Guest Reviews
- Judy (8/5): - No spaces in front of room. We appreciated the staff finding us chamomile tea.
- David (8/5): - Pet friendly. Staff was very friendly
- Melba (10/5): - Appears safe, quiet, what we need for overnight.
- Jill (10/5): Great little gem - Great little spot. Everything was in new condition, clean and convenient. Would return
- Ronald (8/5): - Hotel is good place to stay if you are looking for a clean, basic place to stay while passing through the area. The hotel is small, so parking is a little tight. The only downside was that the smokers sit in front of their rooms doing their thing, so there was quite a nasty stench whenever I stepped outside.
- Daniel (8/5): - Convenience and price.
- Teresa (8/5): - We always stay here on out trips to WV. The only issue is with the beds. They are hard and not comfortable at all.
- Stan (10/5): - pleasant atmosphere, neat and tidy, easy to get from car to room.
could have used another hand towel or two and additional washcloth..
- Kevin (10/5): Awesome Value - It was awesome
- Grant (10/5): - Room was very clean and comfortable. Staff was friendly and helpful. Location is convenient to main roadways and dining options.
- Larry (6/5): - It was quiet, clean
- Matt (8/5): - Nice rooms.
- Brian (10/5): GREAT value - This was an amazing experience. I took a chance and paid a lower fee for a locally owned motel. It was fantastic. Very clean, very quiet and great price.
- Don (10/5): - OK place to stay overnight while traveling.
- Jon (10/5): - Wasn't expensive. Rooms were refurbished. Big refrigerator for a motel. Best setup I've seen in a hotel/motel for electrical plugs and USB plugs.
- Mary (8/5): Traveling - Traveling through and this location worked for me.
- Marjorie (10/5): - Great, clean, inexpensive, family motel. Staff is amazing and very accommodating. Many food options within walking distance. I highly recommend and would definitely stay there again.
- Jon (10/5): - Queen bed is comfortable. Motel is close to lots of dining choices. Price of room is great.
- Laura (10/5): - The bed was very comfortable and the room neat and clean.
- Verified traveler (10/5): - The staff is friendly and has patience to deal with my issue. The room is clean.
- Pamella (6/5): - It was one of the cleanest rooms I’ve ever stayed in. They definitely tried to create a comfortable room. But, I could feel every spring in the bed and there wasn’t enough open parking. It seemed like they stored vehicles in the tiny parking lot and I didn’t feel safe in the neighborhood. The room next to me was loudly under construction until 9:30 pm.
- Kelly (10/5): A+ Little motel - Great little hotel. Was a lot nicer for what we expected. Staff were friendly. Room was clean. Close to bars and dining. Will definitely be back.
- Jeffrey (10/5): - First it is a motel, not a hotel. So it is not fancy.
But honestly it would rank higher than a number of hotels in the same $100 per night price range. Room looked fairly modern and was very very clean. It had a fridge and a microwave and a TV with a large number of channels. Fast internet. They provided a nice welcome book with information about the area. Checking and check out were easy. Plenty of towels and soaps and shampoos in the room. Cannot say a bad thing about it. For the price and convenience it was awesome.
- Caitlin (8/5): - Very comfortable beds
- Karla (10/5): - This place was exactly what I was looking for I was traveling and need a place to sleep overnight. It was nothing fancy but it was super clean wonderful customer service I could not have been happier and the price was great we'll stay again do not stay in Beckley come on down to Princeton it's worth a drive and most of the Beckley hotels the staff are so rude. But the staff here was excellent
- Andrea (4/5): - The reviews rave about this place I guess because it was renovated recently, but it's still an old motel with paper thin walls. And they forgot to update the mattresses. I didn't sleep well, in part because of the bed and because it was so humid. The HVAC unit didn't seem to keep up, and at one point got stuck on heat and wouldn't turn off. Then I could hear someone in the next room talking in his sleep throughout the night...then I heard the traffic on the highway pick up at 5am. It was clean though.
- Marlene (10/5): - Great place to stay. Rooms were recently remodeled. Within walking distance of several restaurants.
- Liberty (2/5): - Wasbt even there 10 minutes, had change of plans and the owner would not refund my money. It might be newly remodeled but it was still sunpar.
- Bryan (10/5): Great place! - Amazing remodel. So well done. So clean, so safe. Great little location, convenient and close to restaurants, too.
- Deborah (10/5): - This small mom & pop motel was very clean and had nicely remodeled rooms. Everything in the room worked as it should. It was quiet at night and the office lady was friendly. The dog fee is reasonable--$20. We'll definitely stay here again!
- John (10/5): Stop over - On way to S. Carolina. Room clean, quiet and check in was quick and woman who worked there was so friendly.
