- Nancy (1/5): Wouldn’t be back - The property looked nice it we didn’t stay to enjoy it There was pubic hair allll over the toilet and my 4 year old used it before we noticed it I was so upset we had to Chex out right away and find something else the room was very dark and obviously dirty wish we still had the picture we took to show the front desk of how much jar was in the toilet. It was also hot no a/c the only ventilation was a cracked window we went up the street to fireplace inn and had a wonderful stay there

The location is perfect — right across from Moonstone Beach with beautiful ocean views and relaxing coastal vibes. The property is peaceful, clean, and beautifully landscaped, making it a great place to unwind. What I loved most was how relaxing and charming the whole place felt. Can't wait to comeback to this place again!

- U8834DLelisem (10/5): Wonderful weekend getaway - It was a great location with access to the beach. The property was perfect with tons of activities. My husband and I stayed in a king suite with a fire place, I live the fire kit you get for every night you stay. Saturday was very windy so I took advantage of the heated swimming pool. It was great for the price the room was clean and the bed was comfortable. They did have a wedding Saturday night and the bass from the music was a little loud. Our room was far enough away that it didn’t disturb us. It’s a beautiful place to get married. I love that there are look out spots across the street at the state park and beach access! Overall it was one of the best weekends I’ve had in a very long time. A wonderful getaway. See you again Ocean Point Ranch

Staff was not knowledgeable about the area either. The room was nice. Cool tub. Fireplace with fire kit provided. No AC. Found a hairball on the bench near tub.

- wallyronaldy (4/5): Poor choice - There was no one there to check us in on a Friday evening at about 8:30 - gone to lunch?! Then the second night we were there we had an infestation of ants all over the dresser and the things we had placed there. I have attempted to contact them 3 times for some resolution to this and have never even received a call back. We were very sad since this was a return trip that we planned to make an annual event. We will find somewhere else to stay - lots of choices.

Reserved room not available for two days, no ironing board/iron or microwave, walk-in shower had dangerous metal and sharp step and door frame-I got bad bruising hitting fingers on metal frame door. Toilet was very low with no grab bars available. Shower had no grab bars. Coffeemaker very cheap. No designated dog runs even tho we had to pay a pet fee.

The room was comfortable and clean, even the pillows were actually really nice. We also really enjoyed making s’mores at the fire pits outside- they sell s’more kids at the front desk. I will happily stay there again.

The hotel is comfortable and quiet, away from the other waterfront inns but still close enough for easy access to restaurants.

Place was a complete joke, the front desk clerk and manager refused to refund our money when we were terrified to stay in this place. We stopped on a whim going up north. My wife and I left, as there are other places to stay at and we had a great experience elsewhere. They are that hard up to keep our money. Better to just go elsewhere and not deal with the drama. Complete RIP off of money. Might want to make sure the carpets are not wet and no one else is in your room first before you pay. Never have we ever encountered such BS.

It was nice to be able to open it up and get some fresh air. It did have a wood burning fireplace but we didn't mess with it. It was a very dark room. Poor lighting and the sliding door didn't bring in much light.

- V6033FKjims (2/5): Be Aware of Bugs - Unfortunately I would not recommend this hotel to anyone! We booked a 4 night stay beginning on a Thursday, we checked in around 5 and dropped our luggage in the room and freshen up. We saw what looked like a little dust on the bed but brushed it off the bed and then went to dinner and drinks. We returned late to go to bed and found more "dust" on the bed but upon closer examination it turned out to be small black ants falling from the ceiling. We went to the front desk and told them and they gave us another room to move to and stated with the warm weather they were coming out early. We went to the new room and found that there were ants in there also. We checked the other hotels on Moonstone Beach and found nothing available so we had to drive back into San Luis Obispo for the night. We were able to get a second night in Solvang but had to return home on Saturday since there were no pet friendly rooms available. We used our points to pay for the original room and the staff said that it shouldn't be an issue to get a refund but the management has been fighting my bank and will not refund the first night. This is not very professional and a bit shady.

