Guest Reviews
- Lauchlin (10/5): grreat place to stay very friendly staff - room was nice , very clean. Breakfast was greast
- Deborah (8/5): We enjoyed the rustic, all natural elements and the beautiful fall colors. - Our host was very pleasant, and the homemade breakfast was yummy. We enjoyed hearing about how he manages the property sustainably and, in many ways, off-grid. The trees were turning, and everything had a very colorful "Fall" feel. We picked it because it was very convenient for our travel plan, and we loved the name. Everyone wants to stay at the Green Dragon! The only difficulty for us was the firm mattress, which made our sleep restless. These are things we expect when traveling. It did not take away from the experience.
- Michaela (10/5): Best place to stay in Nová Scotia... ever! - The eco farm is in the woods, a bit off the main road. It is quiet, peaceful and really close to nature in all aspects. The owners are artists of German origin, very caring and truly devoted to biological farming and living. Even breakfast was prepared from local produce only, tomatoes and fresh eggs directly from the farm with homemade bread and jelly, milk and butter from a near by cattle farm. Simple but extremly tasty and wholesome.
The animals run freely, no cages or fences. Even teas offered in our room with the tea kotle were solely biological as well as biological toiletteries in the bathroom.
The room and batroom very impecably clean with tasteful rustic decorations.
We enjoyed sitting on the patro and watching the goats play. We were truly sorry we had to leave after only to nights.
We loved this farm. -
- Tarek (10/5): Great place - Everything. Very relaxing and calming room. Clean, comfy, cosy. Bathroom design is beautiful. Stephan was very welcoming and the breakfast was perfect. We loved our stay. There are two goats and a super friendly cat named Tintin. Nothing not to like
- Alissa (10/5): - Stephan was a great host. Friendly and helpful but not over the top. The space and property I really enjoyed. It was very peaceful and calm. I enjoyed hanging out with the hosts friendly cat & goats & observing all the birds & squirrels.
It was a bit out of town which I enjoyed.
I enjoyed a nice chat over breakfast.
Would stay again if I was ever out that way again.
- Christian (10/5): Sehr empfehlenswert! - Wunderbar gestaltetes Zimmer, schöne dezente Farben, nordisch schlafen, feines Frühstück, super sympathischer Gastgeber (deutsch sprechend), steht gerne für Fragen zur Verfügung Alles gut (Hinweis: Kater Tintin darf nicht ins Zimmer)
- Mart Iann (10/5): - Excellent
- Renata (10/5): - Tucked away property in a quiet location. Quick response from host and private access to the room which is convenient. Simple but good breakfast that gets you going for the day.
- Paolo (7/5): -
- Lori (10/5): - Stephan was wonderful about making sure I was able to find the place, showing me my space and encouraging me to make myself at home. Best sleep ever. Everything I needed was there and a good hearty breakfast with excellent coffee! The owners are fascinating people and went out of their way to make sure I knew about the Saturday markets and other things in the area to take full advantage of my visit.
- Louise (9/5): - We wanted to have an accommodation out in the woods, or on a farm, and we found both at the Green Dragon. Surrounded by the wilderness of Nova Scotia., greeted by two irresistible goats, a superb affectionate cat and a host with a sunny smile, we felt welcome. We Loved the comfortable and well appointed suite, the cosy breakfasts, the chats and the rich heritage of Tatamagouche Thank you Stephan for sharing your land with us Nothing
- Sean (10/5): - The property itself is a small organic farm and is set in an extremely relaxing environment with farm animals and nature. The host Stephan was extremely friendly and hospitable. Serving the breakfast at the dining table in their home was a very nice touch!
- manraj (10/5): -
- Agathe (10/5): - Excellent stay, everything is like in the pictures. Not a random hotel room but it is way better, very comfy and quiet. Very nice welcoming host. Would strongly recommend.
- Kelly (10/5): -
- Barbara (8/5): - Very unique and memorable accommodation on the farm with goats, chickens and ducks. Room very basic with rustic decor. Host was super friendly. Good breakfast.
- Sarah (10/5): - Amazing place, very cool decor and Stefan was very helpful
- annette (9/5): Ideal for a one night stay, would recommend if in the area - The slightly isolated feeling it gave us. Loved the sound of the goats bells Accessibility to get an evening meal was limited partly due to early closing/not open
- Roger (6/5): Nice but missing things necessary for the high rating - The couple that own the establishment are charming. For a place rated so highly we found a number of things missing. Wifi but no internet
Weak or no cell signal so virtually no internet
No juice for breakfast
No air conditioning, A fan was there and the temperature was moderate so no air was necessary
No refrigerator
No rack for luggage
Bedding limited. No top sheet. The bed is low to the floor.
