Guest Reviews
- Bob (10/5): Beach views - The Marginal Way House was lovely. Perfect location, old world beach charm
- Mary E (10/5): - Nice, very clean hotel overlooking water. Walking distance to everything i.e. Perkins Cove, Marginal Way and restaurants. The room was very pretty and the bathroom was immaculate. We were on the 3rd floor which were very steep stairs ( 2 flights that curved). This was manageable for us but if you have any physical limitations I would ask which floor you will be on. It may be difficult for some to carry luggage up the 2 flights. The hotel did not offer free coffee due to the pandemic. It was very difficult to find coffee places open while we were there. Maybe the hotel could have it on an outside table on the covered porch.
- Verified traveler (10/5): - I loved our room, was very quaint.. I especially loved sitting in the Adirondack chairs enjoying the ocean.
- Verified traveler (10/5): - Location! Grounds are beautiful, with amazing gardens attracting hummingbirds. We often occupied two adirondacks in photo!
- Verified traveler (10/5): - Clean very quiet and sitting by the ocean was so relaxing. You can walk to all the great restaurants and shops in downtown ogunquit. Would definitely stay here again
- Verified traveler (10/5): Beautiful rooms! - The rooms are spacious, bright and airy. Incredible accommodations for the price! Parking is a little tight and one inconsiderate guest can throw the whole place into disarray. We will definitely stay again!
- Peter (8/5): Nice Stay - Very comfortable, recently renovated and done very well, people were very friendly and professional. Would recommend to everyone!!
- Verified traveler (8/5): - What a wonderful location. We very much enjoyed watching the ocean. The rooms are comfortable and well maintained. The property is very nice but does have a lot of rules that are not disclosed in the property listing.
- Verified traveler (8/5): - Great location just off the town center. Nice, clean room, generally very quiet (but quite noisy with heavy rain hitting the in-window A/C unit during a nighttime rainstorm, fortunately only one night of that). Reception & room cleaning service were both very good. I would definitely stay there again.
- Londa (10/5): - Great location
Close to everything . Shopping, restaurants, marginal way/cliff walk
- Lea (10/5): - Quaint and clean room right on the beach. It was wonderful to sit on the porch and see the ocean. A short walk to the Marginal Way path and also to shops and restaurants. I will absolutely stay here again!
- Louise (10/5): Perfect spot! - Hotel location was perfect and the view from our balcony was breathtaking. The shower was the size of a walk in closet and had a huge tiled bench in it was assistance in leg shaving. I would have liked a newer mattress that didn’t have a spring pop up when you got out of bed or moved around. The only other thing is the air conditioning unit was set and couldn’t move up or down it was 84 degrees out and stuffy in the room. The remote acted like you had control over the temp , but in fact, it wasn’t true. The room also had a microwave oven, a coffee maker, and a small fridge.
Overall, we loved this location and hotel and with a few minor details upgraded, we would have given it a five in everything. We will definitely return to this hotel thogh, maybe in the spring.
- Sandra (10/5): A Perfect Place to stay in Ogunquit - September is such a nice time in Ogunquit. The tourists are minimal and the Marginal Way Inn is the perfect place to stay. My room on the third floor of the main house had an ocean view and was simply lovely bathed in white with vintage furniture and accessories. Sitting on a wicker chair sipping the coffee on the porch in the morning while overlooking the lovely gardens and ocean was a great way to get the day started. Restaurants are only a short couple blocks away, so finding the obligatory blueberry pancakes for breakfast was not a problem. You are steps away from the bridge to the beach and on the Marginal Way itself. Parking is easy and the staff are very helpful and pleasant.
- Richard (8/5): Relaxing - Very nice Ocean setting. Great eating options.
- Verified traveler (10/5): - A beautiful setting, with clean and bright rooms! The decor was charming and the bed was soooo comfy!
- Jean (8/5): - Location is great just off of everything, beach, marginal way and restaurants. Some building extension appears quite recent. Room is large wand well loaded with equipment. However, they did not bother much with room to room sound insulation, next door and upstairs. But this appear to be quite common in Ogunquit in general.
- Frank (10/5): Nice! - Location is fantastic. The room was clean and comfortable. This establishment represents good value.
- Verified traveler (8/5): - Great location right on the water with views and quiet. One block from the downtown, close to the public beach and Marginal Way Walk.
- Verified traveler (8/5): - Perfect location plenty of shops and restaurants close by all walkable nice comfortable chairs on lawn for viewing ocean. Comfortable beds and very clean. Coffee pot but had to provide own coffee if wanted before 7:30.
- Verified traveler (10/5): - It was wonderful - the views were great and the room was perfect.
- Verified traveler (10/5): Beautiful views - Beautiful property, very friendly staff, excellent location. We will certainly return!
- Serge (10/5): situation exceptionnelle - Localisation extraordinaire, directement sur le bord de la mer et à distance de marche du centre-ville.
Intérieur récemment rénové, très propre.
Personnel courtois
- Jim & Sue (10/5): Nice Ocean side hotel. -
We had a warm friendly greeting. Clean and well kept.
An atmosphere that brings you back to the 40's /50's.
Beautiful ocean view and a short walk to the center of town and shops. Very close to the Marginal Way entrance. Will repeat next year.
- Geriann Fermi and (10/5): Happy Stay! - I was very pleased with the accommodations especially being on the ground level in the carriage house. The space was large, comfortable & with the best location between the beach & shopping district. You won't even have to use your car with everything being within walking distance.
- JoAnn (10/5): perfect getaway - Awesome location! We loved the grounds especially relaxing the porch as we gazed at the ocean. We had a great time and are looking forward to staying again. Our room was fresh, clean, and comfortable. A great value.
