- bristolbird5 (10/5): Paradise love this place - Stayed here in November for 11 nights lovely small friendly hotel staff make this hotel so special it’s right near the airport so great location the hotel pick u up and drop u off which was a bonus the rooms were lovely and clean and had everything we needed
The pool is a great place to relax plenty of sun beds
The hotel puts on a shuttle to and from the beaches pigeon point was our fav beach it’s the best beach we’ve ever seen! So ended up there most days
We hired a car for our stay so we could see the island best thing ever found some amazing beaches and view points visited and fed the humming birds the whole island is lovely they drive on the same side as the uk so very easy for us to get around! It’s a very safe island as a tourist some great places to eat and drink catch the sunset and some rum punch
We stayed bed and breakfast and the only negative was the breakfast which we spoke to the owner about and hopefully this will be changed by the time we visit again! They seemed to run out of food most days and the selection was very limited but it wasn’t a big problem as found other places to eat
All in all this hotel is a hidden gem in paradise every person we met was so kind happy and friendly we can’t wait to return
We loved George the bar man hope he’s still there working we loved spending time at the bar with him hearing his story’s what a great character and an asset to the hotel!
This was a perfect hotel big well done to everyone who works there and the effort they make to make a stay here such fun!
- anncU3049NF (10/5): Comfortable Stay with Cheerful Service at Shepherd’s Inn - Shepherd’s Inn in Tobago is a great choice for a relaxed and comfortable stay. The rooms are simple and clean, with everything you need for a pleasant visit. I appreciated having a refrigerator in the room, which made it easy to keep drinks and snacks cold. The staff are very cheerful and genuinely helpful, always ready with a smile. There’s a lovely pool on site that’s perfect for cooling off after a day out. The restaurant on property is convenient and makes dining easy. The garden rooms are close to the pool yet surprisingly quiet, offering the best of both convenience and calm.
- Sightseer21858989638 (10/5): Solo traveller being safe all the times - Basic room but big and spacious with working air conditioning. The hotel is new and super clean.I enjoy being in a such convenient location (walking distance) and safe place where the hotel staff looked after me and kept me safe . The atmosphere in the hotel is very relaxing and familiar. The hotel includes a free shuttle from to apt and beach. Tia will make sure you are always looked after and safe. I will definately be back !
- Calvin (10/5): - Good
- Calvin (8/5): - Good
- Deborah (8/5): - The property was as pictured online. Clean, cozy accomodations. The staff were friendly and very accomodating. I would suggest they put a microwave in the room and pay a little more attention to details such as fixing broken mesh in windows etc. Its a very rustic, cabin accomodatoon which was adequate for our time in Tobago.
- NICOLE (10/5): - The cabin was very cozy. Dinner was amazing, great lamb chops. Breakfast was also good. The staff was great, kind and polite.
- Victoria (6/5): - I liked the breakfast, pool and cabin, however the wifi was pretty bad inside.
- Vanessa (10/5): - Great staff in all areas, we did the bed and breakfast, which i looked forward to my breakfast every morning, there was a lot of variety to choose from, Candy the Chef was amazing, she makes a really tasty omelette. There is a beautiful looking pool to swim in and a variety of wooden cabin guest rooms. Overall my stay was amazing, i didn't want my holiday to end. Would definitely be back!
- Raedell (8/5): - Peaceful and relaxing
- Andrea (8/5): - The grounds are very beautiful, food was delicious.
But I could do without the birds, though. That didn't change my experience too much but if they weren't there, the stay would have been even better.
- Chad (8/5): - Only issue was the WiFi kept dropping
- Geordi (10/5): - Has a homely feeling to it.
- ANDY (10/5): - 4 star cabin feel, felt like I was in Langkawi,
Amazing garden and grounds, very well maintained wood cabin style property. The staff super well trained and polite, and pleasant.
- Ellen (10/5): - Beautiful property, we had some flies but it's open dining. The rooms were clean and cool but not sound proof. You can hear the pool activity especially at night. But I was happy that they closed the pool around 11:30 pm-12am.
- Mansoor (10/5): - Good
- Chanelle (8/5): - The staff was very welcoming and accommodating. I felt safe and comfortable in the cabin, the breakfast was good, and the grounds were lovely. The location is also very convenient. Despite minor hiccups at check-in, and a limited restaurant menu, I enjoyed my stay.
- Camille (8/5): - Great location!
- CANDICE (2/5): - Review: WORST VACATION EXPERIENCE EVER from start to finish! My guest and I booked a 2 night stay at this hotel, Thursday evening to Saturday morning. We checked out by noon on Friday. ONE NIGHT.
Check-in was HORRIBLE. Whoever worked the evening/night of July 24th, 2025 needs to be retrained ASAP. Not friendly and gave my guest and I someone else’s reservation. Upon realization by the staff, I was told she had to call the owner to get permission to change my room. We packed up everything and moved to the new room. The staff confirmed that there will be no other change. Upon attempting to get breakfast the next morning, I believe the manager/head worker advised I need to change rooms again.I WAS MOVED BACK TO THE ORIGINAL ROOM, because apparently the room I was moved into the night before was now booked. After moving again, I was then told they’ll add a second bed to the original room, which barely had space, then I was told that I can’t stay in the original room because it was now also now booked and at 3pm someone will be checking in, and I’ll need to MOVE AGAIN. I spoke with the head worker and provided the receipt that contained someone else’s information and reservation. I mentioned leaving and was directed to obtain refund I had to request through Expedia and she wouldn’t decline. A week later and decline to refund for the 1 day. How do you RUIN my vacation and decline a refund. Mosquitoes, BAD customer service and NO accountability. I WILL NOT RECOMMEND THIS PLACE!
