Our room was comfortable and had plenty of space, plus a balcony with such a pretty view of the city. The staff were so friendly and accommodating, which really made our stay feel special. I’d definitely stay here again and recommend it to anyone visiting Lucerne!

- connie (6/5): Very hot uncomfortable room - Location and view amazing. No air conditioning in the room. Very hot so could not sleep. If you leave balcony door open there were bugs in the room. Floor fan only moved hot air around and it shut itself off every few hours. Had to get up many times during the night to turn it back on. Front desk staff just shrugged and said Switzerland doesn’t use AC. They need portable AC units in the rooms. Not just a fan.

The size of the room was definitely larger than the others with two French doors leading to the balcony. The bathroom looks newly remodeled. Small shower, could use more than one towel bar and sink stopper to be able to fill sink with water. There is no AC in the hotel but they had a large Dyson fan. The location is close to a lot of boutiques and shopping along quaint cobblestone streets. Overall, we really liked it.

Dyson fan useless, entered room to find balcony doors closed, no air no screen. Remnants of dead mosquito on wall. Told this was nicest room- beautiful view of river & Chapel bridge, very close to train. When asked for robes & slippers told this is not a spa hotel, no shower cap instructed to go to store & buy it. If you are planning a visit in warm weather you will be miserable. I am well travelled but never encountered such rudeness on top of basic things being provided. Even the vouchers for breakfast if you order anything more than continental breakfast which is the only item that comes with unlimited coffee actually means 1 refill you will be charged exorbitantly

It is worth every penny. Additionally, your stay gets your a visitors pass with discounted rates on transport throughout the city. The staff was incredibly helpful and kind as well. We will DEFINITELY be coming back!

- Kellie (6/5): - Positives- Des Alpes Lucerne is in a great location! You can walk to the train station, boats and buses. It is in the center of the food/shopping district and looks out over the iconic bridge. The restaurant is also very good! Negatives- really needs an update, mattresses and pillows uncomfortable. Room layout could be changed to have a bigger bathroom. Right now the shower is a very tight corner unit with handheld shower- not a fan. Furniture was sparse, uncomfortable and outdated. No AC or screens in the windows to keep mosquitoes out. Overall, we enjoyed the view and location, but for the $ would like some comfort as well.

The only negative about the room is the heat doesn’t work that well. I am vegan and unfortunately the restaurant only offers vegetarian options, please consider adding a few vegan options especially for people with allergies! Overall I loved my stay here and I would definitely recommend it to others.

- Lauren (8/5): - This property was in an excellent location! Very walkable and great views. The staff was also very kind. A couple of things that hold this property back is the super small and old elevator that seems like it could give out any minute. Another thing is the stale cigarette smoke that lingered throughout the hotel even with the doors shut and being in an non smoking room. And lastly, instead of breakfast being included they give you a voucher of £18.50 / person to go to their restaurant. It wasn't a bad breakfast but definitely not worth the price they have. Also to note- the bathroom is SO small. It feels like the bathroom is an old closet and they just shoved everything in and called it a day.

It’s just a 5-10 minute walk to plenty of fantastic restaurants, great shopping, and the main train station—making it incredibly convenient for sightseeing and exploring the city. The staff truly stood out during our stay. They were attentive, professional, and friendly, always going the extra mile to ensure we felt welcome and comfortable. It’s clear that the team takes pride in providing excellent service. We’ll definitely be coming back to Des Alpes Luzern in the future, and we won’t hesitate to recommend it to our families and friends. - Craig C (10/5): New look and design in the rooms. - I’ve stayed here many times and you can’t beat the location for visiting Luzern. The hotel as completed renovations on about half of the building and is underway with the rest. Never heard any of the workers or work being done. The new rooms are awesome. The design and cosmetic works are well done. You will enjoy this hotel. Its pricing is great and only an 8 minute walk to the train station.

The hotel is conveniently located near the old town, an area with shops and restaurants, riverside next to the chapel bridge and close to the train station. Breakfast is nice although the ticket system suits them more than the guests IMO. Recommend

- Cai (8/5): - We really enjoyed the property and the area around the hotel! The one thing to improve is the cleanliness for the rooms facing the river or to post notice about these rooms. My wife and I are very sensitive to cigarette smoke, and even though the room was smoking free, the smoke from smokers on ground level was able to get into the room through the window even when it was closed. My wife needed cough medicine because her allergic reaction got very bad. We would return to the hotel at a non river view next time in the future. Other than this, the location is great!

- Verified traveler (8/5): A Memorable Visit to Lucerne - We had a beautiful view over Lucerne over Hotel Des Alpes. Our room was very warm but fortunately we had a table fan. An electric kettle for coffee of tea would have been appreciated. The staff was warm and friendly. The hotel restaurant was excellent both for breakfast and for dinner.

The receptionist made no reply. But, he was correct. No air conditioning and the room are hot. If you open the windows, there are no screens to keep out the bugs.

Best to buy excursions (like boat trips on Lake Lucerne) directly at the pier. The hotel does have an up charge.
- Marcus (2/5): Terrible place to stay! - I spent a little extra money to book a top floor romantic room for our 25th anniversary trip 6 months ago. We were hot & tired when we arrived on August 15, 2024 looking forward to a hot shower & cool room. The room was locked up tight. No air conditioning. It was the worst hotel we stayed at the entire 15 day tour. We couldn’t relax, we hardly slept the entire night. I told the young lady at the front desk the next morning what an awful night we had and we wanted to cancel our second night. She was cocky, stuck up, she only cared about the dollar. She couldn’t care less about our discomfort. She absolutely wouldn’t cancel our second night, (because “our website tells you we don’t have air conditioning” (no matter that I booked it 6 months ago!) They’re website certainly did not take the time to explain that the high floors facing south get beat with the hot August sun! This is an awful place to stay during the hot summer months! And awful customer service skills by the hot shot young lady! Disclaimer: There was a senior hostess at the counter when I requested to cancel our second night. She offer me two extra meal vouchers. I do appreciate her effort for customer satisfaction.

- Cayla (6/5): - The hotel is in the heart of the city and very walkable. The staff were friendly and helpful. The restaurant was delicious and the vouchers were generous enough to cover a hearty breakfast. But I would encourage anyone considering a stay to head others’ warnings about the hotel temperature. It is *unbearably* hot inside the rooms in the summer. While opening doors is possible, we found that rooms with a bridge view receive direct sunlight and were quite noisy at night. I wished I had booked elsewhere. That being said, I can see how staying here in other seasons would be a comfortable and convenient experience.

The location is walking distance to the Lion Monument, shops, restaurants and the train station. We were able to leave our luggage after checkout to explore the town.
