Guest Reviews
- Sam (4/5): Overpriced and Lacking - The bed was comfortable and the fridge was a nice bonus, having cable TV in the room was brilliant, the location on the lake is unique, and having McDonalds next door is convenient. It was also pleasantly quiet when I went. However, the Internet did not work at all. This ended up costing me £20 in data roaming charges! There was also no air conditioning, so the room was extremely cold (No difference between outside and inside, had to wear a jacket in bed). The location is also a decent walk from Plattsburgh if you find that an issue.
Overall - paying $99 a night is overpriced, and does not refect the quality of the accomidation
- Mendoza (10/5): Great - Nice place Nothing
- The Smiths (8/5): -
- Michael (1/5): Nie mehr. - Schmutzig und heruntergekommen, ist den Preis nicht wert.
- Abhishek (9/5): Awesome location; clean room; value for money :) A good sunrise watching point! - Awesome location; clean room and value for money :)
Also a good sunrise watching point!
- Seth (8/5): -
- Guest (6/5): - Great view of the lake Outside looked questionable
- Hanna (3/5): Rooms are not as pictured - The lake front and access was great, plenty of good food options in town. The kitchenette in our room was a nice surprise with a full size fridge. The bed was incredibly uncomfortable, I tossed and turned all night, and I'm still sore two days later. The sheets had black stains on them not sure what that could have been from. The carpet had multiple large stains. I woke up with bug bites, hopefully from a spider or something and not bed bugs. Unfortunately there was no other available room, or any available other hotel vacancy this weekend. We considered checking out and driving home in the same day. Overnight our neighbors were yelling all night and a man stood outside of my room and chain smoked cigarettes.
- Douglas (9/5): Lake front gem! - It’s on the edge of Lake Champlain and the beach comes right up to the parking lot. The bed was comfortable and the room was clean. Get the lake view room if available. Beautiful views from your room. The walls are a bit thin. My neighbor was singing, not to loud and only for a short time in the afternoon. She actually had a very nice voice! Luckily no noise at all from 8:30pm win I came back till I checked out at 7pm. The sink was clogged and fill quickly, then drained slowly. It was a King sized bed with only 2 pillows. Could have used 4 like most hotel/motels do for king beds.
- James (4/5): Cheap Room - Room and motel in general was run down. Room was dirty and there were hardly a power outlet to be found. Bed seemed comfortable, slept well.
- Louise (10/5): - Confortable mattress, nice little kitchen with everything you need. Good shower. Near the beach
- Arlene (8/5): - Could use hooks and shelving in the bathroom!
- Terry (8/5): - Nice clean little motel. Staff was very friendly. Bathroom could be a little bigger.
- Pavel (1/5): -
- chris (10/5): - It was very clean , excellent service , a the lake view was amazing!!!
- shelly (10/5): - I loved that there was a lake next to the hotel. Looking out my door at the lake. Staff was very nice. Loved that I was about 30 minutes from the canada border. All in all great stay.
- JYWJYW (8/5): -
- Luis Henrique (7/5): -
- Thomas (10/5): - The room was clean and comfortable, but it was a bit over priced. For the price they should offer some kind of breakfast. The staff was excellent and very friendly. They changed our room from the second floor to the first floor upon request and we mistakenly left our computer at the motel, someone found it and returned it to the office and they kept it safe until we could return and pick it up.
- Daniel (8/5): - Great access and view of beach. Refrigerator was very noisy. We turned it off so we could sleep.
- Riendeau (8/5): Lovely view just after sunrise across the lake of the Green Mountains and the beach at the motel. -
- Marie (8/5): - The lodge is right on the beach which makes it very special!
- Karla (8/5): All good, clean and comfortable. - The beach and good location. Shower, in particular the shower head, was barely adequate supplying water.
- Cheiekh Mohamed lemine (1/5): -
- John (8/5): - Rug was not up to snuff
- Billy (6/5): - Room lacked any warmth. Not a good feeling while in room
- Scott (7/5): - Clean and comfortable A little run down exteriot
- Catherine (5/5): Motel is located on Lake Champlain. A short walk to the water from the hotel. - The hotel is right on Lake Champlain. There is a bench just beyond the parking lot of the motel to enjoy the view of the water. The floor was sandy. The hotel was dated and could use some TLC.
- Judith (1/5): - What a dump! It was old and in very poor condition. There was nothing to recommend about this hotel. A ridiculous price for very poor quality. Would never recommend it to anyone.
