The room was very comfortable and welcoming, carefully prepared with great touches like biscuits and chocolate! The adjacent restaurant is equally great, the staff were very attentive and knowledgeable. The meals were absolutely scrumptious, to die for! And with special rates for families during the school break! Breakfast didn't disappoint either, with some ingredients locally sourced! Highly recommended

- GJD77 (10/5): Beautiful Inn, Exceptional value. - Really lovely rooms with a very comfortable bed, fantastic big bath, and all the amenities you would expect from such a nice establishment. I loved the decor, rustic country cottage style with some modern touches, really tastefully done.
Alongside their wonderful restaurant and bar, you're very much on to a winner if you choose to stay here. I suspect their events are just as good if the rest is anything to go by.
It's also really really reasonably priced, and would be a perfect base for exploring wider Cheshire, as well as nearby Wrexham, and would be a great choice to visit Chester from as well, but avoid the exorbitant prices there. I personally just stayed for one night on a business trip, but will definitely return at the next opportunity, hopefully for leisure this time.
To be quite honest, they really have no business being this well priced based on the overall quality of everything here, but I'm glad they do make it affordable, as it's accessible luxury and indulgence that can be enjoyed by the many.
- Serena (9/5): Soggiorno molto piacevole - Bellissima struttura dall’aspetto tradizionale ma anche con dettagli moderni, molto curata. Staff gentilissimo, ristorante buono per la cena come anche per la colazione. Camera spaziosa e pulita.

- William (9/5): Comfy beds, tasty food, all that you need🤘🏻 -
- Julian (9/5): - Rooms are ground level, lovely food and great service.
- barry (9/5): - Excellent breakfast, friendly staff. Nice welcoming place & it was very clean. Pillows could be better.
- Daniel (10/5): -
- David (9/5): Excellent stay, top marks all round. - Breakfast was excellent. We were upgraded to the honeymoon suite which was a nice touch. Very clean. Bed was comfortable albeit a bit high which was easily rectified by provision of a small stool. Apart from a high bed, nothing really.
- Mary (10/5): Family favourite - It was our second time to stay and it was as good as our first visit. Rooms are clean and spacious. Restaurant serves good food and very cosy. It’s our go to when visiting Bewilderwood and Ice Cream farm. Very accommodating staff and chef, kid friendly and safe. Nothing
- Paul (10/5): - We stayed for 3 nights and will unquestionably be returning. All staff were so attentive, professional and friendly. After a long streesful for few days culminating in our house move finalising earlier in the day, we ate in the restaurant that eveniong. The food and atmosphere was so good we changed our plans and instead, also ate in the restaurant the following day and this time, we had the guests with us who we were supposed to be meeting elesewhere!!
- Paul (10/5): A lovely stay. - Lovely room, very friendly staff.
Cafetière with freshly ground coffee in the room was a nice touch.
Delicious Breakfast.

