Gabriela (10/5): Hermoso lugar para reconectar y viaje en pareja - La ubicación. Estar tan cerca del cotopaxi y ver toda la cadena de volcanes es una experiencia muy única. El personal también fue muy amable y nos ayudó recomendándonos actividades que estábamos inseguros. Teníamos que reservar la cena muy temprano sin saber si íbamos a comer o tener hambre.

Sehr schön angelegter Garten, Tourenangebote. Preis-Leistungsverhältnis nicht korrekt, aber bei unschlagbarer Lage wohl zu bezahlen. Alle Zusatzleistungen, Essen, Tours, Taxi im Preisniveau der Zimmerpreise.
Alexander (10/5): Altamente recomendado - Altamente recomendado 10.10 Me encanto la comida, gratamente sorprendido de la sazon y fue uno de los platos mas ricos que e provado en un sitio turistico, la ducha calentaba de manera excelente y un gran plus es la calidad del WIFI y es que a pesar de no tener señal celular, con wifi era suficiente para comunicarme. La chimenea ayuda muchisimo ya que el sitio es muy frio pero con el calor de la chimenea no sentiras incomodidad alguna. La vista a los 4 volcanes es inmejorable ademas que nos recomendaron visitar el parque nacional cotopaxi y fue la mejor recomendacion ya que pudimos observar varias maravillas naturales!!!

Nyssa (10/5): Unforgettable adventures and beautiful views made easy and comfortable with Chilcabamba Lodge. - EVERYTHING - Comfortable beds with fire place turned on by staff, good steady wifi, beautiful view, the menu wasn’t massive but everything was delicious (let staff know your order and time you’d want to eat), kind and accommodating staff that was easy to contact via WhatsApp or the front desk, great variety of activities you can pick once at the hotel and AMAZING tour guides for certain activities - specifically Gabriel on the Cotopaxi Day Hike he was so incredibly kind and helpful (wear a jacket or poncho, gloves, hat, and hiking shoes + coca mints help - can get dusty and cold so go prepared but there is a store before you go in if you forgot anything) Section of bumpy roads going up but not bad for what it’s worth

Melanie (10/5): just amazing - the setting is really beautiful with amazing views of Cotopaxi. The breakfast was amazing and overall the food was very good. The wooden stove is really cosy but the rooms get cold quite quickly if you dont keep the fire going overnight.
Jillian (8/5): Beautiful lodge in a beautiful location! Definitely worth a stay. - Beautiful property with beautiful views. The rooms are lovely and we all loved the ponchos that were supplied for use. We also appreciated having all meals available at the lodge, which were yummy:) The staff were a bit hands off during our stay. For example, when sitting in the lounge area, no one ever checked on us to see if we needed anything, or if we wanted the fire lit. We had to seek out staff frequently, which makes you feel like a bit of a nuisance.
Valentina (10/5): Magical stay! - Wonderful experience, we got to see the Cotopaxi early in the morning and we were able to horse ride in the National Park. The staff was amazing and food was spectacular. The only downside was our horse ride guide, Rafael, who was very disrespectful and inattentive.
Ashley (10/5): Beautiful and peaceful. Rustic with a touch of luxury - We loved it here! So peaceful and beautiful. The property was cozy and comfortable. The fireplaces in the room were sufficient in staying warm all night. The kitchen staff were super friendly and the food was pretty good. The desk manager oddly didn’t give us a tour of the property even though we watched him do it with every other guest checking in. He also told us there weren’t any kids ponchos but immediately after one of the kitchen ladies brought us one. Not sure why he said that or why he treated us differently? Overall we had a great stay though.

Beds were comfortable and the wood stove kept the room at a comfortable temperature. The dinner and breakfast foods were very good. The rooms were clean and cozy. For all meals the food was good but we could have used more food for breakfast. We were in a family room/suite. Each of the two bedrooms were fine but it would've been better to have a larger and more comfortable shared living room. We couldn't really spend time together in the hotel room as a family.

Adrienne (9/5): Cozy, remote lodge to enjoy Cotopaxi Park - Very friendly and accommodating staff. Excursions booked through hotel were well organized. Beautiful countryside and views of volcano (when not cloudy). Raul our guide for the full day Cotopaxi day trip was amazing! He knew all about the ecosystem and wildlife, and was the perfect amount of engaged but also let us have our own experience. Lennon at the front desk was extremely welcoming and helpful, he made our stay very pleasant. There was no fan in the bathroom, so it got very wet from condensation even with window open. Room got quite cold, there is a fire place that they will light for you but once it burns out you have to stoke yourself. There was no instruction on this so we didn’t feel comfortable doing it ourselves.

