Guest Reviews
- Dalene (2/5): - This property has been closed for a few years! How can you still be making reservations for them?
- Dytha (2/5): Terrible communication - We never stayed here. They were closed for renovations. We didn't know until we attics to check in.
- Steve (2/5): - Bed was extremely hard and uncomfortable
- Steve (6/5): Not our first choice and hopefully never again. - The bed was comfortable, thankfully. Fridge and microwave clean and workable. The room was spacious and carpet looked fairly new but the room smelled of old smoke. Shower was cold in the morning. Worst of all was the filthy, disgusting bedspread. Simply gross with who knows what spilled and stained on it. At least the sheets and blanket appeared clean, so we stayed (the only availability in town).
- Frank (2/5): Cold and cold - Little heat, no hot water.
But it was 1:00 am and we HAD to stop. Unfortunately, it was Country Inn in Bolivar!
- Kim (4/5): Hot water is necessary - There wasn't hot water for a day. The staff stripped one of the beds and didn't come back to make it. She took dirty towels and didn't replace any.Called front desk, and he quickly remedied situation. The staff was new.
- Jeff (10/5): - Customer service
- Jane (4/5): - Staff was friendly; kind of strange: First Lady who greeted me had to go get manager to check me in (never was sure why). Room was clean, heat was good. Bed was not level; hard to sleep. I usually don’t complain, but one of the things I really wanted was a hot shower. The night we arrived, the water was nearly cold and refused to warm up. Went to bed really annoyed. Water was warmer this morning, but not hot and I was terrified it was going to turn cold, so took a very brief shower. I decided I would not make a stink about it unless asked this morning by the staff checking me out. I was not asked how our stay was. I will not stay here again and would not recommend it.
- Jennifer (8/5): Don’t judge a book by its cover! - Front desk was very helpful and polite, room was a older decor but clean and comfortable I would definitely stay there again
- Johnny (6/5): - Light didn’t work when flipped switch. Tv had no picture just sound. The property is getting run down . Won’t be staying there anymore
- Harley Cooke (2/5): - Outdated, Run Down, No Frills Facility With The Chance Of Having Fleas!!
I stay in Bolivar a few times a year and between the 4 hotel options, this is hands down the worst place I've stayed at. This place never looked appealing, whether it was the reviews or pictures online. But unfortunately the other options were booked for the weekend. I didn't feel like commuting back and forth while I was there so figured as long as the place was clean, a beds a bed.
Although the over all cleanliness of my room was okay at best, the furniture was outdated and beat up. Carpets were clean of debris but once again outdated and had cosmetic issues. The bedding passed my bed bug test. But the 2 pillows you get were flat and there was cigarette burns on my blankets.
WIFI was available but NO TV SERVICE, there was like 8 basic channels. No breakfast, just coffee. There are long term residents staying at this facility, many had animals. They all looked sketchy and one group in particular were always being loud.
THIS TOPS THEM ALL!!! A friend had a room 2 doors down from mine and got covered in fleas immediately after entering so he left and stayed in Springfield. The next night they rented the same room out to another couple. Same thing, walked in covered in fleas. I know this as I happened to be outside and witnessed them leaving the room and hollaring about it. HOW DO YOU LET THIS HAPPEN!!
- Kristina (6/5): - The only bad thing was the mattress everything else was good.
- Marty (10/5): - Good
- Eliza (10/5): - I loved how friendly the staff were! I was able to get my room and check in smoothly. Pets were allowed. Towels and beds were clean. Internet was slow but parking was easy. Thank you for the enjoyable stay!
- Michael (6/5): - Did not get the king room that we booked. Booked a king, got 2 beds.
No coffee in the morning.
Overall needs to be updated
- Darryl (8/5): - Nothing
- Brandy (8/5): - It was easy to find lots of parking nice rooms very friendly people clean room even turned down on our 2nd day there..only down fall was the breakfast there was only coffee no food or other drink options so no concontinental breakfast was served as stated.
- Brandon (8/5): - We booked for a two bed room and got a one bed instead.
- Verified traveler (10/5): - Check in was a breeze, the gentleman was super nice and helpful.
- Gina (2/5): - We got into our 1st room and room connected door was not fitting properly! We asked for a different room. Rooms smell like cigarettes!! Tub was all plugged up which we had to clean because water was past our ankles. AC was not cleaned. People live in units with animals so it smelled like dog poop when you walk out your room. Not much outlets. Bed hard, you get 2 small pillows for a king size bed. Nothing to watch on TV. Front door did not fit so it would make loud noise each time you open and close. Would not stay at this MOTEL again!!
- wanda (4/5): - The bathroom had black hair all over the floor and tub even after it had been cleaned
- Don (8/5): Dated but comfortable! - A dated, but quiet and kept facility. Pleasant staff. The owners have done a good job of maintaining what they have. The bed was comfortable. The water was Hot! A basic stay with no frills.