- Michael (10/5): - THE ROOMS ARE A LITTLE BIT DATED BUT THE BED WAS VERY COMFORTABLE.THE WHOLE PROPERTY COULD PERHAPS DO WITH A BIT OF TLC BUT THE LOCATION IS GREAT WITH WONDERFUL VIEWS AND A NICE BEACH YOU GET WHAT YOU PAY FOR
- Marla (8/5): - There was a problem in the area that knocked out the electricity. Wasn't really able to enjoy ourselves, not a fault of the motel. Was thankful that the windows opened so we could get fresh air as we slept.
- Jeff (6/5): - It was cheap and not too far from Amtrak
- Guylaine (10/5): - Location
- Benoit (8/5): Belle emplacement pour plage - La plage au bout du parking du motel fantastique pour la proximité Salle de bain des années soixante rénovation nécessaire
- Jane (6/5): - Even though they say they WI-FI, it does not work at all.
- collette (10/5): - Heated pool
- KAREN (10/5): Awesome! - not enough outlets- had to charge our electronics in the bathroom, pillows were uncomfortable- very thin. the room itself was awesome! Queen size bed was very comfy, Kitchenette had everything we needed, was well stocked with dishes and pans for cooking on the stove, plus a full sized fridge! access to the beach was great, wish we could have spent more time there. there is a Mc Donalds-5 minute just up the street.
didn't like the coffee maker in the room (not a Keurig) but they do have one in the office you can use.( but i do understand why, they are expensive coffee wise, but i always bring my own pods, i like the flavored ones) I highly recommend this hotel, i would stay here again if i ever find myself traveling up to this area again!!
- Guest (5/5): Ok for the price - View was beautiful.Front desk girl was very friendly. Cleanliness could have been better. Spider webs on chairs outside the room. Cobwebs on ceiling in room.Bathroom very small and tub was not clean. No working fan in bathroom.
- Diane (6/5): I've had better and no worse. - The room we were in has a half circular window on the door, which caused the outside light to shine directly into my eyes while trying to sleep. The bathroom counter was too small. Petal sink, no room for overnight and toiletries at all.
The outside view was great to see Lake Champlain.
- Brad (8/5): - Friendly staff. Clean room .
- Ken (8/5): - Room was clean and well kept. Modern bath. Nice sand beach and ample parking. Desk staff polite and accommodating. Close to the ferry to Vermont and other attractions. Our third time staying at this location, convenient and affordable.
- France (9/5): Très agréable ! - Il est bien situé et j’aime qu’il soit au bord du lac Champlain. Tout était bien.
- Sam (10/5): - Excellent motel stay , very clean , great location right on the lake with private beach
- David (6/5): - I reserved a room with a kitchenette but was given a "economy" room. L complained to Hotels.com just to have the two parties pointing fingers at each other.
--The motel has a rating of 8.4. in reality it should be 6.2. not very nice with many things in need of repair.
-- A cheap place to crash if that's all you need
- Elizabeth (9/5): A very comfortable place to stay in a very quiet location with the lake and a beach right on its doorstep. If the weathe - It was a very comfortable room in a great location right next to the lake.
The room was very clean and quiet and was spacious. It wasn’t in the greatest area, although we do recommend Mickey’s a great Italian restaurant, which was so friendly and served great food!
- Peter (5/5): -
- Guest (8/5): - The direct beach access was great The bed was not comfortable. Electrical wall outlets were not practical for use (too high)
- Ronald (6/5): -
- Richard (10/5): - Loved it because it was right on the lake with it’s own beach.
Beaucoup trop cher.
- Jordan (10/5): Made for a very comfortable night - The desk clerk was amazingly helpful and kind. I was not having a great day and he really helped turn it around. Not a fancy place, but nice location. The bed was SUPER comfortable
- Andrea (8/5): Remodel of old is clean and comfortable - Two flights of stairs to negotiate. I asked for help with my luggage and got that. This is an old two Decker motel. Lovely Sandy Beach with sound of the waves in my room, which was an under room. Comfy bed and I slept well. McDonald’s was only 500 feet away for an egg breakfast.
- Zainab (6/5): - Nice chill spot next to the water, but got some issues with weed smell and men making us feel uncomfortable and knocking on the door in the middle of the night. If it wasn’t for that I would definitively go back!