- James (8/5): - Nice and clean
- Michelle (10/5): - Clean. Very friendly
- Mike (8/5): - Clean and comfortable older place that has been nicely renovated.
- Tim (10/5): Clean and affordable ! - Clean and affordable ! Convenient to highway ! We'll be back !
- Charles (10/5): - The motel was a good value.
- Sonja (8/5): - Nice area
- Gordon (6/5): - Ok for a stop over, it is outdated, no breakfast but restaurant and gas stations were close
- Linda (8/5): - Good room for the money and a place to sleep. Walls very thin. Lots of noise initially, but it did quite down. I would stay here again.
- Matthew (10/5): - Nice place to stay at a great price. Will definitely stay there again.
- JOHN M. (Mike) (8/5): Florida trip - Nice no frills hotel, clean room at a fair price.
- Verified traveler (4/5): One night. Never again - Worn out mattress. Squeaky springs. Stains on the rug as if a dog went to the bathroom on it. It just felt gross inside. Plenty of road noise and a very loud room heater. I chose this because of the high overall ratings. I really can't imagine someone giving this a 10/10 or even 8/10. Guess you can't trust the reviews.
- Lee (8/5): - Convenient easy access and economical suited our traveling
- Deborah (10/5): - Price is a positive. We were cold during the night.
- Alfred (10/5): Single night to stay. - It was clean, not a lot of luxury. Very good for the price.
- Randy (6/5): - Clean, quiet and cheap. After being on the road for 10 hours, what else does one need.
- Martin (10/5): - Nothing fancy, but clean, tidy and nicely furnished. Close to a variety of restaurants.
Would definitely stay again!
- robert (10/5): - Easy, clean and accessible to highway, and food options.
- Angela (10/5): - We were totally impressed with the Turnpike Motel! It is an old school motel like from my childhood that has been completely refurbished to a high standard. Our room was clean and spacious and modern with new flooring and bathroom. There are countless dining options nearby. For a one night stopover, it was just what we needed. We are fans of the old motels and have never seen one renovated like this. Highly recommend!
- Brian (10/5): - Very clean Very convenient for food options. Nice little bar that you can walk to. Great value.
- Jeff (10/5): A comfortable stay - I took a chance on this motel based on current reviews. My wife and I were not disappointed. The beds were clean and very comfortable. My wife sad she would stay there again and she is hard to please!!!
- Sherri (10/5): - There is nothing I don’t like about turnpike motel. It is clean, comfortable, safe and inexpensive. I’ve been here multiple times and it’s always been a pleasure to stay. For me, when I travel this way, the turnpike motel is a staple.
- Verified traveler (10/5): - For the price it was an excellent bargain. We would stay again.
- Verified traveler (8/5): Clean and reasonable - Nice and clean; pretty good value for your money. Easy access from highway.
- denise (8/5): - Perfect for the price
- Katherine (10/5): - Very clean. Breed bottled well lit
- Debra (10/5): - helpful friendly owner, would be nice to have instructions on the tv, as it was Roku only. Nice clean motel. close to restaurants.
- Brian (10/5): - The property is very nice, excellent value for the money it has all you need for a stay.it now the second stay and are satisfied.
- Margaret (8/5): - The only problem I had with this room is that there was a constant beeping. I couldn’t sleep and found it was an extension cord that had four items connected. I unplugged it - luckily I was done with the tv, the fridge and two other things!!
- Joy (10/5): - This is a small "mom & pop" property. It was a breath of fresh air after staying in several chain hotels for several nights while on a two week road trip. It was very clean and the staff was friendly and helpful. Would definitely stay here again if in the area.
- Julie (8/5): - I was surprised how quiet the room was considering it was close to the road. Parking was a little tight because of some larger vehicles in the parking lot. I liked the large mini fridge with freezer section. Very nice for the price for one night.
- Elisa (10/5): - Very nice renovations, we stayed in the family room which had two TVs, two beds and a pull out couch. Plenty of room, clean and a great price.
- Kirt (10/5): - nice
- William (10/5): Clean and a great value - This is a reasonably priced Mom and Pop motel that is very well kept and very clean. We are completely satisfied and will definitely come back anytime we are in this area
- Laura (8/5): Clean and Consistent - Nothing fancy here, but clean and well- equipped. Friendly staff. A great deal for the cost. Pet friendly. We’ve been here multiple times and it’s consistently a pleasant place to stay.
- Ronald (10/5): - If you are looking for a place to spend the night while passing through, this is a great choice. It is on one of the busier streets in town, so about 6 AM trucks started driving by, but otherwise it was fairly quiet. The only other issue is that outlets for charging your electronics are scarce.
- Yvonne (10/5): - Family owned and in the process of renovating the rooms. We stayed in a renovated room traveling south and in an old room traveling north. The renovated rooms are really nice and very clean. (No carpet)
- James (10/5): - Best value
- Verified traveler (10/5): Will stay again - It was great!