- Cheryl (10/5): Oceanpoint Ranch large property with fun games & heated pool. - The Oceanpoint Ranch is located across from Moonstone Beach and a short drive from Hearst Castle. The property is surrounded by beautiful coastal cypress trees and landscaped throughout. The heated pool, club house with games and lawn areas with lawn games & firepits was great. Our room was comfortable with a patio overlooking the pool. We will definitely return again, next time we are on the central coast. N/A

- TylerB8928 (2/5): Don't book through a third party...or here at all! - I had two confirmed reservations at Oceanpoint Ranch for March 7–9 and March 8–9. The second room was for my in-laws. After driving six hours to the property, we were informed at check-in that the March 8–9 reservation had been cancelled without any notice. There was no phone call, no email, and no explanation provided ahead of arrival. I then spent over two hours on the phone with the third-party booking platform trying to determine what happened. They confirmed both verbally and in writing that they did not cancel the reservation. Despite this, the hotel maintained that the issue originated from the third-party service and advised this is why they recommend booking through them directly. This left me stuck between two parties, each pointing to the other, with no clear accountability while I was trying to resolve the situation in real time. I had also called the hotel on February 18 to confirm both reservations in advance, which makes the lack of communication even more frustrating. After being told the hotel was sold out, I was forced to search for alternative accommodations, only to later find that Oceanpoint Ranch had a room available online. I had to book that room myself at a significantly higher rate, despite asking the front desk to notify me if anything opened up. It's convenient that on a sold out night my discount third party booking was cancelled. Maybe so they could resell the room at a higher rate? While the hotel eventually provided a credit that covered the price difference, it did not address the time spent resolving the issue, the stress after a six-hour drive, or the embarrassment caused to my in-laws. Based on this, I had no plans to leave a review. What was most surprising, however, was the final response from management. After escalating the issue to corporate due to the lack of resolution, I was informed that I would no longer be allowed to make future reservations at the property because of the “conflict” created by raising this concern. To be fair, the general manager was professional and responsive. However, at no point was I rude or unprofessional to any staff member including the front desk. I'd be happy to post any part of our correspondence. I am sharing this experience so future guests are aware that: Confirmed reservations may be cancelled without notice Even when a third-party platform confirms they did not cancel, responsibility may still be unclear Guests may be required to resolve issues themselves upon arrival Available rooms may not be communicated by staff Raising a legitimate concern may result in being told you are no longer welcome This was not the level of service I expected, and I hope this feedback helps others make a more informed decision. I fully anticipate detailed response from management for visuals.

The room was hot when we got there and there's no AC so we opened all the windows, which helped with the cool ocean breeze. The toilet paper holder was loose.

- joshuagY1812TW (2/5): Expect noise and a sleepless night - Lovely location, but I was not able to sleep at all during my one-night stay. My room had a shared door to another room, and I could hear very loud snoring and conversations throughout the entire night. The walls are extremely thin — you can hear everything from neighboring rooms. I reported the issue to the front desk during the night and was told they were “sold out” and could not move me. The only solution offered was a fan to drown out the noise. When I went to request it, I was then told they didn’t actually have one available. I explained that I booked this stay specifically to get a good night’s rest after traveling, and asked about a refund. I was told to follow up with the manager. After doing so, I was only offered a $50 credit toward a future stay. When speaking with the front desk, I was told the walls are very thin and that the bed in the adjacent room is positioned directly next to the shared door — so this does not appear to be an isolated issue. Unfortunately, the basic expectation of a hotel stay — being able to sleep — was not met. I would not stay here again.

- Tracy (9/5): - Loved the decor - they drew from the cattle ranches in the area. First hotel EVER where they had bath sheets, not little tiny towels. So nice!!! Price was reasonable and they have fun outdoor spaces for families and friends traveling together with corn hole, fire pits and a pool. I'd definitely go back. Very few materials about local activities. Shower was odd with a hand held shower head that kept poking my back because it was on the back wall of the shower. No chairs in the room for seating so had to sit on the bed.

- jayn586 (4/5): Cold and Old--The Big Chill Oceanpoint Ranch Style - My wife and I planned a romantic weekend at the ranch and it was sad mistake. Ownership simply painted the pig as Oceanpoint is unfortunately an incredibly expensive, antiquated motel that has a nice exterior paint job. The rooms are dated with an odd Western theme with small, uncomfortable bathrooms and tight tub showers. The wall heaters are particularly old and inefficient so be prepared to keep your clothes on when you head to bed if there is a cold snap which is definitely not very romantic until the room finally heats up and you strip down. What is particularly disconcerting is Oceanpoint's practice of keeping the windows in the room open so the fumes from the cleaning solvents can dissipate over the course of the day and the evening. So if it is cold outside, it will be cold inside. When we arrived around 10 pm, we were ushered to our walk-in freezer of a guestroom and we immediately went to work shutting the windows and turning on the heater which of course did not work. We then changed rooms and thankfully the second room had a working heater which took close to an hour to heat the room up. Ultimately, it took us a couple of hours to get settled and comfortable. The second night was no different with another night in a cold room that had to be warmed up. So the choices is fumes vs. cold with neither being an appropriate option at the price point that the motel charges. We shared our concerns with management and they ignored them. Hopefully you won't make the same expensive and uncomfortable mistake we made unless you like it cold and old.

