- Julie (10/5): - We stayed in the Barn. The facility is just across the road from the main hotel. We found the room exceptionally clean, cosy, modern and a comfortable bed. Breakfast was superb. Evening meal was great too. Cannot fault it!

Service was spot on with helpful and enthusiastic staff. My favourite was plentiful Black Pudding available for breakfast - breakfast heaven.

- Mal (10/5): Impressive - Well impressed with the Inn overall but particularly the room which was spacious and fitted out with the best linen, bed, room and bathroom furniture. The best ingredients for the food too. Ideal location for the multiple walks in the area. To be recommended.

- Colin (6/5): - Expensive however great location . Banged head on sloping ceiling every time when getting in/out of bed and judging by the marks on the ceiling lots of people had . Served Luke warm burger , did mention it was offered to takes it back which would have overcooked it and burnt the cheese we had been told that there were no more burgers , offered free drink declined as sat there with full drinks , mentioned this when went to the bar to pay , paid the bill after explaining the burgers we’re Luke warm then discovered we had been charged service charge without informing us for such a poor quality expensive meal , service charge is voluntary not mandatory, don’t mind paying when a good experience, cancelled the booking for the next evening
- Wendy (8/5): - Pub and Barn were lovely. We had a barn room and it was small but beautifully appointed. The coffee machine was a real bonus as was the homemade shortbread. The velux window was a bit of a challenge to open and close. Breakfast was very nice with really friendly helpful staff, checkout was also friendly and straightforward. This was in contrast to check in, (e.g. we were told they didn't want us mithering the cleaning staff, as if we would) lunch and evening meal. The food was nice enough but my partner remarked that the staff were like automatons in that they said the appropriate things as though they were reading off a card but seemed irritated that we were there.

- Helen (8/5): - Such a beautiful spot to have a pub/ hotel. The staff are friendly and polite and the food delicious. My only dislike was that even though we didn’t have a dog with us. Our room had clearly been used by someone who had a dog with them previously. The rooms could do with a paint in places and there were some huge cobwebs on the ceiling. We were greeted on arrival with a used earplug on the floor. The rooms just need a bit of TLC and a good thorough top to bottom clean especially if you are allowing dogs in there.

- louise (10/5): A little piece of heaven - 10 out of 10 there was nothing you could fault. The area is amazing with beautiful scenery. The hotel is stunning. Upon arrival the staff were warm and friendly and this continued through the whole weekend. The room was huge with a massive bed. Clean and a great welcome tray with drinks and biscuits water and more. The shower was amazing overhead shower and the cleanliness perfect. The food is tasty and plentiful piping hot and delicious. Breakfast was one of the best we have ever had. Couldn't wish for more from the staff and accommodation.

- RICHARD (6/5): Great place, but poor dinner - Room 11 was superb. The evening meal was a big let down. The duck was very over done and the steak and kidney pie contained very little steak! I was looking forward to the cheese selection, but there was so little cheese, it didn't surprise me that you served small biscuits! There were two tiny slivers of cheese on the plate. I really felt cheated by the cost given such a small amount! The breakfast was very good..a welcome meal after such a skimpy dinner.

- Mr d (8/5): great location, disappointing accommodation - sorted our luggage on arrival around 10.30 allowing us to walk all day. check in on return quick & efficient but room disappointing small & cramped. shower door fell off on second morning and to get the correct shower temperature it was necessary to run the washbasin hot tap whilst showering. nowhere to store cases and little room for toiletries in bathroom. great location and food but disappointing accommodation

The sights and walks are stupendous--there are steep walks and near flat walks along the river and some through stone walled grass fields with lots of sheep. The food at the Lister was excellent and we had meals in the morning, midday and evening. Great selection of real ales. Very attentive and engaging staff.

- Carolyn (8/5): A lovely time. - I had a lovely stay at the Listers Arms. The location was ideal for walking to the cove and further on the Pennine Way. The food was excellent both at breakfast and in the evening. The room was maybe a little tired and there were some minor cleanliness issues around the shower tray. These would not prevent me from a return visit. The quality, efficiency and friendliness of the staff could not be faulted and the whole team at the inn should be congratulated.

- Katherine (6/5): - Mattress in the room I had was worn, and for me, uncomfortable. To travel to Malham you need a car. I wanted to travel a couple miles away and the manager said I would have to call a taxi from Skipton. Fortunately, a staff member reminded her (the manager) about the mid morning bus I could catch. Without that input I would have had to spend closer to 30 pounds on the taxi versus the 2 pounds on the bus. Seems like information the property manager should have provided to me. If that staff member had not been within earshot I would have had to pay far more. The inclusive breakfast buffet was nice but found the evening pub meal average, though pub setting is cosy.

