Guest Reviews
- Alisha (10/5): It was relaxing and a great place for birding. - It’s very peaceful and the owners are very kind. We enjoyed the birds on the property and all around Crooked Tree. There isn’t much nearby, which isn’t necessarily bad - just something to plan for if you will be there a few days.
- Claire (10/5): Relaxing, authentic, Belize - The warm welcome and Robert’s extraordinary knowledge about the local history and flora and fauna. Our room was well appointed, with toiletries, a/c and a very comfortable bed. Robert was able to organise a trip and tour to the Lananai ruins. He can also lead tours as he is a fully qualified guide. The facilities included a swimming pool, beautiful gardens, bicycles which we borrowed to cycle to the lagoon and see the amazing bird life. Robert’s breakfasts and Becky’s amazing dinners offered a taste of the local cuisine and could not be faulted. Overall we cannot offer high enough praise for the welcome we received and would recommend Beck’s B&B for anyone exploring this part of lovely Belize. Nothing it was all fabulous, see above.
- Adrien (9/5): -
- Fay (10/5): Wonderful! I will return! - This is a beautiful property with gorgeous plant and bird life! Quiet, relaxing, with wonderful hosts. The availability of bicycles made it so fun to explore the village. Thanks Robert for the help with transportation!
- john (9/5): Felt like staying with a friendly cousin. - Great People!
- Nick (10/5): Excellent ,Excellent & Excellent ✌🏻 - Just Excellent,Excellent & Excellent ✌🏻💙 N/A
- Marie (7/5): -
- Debra (10/5): Peaceful, welcoming small b and b in the heart of Belize’s natural environment. - This is a quiet peaceful place with 3 guests rooms where you are greeted and attended to by Becky and Robert, the owners. They are most gracious, helpful and accommodating. The room has a very comfortable kind bed and is very ‘old world’ elegant - I loved it! Nature abounds - birds of all kinds singing and coming in to feed. The pool is clean and refreshing. Lots of good seating on the property all over and on its 2 lovely decks, one on the second floor in the canopy. The food is delicious! A full homemade breakfast is included. We had dinner all 4 nights because this place is remote. They were made by the owners including desserts and yummy - some of my favorite in Belize. They arranged tours and supplied transportation to and from for a reasonable price. I will come back in a heartbeat - a total repeater and the nicest place I saw in Crooked Tree even if off the lagoon. Amazing value! Also, the hosts are quickly responsive to all questions before coming and while here. Robert is quite the story teller. Nothing! It is dreamy.
- Levi (10/5): Comfortable rooms, in a beautiful location, with caring hosts. - This was our third stay at Beck’s, and once again, it couldn’t have been better. It is a beautiful, peaceful place, with the most caring hosts. It is relatively close to the BZE airport, so it is now our go-to spot for a first and last nights of our trips to Belize trips.
- Levi (10/5): Becks is the best! Comfortable rooms, beautiful grounds, fantastic hosts. -
- Chris (8/5): -
- Louise (10/5): Highly recommended - Robert was extremely and friendly. The room was huge and felt very luxurious. Lots of birds to watch in the beautiful surroundings. Breakfast was excellent, and Robert arranged dinner as village restaurants were closed, which was very tasty. Highly recommended! We couldn't get the air conditioning to work but we didn't need it so wasn't a problem, and we're confident Robert would have helped out anyway!
- Heather Arrowood (10/5): -
- Caroline (9/5): A beautiful place to stay. - This is a beautiful hacienda-type villa with a big cashew orchard plenty of birds and a veranda looking out over the garden. The room itself was like a dream. The owners are very kind. They came to pick me up in Belize city and they had arranged a horse ride for me which was a great experience at sunset. Breakfast was excellent. I found the room temperature difficult to regulate: the fan was strong and the air conditioning too cold. The room was also a little dark. I had a salad from a kitchen in the neighbourhood but unfortunately, it made me sick for several days.
- Ardeth (10/5): Exceptional -
- Mark (10/5): Sanctuary within a sanctuary. - Quiet, interesting place. Robert and Becky are incredible stewards.