- Nicky (7/5): Very comfortable, a bit more than we'd usually pay for 1 night away but the location was excellent. - The room was nicely decorated with shortbread provided with the tea & coffee which was a nice touch. The beds were comfortable and even with a put up bed for my daughter there was enough room for 3 of us. The automatic lighting in the bathroom was handy too and the heated mirror was a nice touch though I didn't use the bath/shower in order to make it steamy. The pub had a band playing in the evening but being quite a way away we weren't disturbed at all, had they not informed us there was an event on we wouldn't have been aware. We ate in the restaurant and the food was lovely, service was good and we enjoyed the meal very much. I had to leave before breakfast started but the chefs packed me a breakfast box with some fruit and croissants which I was very grateful for, thank you for being so accommodating. My family enjoyed the breakfast very much and said the sausages were really tasty! The wall behind the bed was very dusty. The bathroom floor had not been hoovered before it had been mopped as there was a little pile of bits in the corner behind the door. The outer door to the set of rooms didn't close easily and was left/blown open (it was very windy that night) which then was blowing the loft hatch/door etc which disturbed me in the night. The rooms were not so well soundproofed, I could hear the nextdoor guests phone ringtones through the wall. Luckily the guests themselves were very quiet but the doors banging when they entered/exited was very noisy.
- Neil (7/5): Overall We found it good apart from lack of sleep due to all the noise - Our breakfast was excellent, the service was good. The staff were helpful and friendly. When we booked our room we were not told Octoberfest was taking place at the venue. We found this very noisy especially when the people in the room next door we're shouting and banging about until the early hours.
- Rebecca (9/5): - Location beautiful
Staff one word perfection Mattress had a slight slope
- Clare (6/5): Nice building, lovely staff and some thoughtful touches but a little sloppy in execution - Thoughtful. Proper coffee and biscuits in the rooms. Sustainable toiletries. Lovely staff. Nice building / decor Bed a little uncomfortable where it was 2 beds pushed together. Inadequate sound proofing between the rooms. Some dusty corners and a little stained grout and cracking in bathroom - for the price I don’t expect that. WiFi password in the bedroom would be helpful.
- Pauline (6/5): - Nice room and breakfast was good but i stayed for work and wanted somewhere with a restaurant. I clicked that option on Hotels.com and they do have a restaurant but it was not open on Mondays so effectively no restaurant. If Id known this I would not have stayed there as I do not like to have to go out again to find a meal after a long journey.
- MoveMyBike (10/5): - Excellent value for money. Lovely team members and great food. -
- sarah (10/5): - Lovely rooms, comfortable bed, peaceful nights sleep.
Great breakfast included
- RICHARD (8/5): Well worth a stopover at the price quoted. - We enjoyed our breakfast, staff service and the warm comfy room No downsides, did the job.
- vincent (6/5): -
- Sue (7/5): An ideal stay for the purpose our journey - It was easy to find, the room was good and breakfast was adequate The proximity of the room to where families were sitting and not supervising their rowdy children!! We had just driven up from Kent
- Matthew (10/5): -
- Tina (10/5): Such amazing value for money. All staff were amazing, thank you for making our stay so special. - Everything, can’t wait to go back. The Sunday dinner, wow, best I’ve ever had. Staff were awesome, well done to you all. Having to leave.
- Neil (9/5): - Friendly and efficient service, outstandingly good food.
- C (9/5): Lovely stay. would reccommend and stay again - Lovely clean modern but traditional. Menus were great and food tasty. Good WiFi and pleasant staff. Rooms were spacious and nicely decorated. Nice to have a bath and shower. Nothing
- Bev (9/5): Lovely rooms, food disappointing. - Beautiful clean modern rooms.
Nice touches. Quiet, peaceful and comfortable.
Amazing Breakfast !! Evening meal very disappointing. Poor menu choices.
I chose salmon. Came with hard undercooked potatoes.
Waitress swapped them for chips but by the time they arrived I'd eaten the salmon and peas.
We were both really disappointed in the food.
I ordered a Pimms but it was poorly presented. Just 2 hard pieces of dried fruit and a load of ice in it. More suited to a bowl of pot pouri !
Service was very good though.
Would definitely stay here again but would eat elsewhere.
- Erez (9/5): -
- nigel (10/5): - Really polite efficient place Nothing i can recall
- Helen (6/5): Overall, the stay was disappointing due to cleanliness issues, despite friendly staff and greatfood - The staff were exceptionally friendly, and the breakfast was delicious. The pub and restaurant were beautifully decorated, modern, and spotlessly clean. Bathroom cleanliness was poor: mould around the shower and toilet, hairs left behind, dirt around the toilet base, and in the sink. Water did not drain properly. The bedroom was generally dusty, including inside the cupboard drawers. There was also insufficient hanging space
- richardcE3657VO (10/5): Another great stay over at one of our favourite little gems !! - Another great stay over at one of our favourite little gems !!
We discovered this place a few years ago, its lovely.
The staff are amazing, couldn't do enough for us !
It has such a warm, friendly atmosphere and the food is first class !
The breakfast is to die for !! Definitely the best breakfast we have ever had in a hotel !!
Can't wait to go back later in the year with friends.
Highly recommend.
- Tom (10/5): Perfect - The room was clean and tidy
Was a last minute booking but wasn’t a problem at all. Nothing to not like about the cock o Barton. Friendly staff, clean room, clear amazing !! Didn’t have brekkie as was leaving early
- Marcus (8/5): -
- Athena (8/5): Nice stay - Lovely room with a big comfy bed. Breakfast was nice aswell in the morning and good value for money. The walls in the rooms were very thin as we could hear one rooms TV and then another couple on the other side in bed.... Very loudly.
- Amy (10/5): Perfect escape, wonderful place and the staff are amazing! - Clean, modern, nice touch with fresh coffee and biscuits Nothing