It’s updated but you can tell it’s an older building. The bed was comfortable but could use newer pillows. There wasn’t a closet in our room or an iron, which was disappointing. No air conditioning but plenty of windows for fresh air. The bathroom was okay, could use better lighting and a fan, and a bigger shower. We were somewhat disappointed in the room for the price. Also, could smell smoke from the neighbors next to us. We probably won’t return.

- Maps260955 (10/5): Definitely Reserving Again - The only sound was the faint crashing of waves. It's pitch back at night except for the string of patio lights over the courtyard which has a mini gazebo, multiple fire pits surrounded by 4 huge wooden lawn chairs. You have to buy the s'mores kit but they provide the long skewers. On the other end of the gated court yard there are 2 cornhole games, a large tic-tac-toe and horseshoes. At the end of the complex there is another gated area with additional fire pits, lights and beautiful green grass that I walked in on my way back from the beach barefoot multiple times. The room attendants are quick and polite. The rooms were clean and the beds were huge. It gives modern farmhouse vibes which matches the serenity of the area. Our room had 2 queen beds and is definitely room for just 2 adults. It was literally in walking distance to 2 different areas of the beach where we watched the sunrise almost every morning, the state park and the boardwalk. The only time I drove was to go to Linn's but if you love walking, you won't need to drive except to go home. Seriously. The staff has an information chalk board in front of the courtyard where they update the sunset times. I thought that was a sweet note. There is a game room and that is where we had to use the microwave. They are not provided in your room but there is a mini fridge in your room. For the amenities, the price is right. We've stayed at other places over the years on the same street because I like watching the waves from the balcony or windows but I'm no longer interested in that. This place store my heart!

- 362careyl (8/5): Nice place for families, especially. - The hotel is located on Moonstone Beach Drive, about as far down the road as you can go. It is across from the beach, which is accessible by a trail maintained by the hotel staff. To get to the boardwalk, you must cross the road and the bridge over the creek/river. We were in a standard king room (#102). If we were to stay there again, I would definitely want to upgrade a bit because the room is small, there is only 1 table with a lamp, and the bathroom space was reminiscent of Italy (especially the size of the shower. The hotel property has many nice amenities that make it great for families: There is cornhole, ring toss, firepits, etc. There is also an onsite breakfast "restaurant" which we didn't use, because is it closed on Monday and Tuesday. Because the hotel is further down the road from most of the hotels, the road noise is limited, which is nice. Hotel staff are very friendly and helpful.

The grounds and gardens are clean and well kept. Right across the street from the ocean with awesome views of the sunset. Loved the fire pits. Our bedspread was heavy and kept sliding off the bed! Other than that minor thing, nothing!

Everything, from the ranch decor to the in-room fireplaces and cozy fire pits scattered around the grounds and the dog-friendly atmosphere—reminded me of the rustic ranch-type motels I stayed in with my parents as a kid, in the best possible way. The rooms were comfortable, clean, and near a path to the beach. The restaurant served good, hearty breakfast food to eat in or have delivered to the room. There is a pool and a game room. We’ve already booked our return trip. I loved the location of the cabin room but we wanted to try a room with a full kitchen so we’ve booked the Rodeo Suite, but I’m not sure if it’s located nearer to the rooms by the pool and courtyard, so I’m having second thoughts.

The Hotel is located at the end of Moonstone Beach Drive and less congested than the other hotels on the road. Beach access was a short walk and the a walk along the ocean on the boardwalk is a great plus.

We had stayed at Castle Inn last year which was nice but the fireplace and room decor was a really great upgrade. We loved the oceanfront property and the fire pits. We hope to make this our regular spot each year and hopefully we can come when the restaurant next door is open. Our only regret is not being able to stay longer. Thank you OP Ranch!
