Guest Reviews
- Yesenia (10/5): - muy buena atención
- Verified traveler (8/5): Ambiente simples e agradável - Pousada simples e pequena de apecto familiar e aconchegante. Wi-Fi e café da manhã incluídos. Gostei
- Jeanneth (10/5): Feels like home - We love our stay!! As always they have a great staff. Also the owner is always making sure all your needs are met. They are simply just great!! 😘😘
- Tom (8/5): Clean hotel with free breakfast - ...but not particularly close to anything of note.
- N257GWsandyc (6/5): Disappointing - We had a reservation and got in very late. They were nice enough to take us in so late and that was very appreciated. When we got into our room the first thing we noticed was floorboards loose and hanging off exposing wall and wires underneath. Went to go take a shower and there was no hot water. After being told they don't have hot water and some back & forth we somehow got hot water. Well when we woke up and turned on the shower it was ice cold again. I was told I could go to another room and take a shower since they just switched to solar heating for the water. The owner explained this to me. I didn't want to go to another room but also didn't want to take a cold shower. The owner walked off looking for a room I could use and guess what? She never came back! Real professional. So I had to take a cold shower. After hearing about the change to solar for the water we were told hot water wasn't available in all rooms so we were moved to another room. Nice gesture but very inconvenient.
The staff was friendly and tried to make up for our horrible first night/morning. The included breakfast was good and it was nice that they had options to choose from.
Hotel is cute and has potential. The unprofessional behavior of the owner though really bothered me. When I return to Managua I will not stay here again.
- rosilynawarren (10/5): Safe and comfortable - Delightful time. Helpful staff. Bilingual owner. Excellent breakfast. Meeting area! It was a joy to be in Nicaragua with such wonderful warm people. A guard on duty also made us feel safe. Our group continues to stay at this hotel which speaks volumes to our satisfaction
- sojournwithsara (10/5): Excellent Managua Accomidation - In searching for accomidation in Managua i had no idea where to start. I saw some previous good reviews so i decided to book La Posadita. I am so happy that i did. My friend and I recieved such excellent service starting just with an email! I got a ride from the airport with Camilo, who is just excellent, super informative about Nicaragua, has studied some in the US, which made communication so easy.
Our room was clean and just what we needed, two beds with a/c and a nice breakfast the next morning. The area is nice and quiet and near President Ortega's house, so the area feels very secure. There are a few restaurants nearby that are recommended, especially the steak house, if you are into meat.
Thanks for a lovely stay La Posadita, thanks Camilo for exceptional service. We really appreciated the friendliness in a new city.
- Tegan79 (10/5): Highly recommended - Incredible, helpful and informative owners! - We stayed at the Posadita on the first night of our arrival to Nicaragua. The hotel is clean, in a nice location and includes an excellent breakfast. The owners of the hotel went out of their way to help us out with information about the city and the country. We returned again the final day of our one month trip to Nicaragua to meet with the owner, Camilo for an afternoon tour of the political history of Nicaragua. He is so informative and explained the history in an interesting way, driving us to different sites around the city. I can't recommend this tour enough. We learned a lot and it was nice to spend an afternoon seeing Managua, otherwise we might not have taken the opportunity to see this city. Thank you, Camilo, for your patience, education and great sense of humour!
- OregonJohn (10/5): Small hotel in safe part of city (2 blocks from President Ortega's residence) - We were here just one night prior to our flight back to the US. The manager, Camilo, could not have been more helpful. Since he attended college in the US, he speaks perfect English and he gave us a great recommendation for what he called "Managua's best steakhouse". And since he was in the neighborhood, he even stopped by the restaurant and ended up driving us home! Well, I've never seen that kind of service on ANY trip I've taken! I highly recommend this hotel.
- alyssab77 (10/5): Perfect for your stay in Managua - I have traveled to Nicaragua several times with large groups and La Posadita remains my favorite place to stay in Managua. The owners and staff are very welcoming and hospitable, making us feel very at home in a new country. Many of the people I travel with have never left the U.S. or are traveling to Central America for the first time. It has a very family friendly vibe and I cannot wait until my next stay at La Posadita.
- 961claudial (10/5): Great little hotel - First of all, Managua is safe. You need to be careful, yes, but it is a safe city when careful. The owner of this hotel is bilingual, so she can help you with anything you need. She is very nice and very help. The staff could not be nicer. The breakfast was delicious. There is an indoor/outdoor lobby which was perfect because I chose a simple room which was small, but I was only there one night. The breakfast are is lovely. There is air conditioner and wifi. The price was cheap. What more could you ask for.
