- Halyna (10/5): -
- Lee (5/5): Passable -
- Razak (7/5): Good -
- Chinfen (5/5): Passable - - quiet area
- bathroom is clean - water provided has been there for few days. The staff asked us not to drink but he didn't provide us clean water to drink
- too many mosquito
- Shahrizal (7/5): Good - The room The walkway light is on while the guest is sleeping 😔.
- Normariana (1/5): Bad - nothing much really Not gonna recommend this lodge. When we arrived the staff seems dont have any idea there is guest checkimg in. Offered to pay by cash but he dont know how to do about it and saying he not the staff there. We just crashed for few hours btw. Paid for RM10 wifi but it doesnt reach the room ??!!! so wasted of RM10. checkout at 01.30am and slept just 3 hours there. Bad service, bad lodge. The water heater also not working but no one else was there. not recommended.
- Alexaander (5/5): Passable -
- Nor (10/5): Exceptional -
- Shalini (8/5): nice place to spend if you want to relax in nature - the exterior was well done and pretty, nice garden , dining and open kitchen for use , feels very open and relaxing the mattresses and pillows (quality) need to be upgraded for the price paid
the bathrooms could have been built more wider, as there is actually a lot of space…
- Mazni (7/5): Good - nature shared bathroom
- Nur (10/5): best - the place is strategic-near the main road. since i'm from terengganu and stay a night before heading to cameron next morning. near to RnR lojing and u can feel the "hutan" at this place.
- William (8/5): Reasonable room accommodation, great services, and nice surroundings. - We came here for the rafflesia kerrii trek, and the guides were very knowledgeable, keeping track of 120 or so locations where the rafflesias are so we're much more likely to see blooming rafflesia. The tour/trek even starts at the lodge, where the guide and driver picks you up. The tour is arranged by the lodge, and the price is reasonable if you compare and look up online.
.
The owner and staff were really helpful as well. We arrived without our own transportation (via taxi), so with that came with some unexpected logistical challenges, which were more our own fault for not being aware. The owner and staff tried to help us figure out our transport down the mountain, even considering sending us down with their weekly supplies driver.
.
Oh and they were pretty communicative pre-arrival too when we asked questions via WhatsApp.
If you have the money and the rooms are available, spend literally a $2-3 bucks more for the queen bed room or bigger, don't book the cheapest room, there's more room to move around. We booked very last minute and in a hurry so I didn't notice, but it was still fine.
.
This is one of the perfect places to be in Lojing Highland if you're there for the rafflesia trek (and don't want to drive an hour up very twisty mountain early in the morning), or you just want to enjoy some peace and quiet and nature, AND you have your own transport. Here's some little caveats to be aware of, most of which can be solved by having your own transport. These are all just little things to watch out and prepare for, and NOT the lodge's fault.
.
Room: If you have the money and the rooms are available, spend literally a $2-3 bucks more for the queen bed room or bigger, don't book the cheapest room, there's more room to move around. We booked very last minute and in a hurry so I didn't notice, but it was still fine.
.
Food: The nearest food place is 20 minutes via scooter/motorbike/car. So if you do not have your own food or transport, you'll have to wait until breakfast/lunch/dinner time, and pay a little premium for them because supplies are limited.
.
Internet: It's the middle of nowhere up the mountain, Internet is challenging and expensive for everyone, so Internet is not gratis, and requires payment. I imagine if they made Internet free for everyone they'd have to raise the room prices significantly. Download your shows and whatnot, or just enjoy nature.
.
Payment: They only take cash, which we learned from one of the other reviews. I do wish they'd take card, but I imagine that would raise prices.
.
Location: This is up the mountains in the middle of nowhere, so don't expect city conveniences. The nearest food place is 20 minutes, and ATM is about an hour away. AND if you arrived by taxi, you'll DEFINITELY want to arrange your own way down beforehand as the lodge's contacts may not be available. Just when you arrive at Tanah Rata (down the mountain where most Cameron Highlands activities happen), get all the numbers and quotes from all the taxi drivers at the bus station. We had 2 willing drivers to take us up or down the mountain.
- M.hamza (10/5): Beautiful for a nature enthusiast! Recommended for families, friends and solo travellers - Amazing property up in nearby Lojing Highlands, with an amazing host Ms Billie and her husband, and all the staff are helpful and lovely. Its beside the nature trails and off the beaten paths which makes it extra peaceful for those chasing nature and serenity. Surrounded with farm, and the rooms are basic with necessary needs of shared bathroom, eating areas. A fairly priced wifi is available at the property. Only thing due to its position the wifi is required, if roaming is better in future that d be helpful for those very much in need of being connected to their works and able to stay longer!