- Oriesia (8/5): - The area is great. Walkable to the beach & a plus is the shuttle service to the different beaches .
- SteveP1874 (8/5): Lots of great memories - I had a super holiday in Tobago here. It’s a small and charming hotel, staff are friendly and helpful - it’s a good way to chat and engage with the locals.
It’s not a full resort hotel, meaning it’s not for you if you want a large hotel with lots of entertainment and amenities. You have to get out and about to enjoy your time, which we did. We didn’t use the shuttle to the beaches as we hired a car from Sheppy’s car hire (part of the same business, I think) to get us exploring all over the island: driving is easy here.
We got lots of good recommendations for beaches and places to visit from the bar and reception. The tour guide Peter is lovely and super knowledgeable, we had two great outings with him to see wildlife and nature.
The pool area is fab and comfortable, but the pool itself is not huge. Breakfast is fine with good opportunity to try local produce. We ate once in the evening, driving out to other nearby restaurants as not much nearby in a short walking distance. We had nice cocktails in the evening at the bar, the serving staff and bar keeper friendly and chatty.
Looking back, it was an amazing experience and I am glad I stayed here.
- Roger (8/5): - Decent location for a short stay.
- Aleida (8/5): - Dining option needed to improve
- Sharon (6/5): Nice place but no hot water - We arived at the hotel at 1230pm for a 3pm check in. The hotel wanted $95 per hour early check in fee. We sat in the lobby until 2pm and they finally checked us in.
We stayed 4 nights and never had hot water. Needless to say I developed a bad cold. One night we had no a/c and it was fixed the foolwing day.
The plus was the free buffet. It was decent salt fish, bake, eggs and fruit. The staff was actually very nice and one lady went out of her way to help when my son had an allergic reaction.
- Jean Archer (8/5): - Stay by over 60 and over 70 couple: Included breakfast was great. Purchased dinner wasn't the best. Room lock had some troubles but sorted by the staff. Leak in ceiling. Pleasant and helpful staff.
- Savatri (8/5): - Nice experience overall
- Janette (10/5): - Great place to satay
- Verified traveler (8/5): Clean, safe, close to food and drinks. - The pond room is good for two people for a short stay, 2 nights I think. Id staying longer you will need a bigger room.
- Stay607068 (2/5): Where even asking for a spoon is too much trouble. - We really wanted to like this place. Our first impressions were it was lovely but scratch the surface and it’s not so great.
The first night meal was superb, really tasty and we were excited to have breakfast there in the morning and from then on our problems started.
We dared to ask for a spoon! At breakfast in a restaurant that had cereal available. The reaction was to be shouted at to get back to our table. To use the cutlery provided (no spoons just a knife and fork) and when we were given a spoon - it was snatched out of our hands.
My daughter left in tears and our day shattered.
A hot shower should have sorted us out - but the showers are at best limp.
All credit to Colin the owner he offered to take us out for breakfast but we are on holiday we don’t want to be tied to a taxi time for breakfast each day to then have to get ourselves back from where ever and to pay for breakfast out each morning. We had trips booked departing the hotel so perhaps it’s our fault for this becoming a problem. Starting each day hungry is not what I planned.
It took us four days to risk breakfast again. We got a spoon but there was nothing available unless we wanted toast and butter really. I tried to take photos but was told I wasn’t allowed - that should speak volumes !!! What hotel bans food photos?
The tvs don’t work in the rooms. The WiFi is spotty.
The maids go through your bags and use your phone chargers
The hire car had no air con.
The shuttle however is great and some of the staff are so friendly but like everywhere one bad apple spoils the whole bunch.
The room is clean but our floor is sticky so it’s swept
And if I was a cynic I would say that all the teaspoons being taken from the tea tray in the room is sour grapes because I complained
- LESLIE (10/5): - Good location. Close to airport and beaches
- Angela (10/5): - Short stay but great place will definitely stay again thank you
- khB9371FE (10/5): Tiny Gem in Tobago - What a gem of a hotel, super friendly and helpful staff. Hotel was immaculate, the internal laundry kept whitest laundry and cleaned clothes immaculately! Home away from home. Must visit.
The hotel was so clean and they really paid attention to details. I mentioned this was a birthday trip and arrived to my bed with petals and folded doves after the spotless cleaning. It was so thoughtful.
Breakfast Food was 10/10 fresh - something for everyone. Cooked and cold food.
Firstly Paul and Brian were amazing. There was an incident when there coach driver forgot us at the beach. It was very stressful as we had no access to internet and didn’t know exactly where we were. After waiting around, we approached a local and they helped up get home. We explained what had happened to the manager and she profusely apologies and the hotel arranged a free private tour of the island with Paul. Brian was like our personal driver, he went above and beyond to make our holiday a memorable experience. Anything we wanted or needed he made possible and provided us with valuable insight to Tobago the moment we landed to the moment we left. He’s a wonderful and honest guy.
Paul is the most interesting and knowledgeable tour guide. He truly made our trip memorable with all the knowledge he educated us with and made us both fall in love with the island and people even more. If he’s available for a tour, please book. You won’t regret.
The island is a paradise, especially when it’s low season. All travel vendors in beaches with an entry fee are legit if they have their id card. At one point we booked a glass boat tour at the beach. My travel companion and I shared the boat with one couple. We felt so lucky to have the whole boat and it was a steal. Very informative boat trip and fun boat trip. All locals were soo friendly and laid back. Booking on the day at the beach was far cheaper than booking in advance. Everywhere we visited, we received the best customer service and felt so safe.
