare ecco. Pertanto, molto spiacente, ma personalmente non risceglierei questa struttura per comfort e/o rapporto qualità/prezzo.

Struttura in sé molto bella, presenta un bar, un auditorium, un bar all'aperto, un locker per le valigie. L'unico consiglio se potete portatevi un asciugamano che affittarli costa un pochino, per il resto bellissimo soggiorno

Not so central, but very easy to go to the tourist side of town. The only thing I should mention is the lighting of the bedroom, too dark, made me oversleep a little hehe.

• Andrea (3/5): Precio vs calidad 👎🏻👎🏻👎🏻 - El edificio es bastante moderno y amplio, está pegado a un parque que hace que tenga una muy linda vista 1- A pesar del precio que pague, el hostal ni siquiera contaba con secador de pelo dentro de la habitación. 2- Me cobraron 5 euros por “early check in” faltaba una hora para mi checkin. 3- el colchón era una cosa súper deplorable donde te acostabas y sentías hasta los huesos. 4- en mi habitación (4) personas me colocaron con puros hombres 5- La primera noche no pude dormir porque en los pasillos había otros huéspedes gritando o corriendo.

• tiffany (6/5): - L’emplacement avec le parc derrière ! Le lit sur une espèce de plaque qui fait un bruit énorme à peine on se déplace dans le lit. La douche bouchée, impossible de prendre une douche sans que ça ne déborde partout !

• Chelsea (7/5): - The hotel is in a great location and we had a great view of the park. Beds were comfortable and staff were really nice. Our room was boiling hot and not way to control the air as it was controlled by the hotel and they couldn’t change it. We couldn’t open a window so it felt very claustrophobic

Niveau de propreté très middle: il restait des mouchoirs de l’ancien locataire dans le pod, la ventilation faisait du bruit. Les toilettes étaient bouchés et coulait sur le sol. Les bouches d’aération n’ont jamais été nettoyé et très sales. Mobiliers très vieux
• Roxana (9/5): Estadia en Amsterdam - El hostel era muy lindo y tiene las comodidades necesarias, cumplió con nuestras expectativas. El restaurant del hostel era muy comodo y tenia variedad de comida para pedir. Repetiria para un futuro viaje. El desayuno estaba bien, pero no tenia mucha variedad de productos y había mucha gente para servirse. La relacion precio/variedad del desayuno no me parecia acorde.

• Saito (8/5): It was excellent. If we have another chance to visit Amsterdam, we would definitely come back. - The location was exceptional. It required some getting used to the tram, but the location inside a beautiful park was more than one could hope for. The facilities were mostly adequate. Just two things. The washing basin was a little clogged, and when we filled it, it took a whole night to drain. I had a mind to report it to the staff. The other thing, just a worry of an old woman. The lamps on the desks were all rickety. One on the desk may have been missing a fastening piece? It wouldn’t stay in place.

• Ronan (10/5): A comfortable stay with everything you need at a great price - Great location that is only 10/15min cycle to the city centre. Plenty of public transport options as well. It’s in the most beautiful park which is always nice to have to walk around in. The staff are always so helpful and the facilities are always clean and well looked after. Nothing.

• liesbeth (5/5): - De locatie is prima ! Fietsverhuur ter plekke is handig en praktisch. Niet veel personeel spreekt Nederlands. Zo een kleine kamer en voor de prijs zouden handdoeken wel inbegrepen mogen zijn.

• aryahashemi05 (2/5): Nickel and Dime and horrible services - You guys need to stop charging to use every little thing. I understand towels but you guys shouldn't charge people for lockers as they are waiting on their rooms. Especially when I paid for an early check-in. Then I have to buy the lock for a locker? Very scam-like. I was in Amsterdam during King's Day and I know what King's Day is all about but I didn't know they would've used the bathrooms, OUR bathrooms of patrons for outsiders. So while they were charging outsiders to use our bathrooms, there was a line to just use a bathroom. Plus, it's King's Day so people are drunk and a mess in the bathrooms. The Women's room was so backed up, they had to start using the mens room, further backing up that one. This was a nightmare for people staying there. Then during the King's Day celebration, they had a block party celebration outside of the Hostel. It was cool, I wanted to just take a quick look for 5 mins. I walk out and check out it out. Cool. I go back to walk into the building, and I'm denied by the host. Mind you the Host is standing in-between the door and the doorway, so she could've let me just thru but she said no one is allowed in the front. But I'm paying? It doesn't matter she says. There were no signs saying, you cant re-enter. HOW DOES THAT NOT MATTER? I wasn't even drinking. Meanwhile you have drunk people pissing on the side of the hotel but I can't walk thru the front door, just to get to my bed. That I am paying for. She said I have to go thru the back, sounds easy? There is a giant block party, blocking the way. I have to somehow find my way thru all of those people? For me just to go back to my room? Why? Just open the door and let me in. It was idiotic. I didn't walk thru, I jumped off the side of the stairs. It was as thick of a crowd of a concert. Then my last night there, I'm woken up by a fire alarm. The pods in the basement got a fire alarm and we went upstairs and they said it was a false alarm and it only goes off in the basement first. So that was great, especially after the treatment of the host.

• Nicole (6/5): Good location/ building - overpriced for what on offer in comparison to other large cities I have visited - Location , decor No tea/ coffee making facilities in the room - only 2 towels given for 5 days only then will free change be given Wanted coffee at just after ten pm last night told they could not make this even though bar/ cafe closed at 11 pm

• Frances (7/5): Reasonable price with good facilities. - Staff were friendly and very helpful. Room felt clean and pretty spacious despite sharing it with 5 others. Lots of detail and thought into each bed with individual light, charging points and a curtain. Good cafe on site and right next to a beautiful park so well located. The showers were cold and still expensive for a shared hostel! I paid €95 per night no breakfast!!

• Yassine (1/5): 0%malo - Malo ¿Qué te gustó del alojamiento? Nada en particular. ¿Qué no te gustó del alojamiento? El trato fue malo y el personal no era amable ni dispuesto a ayudar. No había toallas de baño. Las sábanas estaban sucias y con manchas. El agua era muy poca y a veces no salía bien. La habitación tenía mal olor. En general, el servicio fue deficiente y no estaban dispuestos a hablar ni solucionar los problemas.