- Ck (10/5): A pleasant place for relax - Quiet farmhouse.
Staff are helpful
Plants are well kept and tidy
Environmental friendly Nothing
- Jon (7/5): Very relaxing and suit for resting - Very relaxing All is good and friendly staff
- Hafizah (5/5): Passable - Cleanliness Dogs are allowed to go inside the area of homestay. As we are muslim, we are not comfortable. Pls put a clear signage of your motel so that if customer coming at night easier to locate.
- Harsh (1/5): I HOPE BOOKING.COM takes STERN ACTION AGAINST THIS OWNER AND PROPERTY AND SHUT IT DOWN. NO DESERVE. - NOTHING. Everyone was rude and everything was a complete NIGHTMARE AND BIZZARE. Firstly, when I entered the property and there is no mobile data, hence my SOCAR couldn't not be remotely locked from my mobile app.
Secondly, staffs over there were completely oblivious on their schedules and how many rooms are available. Hence they wasted my 45minutes whereby I could have been in CAMERON HIGHLANDS main City Centre in that 45minutes wasted time.
Thirdly, there is a Bangladeshi staff that was extremely rude and demanded we pay our reservations in cash as online banking or credit card facility is not available. Me & my friend had NO cash on either of us that day and we thought of either pay via credit card OR online banking OR transfer the money to them and they can figure out the following day how to settle with their check-in. Eventually the Bangladeshi staff after 45-minutes decides to tell me to GET-LOST from HIS SUPPOSED property and to find another place.
Out of frustration I did leave the property and directly called the owner expressing my frustration.
Eventually we stayed at the property provided by the owner personally. The room was shabby, it had cockroaches and spider cob-webs and once we did come across a lizard there which made our entire night very uncomfortable. Taken photos and sent to the owner, whereby she did not reply to my messages only she replied for inconvenience given.
- Polkadots (9/5): Superb - I'm in love with the place. It's so peaceful and calm. It's like staying in the middle of the garden. mountain view. fresh air. Birds chirping.
They have rabbits, chickens, friendly dogs and fish ponds
There is a veggie farm at the opposite. Brought home their non pesticides veggies. Freshly plucked on that day itself.
Basic facilities available. Bathroom is shared. Rooms clean. Library. Ping pong table. Camp site. Hammock. Swings
Friendly staffs and lady boss. If you have any problems or questions, they will be there to help you.
They do provide meals at a reasonable price. Can also do BBQ and steamboat too.
For those who can't do without WiFi/ mobile data...well you won't be able to receive mobile network at the lodge but you could use their WiFi with an additional charge or you can just try to walk down to the main road to get your mobile network. Anyhow, I'm ok without internet/telephone. It's like going back to 1900s😆
For those who loves to hike, take a chance to do the jungle track to see Rafflesia kerrii.. it takes about 3 hrs with transport provided. The guide is an orang asli (ingenious people). He and our driver together lead us to places where we can see and explain about Rafflesia's flower buds, blooming and death. Can also get to see wild fruits, flowers, mushrooms, herbs where we have never seen before... The black ants..they are big and they can bite.
- zulkornain b (8/5): COLD WONDERFUL QUIET STAY - just nice to get away from the hectic schedule and world. totally quiet since we are the only guests at the time. So quiet and peaceful. it is quite cold t the time of stay and raning the whole night. Be prepared to bring sustenance or order ahead of time from the lodge.
If you were a SOCMED hardcore can't get away at all from the world's gossip, be prepare since there is no internet/phoneline unless you subscibe to in-house satelitte line @ RM10/1GB.
- Verified traveler (8/5): - Good and happy , thanks ms chan help to prepare anything for us.
- charles (2/5): Quiet place - A good place for escape the busy city because no tv in room, no wifi and cant get mobile operator signal in entire hotel. Good place for test whether you are mosquito attrative type person, if u are just becareful for feeding a lot. Good place if well planning ahead with the hotel, not for walk-in, all activities might need to book at least day ahead. Far from cameron happen place, and please be careful to drive there because road at night is dark and less indicator sign. The only thing i like is the cooling air around.
- Ming (10/5): Moonriver Lodge - Beautiful environment as surroundings and garden are extremely well designed and maintained. Very kid friendly. Suitable for big groups if you drive and like to do some cooking of your own as far from main town.
- Verified traveler (4/5): Terribly unclean rooms filled with mosquitos - Terribly unclean rooms filled with mosquitos with no facilities at all... all night we heard noises and power failed many times during the night. No mobile signals.
There wifi doesn't work.
On the dusty floors they ask you to remove shoes almost everywhere. Good place for a visit and photos but Not a place to spend night.
Cheers!
