Guest Reviews
- McCullen (10/5): - Small boutique hotel with large rooms. We had the 3rd floor balcony room overlooking the plaza, it was amazing. Staff attentiveness was awesome and the location was perfect for exploring Porto.
- Jane (9/5): Lovely stay in historical property - Beautiful property right in centre of historical Porto.
Tastefully decorated room and on site staff who were very friendly and helpful A welcome drink would have been nice after a long journey poor that this was not offered.
- Proctor (9/5): - Beautiful, small hotel ideally located on a lovely square with lovely restaurants and bars. Easy walking distance to all attractions.
Loved all the antique furnishings.
Breakfast was delicious and served in a beautiful dining room, felt very special. Would have liked a kettle in the room to make our own tea in the morning.
Didn’t like the glass door on the toilet as there was no privacy.
- Jill (10/5): Perfect location to explore every neighborhood in Porto - Perfectly located for everything we wanted to do in Porto. We were never more than a 20 minute walk from anywhere we wanted to go. A 5-minute walk from Sao Bento was ideal. We enjoyed breakfast each morning. We didn’t really see the other guests as there is a wide window for breakfast. The suite was spacious and was well-appointed.
The hotel helped arrange a taxi to Campañha station and had a to-go breakfast prepped for our early train. It was an 11€ ride from the airport. The only complaint is that the water closet/toilet and shower doors are partially frosted with gaps on the outer borders, so you have a partial view into them from the bed/room. Privacy is a bit lacking, while the design aspect is lovely.
- V6700OTsusant (10/5): Wonderful experience. - My husband and I celebrated a special wedding anniversary in Porto over the last few days. After much research we decided to stay at M Maison Particulaire and we were delighted with our choice.
Its location is fantastic as it is in the centre of the historic district. Marco, Susana and the rest of the team who run the hotel were superb. We were made to feel so welcome and they couldn’t do enough for us.
The hotel is spectacular, it’s a very old building that has been completely refurbished but it retains its original charm while providing modern comforts. There are only 10 rooms and while we were there it felt like we were in someone’s home rather than in an impersonal hotel.
I would highly recommend this wonderful hotel. We are already planning our return!

- WHU1980 (10/5): Fantastic property - We had an amazing stay at this hotel in a perfect central location in Porto. We stayed for three nights in Room IV, which was spotless, spacious, and beautifully furnished — everything you could hope for in a room.
The staff were exceptional from our first interaction to our departure. We were especially well looked after by the lovely Susannah, who truly went above and beyond to make our stay special.
Breakfast was fantastic, with plentiful choices that were fresh and beautifully prepared each morning.
I would highly recommend this hotel and would absolutely return. Thank you for a fantastic few days in your lovely hotel and wonderful city.
- Mellora (10/5): Location location. You must walk your suitcases a short distance to get there but well worth it. -
- Jens (10/5): Absolutely amazng hotel and best possible experience - Certainly one of the absolute top hotel experiences my wife and I have ever had. In the heart of Porto at a vibrant little plaza, this family-owned hotel has an upscale, personal bed & breakfast vibe. The building is from the 16th century, but it comes with all modern amenities including an elevator. The staff, including the owner's son, were always absolutely approachable and cared for our needs. Our room was stunning with the original ceiling, exactly as described, a modern bathroom with a rain shower, the most comfortable bed, and high-quality linens. While the bars and restaurants at the plaza were busy late into the night, the double windows provided excellent noise reduction. I slept like a baby even though i am very noise sensitive. The hotel offers vouchers for reduced fees at a nearby garage. Staying at this place, you can explore the old Porto conveniently by foot. We will dream about this hotel experience for a very very long time Nothing really. However, if you come with a rental car, one should notice that the hotel is located on a pedestrian-only plaza in the heart of the city. Getting there means driving through some busy small streets. You can park your car some 100 feet away to unload your car and then get to the garage.
