- Julie (10/5): Excellent ! - Parfait ! Rien !
- Yi (10/5): Better than in photos - Own private outdoor bath is a luxury. This hotel is super well equipped for bath needs. They even have grass woven hats for outdoor bath in the rain.
We bathed several times a day slept very well. It's a distance from train station if you take public transportation. I'll recommend checking schedule and ask them to pick you up in advance.
- Jennifer (10/5): Great Ryokan & Kaiseki Experience - This is a great place for a Ryokan and Kaiseki Experience. Our stay was wonderful and the staff was so kind and heartfelt. We had a room with a private Onsen. A blessing after walking for sightseeing for two weeks in Japan. You also get all kind of amenities and they offer a shuttle from and to Ito Station. I am sad I have to leave and I hope I'll be able to visit again in the future. 10/10
- Kirill (5/5): Nice room with privat bath, but public onsen is not good - We stayed in a Japanese-style room with a private bath, traditional dinner, and breakfast — it was a truly pleasant and authentic experience. However, if you book a standard room and plan to use the public onsen, keep in mind that it’s not remarkable at all: rather old, not very cozy, and lacking atmosphere. The outdoor bath is nice, but it’s not enough to come here specifically for the onsen.
- Samuel (4/5): Disappointing - We went for a Japanese room with a private Onsen, the room is next to a road and a railroad. There is only a thin fence separating the bath from the road. Imagine how relaxing it is to have a bath with constant cars passing by.
In addition, the sound isolation of the room is very poor. You hear every car passing from the room with all windows and doors closed.
Then there’s the railroad with frequent trains from early in the morning until 23h. When a train passes, not only you hear it but the ground of the room shakes.
For those reasons, we decided to shorten our stay, which was possible but of course with absolutely no refund and no gesture (not even a free coffee or a free drink). To be fair, after insisting we got 2 free bath salts …….
The hotel is not bad, but definitely not a 5 star. The meal is taken in the room, so you have to live with the smell for the whole night, there was mold in the bathroom, both the bathroom and the toilets are not heated so in November it gets cold.
- John (9/5): I look forward to returning - Stayed at the Onsen Ito Ryokuyu in Itō recently. Really got 3 rooms, one for my spouse, one for a couple we were traveling with, and one for our Local host from Tokyo. After some initial communication foibles (mostly due to Booking.Com idiosyncracies), the stay was lovely. Each room had its own private outdoor Onsen tub. There's also a more 'public' onsen in the basement which was quite lovely as well. We had a Kaiseki dinner - and they accommodated us in a private room as there were 5 of us. It was one of the best meals we had on our trip. Local fish, beef, vegetables, and shellfish. Beautifully served... and the In-Room Kaiseki breakfast, following the hot morning bath after a comfortable sleep on futons, was the perfect start to a day of travel. Property was great. the staff reached out early and immediately to make sure allergies and dietary restrictions we’re accommodated.
- Sergei (9/5): Excellent experience - Amazing staff, very delicious and nourishing dinner. They prepared individual menu for my wife who is allergic to sea food. Individual onsen is very comfortable and relaxing. The best emotions in Japan so far. It would be nice to have a bit more instructions and menus in English, but it was not critical at all.
- Amy (10/5): - the service and hot spring are excellent
- Stefan (10/5): Sublime, minimalist-yet-luxurious place that my wife and I truly cherish deep in our hearts after staying here on our ho -
- Cheuk Nam (10/5): - Amazing staff and services make the stay feels like home. Half board was super delicious and absolutely amusing. Private onsen was secluded and peaceful. Definitely staying here again if passing by Ito!
- TOMOHIKO (10/5): -
- Sau Han (10/5): - We really like the rotenburo and the gorgeous dinner and breakfast ! So delicious and so relaxing !
- jakob (8/5): - Top service. God futon madras. Privat og fælles onsen. Japansk frokost serveret på værelset. 1000 benet som «angreb» om natten. Det havde seriøst mange ben!
- Chun (10/5): Exceptional - We booked the Shikine room - a beautiful traditional Japanese-style tatami room with a private open-air hot spring bath, as well as in-room dinner and breakfast.
The service was excellent from start to finish: warm greetings, luggage assistance, room setup, and even pick-up and drop-off from the station. They even held umbrellas for us when it rained!
The traditional Japanese-style dinner and breakfast were both satisfying and amazing.
The private open-air bath was set in a peaceful garden surrounded by trees and flowers. In the morning, we could hear birds singing - it was so relaxing! You can adjust the water temperature by adding more hot spring water (even the regular hot tap water is sourced from the hot spring).