Goat poop all over the grounds outside including path from car to room
No tissues
- Mac (8/5): Very good -
- Barbara (8/5): Very good -
- Pasquinel (10/5): Exceptional - Ambiance. The host. Little friends from the farm.Everything
- David (10/5): - Stephan is an engaging and caring host. We liked the Japanese feel of the bedroom and the clean, modern bathroom. The quiet at night was wonderful! We have fond memories of our animal hosts, too- Tin-Tin the cat and Emily and Rosa, the goats.
- Sylvia (9/5): Superb - Rustic atmosphere Signage for finding it wasn’t great-only on one side of the road and printed only on one side so coming from one direction there was nothing to indicate you were at the property.
- Murray (10/5): - Very nice accommodations and friendly, obliging owners.
- Neil (10/5): - Great breakfast. Loved meeting all the animals.....super friendly and inviting. The stay is as described. If you don't like the country or animals go to a motel. Visit the grist mill just down the road. Very charming.
- Dieka (10/5): Beautiful room, wonderful place, very cozy bed with excellent linens, beautiful shower, great host! - Breakfast was coffee, fresh eggs, toast with butter and jam
- victoria (10/5): - We had a wonderful stay at the Green Dragon! Stephan was so welcoming and kind, and the b & b was cosy and lovely!
- Christopher (8/5): Satisfied customer - Very quiet location in a clearing away from the road. Lovely to see goats, ducks with ducklings, a rooster and some geese as well as the cat.
Very comfortable bed.
Home made bread a bonus at breakfast time
Very helpful and friendly hosts No comfortable armchair. Room was big enough but not huge. Plumbing worked but had its quirks.
- David (7/5): Quiet, peaceful and rustic retreat. - The peace and quiet. Farm animals were cute. Stephan was friendly. Location was convenient for us. Couldn’t find the hair dryer. Breakfast was rather basic consisting only of plain eggs, store bought mini cheese and homemade rye bread. While quite tasty, we expected a little more from an “organic b&b”. Fruit and cereal or yogurt would have been appreciated.
- Brad (3/5): This B&B was not the comfort style we are used to. We opted not to stay. - We did not end up staying at this location. We were not comfortable and decided leave even though we had paid in full.
- Coolen (10/5): A wonderful experience! - The host s were very pleasant and went out of their way to make our stay pleasant and comfortable! Made for people like me who have COPD & allergies to man made chemicals .
- Melearley (10/5): Exceptional - Everything N/a
- Krystine (9/5): Superb -
- John (8/5): All we expected - Quiet and peaceful surroundings. Breakfast with tasty and nutritious omelette and home-made bread. Warm clean room and comfortable bed. Roomy shower. Friendly owner. Entrance to driveway hard to find in the darkness and rain.
- Carmen (3/5): Awful - The owner was a nice enough man The place is just slapped together. No lock on the doors so we could not leave our stuff in our place as it could be broken into if someone wanted. Rust all over the bathroom walls. Felt like it was in a barn. No normal taps in the shower. Spider webs all over the bathroom. Very uncomfortable bed. Doors squeak and rub on the floor, we didn’t sleep in their as we felt so uncomfortable, we slept in the car as our seats were more comfortable than the bed charged full price.
- Benjamin (10/5): - Tin tin and the goats were an added delight.
- Janine (10/5): Great host, I had a fun experience and loved the location - The animals and the breakfast
- Stephen (10/5): Exceptional -
- Krisunda (10/5): It was idyllic peaceful soothing and just the best place to get a good nights sleep :) - I loved the decor and how amazing the shower was!
It was quiet and out of the way ...beautiful farm yard!
The host was so amazing helpful in every way and breakfast was
delicous and very filling!! Using fresh farm ingredients :) No complaints
- Bernard (10/5): - Our host was wonderful. A friendly welcome was followed by a helpful hint concerning local roads. Our breakfast was excellent and served with a smile.
- Charlotte (8/5): Very good - Nice wooden old house, tasty breakfast with ‚german bred‘, Stefan is a friendly guy, interesting to talk to. Bed a bit hard and low, no fruit or greens with breakfast
- Marlene (10/5): Very good - Very nice place
The room is quiet and confortable
The host is nice an make a good breakfast
I recommand it
- Simone (7/5): Good - breakfast was good better bed.
- Jennifer (10/5): Exceptional - Quiet and relaxing I would stay there again
- Stewart (7/5): Great stay for the night. - Stephan was very accommodating, a lovely, friendly host. Breakfast was just what we needed, perfect for us that day, quiet location, we slept great (first time in a few days) location very interesting, Basic accommodations, rustic, (loved the wood
breakfast table) but had everything you needed. We would return if we were out this way again. Thanks for everything Stephan.!