All staff at the hotel were really lovely especially Rose ( I may have got her name wrong my apologies but I’ve included a picture). Will be visiting this June and hope to see her again. She’s a wonderful person and she provided some great local knowledge and helped me feel very much at home in a foreign country. Nikki the Jamaican bar tender was another asset that had great customer service and made lovely drinks. She was very calming and helped my travel companion to relax after a bit of anxiety.
All in in 10/10
If you’re unsure about booking this hotel, please book! You won’t regret.
- Calvin (10/5): - All i will like to say irs very good excellent
- Rosa (10/5): - I loved everything about the property.
- Stefan (8/5): - .
- 849alisaw (8/5): Betsy's Hope Restaurant gives you hope - After a long long day, tired and hungry, we dragged out toes out towards Store Bay Old Rd with the expectation of finding a quick meal. We spotted Betsy's Hope and deemed it a heavenly sign. And truly it was. Starting with the friendly Maibys, who welcomed us even if we looked like down in the mouth tourists, to the food, which came piping hot, smelled, looked and most importantly, tasted sooooo good. You have to try them. The shrimp was not overcooked, the food with the right amount of salt, the veggies were perfect. With Maibys looking after us, we were in perfect hands. Kudos to the staff, this was a gem of a find today. Truly fills the heart with hope.
- Charmaine (8/5): - Cleanliness was good. Room just a bit small
- Cheryl (6/5): - There was a leak in the bathroom floor. The night light outside shone directly in my face as I was in bed because the shades at the large windows did not come all the way down. They were either broken or just too short. The room was pretty small.
- Victoria (10/5): - Free shuttles to nearby beaches
- Lowndesy2016 (8/5): Shepherds Inn dinner - Went to Shepherds Inn for dinner yesterday, and were well looked after from arrival to departure.
Restaurant was spotless, service first class and the food very enjoyable.
We had Catch of the day and Herbed Chicken and rice, portions were plentiful served quickly.
The appointment of Tamara will be most beneficial, always a smile a lovely host.
Compliments to Mr Sheppy he is doing a fantastic job to create a wonderful hotel complex here.
We will be back.
- Robert (8/5): - Nice property - could do with a bit of a facelift but still in keeping with the area.
The staff were excellent and very helpful. We arrived before the 3 pm check in time so they gave us a drink and arranged for us to go to the beach on the hotel shuttle until check in time.
- Marie (8/5): Unforgettable Shepherds Inn - Caren was amazing from the start, she upgraded us then ensured we were comfortable with our room. Then she was very happy to help booked us dinner reservation then cancelled and rebooked at our request. I always stay at Shepherds Inn when I’m in Tobago.
- DAVID (10/5): - Loved it, nothing but positive. Great service, wholesome personalities, local breakfast is delicious.
- Carla (8/5): - Our stay was incredible! The staff was pleasant, the breakfast was delicious, the internet was reliable.
However.... The blinds for our room wasn't quite private. I think its because the ambience of the hotel is more of a rustic & cabin like setting. Also the lighting in the bedroom could've been better in terms of getting dressed and taking pics infront the mirror (mirror selfie).
Nonetheless I would definitely visit again and because its so close to other facilities and other beaches I would recommend.
- Adil (10/5): - Excellent overall. Friendly service, fairly clean, value for money, very close to the airport and ample amenities.
- Eric (8/5): - The property should consider putting a microwave in the rooms instead of having to ask the restaurant staff to warm up your food
- anhure (8/5): Excellent - Our stay was fantastic. My wife and I thoroughly enjoyed our stay. Our apartment was cosy. The only small complaint was the poor Internet service. The fact that carnival was on at the time meant we were not in our room.
Overall it is a fantastic spot, with a pool. The beach is just down the road.
We are planning another trip back here this year too.
Great staff!!!
- Vandina Olivene St (10/5): - The property was well kept. Staff were friendly, helpful and personable. The daily breakfast was filling and delicious with a variety of options. The local restaurants and beach were with in walking distance. The pickup and drop off from and to the Airport was appreciated. The experience added to our vacation and we most definitely will stay there again.
- ckF5473DW (2/5): Extremely poor - Went to the restaurant ,was told earlier no reservations was required. They made a table available, but felt we were given an area that felt choked up.
When ordering was informed some items were not available.
Bet your bottom dollars it was things we wanted.
We placed our order, can you believe an hour later we were not served water we ordered nor our drinks, no apologies for delays and still other patrons a few shades lighter than us is seen to be served and regulars communication between staff and them going on?
We finally decided to walk out, sorry this place when was under different management was exceptional in their service and ambience.
We local people need to stop putting up with this kind of treatment in we own country…..
I score this rating -0
- Terri Lee (10/5): - Breakfast was good, stay was comfortable,
Staff was helpful. Will be back.
- Anushka (8/5): - Nice, quiet space, friendly staff. The location was good and everything is walking distance! The dinner was not as we hoped but the breakfast made up for it! Would return again 😁
- 522sharaa (10/5): Leave your worries at the door - We’ve just returned from 2 weeks on the glorious island of Tobago. We didn’t know when we booked just how perfect Crown Point end of the island would be for us and that Sheperd’s Inn would be the most authentic, relaxing, best choice we could have made.
The hotel is visually stunning, the colours, the gardens, the deep pool, the welcoming bar & restaurant. The Pasture Room we stayed in was spacious, clean and so comfortable. Anna was our room attendant and she was as caring about us as she was about her work in making our room perfect everyday.