- Reisfield (10/5): what more could you want? - We loved being at a B&B in the heart of a community. We learned so much about the Crooked Tree village from our hosts. Other than the great meals (breakfast included, dinner by advance request) we loved spending time on the upstairs patio to relax, read a book, and watch the birds. soooo many birds! and if you want more just take a walk. A little tricky to find, google maps worked but Waze sent us a little off track. Good news is, it is a very small and friendly community and all we needed to do was ask the first person we passed where Beck's was.
- Anne (10/5): Ultimate relaxation - Beck's B&B is a beautiful oasis in a peaceful setting and very laid back. Robert and Rebecca were fantastic hosts - Robert organised tours and travel while Rebecca
cooked delicious meals. There's a small swimming pool and several spots to sit and watch the birds. Nothing
- Leonardo (10/5): Attentive service and very friendly stuff deep in beautiful nature - Beautiful grounds and excellent food Nothing
- Robert (9/5): We had a very enjoyable stay and would recommend Becks at Crooked Tree. - Becky and Robert are wonderful hosts. Breakfast and dinners were excellent. Robert arranged our tours and gave excellent information about them. We loved all the birds that come to the courtyard and around the property, we saw Parrots every day! The room and the beds were comfortable, and it is very quiet at night. Would have liked a thicker pillow, they were thinner than we are used to.
- Tim (10/5): A brilliant base for exploring Crooked Tree with the most wonderful hosts - The property is made by the warmth of the hosts - Becky and Robert. They really make you feel at home. They provided invaluable advice on how to make the most of our time there, as well as cooking up some wonderful home cooked food to enjoy during our stay. Nothing!
- Levitation (9/5): Fantastic! - Super nice hosts. Spacious, comfortable rooms. WiFi was a little spotty.
- Mary (10/5): A comfortable rural stay - Spacious and comfortable accommodation in a beautiful garden. Robert and Becky were very welcoming and hospitable. They arranged our local activities for us and Robert collected us from the airport and drove us to the Lamanai boat. We enjoyed two tasty dinners as well as a good breakfast each day. It’s a lovely location to explore the countryside and see lots of birds
- Terry (10/5): Lovely idyll close to nature - Robert and Becky the owners are gracious hosts and always willing to provide advice and help with planning trips. There are only three rooms here, we had the ground floor room which was very spacious although a little dark. Decoration is quite eclectic and unusual but very stylish. A comfortable bed and constant hot water provide the basics for a comfortable stay. The public areas have lots of seating options, two balconies and lots of books to peruse. For anyone wishing to just chill out in peaceful surroundings and close to nature (many birds in the large garden) it is just perfect.
Dining options are limited so we had breakfast and dinner here on both nights. Food was excellent and Becky is always willing to accommodate dietary tastes. The location of the property is incorrect on some maps but is accurate on their own website. Improved lighting in the room would help in the evening.
- Anna (10/5): Exceptional - Absolutely loved our stay here. Becky and Robert are so lovely and knowledgeable, helping us out with everything during our stay. The accommodation is stunning. Breakfast is delicious. We would highly recommend this place!! The only downside is that we left!
- Kate (10/5): Gorgeous home in the middle of a birder's paradise - Becks B&B is a truly magical place. This beautiful home designed and built by its proprietors Becky and Robert Armstrong has multiple beautiful places to sit, relax and and enjoy the gorgeous gardens with the many tropical birds who call it home. The room is charmingly decorated and very spacious. The bed was so comfortable. And don't miss out on the amazing meals Becky can make for you with 24 hour notice. There is also a small pool to cool off on a hot day. Once you are there you won't want to leave.
- Elizabeth (8/5): A relaxing start to our trip in an oasis of calm - Becky and Robert were excellent hosts. We had a large, beautifully designed room with lots of space to put things. We loved being able to make tea and coffee when we felt like it and enjoyed watching the birds in the gorgeous garden. Becky provided dinner every night and it was very nice Belizean food. There was very little to dislike about out stay. A bit more light in the bedroom would have been handy and the mattress could do with being replaced but they were minor inconveniences.