- Diane (8/5): Great location - We only stayed one night but it was a great stay. Easy to walk to the beach and the marginal way . The woman running the office the day and night we were there was wonderful. So busy ,yet she went out of her way to make sure everyone was happy. Beautiful views and cute room. Would definitely stay there again.
- joey (8/5): Nice - Great weekend got my wife and myself. Close to shops and food. Marginal Way
- George (10/5): Couldn't have asked for more! - We stayed in the Wharf building which was a suite. Brand new everything! Great view of the water off the deck.Parked once and walked everywhere, couldn't get a better location to stores, restaurants and the beach.
- Verified traveler (8/5): - We were looking for place with a water view. The Dockside facility in which we stayed was perfect, the water being about 10 feet from our door. It was fun to have a close view of the changing tide.
- renato (10/5): Very clean room. - when my wife and I rent hotel rooms we bring our own cleaning supplies. We clean the bathroom, the kitchen, remotes etc. We did with this room but it wasn't really necessary. We couldn't even find dust in the room. The location is also great. Right in the middle of things.
- Verified traveler (10/5): A great choice - A wonderful clean hotel right in the village. We parked our car and never had to get in it again. The rooms are nicely decorated and are modern but tasteful. The beach is just a short walk away.
- Karen (10/5): favorite place to stay in Ogunquit - Marginal Way Hotel was by far the best place to stay in Ogunquit. I stayed at other hotels during previous stays and will never want to stay anyplace else. Centrally located within walking distance to all of what downtown offers including shops and dining. Easy walk to Ogunquit beach and the Marginal Way. My room had just been renovated with lovely furnishings including a refrigerator and microwave. Can't wait to book my next trip at this hotel!
- Verified traveler (10/5): The sound of the waves.... - The sound of the waves to lull you to sleep. Gorgeous view from the lawn and porch. Small fridge in closet. Comfy bed with comfy bedding. Simple, clean room. Right in town for easy walking. A close drive to nearby towns and cities. The only thing I would recommend is nicer towels (a bit on the small and thin side for the price of the hotel), and the parking could be a bit tight if you have a larger vehicle.
- Verified traveler (10/5): Gorgeous View! - Location, location, location! Breathtaking view from our room in the Dockside Building. Definitely plan to to return, soon!
- Melissa (8/5): - Awesome area, great restaurant within walking distance (Five 0 Shore Road), beautiful location with Ocean front. Only complaint was with the lack of soundproofing in the carriage house. The people above us sounded as if they were in our room. They were up at 6am running back and forth across the room, then wearing high heels, click-clacking across the room. Very disruptive. They must not have insulated while constructing the building, as it was abnormally loud. Other than that, it was a great spot.
- Verified traveler (10/5): Fabulous Stay at this wonderful hotel - Don't miss staying at this Amazing hotel.
Views, location, Ian in the office so helpful
10 Thumbs up!
- tim (10/5): - We had a great time. Great staff. Right next to
Beach. Very homey feel.
- Verified traveler (10/5): Beautiful grounds! The view is worth everything!! - The location of this hotel is everything! It is so quaint and the grounds are beautiful, even saw the gardener out there both days tending to the flowers. The front lawn had about 4 tables with umbrellas set up. Saw many people grab a pizza and have dinner there...with the view right in the backyard you can see why!! You don't have to leave the hotel! The view is amazing, you are so close to the river it feels as if you are on it, and can see straight out to the ocean and cliffs of Marginal Way! Our room was in the Main House and was on the 3rd floor with an oven view! Room was small but all we needed. The climbing of 2 flights of stairs wasn't a ton of fun...but I thought of it as extra exercise to burn off all the delicious food and drinks Ogunquit has to offer! The two women we spoke with while checking in were so friendly and sweet!! Such a nice way to start of your vacation!! We parked our car at the hotel...we got there early and asked if we could park and go to the beach before check in. The lot is small but they figured out where they could put us! Then it is a short walk down the footpath and over to the beach!! Location is also everything you are in the center of everything! I wild love to go back again!!
- Solange (6/5): Cute little guestroom in a beautiful location - The Marginal Way House was extremely well located only a 5min walk from the beach, 20 minutes walk from Perkins Cove and 5 mins walk from all shops and other restaurants. The room we had, 109, was located in the main house and was very little, but comfortable. The hosts were really kind and cared a lot about making our stay perfect.
- K-Man (10/5): Antique Beach Home - Very Close 2 The Ocean..Very Old Appointed Archetype...Some What Victorian Revival....I Like Old Stuff Not Unlike Scotch....Our Room Was very Spacious & Windows..Private Deck With Aunning...Remarkable...Unpacked Everything Aroma of the Ocean
- hugo (10/5): Cozy place - The place is beautiful with a gorgeous room and a great front desk personnel ready to help if needed. The only minus, the room was too light in the night because the main door has a glass door with clear curtains, making the night quite bright! The WiFi, though free, was terrible, but if you don't need it, is a plus to forget the outside world. Nice and gentile front personnel.
- Chris (10/5): Perfect location. In the center of all activities - Staff were very friendly , I wanted a place to get away for the night. Close to beaches and nightlife . This place covered those requirements . It was a treat to have an older style building with a huge porch to watch the ocean while a passing shower came thru .
- Verified traveler (8/5): Charming old place. - Perfect location for short walk to beach and town.
Room 103 (3) is nice but no view and low ceilings. Bathroom could use a renovation.
But overall, a nice place at a reasonable rate (for Ogunquit)!
- Rich (10/5): Quiet place, but close to the action. - This trip was made great by the accommodations. Staff, cleanliness, and location could not be better. Short walk to beach, shops and restaurants. Park you car and walk to everything, or drive short distance to Wells or even York.
We would definitely book this hotel again. Thank you for making our short vacation memorable.