From the moment we arrived with the wonderful Teija picking us up at the airport and the ladies on reception throughout our stay, Natalie, Tamara, Aisha & Karen, nothing was too much trouble and smiles and laughter were the order of the day.
The gents who did the shuttle runs to the beach each day were great too, only got Barry’s name but all of them so genuinely freindly.
Breakfast included and taken every morning was delicious. Authentic dishes served buffet style including eggs, spinach, pak choi, pumpkin, bakes, pancakes, salted fish, beans, potatoes, some days bacon, some days sausage pieces in tangy sauce. There was fresh fruit, bread for toasting, tea, coffee, juice or fresh flavoured water.
In the restaurant, Karen, Aisha, Keisha, Mavis and the wonderful cooks gave us the best service you could wish for. All of them so friendly, warm, welcoming and genuine. We embraced it all. Breakfast was large enough that lunch wasn’t needed until 3 or 4pm and there are so many places to grab something to eat, especially in Crown Point or at Store Bay Beach or Pigeon Point where we spent many long days relaxing.
We went out on trips with the very knowledgeable, affable and courteous wildlife expert Peter Cox (based at Shepherds Inn). We saw the island in it’s entirety, saw the flora, fauna and wildlife and whelped with joy at all the birds seen and were amazed when Peter would just stop the car and get the scope out to show us a Peregrine Falcon or an Iguana hiding in the leaves.
In the evenings if we were having dinner (especially when we didn’t need lunch) many times we ate at the restaurant. Yes there were a couple of times when items had run out but all the alternatives were just as good. Everything we ate here was really good, freshly cooked, tasty food and excellent value for money, even with the copious amounts of cocktails that Bar Manager George would make for us. He was a cracking Host at his bar. His suggestions and his cocktails were so on point!!
Shepherds Inn is rated by BA Holiday’s as 3* - I can only assume that’s because it doesn’t have bell boys, room service, 24 hour eating/drinking, a hair dryer in your room and all the gubbins that are associated with higher ratings but once you understand that Shepherds Inn is genuinely authentic, small, personal and as laid back as the island of Tobago itself is and the staff are just amazing and can not do enough to make sure your stay is the best it can be, then you understand that star ratings don’t really count.
If there’s a need for a negative then it’s the speaker in the bar. It’s blown and the thumping base is so annoying that you just need to ask for the noise to be turned off and then all you can really hear is the laughter and conversations.
We’d go back to Shepherds Inn in a heartbeat and just can’t thank all the staff enough for making our stay magical.

- Cassandra (10/5): - Building was unique in appearance, room was well appointed and friendly staff.
- blw1810 (10/5): Fantastic hotel - Wow! What a gem of a hotel! The staff are ALL amazingly helpful, happy, welcoming, polite, knowledgeable, the list goes on.
The outside area is all beautifully clean and landscaped, we enjoyed watching hummingbirds in the bushes by our room. The rooms, whilst basic are immaculately clean and plenty big enough, it would be nice to have a bedside table but we managed without. Shower was powerful enough and plenty of hot water.
We stayed on an AI basis so ate a lot at the hotel restaurant, the food was always delicious and huge portions. The AI menu is quite small, so I did get a little bored, we ate lunch out quite a few times because we were off exploring. We ate most evening meals at the hotel but they let us choose from the lunch menu too so had more choice. The AI drinks menu was also very limited, but Jorge on the bar served every drink with a smile, he introduced himself to us on the first night which was a really nice touch.
Our first morning we had a briefing with Teija, she is such a huge asset to the hotel. She told us all about the island and what there is to see and do without and pressure to do anything. She was available throughout the week to get more help and advice from and always had a smile on her face. Peter was another member of staff who had so much knowledge about the island we were sad to run out of time, we would have loved to do a rain forest trip with him.
The location of the hotel was also great, 5 minutes from the airport, 10 minutes walk to the beach and other bars and restaurants. Free shuttle to the airport, store bay beach and pigeon point was a big bonus too.
We hired a car from the front desk, a quick easy process and a great way to see the island.
The staff are the biggest asset to the hotel, too many to mention but they really make you feel so welcome.
I would not hesitate to recommend this hotel to others and would stay again.
- Anita (8/5): - Location
- VIJAY (10/5): - Nice location
- G6274JLas (10/5): The best experience! - We went here for a week and didn't want to come home.It was like a beautiful tranquil oasis on this amazing island. All the staff were so friendly, and always happy to help with anything.the rooms are spacious and kept spotless. The shower and bathroom are a good size and kept well stocked with towels etc.We also had a fridge and kettle which were very useful. Our room was a garden room which was so peaceful and we could watch the birds fluttering amongst the palm trees .We did not pay for all inclusive so just had breakfast .The food was varied each day and enough choices for us .We went on a wildlife tour ,trekked through the rainforest and fed the Humming Birds ,which we arranged through Peter Cox who is based at the Shepherds Inn.He is very very knowledgeable about the history and wildlife of the island and we learnt so much.please when arranging any tours,go to him first as he really knows his stuff and the prices are so much more reasonable than the the touts on the beach.you will get so much more for your money. There is a free daily shuttle which you book the day before that will take you to your local beach of choice and picks you up a few hours later.this is a great service we used a few times. We will go back. Saying a huge thank you to all the staff, you made this holiday very special. Kim and Harry x
- Owen (6/5): - Stayed here in the past; a more comfortable stay the last time.
Menu had more local options back then and room was better laid out - layout of recent room felt more cramped.