- Guest (9/5): -
- W. (10/5): -
- Margaret (10/5): Nice place to stay on Lake Champlaign - This is a cheaper hotel, but the staff was very accomodating, the private beach was nice, bed VERY comfortable, and very clean -- just old. We would definitely stay here again if we're in the area. Quiet, BIG room with kitchen, but don't expect a five star hotel. This is a great inexpensive alternative!
- Richard (8/5): - As an alternative to staying in Burlington, Golden Gate costs less, has beach front with a great lake view and is not far from the ferry dock.
While the building may be showing its age, it does have a retro vibe and appears to be well maintained. I think having the kitchenette space is not a bad trade-off for a compact bathroom.
Good value for travelers - especially in summer!
- Guest (9/5): It was wonderful and relaxing - loved the private beach - The manager, Bob, is wonderful. He’s very inviting and kind. He remembered me from the last time I came and he gave us a courtesy upgrade to a suite. The other great thing is access to the private beach. The one and only thing that requires improvement is the housekeeping. The rooms are not as clean as they could be and there is accumulated dust on the lighting fixtures and certain surfaces.
- Nicole (10/5): - Stayed here a few times and each time is always pleasant. You have your own private beach which is a bonus.
- Dana (8/5): great for a place to sleep. - Older hotel but clean and on the beach. Good price too!
- Verified traveler (2/5): room of my literal nightmares - I gave this place 1 star. I couldn’t give it zero. I’ve literally never written a review before but I feel compelled to write one on this place. All we needed was a room to sleep in for a few hours while driving up to Canada, so I booked a room here for my boyfriend and I after reading some decent reviews. This was the room from my nightmares. We started unpacking to go to sleep and I noticed 2 spiders in the corner; my boyfriend killed them. We started noticing them in the shower, in the window, the corners, and another on the pillow. The final straw was when I went to grab something from my bag (which was on the ground for no more than 10 minutes) and there was a spider crawling in my bag. I called the front desk for another room and thank goodness there was another one available. I explained to the man at the front desk our room was filled with spiders, his response was “oh man really? we usually spray for those.” We got to the next room and somehow it was worse. This room also had spiders crawling everywhere(including the bed), but this one had different types of spiders! We saw what looked like a wolf-spider crawl into the air conditioning unit and another nesting between the window and screen (in addition to 3 other types of spiders we found both dead and alive). We didn’t even check out. I called a different hotel and ended up staying elsewhere. Absolutely disgusting and I hope the others guests rooms were sprayed because who knows what else is crawling around there!
- ROBERT S (10/5): - The furnishings were similar to what one might have at home, as opposed to a "commercial" or "institutional" appearance. The man managing the property was extremely friendly and helpful.
- TREVOR (8/5): - Location and price. Drain a bit slow. Door window could have been shaded more to block out night light. Overall clean and convenient
- Joseph (10/5): Nice - Nice hotel, staff was very friendly and helpful to find dining options
- james (8/5): - Nice for the price
- Anonymous (7/5): Good -
- Mark (6/5): - Needed few fixes in the bathroom
- yulia (10/5): - Great beach front Motel.
- Jennifer (7/5): Good -
- Fatma (2/5): Way overpriced for what you get - The location, the ⛱️ beach The carpet stank, so the room stank. The AC was turned up to max to hide it but when turned down to a livable temperature the smell was disgusting. The (black) and only chair was stained with something white. Yeuch!
- Christopher (4/5): Dont do it.....go elsewhere - Room 321 smelled absolutely terrible, heavy chemical smell like faboloso , bathroom smelled like curry and beef , the beds were like sleeping on in a parking lot , the pillows were juat as bad. And to amke it worse the coffee was put away at 930am.
- Darby (1/5): Terrible experience, I could not use my power wheelchair; they made excuses, I want my money back. - Liked the location, and the intake staff person was helpful. Falsely claimed as an accessible room. Only "access" is a wooden, home-made "ramp," leading through a door that doesn't meet ADA requirements; and there was a 2" drop-off inside. That drop-off prevented me from getting my motorized wheelchair back out of the room. Staff had to assist, and that damaged the controller on my chair. Also, the bathroom is NOT ADA accessible, door is narrow, only one grab bar (back of shower). The carpet was filthy and stained, and had burn marks from smokers, even burn marks in the bathroom. I wasted $105 staying at this place.
- John (10/5): - Clean, nice, great view!
- Diego (8/5): - So nice to be right by the lake! And just a quick drive to restaurants and town. The property is clean and pleasant, but our only complaint was that our room had mosquitoes inside. After some aggressive towel swatting, everything was fine though. I would return just because of the location, the balcony had a nice view and you literally walk right on to the beach from the parking lot.