Georgina (10/5): Exceptional lodge in the Avenue of the Volcanoes. Stunning view of Cotopaxi from your bed. - Stunning lodge at the foot of Cotopaxi volcano. We had the most special stay here - the front desk is very helpful with tours, guides, transfers. The food is exceptionally good - all home made and delicious with excellent service. Hot drinks available all day, which is needed at this altitude. We enjoyed the BBQ and marshmallows around the fire at sunset. There are woodburners in the rooms, hot water bottles in the beds and log fires in the snug areas of the lodge. A totally unique and special experience - the best in our 3 months in Latin America. The volcano climb and tours are highly recommended with their superb, knowledgeable guides.

Fuqing (10/5): Beautiful stay, lovely dog companion - Beautiful lodge near Cotopaxi. We loved our small wood fireplace in the room. A young gentleman would come to set up the fire everyday. The unplanned highlight of the stay was actually a “stray“ dog. According to the receptionist, the dog does not belong to the lodge but shows up on the lodge property frequently. The dog was there when we checked in. She (we think it’s a girl) somehow indicated to us to follow her. We had no activity planned, so we walked with her. For one hour, the dog led our mini hike and she sure knew the way well in that area. She was so intelligent, peaceful yet playful. It was an amazing experience. Our day and that walk would’ve been boring if the dog weren’t there. My partner was not a fan of dog but still fell deeply in love with her. Seemed other guests, especially solo ones, liked her company too. Staff was all very kind and helpful. Horseriding in the national park was very beautiful, but previous riding experience highly recommended. Lunch menu was a bit too simple. Real empanadas would be a good idea to add on the menu. Like mentioned above, there aren’t much to do in the lodge, especially when the weather was bad. Extra activity would be nice: such as walk with the lodge dog :)

Maxime (10/5): - Very quiet place with great service. The road to get there is not easy! But overall it helped our family relax with a fire place and great accommodation. Strongly recommended as in Ecuador the standards are not always consistent.
Julian (10/5): - The hotel is a little bit challenging to reach. If you don't have an organized transportation, you should rent a SUV, since roads are partly really bumpy. But the place and the hotel are great. It is really quite and cosy. We had a fire place in our room. The food is good. And just after moving to another hotel not to far away we realized how great Chilcabamba was. We would like to come back immediately. We will miss it. So, if you need a nice place to disconnect from the was was world, Chilcabamba could be a good option for you.
Richard (10/5): - We spent two lovely nights at Chilcabamba. It's modern and comfortable, but also has character. The staff are very friendly and helpful. The lodge is in a spectacular setting in the countryside, with direct views of Cotopaxi but also another volcano, Pasochoa. Because of the altitude, the Cotopaxi area gets cool at night but the rooms have wood-burning stoves so stay warm. Chilcabamba also has a nice restaurant and comfortable lounge. Overall a lovely refuge on the fringes of the Cotapaxi national park. We hope to go back.

Nous avons adoré y passer deux nuits en famille et avons pleinement profité des activités sur place: pêche, balade à cheval dans le parc Cotopaxi ( à ne pas manquer), feu de camp avec smores, etc. Le lieu est isolé et l'accès n'est pas aisé sans un véhicule assez haut, mais ça garantie la quiétude et une superbe vue sur le volcan. Repas de qualité, mais assez chers pour le pays. Nous y retournerons sans hésitation!

Marianne (9/5): Great stay close to the Cotopaxi - Loved the location and the cozy lodge-like feel to the property. Jessica at the front desk was especially helpful and welcoming! We wished there were more communal activities like s’mores at night. Also, after the rigorous hiking and biking, a hot tub or sauna would be a great addition.