- Irwin (4/5): - The room where I stayed location was facing pool and restaurant so windows had to stay shut and its frosted, so there was no natural light or fresh air coming into the room
It gets hot quickly and has an oversized AC unit that has one setting, so you're either freezing or sweating. They had construction going on early in the morning in the room directly behind ours, so we were woken up twice by loud banging, which my husband reported and it stopped right away. We were offered another room by the staff, which was nice. But this is a case of getting what you paid for.
- westiie (8/5): Great value for money - This hotel is really good value for money. I stayed in a Pasture room with my partner, the room is spacious and suited our needs perfectly. Beautiful grounds and well kept. The pool area is small but it was quiet so we always managed to get a sun lounger when needed. We stayed bed and breakfast, the breakfast was nice although not huge variety and there was one morning when they ran out of food quite early on. One day we had lunch at the hotel and the food was disappointing, especially in comparison to the local food that we had been eating. Overall the staff were very pleasant and helpful and there was one lady in particular that was super helpful, she helped us book trips and recommended some fantastic places to visit. The hotel offers free airport and pigeon point shuttle bus service which is great and we utilised this quite a lot during our stay. You can also walk to store bay beach and the main strip that has plenty of bars and eateries. Due to our overall experience, we would stay here again on a bed and breakfast basis. Thank you to Shepherds Inn who helped us have a fantastic holiday.
- RAMROOP (10/5): - The facility was well kept. The area was peaceful and the breakfast buffet was excellent. Highly recommend.
- Gelliott82 (10/5): Wonderful Shepherds Inn - First trip to beautiful Tobago and we will be back! Took my husband for his birthday. We stayed at the Shepherds inn for 7 nights in September. Great service from when we came out of the airport. A lovely lady called Teija was there to greet us. The hotel offer a free shuttle from the airport to the hotel which is great. Our room was absolutely fine, a little dated but spotless. The cleaning staff were great. Room had everything we needed including a fridge. It would have been nice to have bedside tables.
Hotel is in a great location, the pool is lovely, all the staff are really nice. The shuttle service to and from pigeon point beach is really good. We really enjoyed our trip, Teija made our holiday amazing, she is the most amazing lady, full of knowledge about the island, and just so helpful. She is a real Gem and because of her we will be back!
Thank you Teija, we appreciate you! Love Peter and Gemma x
- Silverisage1111 (10/5): A very welcoming experience - What a wonderful stay at The Shepherds Inn, a small boutique hotel.
A very welcoming gem of a hotel on the beautiful island of Tobago 🇹🇹
Travelled with mum and dad, husband, son and daughter in law to be.
Mum and dad experienced problems with hot water but this was resolved.
Dietary requirements were met (vegetarian and non-spicy). All-inclusive option was not quite as expected, all was freshly cooked to order, but a limited menu selection on food and drinks, due to low season and others eating at the restaurant which was open to anyone. That said, we were always accommodated. Restaurant staff very friendly, especially Maibys and Karen who were always helpful, and with big smiles.
Thank you so much to Teija for helping us in seeing some great steelpan bands at Sunday School and for pointing us in direction with our sightseeing itinerary. And for helping our son arrange a safe daytrip to Port of Spain in Trinidad. The administration staff and shuttle drivers were all helpful, especially when changing pool towels, currency and dropping us off at Pigeon Point. Anna made our room up. It was always clean and beds were so comfortable.
Many happy memories and thank you for making our stay a very happy one.
- stephanie (8/5): - I stayed for 4 nights at Shepard Inn with my fiancee. The atmosphere was lit. The place is very clean. Reception was helpful with all my questions. It was an easy check in /check out process. The location is convenient in crown point to many other attractions. All the other little extra services was great. The property is currently under renovation and can definitely use that facelift...I'm glad they are working on it. Overall 4.5 out of 5. I would stay there again.
- amellias2017 (8/5): Fabulous location - I am glad that I didn’t read the reviews of this hotel before I came as I would have been disappointed and probably not booked it. The positives are that Shepherds Inn is clean and tidy and the location is amazing (less than a 10minute drive to the airport) and a few minutes (5-6 mins) by hotel transfer/car to 2 of the main beaches in Crown Point (Pigeon Point and Store Bay). I didn’t hear any planes at any time whilst I was staying there or hear any traffic from the road. The hotel has a reliable shuttle service to and from the local beaches and the airport and Brian/the driver is professional and friendly.
Our rooms were cleaned daily with fresh towels (on demand), and they were also replenished with shower gels, soaps. We had bottles of water in the fridge on arrival (you can get more water from the restaurant at any time). There is also a safe in the rooms. We did have an issue with hot water during the stay but it was rectified after I reported it. Some of the staff could do with some customer training (even basics like acknowledging you when you arrive for lunch/dinner, smiling and not keeping you waiting for long periods of time) but there are some lovely members of staff there (Caren and Rickeisha on reception, Anna our amazing cleaner, Brian the shuttle driver and Tahya from Sweden). They are what made the stay pleasurable and why the hotel received a higher rating.
I found it useful that you can also get clean beach towels daily at reception which you can sign in and out which was great for beach trips. The Owner/Colin is a lovely man, very friendly and wanted everyone to have a nice stay. He went out of his way to make sure that guests had everything they needed.
I think with a few minor tweaks, this could be a really lovely hotel. The things that would make a difference would be for staff to be trained in customer service, to offer more variety at breakfast and bigger portion sizes and to have more variety at other times of the day. There was only ever 1 option for desert in the evening and that was 1 flavour of ice cream (which didn’t taste very nice). When something finished (for example the juice) it wasn’t replaced and this meant that for the rest of our stay that item wasn’t available. The food itself for lunch and dinner was tasty and cooked fresh each day, but it took a long time to arrive and wasn’t picked up quickly enough by waiting staff when the chef ran the bell to say the food was ready. I also think that as an all-inclusive hotel, there needs to be an option outside of breakfast, lunch and dinner, even if it was sandwiches, toasties, chips, cakes or snack like food.