- Virgil (8/5): - The low price is what I appreciated most.
- HEATH (6/5): - The beds were very hard & uncomfortable. The pillows were flat, worn out. Intranet was out the 3 days I stayed at the hotel. Very disappointing & uncomfortable stay!!
- Darcy (10/5): - Good price. Clean. Comfortable beds.
- Russell (10/5): Very nice economical hotel! - Hotel was a little had to get to when coming through town, but our overall visit was very nice. Check in was simple. The room was nice. There was no coffee machine but they had coffee in the lobby. TV had several stations to choose from. Our last hotel had only 4, and they were BBC reruns.
I would recommend this hotel and stay here again if in the area.
- Robert (8/5): - It was ok needs some work as far as updating the room
- April (6/5): - I liked that it was easily accessible. I didnt like how thin the walls are. I could hear another rooms tv(at a moderate noise level) from 2 rooms away. I was on the lower floor so the floors above were creaky and i could hear footsteps very well. I got a total of 2 hours of restless sleep and I do nkt recommend the bottom floor at all!
- Sylvia (8/5): - Please fix the dripping/leaking faucet on the sink, and tighten the toilet seat. The toilet paper holder is broken and needs moved to a different spot, so people won’t hit it.
- Carol (2/5): - It was dirty, had stained towels, hard bed, drain in sink was very slow, noisy HVAC, lousy pillows, etc.
- Verified traveler (6/5): - You get what you pay for, it is great for a cheap place to stay without the bells and whistles.
- Verified traveler (6/5): - I like that i have my own door leading outside and my room was a decent size. I dont like that they dont serve any type of breakfast. I understand why they dont want to cuz of covid
- Verified traveler (8/5): - Nice and quiet. Not far from town. No coffee/tea in room though it did have microwave and fridge.
- Amy (10/5): Awesome - Very clean and very friendly.
- Kimberly (8/5): Moving - Was a stop in my move and the rate was right
- Darrin (10/5): Great hotel - Affordable right off the highway
- Verified traveler (6/5): - my dog got fleas, not pleased with our stay at all. Needs some TLC.
- Verified traveler (2/5): - There was no pool like advertised it was filled in with dirt. No breakfast. Our door was tampered with while we was out for the day. We will never go back to this establishment.
- Marta (2/5): worst hotel I’ve ever seen! - This place was disgusting all the way around inside and out! I did not stay and was refused a Refund! This place should not be in business. GROSS!
- Tammy (6/5): Ot to bad - It was a decent place. A little out dated. My bed was like sleeping on a board and small flat pillows. It was quiet, good f8r a one night stay.
- judy (2/5): - The only good thing I can say was it was close to the hospital. the bad would be we were not allowed more then two towels there was barely any toliet paper on the roll and when I went the office they looked at me like they didn't want to give me any more. The room stunk, there was food behind the night stand that was not ours. The bathroom trash was full and I took a shower which I am only 5'6 and the shower head was hitting the middle of my back. When I got out of the shower and walked over to the bed, the short distance it was the bottom of my feet were completey black and the carpet felt very very dirty. On their website it showed a small outdoor pool but when we got there the pool was filled with dirt and grass but they still had the signs up to not dive. Saw a lot of drug sales goin gon in the parking lot as well
- Ashley (2/5): Unhappy - It was nasty and there was a used towel.
- Marjorie (6/5): Alright when in town cause of price - Decent usual when visiting
- Donald (4/5): Crappy Inn - The breakfast just barely meets the definition. It consisted of your choice of "fruit loops" or "frosted flakes" or how about at least a day old muffin! Then you get to enjoy breakfast in a poorly lighted lobby that has been decorated with an extension ladder leaning against a wall plus 5 gallon paint buckets for that DIY feel.
There was a heavy coating of dust on the filter panel of the A/C unit and a light on saying the filter needed to be replaced. The dust was removed when we got back to the room that evening but the filter was never changed out. Plus the bed wasn't made that first day.
This is an old and worn out facility that someone is trying to squeeze out the last bits. Do not stay here even if the price is appealing.
- Verified traveler (6/5): - The price was exceptional well worth the money the whirlpool tub did not work And my wife had an allergic reaction to something
- Kelli (4/5): Not recommended - Our room was in poor repair, with strips of wall corners that were coming apart. Although a non-smoking room, the pillows reeked of cigarette smoke so badly we couldn’t sleep on them. We would’ve asked for replacements but we checked in late at night after an 18-hour drive and didn’t have the patience. The bathroom toilet is placed so close to the door that when you park your rear it’s like you’re trapped and can’t turn to access the toilet paper, which is also next to the door (and we are not large folks, so I can’t imagine how a stouter person can use those facilities). Overall, I think it’s just a very old building that has not been maintained, let alone updated in any way, and the general smell of the room also told its age. Very disappointing and definitely not worth the price I paid!! But, it was a warm, dry bed and that’s what we needed for one night along our journey. If we had been staying longer, I definitely would have checked out and found somewhere more comfortable and better smelling. It’s very hard for me to write this review because I like to give great recommendations, and I’m not a fussy person, but this was truly an unpleasant room.