- Eva (10/5): Fantastic hospitality, food, birds, and AC! - Host Becky and Robert, Kai and Angela.
Landscaping and BIRDS! Food was wonderful!! Pool could use some cleaning.
- Lisa (8/5): Nice for a quiet, tranqil stay - Wonderful hosts. Fantastic meals! Quiet. Ability to get laundry done! Heautiful grounds and lovely balcony! A little more transparency in pricing. At $25 each I found dinners exspensive. Downstairs room was dark and felt a little depressing.
- Matthew (9/5): Superb -
- Nancy (10/5): Main attraction was the birds around the beautiful gardens - The breakfast was tasty. Lots of different items--toast yougurt omelette bacon bananas paoaya All good
- Wendy (10/5): Exceptional -
- Kevin (10/5): Should have stayed longer!! - Lovely people. Lovely breakfast. Enjoyed a swim in the pool, a swing in the hammocks, and our first cup of tea in a few days! Oh, and very clean room. Highly recommend!
- Riccardo (10/5): Wonderful stay - The house is beautiful and the garden is magical. The owner is very kind!
- Eason (10/5): Exceptional -
- Lindsey (10/5): Slice of heaven filled with lovely hosts and birds!!! - Fantastic hosts who cooked amazing food and showed us so much hospitality. And the facility was so beautiful! I would change nothing. I dislike that i didn't book more days there!!!
- Carol (10/5): It was exceptionally great - I like the peace and quiet and the owners were very friendly and caring I liked everything
- Rachael (10/5): Exceptional -
- Leach (10/5): A piece of paradise - The grounds were phenomenal. We saw lots of unusual (for us) birds right on the property. The pool was cool and refreshing. The room was beautifully laid out and comfortable.
The hosts were welcoming and accommodating. They had useful advice for what to do in the area and were knowledgeable in local birds and plants. Be sure to take their advice and eat at Carrie's Kitchen! It's a slow drive on rutted roads, but I'd do it again to stay there.
- Lori (10/5): It was relaxing, delightful experience! - The owners are really nice people and their home is beautiful. The grounds were so lovely and the pool area is very nice. Our room was extremely comfortable, clean, and spacious. We loved the style of the house...it was like a hacienda-style home with the outside verandas and arches everywhere. The husband made the delicious breakfast and we really enjoyed chatting with them and learning about the community. There happened to be a wedding the day we arrived and a funeral the next day. Everyone in the village and other villages were attending. It was a neat experience to be staying with people who were a part of that community and very involved. The wife was making rice and beans for the funeral wake and was making it over fire which was their traditional way to make them with certain spices. We asked if we could take a look and she showed us how she was preparing them. That, to us, is the best part of traveling! Being with the local people and experiencing life their way. So, not only was their place really comfortable and the food really good, the cultural experience was the best! It was all excellent. The only thing was that it was a little challenging to find. Our phone GPS wasn't working so we had an idea where it was and it seemed like it would be easy to find without it but we didn't realize there was an actual village there. So there were more roads and turns than we anticipated. There were a couple of signs but still not too easy without the GPS. However, people all know each other so I'm sure if you stopped and asked someone, they could help you out. Obviously, we found it without our GPS, so as long as yours is working, I'm sure it would be no problem.
- Veronica (10/5): We would definitely stay here again - Robert and Becky were amazing hosts and every meal was so delicious!! Robert drove us everywhere we needed to go and we felt super safe!
- Stacy (9/5): Superb - Beautiful place. Awesome people.
- Chloe (10/5): Exceptional -
- Annemieke (9/5): Unforgettable experience. - We loved our stay at Becks. The rooms are spacious and very clean. The food prepared for us was delicious and we loved the surroundings. We walked in the cashew tree orchard and tried the fruits. I The pool wasn’t operational when we were there.
- Tanya (10/5): Exceptional - Robert and Becky are gracious hosts! We loved the gardens and all the birds. The room was very comfortable and the food was excellent!
- Robert (10/5): Fanastic B&B - First off - the building was super cool. Roomy, clean and comfortable.