Michael (10/5): Exceptional - Amazing place near the north gate of Cotpaxi NP. The stay here was a real treat, and we felt really spoilt by the wonderful staff (e.g. finding a fire already lit in our room when coming back in the afternoon). Organising the pick-up from Machachi and a tour into the park (with a great guide) worked very smoothly as well. Food was great too. We loved the view on Cotopaxi from the garden (when it sometimes emerged from the clouds). Be aware that the north side of Cotopaxi NP is really remote and a bit difficult to reach (some of the roads from Machachi are pretty bad). But once you are there, it is wonderfully peaceful and quiet, and the staff were really helpful in organising the transport and a tour into the park.

Tadas (10/5): love love love this place - Our stay at the lodge was absolutely amazing. We loved being in such a remote and beautiful area near Cotopaxi National Park. They offer a lot of tours and excursions but our favorite thing to do was exploring the surrounding areas on our own as well as hiking to a nearby waterfall. The staff was extremely kind, accommodating, and helpful. The food was always fresh and well prepared. We honestly could have stayed here longer and would definitely stay here again. Thanks Jesica, Eduardo, and Jonathan! These are not critiques but things to be aware of prior to booking. The lodge is a bit far out from the main roads and are not paved, I would recommend taking a car with high clearance to and from the property. Dinner is a pre-set menu so I would make note if you are a picky eater. Our room also did not have a dresser or closet so we had to live out of our suitcases during our stay. Also, this is a bit of a premium experience so prices for food and services will be higher what you would expect to pay for this area.

Natasha (10/5): - My husband and I had the most outstanding stay. We stayed for 6 nights in total. Throughout the entire stay we felt so at home. Breakfast was a great quality as was the lunches, boxed lunches for trip days and the evening meals. Our room was super spacious, the fire was delightful and made it really cosy. Jessica helped arrange all our guides for hiking and visiting the Cotopaxi area. I would change nothing and would return again if I ever come back. The views were breathtaking and I don’t think the pictures on here really show how great the lodge is or the views, so you have a delightful surprise ahead of you if you book. We saw hummingbirds around the lodge and had really good local liquors to enjoy by the fire a night.
Louise (7/5): Great staff, a wonderful location, but you’re on your own if you get altitude sickness - Chilcabamba Lodge is a lovely hotel, 45 minutes up a bumpy track from Machachi. The staff are super friendly and the food was simply wonderful (we recommend the in-house cookery session if you have time). There is a 3-course menu but you can chose to have less courses if you want. We stayed in the 2 bed family room for a view of the volcano, however this was only partial due to undergrowth at the border of the property (it would be great if that was pruned back). It was good to have a fire in the room, although we didn’t find the lounge seating very comfortable of an evening. The hotel has no provision for altitude sickness. We had both stayed at a higher elevation in the past and been fine. But on this occasion, we gained 1000m elevation overnight (coming from Quito) and unfortunately my partner suffered from high-altitude periodic breathing. After two difficult nights, and with the prospect of having to go through a third without improving, he decided we needed to leave early and return to a lower elevation, as the hotel had no provision to help with the treatment of altitude sickness (whether coca tea or oxygen). We were so grateful a friend let us know via social media that some hotels in Quito could provide oxygen in your room (for about £20), and moved to the Marriott instead, which looked after us really well. Our guide in Quito and our subsequent hotel in the cloud forest were both shocked at our experience and that Chilcabamba Lodge didn’t provide oxygen for guests.

The lodge is managed very well with a consistent delivery on a high level. Great comfortable rooms with a nice oven that is being put on at 4 pm for you in your room. Great restaurant offering a changing menu of great taste and quality. Very friendly and helpful employees. Clear „go“.

Stefan (10/5): Staying at Chilcabamba Lodge is a great and recommendable experience! - It’s a beautiful and quite comfortable place to stay. I travelled with my family and we booked two rooms, one deluxe room for 2 persons and a Comfort suite for 3 with 2 rooms. Both had a great interior design, comfortable beds, good working fireplaces, and ecological shampoos and body creams. For the breakfast, they served fruits with muesli, bread with homemade jam, eggs, and pancakes (and tigrillo for the second day). The staff was really attentive and polite the whole time. For one day we booked a full day excursion through the national park and the local guide was really attentive and considerate, too, especially with my older parents who had to walk very slowly. Finally, the view to the Cotopaxi volcano is amazing!! Thank you very much, Chilcabamba Lodge! Even though the place is very comfortable and one room in the comfort suite has a small window in the roof, from the arquitectural point of view it would have been great another window in the wall in this particular room. The lodge offers bicycles and it would be great if this service was included.
