tonic2719 (8/5): Peaceful break - The host, Elise, was very warm and welcoming. We were the only guests there at the time so it was very peaceful. Garden was lovely, enjoyed the pool. We had a problem with the bath plug and TV but Elise was very quick to sort it out. Only down side was the bed was a bit hard and the mosquitos in the room at night. We had to sleep with the fan on as the air con was not very powerful.

She even helped remove a wine stain on my shorts! The accommodation was spacious and comfortable and Elise provided a delicious breakfast. Highly recommend!

Better room, great breakfast, great hostess and massive swimming pool- just a few minutes walk from Church Street. Will definitely stay again when visiting Tulbagh

The rooms are very comfortable and well appointed. The garden and pool area is especially relaxing. Elise is also able to organise transport to the nearby wineries in the Tulbagh Valley. Another thoroughly enjoyable stay.

We were made very welcome by our hosts, who gave us a lot of useful information about the area. The rooms were very comfortable and spacious. We made good use of the pool and loungers, both much appreciated at the end of a day’s sightseeing.
JoseAM1955 (10/5): Cozy and comfortable guest house - Warm welcome in this cozy guesthouse. Our Lavender room was very large, with a huge bubble bath (not used by us), spacious shower and separate toilet. The room opens into the guest lounge where there is also a TV. There is a spacious garden with a swimming pool, good sun loungers and a nice bird feeder, which attracts the most beautiful birds. Hostess Elise is practical and cheerful and has many good tips. The pool was not very clean, but that is really a detail.

Comfy and Convenient! - This lovely guesthouse is perfectly situated at the end of a quiet dead end street and within easy walking distance to the town's charming main streets. My room was lovely with a huge comfy bed and all the amenities ready and waiting on my arrival. What a special treat it was to have a hot bath in a luxurious washroom after hours of travel. Historic Church Street is well worth the stroll and there are a few lovely restaurant options close by. Elise is a warm and welcoming host and she enthusiastically offered a plethora of sage advice about places to visit in the area. A very generous packed breakfast was provided for my early morning departure and I had a beautiful day exploring the surrounding countryside. There are obviously wine tours aplenty to choose from, but as an alternative, I would happily recommend a visit to Oakhurst Olives for an olive oil tasting. Delightful and delicious. Thank you to Elise at African Tulip for all the wonderful suggestions and for making my stay in Tulbagh such a relaxing and enjoyable one.

pfiolka (10/5): Wonderful accomodation in the Wine area of Tulbagh! - We stayed for 2 nights at the "African Tulip". First, it was not easy to find, our TomTom Go did not work properly. When we arrived we were welcomed by our host Elise and from the first moment we felt at home away from home.. The house is beautifully decorated, we had a large and very comfortable room and the breakfast was the best during our long trip through South Africa!
Roving64382320661 (10/5): Stunning facilities, excellent service - This is a stunning facility with excellent luxurious rooms. We booked Plumeria room but Elize upgraded us to Lilly as it had a larger bathroom with shower, bath, twin basins and separate toilet. The shower unfortunately had a small leak but we folded a facecloth and placed it against the leak. Room very spacious and luxurious with kingsize, extra long bed. Some nice cookies were placed in our room to compliment the coffee tea station. We did not order breakfast so I can not comment on this. Elize (owner) was very accommodating and recommended things to do and restaurants to visit in and around Tulbagh. Even received a small snack to enjoy on the road. Safe undercover parking and free wifi was very helpful. Thanks Elize, you are a star.
ntulitc (8/5): Great Stay - Elise and Frank are lovely and helpful hosts. Exterior is charming and tranquil. My room was spacious and had many good facilities, however as I was travelling on business I would have loved a desk & chair to work from. My stay was really fantastic and I will definitely visit again.