I was happy that there was Wi-Fi and I was able to access this throughout the hotel at all times. It was also really nice to be able to access Netflix on the telly without paying any other charges. Extremely glad that there was air conditioning in our rooms as I wouldn’t have been able to sleep without it.
The hotel itself is also very quiet and if you wanted to, you can relax by the pool undisturbed. We didn’t do this at all as we were busy at the beach and enjoying Tobago outside of the hotel but we saw others take advantage of the quietness. We stayed at the beginning of September so there wasn’t any entertainment provided in the evening at the hotel but you are only a short walk away from lots of bars and clubs and eateries and we felt safe going out in the evening.
I had a lovely stay at Shepherds Inn. They did a few minor repairs whilst we were there but they were so respectful and tried to be as quiet as possible. Car hire is also available from the hotel, we didn’t do this but the cars looked to be of a good standard and the staff were friendly and professional.
The absolute highlight of our stay was going on an Island trip with Peter Cox (Official Tour Guide). He comes to the hotel regularly or you can ask reception to call him. He was so knowledgeable about the history, culture and animal/insect life of the Caribbean and is a lovely man. His tours are extremely reasonably priced and we created our most precious holiday memories with him (he does group tours and also private tours). Please don’t be put off by some of the reviews online. It is a lovely hotel which is striving to be even better.
We stayed in the Little Bo Peep Suite.
- Christopher (8/5): - Time.to get rid of those shower curtains. Otherwise, while small, clean and functional, so no major complaints.
- NorthStar11632049825 (4/5): Poor place-awful management - Nice location but that is the only good part. The food selection was extremely poor and repetitive. Every day, the breakfast offered the same limited choices: fried eggs, tinned chicken sausages and beans, some sort of spinach and pumpkin choka together with 2 types of basic cereal. The only fruit available was watermelon, and vegetables were almost non-existent throughout our stay. Instead of a buffet, we were required to order from a set menu, which not only limited our options but also resulted in small portions. When we requested additional food, it was simply not there and there was a massive wait time, further adding to our frustration. It felt as though the hotel was rationing food rather than offering a varied and plentiful selection.
The situation worsened when we realized that the same soup was served every day for an entire week or until finished (we actually finished the served callaloo soup for 5 days ), and the only dessert options were ice cream and the same cake, also served daily until we finished it and then it was only ice-cream left for desert. This lack of variety and poor quality was not only monotonous but also left us feeling unsatisfied and concerned about our nutrition. The sides were limited to mashed potatoes, coco nut rice and sautéed vegies (the mashed potatoes disappeared after day 3). An all-inclusive holiday typically offers a wide range of foods to cater to diverse tastes and dietary needs, ensuring that guests can enjoy a balanced and healthy diet. Unfortunately, this was not the case during our stay especially when you see the owner of the place bringing his own varied food and fruits to be cooked in the kitchen.
They did not even have a slice of lemon for my tea. I am not going to mention bananas. very poor place. rooms did not have shower gels, no kettle and tea or coffee sachet. torn towels if any. Do not recommend at all. May be for a day or two but definitely not for a week or for all inclusive. also lots of ongoing construction work.
The only ray of light was Denise and Celine in the restaurant and Karen the receptionist.
- kimberleya664 (8/5): Small, charming hotel - Firstly, this is a lovely boutique hotel. It is close to store bay and restaurants. The hotel has a restaurant as well. Our room was the pasture room and included daily buffet breakfast, which was actually good for what it was. Includes your eggs, sausages, bread, fry bake ( not every morning), pancakes (not every morning), juice, tea, coffee and few local dishes.
Few inconsistencies, rooms need a kettle/microwave at least. Even though the restaurant will give you when asked for hot water or warm food, but getting up at 5 am in the morning or 10 pm at night, to walk across in your pjs where ppl are dining, is a no for me. Breakfast is not at 7am. Never at 7am. Even if the paper given says 7am. Time is more at 7:30am.
Not having ingredients for some drinks, the toilet draining out all the water from the tank into the bowl (maintenance checksnare needed), we just turned the valve off to the side (we are not about to waste water) and running out of pool towels are also some of the things experienced. The "red woman", lol, in the reception area, cannot remember her name, bigup yourself! The issues we had, we tolerated only because of her. She is a gem of a woman. Kind, helpful and patient. In all I will definitely be back. It is a beautiful small hotel and even though it has some things to work on, it is worth it.
- Deborah (8/5): - The pool the surrounding the nice view and the little cabins and the fact that it was close to everything fantastic I will return
- shaunel (6/5): - Like the location.poor lighting in the room, should use daylight bulbs.Dining room floor and furniture old and dirty .Friendly staff.
Would not recommend.
- Joanne (8/5): - Very comfortable and easy going
- zoefI6766SN (8/5): Fabulous time - Shepherds inn is a lovely place to stay it has beautiful grounds and I saw lots of birds and butterflies 🦋. The rooms are basic but perfectly functional. I know they have recently built some new rooms and are going to upgrade the older ones. Breakfast is good, they put on different choices every day and there is a good selection. It is not your average british breakfast, but you're not in the UK. The lunchtime and evening menu need to be updated and less complicated with more simple things such as a club sandwich and also traditional Tobagan food. This was very difficult to find, but well worth it when you did!