- Piper (10/5): Our favorite hotel ever - Breakfast was the perfect spread. We opted to have it delivered to our room for an extra charge and ate it on the terrace. Highly recommend. N/A
- Chris (10/5): Excelent in every respect. - Excelent breakfast cooked to order. Everything was perfect. Not a thing
- Jackie (9/5): A beautiful elegant placd to stay in hidtoric part ot Porto - Beautiful decor throughout, elegant and tranquil
Our room.. no 1 overlooks the square and really lovely to watch the world go by from the balcony.
Our room was magnificentwith a carved wooden ceiling, a special romantic place. We turned air con right down which was fine, might be very hot in summer
Good location no more than 10 mnute walk from any attraction. We found breakfast adequate but rather unimaginative.
Would havd been nice to be offered coffee refill and to have a selection of pastries, cheese and meats.
Others have mentioned no tea and coffee facilities in the room, we totally agree this is lacking. I made a big fuss on our first vist. This time a kettle and cups were provided, we had our own tea bags fortunately.

- ToughRalph (10/5): Wonderful Stay for a Three Night Porto Adventure - We found this to be a lovely hotel to explore Porto. We booked Room IX (9), and we particularly enjoyed the balcony overlooking a beautiful and active Porto square (while enjoying incredible views of the cathedral and Porto rooftops, as well as live music each evening).
This is a boutique hotel with only 10 rooms and proactive service throughout by a welcoming team. Breakfast each morning was great (and personalized each evening – both time and menu – the night before). There is also a nice coffee offering and honor bar throughout the day.
The location is perfect to walk to any Porto activity. We did not once Uber or taxi during our three days in Porto.
Room IX (9) is incredible and we’d look forward to staying again. One watch point: the bathroom configuration does not have a traditional bathroom door and therefore a bit less privacy.
- Lorena (10/5): -
- Carol (10/5): Would definitely recognize to everyone - Small hotel centrally located. Beautiful room with outdoor space. Outstanding. Loved everything
- Feriandas (10/5): - The best hotel I have stayed in. Small boutique hotel with exceptional personal attention. Breakfast was top notch. All hotel is top notch, modern with retro style. Hotel's location is in the heart of the old town, next to multiple restaurants and shopping street.
- Richard (10/5): - Absolutely beautiful hotel right in the centre of Porto, within walking distance of all the main sights. The building is ancient with antique furniture, comfortable beds and quaint terrace/patio. Very friendly staff. Only slight criticism is the breakfast which you need to chose in advance and which we both found quite difficult to do from a long list. The food itself was delicious.
- Jill (10/5): -
- maseih (10/5): - It was in the heart of Historic section. Once inside you felt transformed to a luxury world . This is usually hard to find in most touristy cities. I also loved the Bed and breakfast approach and the Cousy atmosphere
- joan (8/5): - Beautiful hotel located at the heart of downtown porto with all the restaurant and shops near by, very walkable. All the original deoration pieces like the celings even staircase, every detail carries the story of this building.
Each morning's breackfast are amazy with a great service, makes you feel like a home.
Luckly we met the owner of this hotel, she tell us some of this buildings history and how she and her son find it builded this amazing place from nothing ..
- Mark Bohn (9/5): -
- Michael (10/5): - Excellent stay in room #2 with private patio. Great service from entire staff. Cooked to order breakfast. 10-room boutique hotel with very high service standards.
- Martin S. (10/5): - This was such a unique hotel - room was fabulous. Location was great - lots of restaurants nearby and quick walk to the riverfront
- Hyung Gyu (10/5): - Breakfast was excellent
- Elizabeth (9/5): This property was recommended to us and it lived up to expectation. Perfect location. - This property was recommended to us and it lived up to expectation. From the unique room, to the comfy bed. The perfect location, superb restaurant recommendations and nice morning breakfast options. We would love to return one day. Would love a kettle in our room to make our own tea.
- David (10/5): - Our experience at this hotel was amazing. The location and amenities were impressive. The staff, especially Susana, went above and beyond with the level of service offered and made this our most memorable stay. I would recommend this hotel without hesitation.