- padma11 (10/5): Lovely Hosts, Simple Yet Memorable - My spouse and I stayed for a day at this simple and wonderful bed and breakfast in Managua. Wish we had stayed for longer! Camilo the owner was warm and hospitable and took the time to share the rich history of Nicaragua. Also kindly dropped us at a wonderful restaurant that he suggested. The b and b is very central and close to great restaurants and the historic center and only 20 minutes from the airport.
Their staff are very attentive and took a lot of efforts to make us feel at home. Would like to go back to this b and b again and stay in Managua for longer!
- scottgI7217ZE (10/5): Quaint, friendly, truly Nicaraguan - We stay here every year on our way in and out for a mission trip up north. They will bend over backwards to make you feel welcome. Desayuno (breakfast) can be a fruit plate or traditional Nicaraguan (love them both). With both a/c and hot water (via widow-makers) this is a very comfortable stay that still is true Nicaragua. Highly recommended!
- 613maret (10/5): Perfect for Americans wanting a small push outside the comfort zone - We booked La Posadita de Bolonia for 2 nights while we acclimated to Nicaragua before traveling to San Juan del Sur for a language immersion program. Francisca was so kind and patient with our Spanish. (She'd be great at charades.) Ask about getting a tour of Managua with Camillo. He was a poli sci major and is very knowledgable and articulate (in English) about Nicaragua's complicated politics and relationship with the United States.
- KamilaD (10/5): Feels like home. - The reason why me and my friend have chosen La Posadita de Bolonia was the fact that it's located just short taxi drive away from Tica Bus station. As we've later found it's also next to president's residence with plenty of police/security around in quiet neighbourhood. The room we were given was massive with 2 double and 1 single bed with super comfortable pillows. An aircon worked well, the room was quiet and wifi was good too. I think the great highlight of La Posadita is it's owner and staff! On the day of arrival we were greeted by Franchesca. As her English was as good as our Spanish she's called an owner Sandra so I could discuss all remaining details with her in English. In the end we've managed to make conversation with Franchecsa using a mixture of sign language/phrase book/Google translate. She is a real gem! :) Also Sandra's son - Camillo was a big help to us. He's offered to drop us off at the car rental sharing some information (and tips) about Nicaragua along the way. As we've felt very welcomed we've decided to return there for another night before continuing our journey to Costa Rica.
- HelenaGuerra (2/5): Review on Room #7 - We stayed on room #7, across the entrance and it was an awful experience.
There is no curtain just vertical blinds. Some parts/pieces are missing. We could see the patio where guests hang out and light coming though all night. We had no privacy and no sleep.
The bathroom was dated and in need of maintenance. Shower head is electric and you have to touch it in order to get hot water.
Room fairly well cleaned.
Nice and helpful staff. Owner looks willing to improve. He was there to greet us at 4.30 am when we left to the airport.
Cab service was a bit problematic to schedule but the driver was punctual and professional ($20).
I do not recommend Managua, you need about 20 minutes to visit it. If you have to stay for the night, this hotel is very affordable (we paid $50) and it's located in a safe neighborhood, give a try to another room and maybe you'll have a better experience.
- joeycoleman (10/5): Nicaraguan hospitality at its finest! - My wife and I stayed two nights total at La Posadita: the night we flew into Nicaragua and the night before we left. It can be tough to decide where will be stress free, safe, and nice to stay in Managua before heading out to explore the country, and I can promise that this hotel is all the above. On top of it all, they surprised us with a flower petal decorated room for our honeymoon- so sweet!
I have to give incredible credit to Camillo who's family owns the hotel, for his outstanding service and hospitality he tirelessly bestows on all the guests. He personally drove us to restaurants, grocery stores, car rentals, and the airport. He introduced us to locals and set us up with friends throughout the country. He is extremely professional, yet he manages to build a true friendship at the same time. Truly a remarkable person and he makes your stay a small piece of home.
The hotel is cozy and clean, and breakfast was great. Any help you need with anything will be gladly provided, and there is no one better to go to for advice or knowledge all things Nicaragua.
My wife and I both highly recommend this hotel for your stop in Managua, and be sure to send Camillo our regards!