- Jason (10/5): - Cozy little hotel room. Different food options in the area hotel is right next to the Shoneys and Captain D
- Lelah (10/5): - Very clean and affordable. Close to dining & Walmart. Will definitely stay here again. Small business owners and very nice.
- Marshall (10/5): - Very friendly service, clean and affordable
- Melissa (10/5): - Newly renovated rooms, clean and large. Comfy beds. Near a variety of fast food and other restaurants, close to major road. A nice surprise.
- Tommy (10/5): Great Stay - Fantastic stay at the Turnpike! Great room for very little money!
- Julie (10/5): - Very friendly and clean
- Elio (10/5): - Easy access to interstate
- Nicole (8/5): - Staff was very friendly and helpful with suggestions on places to eat. Only issue was controlling the volume on the tv but that was not a big deal. Place was clean and very convenient to everything for a quick night’s stop. Definitely recommend for the price
- Julia (10/5): - The staff was friendly and the room and bathroom were clean. Nice hot shower with great water pressure! I would definitely stay here again!
- Rhonda (10/5): - The room was very clean and neat. The bed was comfortable. The staff was friendly. Nothing fancy but it was clean and comfortable. I would stay here again.
- Charles (10/5): Great overnight Hotel - Great place to stay for a quick overnight on your way South. Owners seem to care. The rooms are recently renovated, clean and easy to get off turnpike and back on in the morning.
- Kathy (10/5): - I was scared what it would be like for a cheaper property than we are used to. For reference, we usually stay at a comfort inn or similar type hotel. The bathroom was as good, vinyl floors helped with cleanliness. The only thing I wasn’t impressed with was the bed. We were supposed to have a queen pillow top. It was a full with inner springs. It wasn’t great but was ok for the price of the hotel. I didn’t roll towards the middle anyway.
- Michael (8/5): - Good for a quick overnight and if your expectations are not too high.
- Kirt (10/5): - Staff was great
- CHRIS (8/5): 1 night stay - Quick and easy to get to the motel. Room was clean with no issues during our stay.
- Tracie (10/5): - Nice spot for a quick over night. Good priced!
- Patricia (8/5): Quick Overnight - Just stayed for a quick overnight stopover. Was good. Got checked in pretty quick. Convenient to highway, restaurants
- Sharon (10/5): - This is a great little motel that has been renovated. We traveled with our two small dogs which has lead us to many subquality rooms. We were pleasantly surprised. Very friendly staff. The price was extremely reasonable.
- Melissa (10/5): - We stayed overnight on our way to Myrtle Beach. The front desk staff was very friendly and very nice. The room was very clean and the beds were very comfortable. We enjoyed our stay and will definitely be back on our next trip.
- Tracy (10/5): - The staff was very helpful and accommodating, it was dog-friendly, and was a great place to crash for a night's sleep en route. Staff went over and above!
- Verified traveler (4/5): - The room was clean, the staff was attentive and helpful. Lots of noise and light. Towels were not very thick or absorbent. For the price, I expected more.
- Laura (10/5): Great value - Great value for the price. Clean, friendly people, and a nice room. Would stay again.
- Kelly (10/5): - What an amazing find!! Clean, cozy and cheap - a truly great experience!
- Kate (8/5): - Clean, convenient to food. Dated.
- TJ (10/5): - Great place to stay when visiting Concord University. Restaurants very close by, clean rooms, great hosts.
- Steven (10/5): - Friendly, helpful staff person at the desk. Clean, updated room. Fair price. The mattresses in my room were not the newest, but I still slept okay.
- Robert (2/5): Smells and dirty - Dirty, smells bad. Definitely not worth the price. It’s on a busy street so lots of road noise. Thin towels horrible bed. Old furniture. Water stained ceilings, NO SECURITY door lock.
- Martin (10/5): 1 Night stopover. - Check in was seamless. Room was very clean and comfortable. Many restaurants in immediate area. Dollys Diner is a neighborhood gem. Great value for your money. Would stay again.
- Susan (10/5): - Very clean, easy on and off, friendly folks
- Taya (10/5): - My family enjoyed a nice weekend at this motel. The staff was super helpful and always available, and our room was cleaned up nicely upon arrival and during our stay. My only real complaint is the ability to hear a lot of outside noises/commotion from the room, but it may have been because I'm not used to sleeping in such a busy environment. Parking is limited so it's helpful not to have more than 1 vehicle per family at the motel. I will definitely consider this motel in the future!
- Verified traveler (10/5): - We had a grear stay. Easy and friendly check in. Cute renovations. Clean. Nothing against the hotel, but we are light sleepers and we could here traffic, so we plan to bring an even louder fan next go around haha
