- Alison (8/5): Settle for work. - The bedroom was fabulous, very stylish, very comfortable and tv at the correct height for your neck.
I dined in the restaurant and that was also amazing as I had a 3 course meal and it was delicious and so well presented.
The choice of beers in the bar, local too. No more dark chocolate desserts on the menu.
- HENDERSON (8/5): - Comfortable room, friendly staff, good food & great location.
- Martin (9/5): Birthday stay - The friendly staff Nothing
- Pamela (9/5): -
- S. (10/5): -
- Diane (10/5): Lovely welcoming place to stay overnight for a work trip. - Lovely country pub feel which is what we were looking for Nothing we didn’t like I would have preferred vegetarian sausages as opposed to vegetable sausages on the vegetarian breakfast.
- Cathy (10/5): Wonderful place to stay, location is wonderful and the food is superb. - Location was superb, rooms were beautifully decorated. Breakfast was one of the best I have ever had. Nothing
- michael (10/5): Very good quality without pretentions - Very good, good quality well prepared Maybe the breakfast service could have been faster, but it didn't affect my enjoyment
- Richard (10/5): -
- Linda (9/5): Very good - Staff were very helpful and personable Everything was good, nothing to really report except that we fealt it was a bit pricey. But typical country hotel and friendly in every way
- Perfect (8/5): - Very comfortable Shower was very poor
- Elizabeth (8/5): - A lovely place with pleasant staff. My only grumble, not a complaint as it's personal to me, is I didn't find the pillows right. 2 pillows was too high, but 1 wasn't high enough. So I didn't sleep very well.
- Neil (10/5): Great all round experience 👍 - Great location, nice beer, nice food, nice breakfast, friendly staff Nothing
- Susan (9/5): Great place if attending a concert at Victoria Hall as only 500 yds away. - Excellent standard of room with White Company toileteries Due to location no parking so have to walk from a car park where you can find a space. Also have to be back to car before 9am either to leave or feed the parking machine.
- Rebecca (9/5): -
- Karen (10/5): Clean, comfortable, ideal location -
- Catherine (10/5): Excellent location, great breakfast, lovely staff. - Room was lovely, clean, quiet, comfortable. Breakfast was excellent with a wide choice of cooked options. Staff were friendly and helpful as always.
- Writearound (9/5): Great Place to Stay in Settle - Very central, near good restaurants. Staff very pleasant and helpful. Room comfy and well furnished and decorated. Everything is fine , nothing to complain about at all.
Well did not have a car so don't know about parking. Didn't see a car park.

- Helena (10/5): Great, central location - Beautiful room, very clean and comfortable. The breakfast choices were more varied than the usual- my eggs Benedict was very good.
- Frances Jane (9/5): well Looked after in a fabulous location - Breakfast sausages are the best. The breakfast sets you up for the day, but do try the sausages. comfortable bed, excellent coffee in the room - lavazza pods, thanks for the fudge. The breakfast coffee was not very tasty, the plunger pots could be more robust. I stuck with my in room coffee.
- Jane (9/5): -
- Elka (10/5): Great pub in a fantastic town - Great pub with rooms. Fantastic staff, very welcoming. Nothing
- Philip (8/5): Interesting and welcoming hotel with good features - slightly overpriced in tourist trade location - Friendly welcome and character building. Well furnished with quality finishes . Thoughtful touches in rooms with reading materials and good quality toileteries. Breakfast excellent. Shower hose leaked inundating bathroom. Bed VERY soft - not to my taste. Could have done without upselling at dinner - when ordering mushroom pasta was asked "do you want chicken with that?"
- Bluto (8/5): Friendly and warm welcome. Good food/drink. Pity about the noise from traffic and next door room. - Friendly and helpful staff. Good food and drink. Brekafast was good and an extra effort was made to serve us earkier than usual because we had a train to catch. The room was facing the main road and there was noise from traffic and from the room next door. We could clearly hear the television next door. We only noticed too late that the double glazing in the room was not fully closed and sealed which would have made a difference. Maybe future customers could be advised to check this.
- Christine (9/5): We enjoyed good food and service. The bedroom was warm, clean and beautifully furnished - Friendly, comfortable with good meals Dining area to one side of main bar
- Susan (8/5): A good hotel, an excellent breakfast - Inwould go again. - Location, friendly and helpful staff. No parking at the hotel but good parking nearby - staff needed to be more aware of the parking rules to reassure and direct them.

- Kate (9/5): -
- Andrew (9/5): -
- Graham (9/5): Fabulous place to stay lovely food great staff - Had character a lovely feel and in a great location. Room lacked hangers and space store clothes and nowhere to hang coats.