The hosts were outstanding.
Crooked Tree is a unique place.
Just special place run by some very smart sweet people. That I have fly to Belize to get there.
- Ana (8/5): Very good -
- Rosalind (9/5): A marvelous few days enjoying the warmth and hospitality of Belize. - We loved the home style warmth that Beck and Robert. It was wonderful to enjoy true Belizean hospitality.
- Robertkellyf (10/5): Exceptional - Great breakfast and we had dinner served one night and it was a 3 course meal and very filling. The atmosphere was super relaxed and the owners have a wealth of knowledge. We were also able to attend a Sunday church service. Lots of wildlife and a friendly community.
- Elizabeth (9/5): Superb -
- Shanna (10/5): Relaxing Oasis with Authentic Local Vibe - We had a wonderful time at Becks B&B. Crooked Tree was our first stop on our Belize trip and it did not dissappoint. The facility is a beautiful Oasis with lovely flowers and feeders for birdwatching. We had one hot day there and spent the afternoon standing in the pool birding. It was so relaxing and peaceful. The location was a good launching point for other excursions. We visited Lamanai from Orange Walk and did the lagoon tour out of Bird Eye View Lodge. My husband and I agreed that we were grateful we had opted for Becks for our stay. It was quieter and felt like a more personalized experience. Becky and Roger are wonderful. They are from Crooked Tree and are so willing to share their local knowledge and hospitality. Roger took us for a bird walk. The two of them cooked the most delicious meals (we did 2 breakfasts and 2 dinners there and all were wonderful). Thank you for the beautiful stay and give Smokey some pets from us!
- Ingrid (10/5): Lovely people, lovely quiet location. - Friendly and helpful owners. A very warm welcome. Very peaceful location in the heart of a creole community. Bed was very high (3 mattresses) and a wobbly. When one of us moved the whole bed moved.
- Stephen (9/5): Superb -
- William (9/5): Easy going beautiful hosts and homestay - Beautiful outdoor area. Meals were excellent. Room was spacious and well appointed. Very flexible and helpful hosts. Family friendly vibe. Good shower and air con. Smoky the dog was a great walking guide.
- Robert (9/5): Superb -
- Patricia (10/5): wonderful. wish we could have stayed longer. - the owners Becky and Robert were so accomodating. the dinner and breakfast were great. the room was spacious. their property was beautiful. their home had such a comfortable feeling . I even got the opportunity to bird watch with Robert in the morning. the area with the lagoons was beautiful. the crooked tree area is lovely and something not to miss.
- Marjorie (10/5): We had a wonderful time at Beck’s. Robert and Becky were great hosts, and the birding was sublime. And Becky’s cooking i -
- Dave (10/5): Perfect for the adventure traveler, birder, explorer - Beck and Robert are easily among the best hosts we have experienced in our many years of traveling and many, many stays in B&Bs and small inns. We stayed four nights. Our room was spacious and comfortable, the property lovely with a number of nice spots to sit and read when not our exploring. Wi-Fi was strong enough for my wife to take her zoom class one day.
Robert and Beck booked a river trip to Lamanai for us (highly recommend) -- all we had to do was show up. Robert has encyclopedic knowledge of birds. Breakfasts were excellent and we had dinner two of our four nights; also very good.
Bear in mind that Crooked Tree is not a resort town. Very little infrastructure and rough roads. Do not let his deter you from staying at this lovely property unless that is not your cup of tea. If you like full immersion in a place -- the real place, not the shined-up holiday version of a place -- then this is your spot for birding, visiting Lamanai and/or Altun Ha Mayan ruins and chillaxing with a Belikin (I recommend the stout) in Belize's version of the Outback. Nada.
- Kevin (10/5): Incredible accommodation in beautiful setting. - The location was perfect for our birding activity, the staff friendly, knowledgeable and helpful, and the property clean, comfortable and well maintained.
Excellent breakfast on the open-air dining room each morning to the symphony of hummingbirds, parrots, and other songbirds. The fact that we had to leave! We wished we could have stayed longer!