Our room was comfortable and well appointed, and the food at the pub and restaurant were as good as it gets. It was the most delicious breakfast and dinner we experienced during our ten day British journey. And nothing beats the trails and scenery of the Dales National Forest! My goal is to return one day and stay a while.

- Bernadette (6/5): Busy pub atmosphere - Arriving on one of the busiest afternoons of the season did not stop us receiving a warm welcome from the bar staff. Our bedrooms labelled as superior were fine, if a little sparsely furnished but really comfortable bed. Dinner was great and good value, very much a pub meal set up which was exactly what we wanted. My main issue was the noise of a fan or extractor that kept me awake for 2-3 hours. It was like a washing machine on its spin setting, all night! In the morning no-one could explain the sound and suggested it might be the youth hostel next door. Not overly impressed, but the location and setting are lovely. It does get very busy so it’s not an intimate setting but prime location for the stunningly beautiful views and walks.

Lovely beer garden, however needs a good tidy up to remove cigarette ends, old broken furniture, bird dirt on tables and weeds. Could do with hanging baskets and plants on tables.

- Graham (10/5): Lovely location, lovely hotel, lovely staff - Well, first the location. This hotel is in Malham - in the centre of some of the finest walking country (looks pretty good from a car too, actually) you could imagine. Marvellous walks, quite literally, on your doorstep. Now the hotel. Lovely. Very comfortable, good food, beer and wine (I tried them all). Lastly, but definitely not leastly, the staff. I've stayed in quite a few different places and it's always the staff that make the difference between the merely good, and the exceptional hotels. Staff at the Lister Arms were, without exception, lovely. They were very welcoming and nothing was too much trouble. All in all, this is a great place to stay to explore a wonderful part of the country.

- Simon (10/5): Great stay and staff but could make small change - The staff and the overall experience was excellent. The only small issue - although I don't wish to take away from the excellent staff - is that the staff (or some of them) leave through the back patio garden area after the pub closes. This is guaranteed to wake you up as they can be noisy. If they left through the front entrance (or left really quietly), the problem would be solved. The hotel is excellent in every other way.

- Gwyn (10/5): - It's a nice pub that is part of the Thwaites chain. Menu doesn't cater well for Vegetarians and not at all for Vegans. Disappointing to see them burning coal on the fire in July, really thoughtless. Room was lovely though

- Tom (10/5): - Very nice hotel in a superb location . It was clean , cosy and relaxing. The staff were attentive ,helpful and welcoming throughout the stay, food was really good and our room was excellent being spacious, well furnished and comfortable. The Lister arms is definitely worth a revisit. The only slight issue was hotel parking a bit hit and miss on an evening but was probably due to the place’s popularity for meals.
- Andrew (10/5): Perfect stay - Beautiful, comfortable and cosy hotel/pub. Perfect place to go back to after a stunning walk in Malhamdale. The food was good, service excellent and the room very comfortable. Breakfast was excellent after a perfect nights sleep in a super king bed! Perfect stay, thank you.
- Timothy (10/5): Lister Arms we will be back - Great stay for 3 night break for our wedding anniversary. Lovely pub with comfortable and warm clean room. Staff very helpful especially Tim who looked after us so well at breakfast. The breakfast was the best we have had anywhere. We ate all 3 nights for dinner and enjoyed everything we had. Enjoyed all the walks in the area. We cannot wait to return.

- James (10/5): Equivalent standard to a very good hotel - Very clean, a warm welcome and friendly, attentive service. Bar and dining area were cozy and atmospheric. Menu options were varied and the food was freshly cooked and delicious. We wished we had stayed here another night in contrast to the next hotel on our itinerary, which was a 4* chain hotel. Wonderful experience, highly recommended and will definitely visit again.
- PETER (10/5): Yorkshire gem - This is a real gem. We arrived exhausted in the dark and rain after a long journey and a final leg following a narrow winding road road. The warmth of the reception and the buzz in the entrance made us relax immediately. The staff could not have been more helpful. The room was impeccably clean, warm and attractively furnished with everything we needed. The restaurant was of excellent quality with lovely food at dinner and breakfast. Great service.
- Richard (8/5): - A beautiful property in a stunning location. Staff were very friendly and helpful. Menu in the restaurant is excellent and varied. Stayed in 2 different rooms as we decided to extend our stay by an extra night. On the first 3 nights we had an amazing room in the new wing. On our last night we had a very comfortable room above the pub. Both rooms spacious and comfortable. The only minor complaint was that wash cloths were not provided and there were a few cobwebs.
- Kathy (10/5): Perfect night away - Just an amazing stay. We have 2 Standard Poodles and they were welcomed as much as us. The food was great and the staff very friendly and kind. We thoroughly enjoyed our stay and will be back