- Adrian (10/5): Perfect venue and location - Everthing said in my 5 star ratings Minor point but you have asked... released no milk in room after getting undressed for a shower (but some sent up after i telephoned)
- Wendy (8/5): - Helpful staff
- stuart (8/5): Short break in Settle - Reception was friendly, dinner and breakfast were both good. Room was warm and comfortable with plenty of sockets and lights, and the bathroom had a bath. nothing of consequence
- Lynette (9/5): Centrally located hotel, good quality facilities, very comfortable, with exceptional staff. - Central location, comfortable bed, good quality toiletries. Most of all, it was the staff -they were exceptional. Nothing was too much trouble. The Sunday roast was amazing. Nothing
- Nicola (10/5): -
- Karen (10/5): - Great location in the centre of the village.
Very clean and comfortable room.
Good pub grub in the restaurant..
- Sarah (9/5): -
- Adrian (8/5): -
- Beverley (9/5): - We loved the location, lunch was good and the breakfast was superb.
- tim (9/5): The Staff on duty on arrival and the next day for breakfast excellent , food , bedroom drinks atmosphere all excellent - Great location . And being able to secure the bikes under the arch was really helpful. N/A
- mike (10/5): -
- Heather (8/5): Loved our room (7) great food in the evening and tasty breakfast in the morning. Would definitely stay again. - Last minute night away. Room was really spacious, loved the decor. Lovely hot shower with great toiletries. Bed was big and very comfy.
- Mark (10/5): Lovely stay in Settle - Really lovely charming old pub right in the heart of Settle, staff were friendly, helpful and welcoming. The superior room we had was excellent, the bed was SO comfortable, the room was spacious and clean and had everything we needed and the little extra touches were appreciated. The shower was excellent and the toiletries a luxury. Food in the restaurant was really good, portions were generous, service was great and prices very fair. Breakfast was fabulous, and there was a good choice on the menu and also the help yourself buffet. We enjoyed our 3 night stay. Unfortunately there was no heating on at all in the building from Wednesday when we arrived until Friday afternoon and we were cold, maybe we should have asked (but we didn't)! Perhaps there was a reason for this?
- Angela (10/5): Safe/clean/friendly - Such a lovely place to stay, I felt very safe as a solo female traveller
- Lee (8/5): - Warm welcome from friendly staff. Also went above and beyond helping us park bikes securely
- amanda (10/5): An excellent stay ! - It is a very friendly hotel. The staff are great . They also looked happy to work with each other, which isn't the case in a lot of places , this definitely helps with a chilled out atmosphere. The food is excellent. The bedroom was so lovely and very clean and a comfy bed . The breakfast is definitely worth getting up for . We will stay here again . Just a small point , during breakfast, on the Tuesday repairs were being carried in the breakfast area , so wasn't as relaxed and peaceful as it was the day before . It was noisy with the drill and then the vacuuming. Maybe this could have been done at the end of the breakfast time . The two staff members were doing really well with this interruption and that fact that it was really busy, but they kept smiling and cheerful. So, full marks to them .
- Stephen (8/5): - Great pub with great atmosphere. Excellent staff. Excellent breakfast. Comfortable room. Shower only lukewarm.
- Helen (10/5): An oasis of warmth, comfort and quality in the chaos of life - Check-in was very friendly. The room was fantastic, bathroom excellent, bed SO comfy. The extra touches like the locally sourced, hand made fudge went down exceptionally well.
We enjoyed a relaxed breakfast of superior quality food and faultless service.
The cat in the courtyard was an added bonus.
All the staff were excellent but a special shout out must be given to Ryan and Claire. Guys, you are amazing, Thankyou. Leaving
- Kevin (9/5): A very enjoyable stay, as always. - Rooms, quality of food, friendliness of the staff. Proximity to the railway station. Everything was fine.
- Graham (9/5): -
- carl morton (10/5): - Everything was great, breakfast experience was superb but should be for the price, just under 2 century,I would have put the figure but they don't allow it in the review
- Jackie (8/5): -
- Christopher (8/5): -
- Michael (10/5): Great stopover - Great central spot, comfortable beds and rooms. Nice decor and style.
- Joseph (7/5): -
- Reiner (8/5): - Cozy rooms, good dinner, lovely town.
- Margaret (10/5): We had a really enjoyable stay and visit to settle - Breakfast delicious. Staff extremely friendly. Close to theatre which we attended night before. There was nothing not to our liking.
- Edward (10/5): -
- Martin Kellaway (9/5): -
- David (8/5): -
- ELAINE (10/5): Great stay, felt well looked after - Lovely hotel, great food & friendly staff. Nothing!