- Kevin (10/5): Excellent staff and location for a perfrct stay. - Close to birdwatching (primary reason we chose this location.
Excellent staff
Clean and quiet
- Merinda (10/5): What a wonderful experience! - What a wonderful experience staying at Beck’s B&B, Crooked Tree was! You are inside the Crooked Tree Wildlife Sanctuary! The hosts Becky and Robert made me feel like it was my own home. My room was the queen room, and the bed was raised to step up to. It was so comfortable and very quiet. They are both very helpful and friendly, including and catering for me with meals and activities. I really enjoyed being here and I wish to highly recommend Beck’s B&B. Ten out of ten! 10/10!
- Kevin (10/5): Grateful to stay there. Only wished it was longer. - The Creole food was exceptional. The best I had in Belize.
The location was off the beaten track but that's what makes it special.
From the furnishings to the food to the garden, it's obvious that Robert and Becky take pride in providing a warm and gracious home away from home. The only recommendation I would make is a signpost right at the entrance to Crooked Tree Village as Google Maps pointed me in the wrong direction.
- Nick (10/5): Exceptional -
- Worth (10/5): Idyllic - Beautiful country villa with friendly owners. Getting there is via dirt roads with lots of potholes.
- Swarnal (10/5): Excellent birding within the B&B grounds! - Wonderful hosts! Great breakfast and dinner everyday! And of course excellent birding within the B&B grounds!
- Patrick (9/5): Superb -
- Lieke (10/5): Exceptional - Fantastic property and excellent food! Robert and Becky are super helpful and very knowledgeable. They do their best to make you comfortable.
- Seema (9/5): Superb -
- Patrick (8/5): Very good -
- Steven (10/5): Wonderful gem of a B&B in a quaint village. Gracious hosts. Highly recommended. - The hosts couldn't have been better and helped so much with information, booking a tour, restaurant recs. Property was absolutely beautiful, lush and full of greenery. Adorable little dog. Nice outdoor lounging area, swimming pool. Room was spacious and very comfortable. Huge bathroom, AC worked well, plenty of towels. Breakfast was homemade and delicious. Room could have been lit a bit better, felt dark. Location is definitely off the beaten path, which in some ways was amazing and in others a drag. About 15-20 minutes off the main road, mostly through super bumpy dirt roads.
- Anne (9/5): Great location for tours. Good food. Knowledgable hosts. - Location, hosts Mattresses need updating
- Ray (10/5): Exceptional - This was wonderful.. the birds even in the courtyard were beautiful.. becky and Robert made us an amazing breakfast and we enjoyed a spectacular dinner. I had coconut snook, and Ray had chicken. They were so accommodating to ray’s dietary restrictions.
Everything there was as advertised, and the hosts were wonderful. Felt like home away from home.
Remember to keep your google map on always! It will help with directions.. also make the 2nd exit (left) at the tiny roundabout!! That way you will not miss the turn and go too far..
- Hazel (10/5): Exceptional -
- Joachim (10/5): Exceptional - We loved to feel as part of Robert and Becky's family! They made our stay wonderful!!! Food was delicious 👌🏼 The tour to Lamanai with Colin was a great experience!
- Carl (10/5): The hosts make you feel like your part of their family. - A lot of beautiful flowers. The roads in crooked tree.
- Carolin (8/5): Perfect to relax - The property is absolutely beautiful. It's a great place to unwind and relax. The room was fantastic, furnished and decorated with much care. Very spacious and beautiful bathroom. Since there are only three rooms in total, it feels more like a homestay than a commercial accommodation. Coffee and drinking water are always available. You should be aware that there are not many shops and dining options in Crooked Tree - this has nothing to do with the accommodation itself, though.
- Cindy (10/5): I highly recommend beck's place to everyone - my honest opinion rhe place is just excellent I love it would go back over and over to stay there everything was perfect love it
- Theresa (10/5): Beck’s is an amazing place to stay! The room was comfortable and private, the food was wonderful, and the hosts were fri - The property is beautiful! The house was a surprise - not what we were expecting in the middle of Belize. The gardens and courtyard are amazing. The variety of plants and trees draw the birds. It was difficult to find, but only because google maps and map.me both show Beck’s on the opposite side of the he village. We also missed a sign, but found it once we backtracked.