- yuriv268 (10/5): Wanna feel at home... away from home? - (Family-owned) This cozy and welcoming B&B is your best choice when traveling to Nicaragua. They have airport pickup/dropoff (fee), A/C & hot water, deliscious homemade breakfast and, best of all FREE WIFI. In addition, if you don't wanna go out for dinner, ask the attending about their dinner options. Personnel is extremely friendly, accomodating and trustworthy. Sandra, the owner, is at the hotel almost everyday in the mornings so say HI :) The area is safe 24/7. They also collaborate with great tour companies so you will get the best tours of Nicarauga
- Tomcat7036 (10/5): Clean & quiet - I stayed here because it was close to Vision Mundial through which I was visiting my sponsored child. The location was close to whatever you needed. Very safe area & very quiet with no traffic. The rooms were very clean with A/C & hot showers. The complimentary breakfast was excellent with fresh fruit, coffee, tea, beans & rice, toast & eggs to order. And as I remember cereal.
- yuriv268 (10/5): Everything you need in Managua - Staying here is like being at home!!! This is a family-own B&B, which means you'll be treated like family ;) This is one of the most affordable place in Managua. In addition, its location may be one of the safest in Managua because the hotel is literally 3 blocks from the Presidents main residence... security 24/7, 365 days :)
Staff (Fransisca & Hilda) is extremely helpful & friendly; always going above and beyond to satisfy your needs. Sandra (owner) is always available, in case you have additional needs... She's very reliable and professional, with many years of hotel management experience.
I stayed here with a friend (his first time in Nicaragua) and he absolutely loved it and will come back again... He fell in love with the cook and her Huevos Rancheros :) Breakfast is delicious and made fresh. There are a couple of eateries walking distance from the hotel... very affordable and authentic Nicaraguan cooking.
... and to be fair about the stolen money or valuables, i don't leave anything that may get stolen there or HERE in the USA... just be responsible! if you need to keep something safe, give it to the receptionist for safekeeping til you return. AND please always consider tipping the housekeepers!!!
- bouchardjm (10/5): A gem of a small hotel in Managua - We like to stay where the locals stay when we travel, so this hotel suited us just fine. It is small, quite private, yet is only a few blocks from a major bus station (Tica Bus). The garden cafe was where they served our (free) breakfast, cooked to order - pancakes, "gallo pinto" (Nicaragua version of riceandbeans). eggs, or whatever you wanted. The staff is very friendly and helpful, assisted us in booking our tours, and in finding our way about the city. They even did some laundry for us, and charged very little. No problems with the wifi, and the owner was personable and visits the hotel every day.
I'd like to comment on the previous review - NEVER leave anything valuable in your room in Central America, and if you must do so, make sure it is well hidden. The chambermaids come from really poor families, and I suppose the temptation of money in the room is very great. And DON'T forget to leave a tip - a dollar (or equivalent in local currency) per day stayed means a LOT to these ladies, many of whom are single mothers.
- 617FrancescoM (6/5): Good, yet untrustworthy - We stayed for four nights in a job trip. The service and the personnel are very friendly and always at your disposal with a good smile on their face at all time. Unfortunately, we had a considerable amount of money stolen from the room directly. In dealing with the situation we spoke with Sandra, the owner, and she asked us to check better if we misplaced the money; since the first conversation was nice and she committed to get us back the amount, we did so. We did so as well because we understand that the burden would fall onto the personnel, that averagely had not much income possibilities. Unfortunately at next meeting agreed with her to settled the situation, she didn´t show up (totally unprofessionally) and by phone she changed her argument, saying that, first, it was irresponsible from us to leave money in the room (how so???), and second, that she couldn´t not take any responsability over the issue.
I think that any owner may manage this kind of situations in different ways, yet we uncomfortably had to face an array of lies, and a completely untrustworthy owner. So, if you go to this hotel, please take notice that the owner consider that you should not leave valuable issues in the room, because they might be stolen....
- laurar584 (8/5): A comfortable night - I stayed for only one night, and had to catch the Tica bus before breakfast was served, but the rooms were clean and comfortable and the staff very helpful. They set up my very early morning taxi to the Tica bus depot (which was very close) with a great taxi driver.
- Nicoyanat (10/5): Clean, great breakfast and helpful staff! - We spent a few nights at La Posadia de Bolonia and we were very happy with our time there. The staff was very friendly and helpful. The owner, Sandra, was great! She speaks English as well, which is helpful. The breakfast was delicious and the rooms were really clean. There is free wi-fi access, too. Definitely a great place to stay!