- kimbo (9/5): - everything went , great place to stay
- Dave (8/5): -
- Terrie (10/5): -
- Damian (10/5): Lovely place for a short break - lovely staff cracking sense of humour one and all
The pace was lovely old well worn but immaculate Food was spot on
- Anita (8/5): -
- Gould (9/5): Excellent Location and venue. - Excellent hotel and lovely staff and food.
- Darren (9/5): Perfect. Just whatvwas needed. - Location was perfect. Breakfast was well presented. Staff were exceptional.
- Lois (7/5): Great location, great breakfast, unfortunately no table service for evening meal - Beautiful room, location and facilities. All staff super friendly, breaks fast in the morning was great Table booked for the evening, in the bar areas as we have a dog. We weren’t made aware, but as we weren’t sitting in the restaurant the service wasn’t table service and you had to order food and drinks at the bar. For the price that you pay for the food it just wasn’t worth it at all.
- Kate (9/5): - It was in a good location for where we needed to be.
The bed was very comfortable.
All bases covered for drinks, with Tea, coffee, hot chocolate.
White Company bathroom products in big bottles which are more eco friendly.
- Nicola (9/5): - Lovely pub hotel in a great location. The breakfast was excellent and the staff were very friendly and helpful Rooms are a bit small but beautifully equipped with really nice toiletries and tea/coffee facilities
- John (10/5): -
- Charly (9/5): -
- John (8/5): Ideal for an overnight stay in this beautiful part of the country - Ideal location. Comfy and well-appointed rooms. Excellent breakfast. Friendly and welcoming staff. Shame there is no car park(although there are plenty of car parks in the area). It is a lovely old building but some people might find the stairs and uneven corridors a challenge.
- Glenn (8/5): OK - Food and drinks good. Lighting in the bedroom could have been stronger. Low beams in the ceiling irritating. Lack of mik for earlymorning tea was also irritating - it had been explained that fresh milk was not in the room, didn't say that there was no alternative.
- Harry (8/5): -
- Judith (10/5): - The Golden Lion has a lovely welcoming atmosphere. The room was extremely comfortable and had everything you need, including a selection of hot drinks and lovely soaps! Breakfast was plentiful and delicious (including a great vegetarian option). Nothing!
- Belinda (9/5): Perfect place for a walking weekend - The room was immaculate and very comfortable. Lovely finishing touches like the tea cost for the little teapot! We were given a flask of fresh milk to use too. A welcoming log burner as you enter the bar gives a cosy feel and the staff were very welcoming too! A great place to spend a weekend. Nothing to dislike.
- Lux (9/5): Recommended - location, food, room. - This pub hotel was probably better than expected. The rooms were well furnished, the breakfast was very good when all of the options are taken into account, and of course it's well location. White Company toiletries but no mixer taps, fi that helps sum up the experience.
Beware of the need for a parking disc when stopping in the market place. Nothing in particular. The windows could do with a clean? It can be noisy in rooms at the front of the hotel, but that didn't bother us.
- Cooper (10/5): A Perfect Winter Break - Exceptional stay. Love coming here and always enjoy our overnights. Food superb and loved the folk band playing ( happens once a month ) throughout dinner. Always a warm welcome, roaring log fires and super dog friendly. Even in winter it makes for a lovely cosy stay and Settle has interesting antique shops to browse and a wonderful museum too. Whats not to like! If you arrive at 3pm the disc parking is free ( the 2 hours takes you to the Free from 5pm - 8am ) Then you can set your disc for 8am which covers you till 10am ) so parking isn't an issue in here.
- Debra (10/5): Lovely place to stay and eat and drink, right in the centre of Settle. - The location and also the bedroom was beautiful. I was with a group of friends and we had to wait quite a while before we all received our breakfasts.
- KENNETH (9/5): -
- Theresa (10/5): Great dog friendly hotel highly recommend - The bedrooms were beautiful and clean with everything you needed Bar downstairs gave easy access to food and drink. All the staff were happy and helpful
- Olivia (9/5): -
- C RS (9/5): Will be back - Friendly staff, cosy pub with great breakfast, spotless clean and lovely room 👌🏼 walking distance to train station. A pub is a pub, so when it's busy the noise can be heard in the room upstairs. It was very quiet from 9pm on though.
- JOKT (8/5): - Can't praise the staff here enough. They were all extremely friendly and helpful. They created a very relaxed atmosphere. The beds were comfortable and the shower was powerful. Good location. Good standard of food in the evening menu. The layout of the bar/eating area downstairs is odd. The brightly lit breakfast area detracts from the pub atmosphere. The tables in the car area could be smaller, meaning more people could sit there. Coffee was weak at breakfast.