- James (10/5): Wonderful - Everything was wonderful. We used it as a relaxing time from our trip. You can not find a better place
- Inge (10/5): relaxing in crooked tree - piece of heaven in the quiet part of crooked tree. the place is so good! saw a lot of birds. had a great breakfast and the host was so friendly. would stay here again
- Chungwai (10/5): Exceptional - My main purpose is to photograph birds and Becks b&b perfectly fulfilled this target. Don't trust google map it doesn't show correct address. You need to pay attention to the sign.
- Rachel (10/5): wish we could have stayed longer! - beautiful estate!
- Fanning (10/5): Very pleasant experience. - We loved our room. It was very spacious, comfortable, and beautiful.
The host was very nice and friendly. The food they prepared for us was delicious too.
We learned some Belizean culture and Creole language form them. We wish we could have more lighting in the closet area.
- Birch (9/5): Becky and Robert are wonderful hosts. They have a wonderful place that was comfortable and beautiful. If you like birds, - Comfort and amenities. Excellent hosts.
- James (7/5): Very nice, some great bird watching and several iguanas to be seen. - The staff were helpful with local information. There was a great garden with hummingbirds and orieols and the surrounding areas had iguanas and woodpeckers. There was a pool and very tasty breakfast. The owners dog followed us for a nice work to the lagoon for some top notch birdwatching., which was fun! Finding places to eat in the local area was a little tricky,we had a lot of rice and beans!
There were some mosquitos in the evenings, unavoidable for the area.
- T-baduge (9/5): I enjoyed my stay and really fulfilled my desires as a birds photographer. - Excellent breakfast. Birds friendly location and ideal for birdwatchers. Two owners (Becky & Robert) are very friendly and helpful. Tea and coffee is available in 24 hours. I do not hesitate to recommend this homely place to any nature lover who visits Crooked Tree village in Belize. Crooked Tree village is famous for cashews. Village dirt roads.
- Krisztian (9/5): Birdwatchers’s paradise - Beautiful, lush, spacious garden full of colorful birds, including some hummingbirds and butterflies. Cozy and big room, nice and friendly host. Good breakfast, nice (optional) dinner. Good aircon and mosquito net. Google does not put the location of the property right - it is exactly on the very opposite site of the village, at the very end of a rough road (to the left at the first intersection - small green hut/house, not to the right). Wifi was a bit weak in the room. We also encountered a very sizeable tropical cockroach one day in our room, however, the house is in a tropical environment so it is of lesser concern. We would have loved a local birdwatching tour, too.
- Ruth (10/5): Absolutely awesome! - Wonderful people in a beautiful place!
- Carl (10/5): Every time we visit Crooked Tree, we will stay at Beck’s. - So many beautiful plants and flowers on the property. The road to the property is rough.
- Roger (10/5): Beck’s B and B is a Crooked Tree oasis with exceptionally welcoming hosts. - Gracious hosts, charming and comfortable room and delicious food. off the beaten path but a wonderful place to stay in Crooked Tree. nothing.
- Barbara (10/5): The stay was just too short. Hope to get back to you again. - Best breakfasts ever! Loved the grounds and the staff was wonderful! Got many great new photos of the birds. Thank you for showing me some and letting me know what they were. New birder needed help. Thank! I thought it was exactly what I needed.
- Nora (10/5): Exceptional -
- Kristin (10/5): Exceptional -
- Andrea (9/5): Superb - Wonderful room and lovely surroundings. Food great even without Becks being there Difficult to travel to - roads especially appalling.
- Kristina (10/5): home away from home - Everything about this property is lovely—gracious, local hosts with a long history in the area, very comfortable room and places to hang out, awesome birding on the property, amazing food, and great support with organizing tours. I’d be back in a heartbeat. n/a
- Suzanne (10/5): Exceptional -