It was a truly enjoyable stay, and I highly recommend it!
They also have English-speaking staff, which makes everything much easier.
- Yinchen (10/5): Exceptional -
- Cody (9/5): Short 2 day getaway - Loved the private outdoor onsen bath. It was a wonderful way to spend the end of our day. The rooms a large size which felt like luxury in Japan. I loved the traditional things like the mats and the futons and breakfast was more of a spectacular event. It was special.
The lady who explained everything on check in went out of her way to communicate with us. And the lady looking after our room was lovely. The shuttle service didn’t work for us. We arrived after 6pm so not running. And on checkout we went for a walk and than picked up our bags but shuttle was then not allowed as we didn’t use it when we gave back the key.
There was one male on reception who wasn’t very welcoming.
- Yi (9/5): Superb -
- Nadine (10/5): - Beautiful spacious room with a private outdoor onsen. Staff are friendly and accommodating to our travel plan. Indoor dining, excellent.
- John (10/5): - Great service. Attendant was very friendly & accommodating of our limited Japanese.
- Jeffrey (9/5): Superb -
- Yanran (9/5): Superb -
- Zichen (10/5): Exceptional -
- Marisa (10/5): A wonderful Japanese experience in a beautiful area of Japan - The staff were lovely esp as we do not speak Japanese they tried really hard to communicate. The meals were exceptional - delicious, light, full of flavour incorporating many local ingredients. Our room was traditional style and this was exactly the experience we wanted
- Jonathan (10/5): Friendly, welcoming, clean, spacious. - Absolutely adored this hotel. The room was massive (I think it’s listed as a 3 person room it felt like it was big enough for 4). The private onsen was great - we used it 3 times during our 1 night stay. The public onsen was also great.
But by far the best part of our stay was the staff - they are super friendly and adorable. We have very very limited Japanese, but they communicated with us well. They spoke enough English to tell us about our stay. They put out the futons for us while we were out for dinner (they asked what time we would be out and clearly communicated to us that they would come into our room during that time to put out the futons) and brought breakfast to our room the next morning at the time we requested. Breakfast was delicious too, with a great variety!
I think this is my favourite hotel stay of not only this Japan trip, but also any hotel I’ve ever stayed at.
100% recommend! Nothing - we loved everything.
(8/5): Very good -
- Cheryl (7/5): Good -
- Wei (10/5): Exceptional -
- Phuong (10/5): Amazing stay - It was a great stay even though we only spent one evening here. The room was big and the private onsen bath is just so lovely on a cold day. The staff did not speak English but they tried hard to accommodate us. The in-room breakfast was exceptional. If anything, it's a bit of a distance from the train station, so would have to wait for the bus to come.
- Yue (10/5): Exceptional -
- Porntouch (9/5): Superb -
- Kamal (10/5): I should have booked my entire stay here. - EVERYTHING WAS PERFECT AND DONE WITH CARE AND INTENT. We only booked a single night there, and when it came time to checkout, I couldn’t bring myself to leave. They did not have any availability, (obviously because it’s the best) so we had to book another onsen ion the same street. It was NOT as great as Ito ryokoku.
- Koichi (10/5): Exceptional -
- Mariann (10/5): Exceptional -
- Kent (10/5): Exceptional - Excellent food. Vehicle noise.
- Talgat (10/5): Exceptional -
- Nancy (9/5): Love the private outdoor onsen and the private room for our family group. - Everything was great. The service was outstanding.
- Rise (9/5): Superb - Staff is very good, especially the lady who served dinners and breakfast. She is smart and professional. The lady who speaks Chinese is very helpful and polite too. None
- Sin (9/5): Superb - The staff was so nice and helpful. The dinner was extraordinary. The private onsen was small but enough for 2 people. The room was big.
- David (9/5): High class onsen at reasonable price - Elegant Japanese style room with rotenburo (open air hot spring tub) on private balcony. Superb food and great service nothing
- Mimi (8/5): - We had a Japanese style room with a private hot spring tub in the courtyard. Room was clean and spacious. The hot spring temperature is just perfect and enjoyable.
We arrived very late to the hotel and missed our dinner. The breakfast was served in our room by two very friendly Japanese ladies. Staff speak very very little English but they use an interpreter online to assist guests. They provide courtesy shuttle to the train station.
- Shuyuan (10/5): - The staff were excellent and took care of every detail of our stay. The private osen was such a surprise. We really enjoyed the stay and would definitely come back for a relaxing vacation.
- Verified traveler (8/5): -
- Verified traveler (8/5):