- Jani (10/5): A fabulous stay in Porto - Amazing location in a historic building that had been converted superbly. The rooms were large and comfortable, which made the whole trip feel very special. The buskers outside the hotel played the same music over and over again. It was way too loud which disturbed the ambience. They should be made to turn the volume down so that it is less intrusive.
- Deidre (10/5): - Beautiful room, breakfast was delicious Room was very warm and air didn’t circulate. The front desk said there wasn’t anything they could do. AC was turned down all it would go.
- Ginette (10/5): -

- Monica (10/5): - We loved everything about this hotel. The room was very comfortable. Staff was very friendly and met all our needs and requests.
- Emily (10/5): - This is a beautiful boutique hotel in the historical area of Porto. Very good location for seeing all the wonderful sights. Wonderful restaurants close by. Very peaceful in the mornings watching the sun rise over the buildings from the balcony.
Staff couldn't do anymore for you. Very accommodating. Felt very safe in this hotel.
Breakfast was tasty and coffee was lovely.
We'd love to return!
- Andrey (10/5): - Problem with a car parking
- Ignasi (10/5): - Wonderful place. Great location, great people, great breakfast. Thank you!
- Catherine (10/5): - Beautiful hotel with excellent service and amazing breakfast!
- E359OHsimonk (10/5): Porto's finest - Absolutely beautiful hotel, dating to the mid 16th century, retaining many original features. Attention to detail was exacting. Susanna and the team could not have been more attentive. Great location for the water front and centre of Porto.
- Simon (10/5): - Absolutely beautiful hotel, dating to the mid 16th century, retaining many original features. Attention to detail was exacting. Susanna and the team could not have been more attentive. Great location for the water front and centre of Porto.
- Samuel (10/5): Exceptional - Top class hotel with excellent staff beautiful room and great breakfast stayed for two extra nights and will return.
- Yoberki (10/5): - The customer services, hospitality and cleanliness. First time l feel comfortable working without shoes in a hotel.
- Gabriel (10/5): -
- Nicholas (10/5): - Exceptional. Beautiful building that is decorated to a very high standard. Great location in the heart of Porto.
Staff are very attentive and friendly. Breakfast is wonderful.
One of the best hotels I have ever stayed in.
- Martin (10/5): Fabelagtigt - venlig personale, dejlige faciliteter og service. Selvom det er et pænt hotel er det ekstremt åbent og vel - Closed door hotel making it feel like stepping into a completely calm world detached from the busy city
- 529allysonl (10/5): Stunning hidden gem in Porto - My husband and I spent 5 nights at M Maison Particulière, and it exceeded our expectations in every way. It was by far the best place we have ever stayed. First of all, the property is stunningly beautiful. The details they have put into the decor and preserving the history do not go unnoticed. We stayed in suite 4 (Spanish masters) and loved everything about the room. The dining room was also gorgeous, as was the lobby and the garden area. Everyone who worked there was gracious and kind, making us feel like they were welcoming us into their home. Lastly, the location was perfect, on a vibrant square filled with shops and restaurants, a short walk from the river, the city center, livraria lello, and many other sites. Do not pass up this hidden gem!
- Laurie (10/5): - Loved it and such a comfortable bed, wonderful breakfast fabulous staff
- Masood (10/5): - This is an amazing hotel in the bustling heart of historic Porto. The hotel is modern and exquisitely furnished. The service was excellent. The location is perfect with easy access to everything but once you are in the hotel, you are enveloped in complete silence. I recommend this property to anyone looking for a great hotel in Porto. You will not be disappointed.
- Nancy (10/5): Welcoming and inviting. - Beautiful property, great location. The owner made you feel so welcome. Made to order breakfast, truffles at bedtime with water in the room. Very thoughtful. I would highly recommend this place.