- Edward (7/5): Enjoyable stay in an interesting, unusual place - Friendly, interesting host. Comfortable bed. Good shower. Quiet, wooded environment with birdsong. Two more pillows would have been good. I had to fold up a blanket to make a second pillow.
Could have used some instant coffee and regular black tea-bags, although the herb teas were nice.
- Véronique (10/5): Exceptional - Good breakfast, sweet and communicative host, great location. Quiet spot with many animals :)
- Louise (5/5): Interesting - It was ok Nothing
- Holly (8/5): Very good - It was secluded and beautifully simplistic.
Stephan was a wonderful host, friendly and helpful. He made us a delicious breakfast and was open to conversation.
We had a lovely time.
- Alla (10/5): Exceptional -
- Verified traveler (10/5): - Hyggeligt sted på landet med gode indkøbsmuligheder og spisesteder i nærmeste by
- Pawel (10/5): - Amazing host, quiet place, healthy breakfast. Highly recommended
- Bob (7/5): Convenient, pleasant setting, interesting host. - Breakfast was adequate.
Friendly host, goats and cat. The bed was not comfortable. A little too hard. A foam topper would be a nice touch.
- Karen (8/5): - This B & B was really unique, rustic style we would say. Very nice owner and cooks an awesome breakfast. Loved the goats, geese, hens and especially the cute cat that loved to lay on the hood of my car. Wonderful stay
- Carl (8/5): Very good -
- Ingrid (8/5): very nice and relaxing place among animal farm. -
- Azucena (8/5): - Clean, peaceful place. The host was very welcoming. Home-made breakfast was nice.
- Peter (9/5): our host could not have been more helpful or hospitable! - very unique
- Morag (10/5): A hidden gem - Peaceful, comfortable, friendly owner & animals. I will stay here again when I return to Nova Scotia.
- Erin (8/5): A quiet, affordable retreat close to town - It's a very nice, peaveful location away from town but close enough for it to not feel like a chore. Stephan's decorative style is very unique, and refreshing. The mattress and sheets are extremely comfortable! I personally enjoyed that there was no TV in the room so it forced us to read, talk and rest. Tintin is a very friendly cat, so we enjoyed spending some time with him on the porch. The goats were very pleasant too. Stephan was enjoyable to chat with, and we had a lot in common. We appreciated learning about the history of the area, his home, and his hike and dinner recommendations were also appreciated. The room was very stuffy (it was a heatwave at the time) so a fan and a working shower head would have been nice, but the owner explained both were waiting to be fixed/installed. The large pothole in the driveway could be filled.
Some minor things needed attention. The bedside lamp didn't work. Small touches like a mirror in the bedroom, or a suitcase rack would be a nice addition.
The listing could be updated to mention that the property is no longer an organic farm. We were expecting homegrown fruits or vegetables with the omelet breakfast, as was mentioned on his official website and in previous reviews. We now understand he was out of the country, and the farm is no longer in operation but that was one of our main reasons for booking here so an updated site would be something to consider.
- geoff (2/5): - Ducks geese goats running free on property. Creepy spot
- Verified traveler (10/5): - A small farm experience where I was welcomed by a pair of picture perfect white geese at the driveway two goats at the barn and a small flock of interesting chickens and one small ugly rooster, who was in charge.
The self contained suite and private bath is comfortable.
- Verified traveler (8/5): - It's an adorable place with a bunch of adorable animals (although don't mess with the geese!) They might make noise during the night, but overall the place is very quiet. The homemade breakfast was delicious.
- Michelle (10/5): Unique Farmstead Experience - This place is a little off the beaten track, but well worth seeking out. A beautiful, peaceful setting, free range goats a d chickens, and a wonderfully cozy room make this b&b the perfect spot for a quiet retreat. Handy to hiking and historical sites. Breakfast was delicious and included homemade bread and cheese. Stephan is a cheerful and accommodating host with great kniwledge of the area.
- Graeme (8/5): - Great owners! Goes above and beyond. Room though has a very low bed which sits on a wooden box frame justs out one foot on all sides which makes it a toe breaker. The bed structure takes up 90 % of the room. Its not possible to turn on or off the bedside light unless to get off the mattress. Bathroom door stikes at the bottom. Lighting in the room sucks really bad. NO TV.
- Verified traveler (10/5): - Nice room. Great guy. We were welll received and well treated.
- Trang (8/5): - The room decor is nice and unique with necessary amendities. The room and bathroom were very clean. The owner was friendly, and the breakfast was good. Great experience staying there for the night. Felt like renting a room in a resort, not like a normal B&B.