- Peter (10/5): - Nice and quiet during the week Beach is pretty amazing Definately wildwood vibes here.
- Marjorie (6/5): - The area has a nice scenery
- Michael (10/5): Excellent location - Excellent location, comfortable room. Appears recent remodel.
- Joanna (10/5): - Pleasant surprise, relaxed atmosphere, thoughtfully maintained and well maintained. Right on the beach.
Responsive staff, unbeatable experience for the price.
- Suzanne (6/5): Not the best, but ok - The hotel is acceptable for a one night stay. The first room we were given was bad (not the bed size we reserved and stains on the carpet and looked well worn). Upon our request, we got the size room we reserved on the upstairs and it was in better condition. Still, light shown in through the window shade from a lightbulb outside our door and kept us up. The area has a lot of smokers outside of the rooms. A few hours after checking in, I realized that I did not get my credit card back from the office after they asked for my DL and card. Fortunately, the office was still there and had the card (so lucky I realized it before they closed for the evening as we were leaving early the next morning before they opened again)! I would not stay here again, but it may be ok for others.
- Mary (8/5): It was a nice trip - The rooms were clean, the bed was very comfortable the lake view was very nice and I enjoyed the balcony It could use more parking, and some maintenance. Our toilet needed to be bolted down better and the outside of the building could really use some paint.
- Anonymous (8/5): Only stayed a single night so didnt get to take full advantage of everything around, but was a great - Having its own beach. Not able to set a temperature for the room due to a/c unit being a style with knobs and not digital.
- Michael (8/5): Good stay - Room 79, right on end next to shoreline of lake ,they call it the beach, good breeze, wish stairway was at end instead of middle of units! Otherwise, a good stay
- Megan (8/5): Lakefront views and a private beach - She has some years on her, but the sheets were clean and fresh, the kitchenette is a nice perk, and you can't beat the location. Good staff. Quiet rooms. Very much enjoyed our stay. Would return.
- Shellie (10/5): Exceptional - I love this place
- Kurt (7/5): Was acceptable. - Price, bathroom was remodeled. Dated room, needs upgrade.
- Timothy (9/5): I thought it was great, the aesthetics of the outside and the furniture will bother some people, I would stay there agai - It was clean, comfortable and quiet. The room has older furniture but that doesn’t bother me. I found the bed very much to my liking. also found staff always asking if everything was good and did I need anything. The mirror in the bathroom was to high, I’m 5’6 and had to stand on my toes at times.
- Goran (9/5): I stayed for five days, and the environment truly felt like home. Private beach for a bargain - The private beach, and I enjoyed the 2 bed room very spacious and quiet. Half of the motel is tenants so it was very quiet and easy to get around Plattsburgh. The manager was awesome went above and beyond to help his customers. I will stay again No free breakfast
- Michael (7/5): Good -
- Kelly (10/5): Great Management - The management was so welcoming. He was very helpful and kind with getting me settled in. He was also as equally as helpful during check out. He made the experience even more enjoyable. I felt safe there even though I was traveling alone.
- Caroline (8/5): Great for an overnight - The price was right, and it is updated. Don't expect a palace, but for the price it worked great. The guy at the front desk was super friendly and helpful. It's right on the beach, so you can walk right out on it anytime. The room was updated a bit, and it seems they did they best given what seemed like a tight construction budget. We would stay here again for sure.
- Deborah (8/5): Very good -
- John (8/5): - Everything was fine. Bathroom fixtures were a bit dated, but everything worked, and was clean. Bed was comfortable. The lakefront location was nice, sat out in front of the room for a while enjoying the evening breeze and listening to the waves.
- Inna (10/5): - 30 feet from your door and you are in the lake. Your room has stove, big fridge, microwave and coffee maker. Good place for family vacation.
- Mathieu (8/5): - Came from Canada to enjoy the 4th of July. Was a great location: close to the Plattsburgh city beach and 10 minutes from restaurants/ shopping center. 50 second walk to the McDonalds (convenient for late night).
Rooms were clean (especially the corner room with a window overlooking the private beach).
Service was great!,Bob was very friendly and helpful.
Already recommended to our family & friends and will definitely be coming back.
Bonus: were able to watch the 4th of July fireworks from the comfort of our private beach
- Bracs (8/5): Very good -
- Laurel (9/5): Enjoy the lake facing newly renovated room! - Beautifully located on Lake Champlain.
- Debra (7/5): Good - Location