- Kacie (10/5): - Our stay was incredible from start to finish. The hotel is beautiful and luxurious, and the staff is kind, attentive, and tremendously helpful. Complimentary breakfast was delicious and made to order every morning. The location is ideal for those looking to be in the heart of it all. Our room was absolutely gorgeous. I highly recommend this hotel!
- keithbW5614AT (10/5): Best Hotel Ever! - My favorite hotel of all time. The location on a pedestrian square was excellent and we had fantastic music from the street performances each day and night - although the room was soundproofed when we closed the doors. This hotel has been perfectly rebuilt to a very high standard and the rooms are beautiful and spacious. Every little detail was expertly constructed and has been meticulously maintained. The service that Marco and Susanna provided was very professional and helpful. I cannot say enough good things about this property and we loved our stay in Porto.
- JCHIII (10/5): Special hotel that highlights the uniqueness of Porto - Wow, what a special place. We choose M Maison Pariculiere for the Porto part of our 30th anniversary trip. It is a remarkable property made even more unique by the hospitality of the staff. Superb location along a bustling pedestrian street in the center of Porto, but once you enter it is quiet and calm. The entry room is beautiful and we enjoyed having an evening drink from the honor bar. We stayed in the Chagall room and it lived up to its name. Marco was our main contact and was present during our days and early evenings. Such special care, the hospitality was like staying with a family member. He made arrangements for breakfast (in the hotel, which was excellent), taxis, and local recommendations. And made sure our 30 year tawny port was chilled. I cannot imagine staying anywhere else in Porto.
- Linda (10/5): Ultimate luxury - We had the most fantastic stay, we stayed in room no.2, it is beautifully decorated, our room so spacious and the bed is like sleeping on a cloud! The shower was amazing. We also had a private terrace, which was amazing! The staff at the hotel are so, so nice and extremely attentive. Breakfast each morning was so nice, fresh and plentiful. We will definitely return again, the hospitality at this hotel is second to none, thank you again for making our stay so special! Nothing
- JOSEPH (10/5): - Staff was accommodating. Location is great being in a square with music all the time. Rooms are large. I recommend this place for sure!
- Gretchen (10/5): Lovely accommodations in a fun filled area - Recently refurbished home with 8 rooms
- William (10/5): - Perfect location. Staff was friendly and courteous. Very small hotel. Intimate.
- asherxyz (10/5): This is no doubt one of the best hotels in Porto ❤️ - Staying at M Maison Particulière was truly an unforgettable experience! Set in a 16th-century building right in the heart of Porto’s old town, the location couldn’t be more ideal—just steps from iconic landmarks like Palácio da Bolsa, Clérigos Tower, Porto Cathedral, São Bento Station, and more.
The hotel itself is the epitome of luxury, with the most exquisite interior design and a bespoke, intimate feel throughout. Our room was beautifully curated down to the finest detail—elegant, unique, and incredibly comfortable.
Breakfast on the garden terrace was a real highlight—peaceful, delicious, and a perfect start to the day. The staff were also exceptionally helpful and welcoming.
Highly recommend a stay here—what an incredible and special experience in Porto!
- Janet (10/5): - This is a high end hotel with exceptional value; no detail has been overlooked. Simply put, they get everything right every time. The location is perfect in the historic pedestrian center!
Our room (8) on the 4th floor was very quiet and beautiful with an amazing ceiling, comfortable king bed, excellent water pressure, bidet and garden access. The heat-A/C is completely silent!! Breakfast was delicious, presented beautifully and customized to our appetites. Our only regret is we were unable to meet the owner/visionary behind this beautiful hotel. If we return to Porto this is the ONLY hotel we want to stay at! Thank you, Marco, for delightful conversation and delicious tawny port and pastel de nata!!
- Brian (10/5): Exceptional -
- Noushin (10/5): Great experience! Absolutely recommended! - Clean, great location, personalized unique service!
Marco and everyone else were super friendly and professional!