They run a daily shuttle bus to to Pigeon Point and Store bay. Pigeon Point is stunning and I spent ALOT of time there.
The staff are friendly and helpful and sorted any problems we had.
- 761jacqulinel (10/5): Great stay at Shepherd's Inn. - I stayed at Shepherd's Inn for a week - just returned home today 10th July. It was very good value for money. My 'pasture' room was very big, had a very comfortable bed, and a lovely bathroom with a great shower. The hotel transfer from/to the airport was included and all went very smoothly. Lovely little patio area outside each of the rooms on the ground floor (where I spent a lot of time just chillaxin' in the shade. I was worried that the pool isn't heated but it didn't need heating, and provided a refreshing swim on the days it wasn't raining. The staff were attentive and helpful and the included breakfast was excellent every morning with lots of choice. I had a lovely stay.
- Anne Marie (10/5): - Would stay again. Clean rooms and friendly staff.
- Kassandra (8/5): - Staff was super helpful and kind. Needed a last minute room change and that made it super simple. Property was clean and peaceful
- X81MNcindyn (4/5): Very disappointed. Waste of money. - I spent 4 days and 3 nights at Shepherd's Inn for the first time and it was very disappointing. I spent USD $345.00 (TT $2,340.00) and it was definitely not worth my hard earned money.
Customer service and hospitality were non existent. No warm welcome, no smiles, no pleasantries. Of the 10 female staff I encountered throughout my stay, 2 of them were pleasant, the housekeeper who I met once and Denisia who served me at the restaurant one afternoon. Denisia was even kind enough to take me to a nearby shop to get bottled water and snacks.
Unfortunately that was the only time I saw her at the Inn as it seems there is a rotation system for staff and they are all competing for the place of worst customer service rep.
The food was basic. I decided to get food at the restaurant the evening I checked in as it was raining heavily. I had to go to the bar and ask for a menu, after waiting 15 minutes at my table to order a drink, as the waitress on duty that evening stared me in the face as she walked past my table multiple times and never asked me if I would like to order something!
I ordered a chicken burger with fries when another waitress brought my drink to the table. The fries were good.
The burger - worst burger I've ever bought! It was dry, no mayo, served on Kiss sesame bun, the strips of chicken were overcooked, hard and tasteless. The cabbage was cut into thick pieces which were hard to chew, the slice of cheddar cheese was thick and unmelted. The slice of pineapple used was from canned pineapple in heavy syrup. Even after using all the ketchup they gave me in a little bowl, I still couldn't finish it. Wasted US $10 (TT $70).
The 'buffet' breakfast was limited, most items the same everyday; slices of watermelon and pineapple, scrambled eggs, sautéed sausages, baked beans, potatoes. Local foods served were the saltfish and fried bake, pumpkin choka, bhagi and spinach.
The breakfast was not ready by 7.30am one morning and NO ONE came to advise the guests of this, neither a tentative time when it would be ready.
The Pond cabanas consist 2 rooms and not 1 like you would think from the photos. Rooms are NOT SOUND PROOF, INSULATION IS STRONGLY RECOMMENDED!!
I heard every conversation held outside of my room or by the guest in the other half of the cabana, the movie which the guests were watching, the loud snoring of a guest at 2.43am, the dragging of furniture, arguing, laughter, phone conversations etc etc. There was practically no peace!
A TV with Netflix and YouTube is advertised but I did not get to use this service as neither apps worked on the TV. Two receptionists tried to fix this issue on two different nights but gave up after about 15 minutes of trying to log in. On the second night, the receptionist Nicola suggested that it may be the TV connection. I asked her if there was someone who can fix it but she said she didn't know. I guess they forgot about this complaint as it was never fixed the 4 days I stayed there.
There was also no hot water after the first night and no concern to resolve that complaint either. 2 nights and 3 mornings with no hot water.
Construction is currently underway at the Inn so if you are going for peace and quiet, you will not find that there! This is also not advertised so you will be unpleasantly surprised to learn this upon checking in.
The construction workers talk, laugh and argue very loudly. There is a man who wears a yellow t shirt every day; don't know if he's the Supervisor or Manager but he is the loudest and most rude of them all! He QUARRELS every day with the employees infront of guests which is just distasteful!
Construction work starts from as early as 7am and lasts throughout the day and ends around 7pm. On one morning they were cutting tiles just outside my door with an electric saw... The noise was very loud, irritating and inconsiderate.
The shuttle service advertised operates at specific times and not throughout the day. 9am and 10am to Store Bay and Pigeon Point beaches and 3pm and 5pm to pick you up.
This info is not included on the 2 page document you sign upon checking in and the receptionists don't advise either. It is printed upon a small page and placed on the reception desk. It's up to you to notice it while checking in.
But they do advise that you will be charged US $30 for the pool towel provided if you do not return it at the end of the day....
While the Inn has a beautiful aesthetic and much potential, it lacks employees who care about their guests and job.
I will definitely not return to Shepherd's Inn and I won't recommend spending your money and time there either!
- Verified traveler (6/5): Great - Breakfast wasn’t the tastiest. The room could do with better lighting, but I’ll keep coming back. Convenient and close to the airport.
- Sherrill-Anne (10/5): - Pleasant and helpful staff.
Tasty breakfast with lots to choose from.
Complementary shuttle to airport and beach.
Lots of plants
- Rishi (8/5): - I would recommend the facility to those who wants to get away for the city life for peace and quiet. The local breakfast is also very delicious.