- Noushin (10/5): Exceptional -
- Cheryl (10/5): - The staff, property and room were simply outstanding. Attentive, friendly and accommodating
would best describe the staff at M Maison Particuliere. The location was ideal and central to everything in Porto. Good restaurants right outside your door, live music, quaint shops makes this location super convenient. The breakfast was made to order everyday and delicious. All in I highly recommend this special boutique hotel.
- Wendy (10/5): - What a gem of a boutique hotel! Every detail was thought of and every inch was filled with stunning decor. The service was just perfect, the breakfasts were delicious and the location couldn't have been better. I highly recommend M Mason!
- SACHIKO (10/5): - Friendly staff and great location!
- Sally (10/5): Exceptional - Such a lovely hotel with so much charm.
- Paul (8/5): Maison M Particulière Located in Historic Porto - Good service and informative about local sights. Sad breakfast. Somber atmosphere not ideal.
- elchevere (10/5): Intimate, Unique Boutique Hotel in the heart of Porto - Excellent intimate and luxury boutique hotel with individualized service located in the heart of Porto.
10 rooms, all uniquely furnished with attention to detail and fabulous artwork.
I stayed in Room 1 which had a unique wooden carved ceiling along with artwork from Dali and a picture of a Maharajah in the living room area. Nice balcony directly overlooking the trendy and popular Rua das Flores.
Breakfast included and ordered the evening before served in a charming dining area (though some rooms might be suited for enjoying on their balconies overlooking the city).
Attentive staff and very secure building not open to non guests.
- Rosalind (9/5): Perfect stay in busy Porto - Nothing to dislike! It was lovely, quiet cool, dark room perfect… beautiful old building in a very good location! Breakfast was also very nice. Nothing
- Lachmi (10/5): - Located right in the heart of Porto. The staff was wonderful. The hotel is small but beautifully designed and has lots of character. We loved it!
- Anita (10/5): Outstanding hotel, location and staff 10/10 - Everything. Location was perfect , room and hotel was beautiful, staff were exceptionally lovely and helpful and breakfast was superb Nothing
- Timothy (10/5): Incredible hotel in an outstanding location. - The hotel is a completely rebuilt old structure in the heart of old Porto. Everything is modern, but the feel is still of a palace from two centuries ago. The staff, especially Marco, are incredibly helpful. Breakfasts are excellent. And the rooms are quiet and light proof -- easy to get a good night's sleep. Nothing I would change or add.
- Harsharan (10/5): - A perfect little hotel in the perfect spot. Easy access to everything - all the spots one would like to visit & great restaurants. The staff are truly wonderful. Can't say enough about the personalized attention & service; something we have not experienced in any of the other places we stayed. Cannot recommend this gem of a hotel highly enough. Perfect!
- Patricia (10/5): - Charming restored townhome in the historic center of Porto. Small, intimate and charming. The staff is first rate. It is not easy to access if you have a car. Ask Staff to help you get your luggage dropped off so you can then park. The slight inconvenience is worth it.
- Mike (10/5): Best of the best! - One of the best hotels we have encountered over the many European trips in the last decade. Can not say enough about this grand hotel. Old time luxury is what they excel in.
- Leslie (4/5): Disappointing - Not good the dining room was of an inadequate size having only 10 spaces, also having to choose what you wanted the night before. Was not what you expect on Holiday The rooms were sold as suites and were just rooms. A suite has seating a table etc. I would not return or recommend to anyone.
- Thomas (10/5): - Excellent staff
- Charlotte (10/5): Exceptional -
- Jessica (10/5): - This is an incredibly special hotel. The service is top notch and the room we had was exceptional. The room has so many details that are beautiful and thoughtful. We were on the 1st floor with a courtyard. If you stay in this room, pay the extra €15 and have breakfast in your room in the courtyard. It is one of our most favorite memories from the trip. On the evening we arrived, our room had a glass of port for me and fresh squeezed oj for my daughter, along with pasteis de nata. When we returned after dinner, we had carafes of water and chocolate truffles. No detail is overlooked. I only hope I can return in the future to enjoy this property again.