- Kerry (10/5): - Sheppards Inn provided a serene sanctity with every modern convenience and appeal while keeping its cottage charm.its the perfect place to relax to dine to wade about in the pool and if youre in the mood to splash in the beaches its within walking distance or they do have a friendly shuttle service 😀
- Nigel (2/5): - The manager was extremely sullen and never tried to make us feel welcome. She always looked like we were bothering them by answering any questions. Even when we asked for towels for the pool she said there were none and and she was waiting for house cleaning without another word. When it was time to leave, her only words were to put the key in the jar. I will never be back there …every person who deals with the public is the face of the company and that level of interaction was disheartening especially when there are so many choices on the island.
- ChrisM514 (6/5): Lovely but…. - Although a good location and an attractive set up the management of the evening meals was shambolic.
We were on all inclusive but soon discovered that they ran out of food and drinks every day.
The majority of the servers at meal times were in need of training. Food and drink orders were seldom written down and on two occasions our meal wasn’t delivered within a reasonable time because it hadn’t been processed. When the food did arrive, apart from a repetitive salad option everyday, the food was very good. Lots of fresh fish dishes which were very well cooked and tasty along with a small variety of chicken dishes. Hats off to the breakfast and lunchtime chef too. There was a chefs special each day in the evening that was appreciated given the limited menu for AI.
Some guests suggested there weren’t enough staff but I suggest there were too many and each waited for the other to do the work! Only one waitress was doing her best and she did a great job. On two nights there was a lot of shouting from the kitchens, clearly there were problems behind the scenes too. Another annoyance was the owner constantly conducting his business in the dining room in front of guests. Get an office!
As a retired hotelier I was shocked at how simple the tweaks to keep guests happy were ignored. The majority of guests we chatted to were also getting tired of the abysmal evening service.
On the good side, we liked our room location by the garden. Shade to sit out in, offering a more private spot. The room was of a reasonable standard once coat hangers were provided.
The pool area was pleasant but again attention to detail is lacking. The 4 sunbeds were in dreadful condition and the 5 pool chairs were unstable in the water and far to low down for many older guests to use. If you need to keep costs down try turning off the outside lights in the day.
There was a free shuttle to and from the airport and to Pigeon point which we used a couple of times choosing to walk back at a time to suit ourselves.
The reception staff were all very helpful and always gave a smile. Sadly most of the waiting staff didn’t adopt this same attitude.
We have travelled extensively and accept standards can be very different the world over but at this hotel the simple tweaks to keep guests happy are ignored in preference to building more accommodation on site.
Would we go back? No. Sadly other guests were saying much the same.
- Ravika (8/5): - Suitable for the short stay and purpose of my trip
- amanda (10/5): - Amazing stay. Love the buffet breakfast. Easy check in and check out. Location was great.
- Paul (6/5): Not friendly and lacks amnesties - WiFi did not work. Breakfast was suppose to start at 7.00 am. Every previous stay it started after 7.30 am. When the front desk clerk was informed her response was “breakfast starts when ever chef is here and starts”
- Nicola (8/5): Clean hotel - The staff is friendly, efficent and helpful. We had a problem with our room which they promptly gave us a new room. Overall very clean and eco friendly. The tv, however, did not work well. The pool was clean butnot kid friendly. We enjoyed the breakfast which was very good. Shuttle service was also quite good. Loved the location.
- Vanessa (8/5): - Excellent stay. Hotel is clean. Reception is helpful. Breakfast is delicious! Only two issues breakfast was never on time during our stay if you are an early morning person. Would have loved a night stand next to the bed. Will return to stay at this location in future.
- Rhea (8/5): - Stayed in a room by the pool. It was a quiet stay. Felt very homey. Friendly staff.
- Norva (8/5): - Very nice, eco friendly and nature loving aesthetic. Different from the usual guestbhousenor hotel experience. Staff is very accomodating.
- Anjanie (6/5): - My booking was for two twin beds. Upon arriving I was told they didn't have any rooms available. I booked using Expedia and was told it's Expedia error. When i keep pushing the issue they noticed it was there error. No apology at all ,I was told by the front desk to "sue Expedia ".Take responsibility!!
- Mario (6/5): - Bad wifi, staff not friendly enough
- Elisha (10/5): - The breakfast, the ambiance and overall just a great place to stay.
- Besham (6/5): - Goid balance of price and experience. Improvements in a few areas needed. Pool was not cleaned regularly, room curtains obstructs door closing. Design of washroom door eliminates privacy. Plugs sockets were loose, night stand needed re enforcement, television did not have easy access to entertainment. Closets were dark.
Compliments to the breakfast chef and staff. Reception was pleasant. Points for offering shuttle service to airport as wellbas 1 hour late check out. Garden ambiance was noteworthy as well.
- Nandani (8/5): - Good location.
- Derek (10/5): - Tired
- Shanique (8/5): - Staff is excellent, the space as in outside of the rooms is great but the rooms itself need a lot of work. Literally all of the drains were terribly clogged and water took forever to go down. I literally had to try to unclog the drain in the shower myself so the water wouldn’t overflow. The breakfast was great and there’s a restaurant right on the compound with great vibes at night.
- Sean (10/5): - Mr. Shepperd was wonderful. Breakfast was a delightful accommodation.
- Nagaat (8/5): - .
- Mark (10/5): - Great overall
- Crystal (10/5): - Over we had an amazing stay they. My sister and I were lucky to get a room at the last min and they accommodated us beautifully. It's a short walk to the beach and activities. The bar tender definitely made the drinks with love and overall it was clean and just an excellent stay. We will definitely be back!