- Verified traveler (2/5): - I'm originally from this town and remember when this was built years ago. It was only the 2nd hotel in town at that time. Since then three others have been built and this local place has fallen into a state of disrepair. I was given an accessible room that had ripped carpet, broken light switch covers, three of four light bulbs burnt out, and no toilet paper dispenser on the wall as it had been ripped off the wall and only a couple of holes remained. I hope they can turn it around if they are given some constructive criticism. I would not recommend staying here until they put some money into cleaning the place up.
- Verified traveler (6/5): - Outside was in need of repairs to concrete steps and the pool
- Bridgett (2/5): - I booked this because they had a pool. The pool was an little bit bigger than a hot tub. It was empty. Lining coming out. Very disappointed.
- Verified traveler (2/5): - Room smeeled bad, kids were complaining of allergy irritation al m ost immediately. Holes in the bed comforter, pillow cases looked dirty, toilet looked like it hadn't been cleaned in a long time. Air conditioner had a plastic spoon in it to hold the directional flaps in place. We spent about five minutes in the room before canceling reservation and going elsewhere.
- Verified traveler (6/5): - I got this room because it said there was a pool at this motel, withch there was but it was empty and looked like it had not been used in years.
- Verified traveler (2/5): - Old property, noisy, uncomfortable bed, no useable lighting in bathroom, only muffins and cereal for breakfast
- William (4/5): Not using this service in the future - Desk Clerk very rude and inexperienced at looking up basic reservation information and blamed it on Hotels.com/Expedia - eventually determined he didn’t know how to look up the reservation and found it after all. Was beyond rude and belligerent and refused to look at my electronic confirmation, demanding that only one room was reserved on his system though my confirmation showed two (and they had extra rooms and he eventually discovered both rooms as originally reserved, side-by-side). Beyond strange and argumentative to the point I told him I would take it up with the reservation service and that it sounded like their hotel didn’t need to be serviced by outside reservation services anymore. I was very concerned we would be stuck without the second room and will use a different reservation methodology going forward because the technology failed in this transaction and the human interface was combative and unruly for absolutely no reason.
- Verified traveler (10/5): - It is clean and quiet. Staff friendly and helpful.
- Troy (8/5): Good Sleep - Older place but they do a good job of accommodating you, nice place to sleep. Dogs stay for 10.00
- David (8/5): - The Breakfast was nothing more than muffins sugary cereal, and coffee. No waffles that could be heated up.
We could not adjust the temperature in the room & it ran for2 minutes then kicked off all night long.
We had to park in the parking lot & not next to our room door. So we had to carry our suitcases about a 1/2 block to the room.
- John (10/5): - Nice room. Convenient location. Good staff.
I would stay there again.
- Carol (4/5): If you’re looking for a shady place, this is it. - Thanks to the no cancellation policy of hotels.com I was unable to cancel the reservation and had not realized it was a smoking only room. The room smelled terrible. The pillows smelled like old sweat. The two chairs in the room had duct tape across them and over half of that was missing showing the foam. There were burn marks on the bathtub. The toilet paper holder had been removed and replaced in a different spot with no painting done afterwards. There was a board screwed to the back of the bathroom door. This is closer to what I would expect a $30 per room per night to be. It was definitely not worth $92 per night. I tried to attach photos but for some reason it won’t let me.
- Lawrence (4/5): It’s a bed and shower - Hotels.com wouldn’t give me the phone number of the hotel to verify the pool was in service so I called customer service. They assured me the pool was in service and full until October. When I got to the hotel, the pool was in disrepair. The liner is falling off and the pool has about a foot of brown rain water in it. It appears the pool hasn’t been used in years. The room was pretty rough; ceiling was falling down, toilet paper holder was ripped off the wall, and the carpet was sticky but the linen was clean so at least I felt clean sleeping. The beds aren’t too comfy but didn’t have any stains on them. Chairs are falling apart and the lamps are from the 70’s but they worked so that’s all I ask for. The bathroom had a better tub which got me pretty excited but the drain stopper was ripped out of the tub so I couldn’t fill it with water. Breakfast was sunny D juice and Costco muffins with stale cereal and milk. It sure isn’t the Hilton but will work if you need a place to rest your head.
- Robert (4/5): - No working air conditioning in the room. Very limited items for free breakfast. Coffee, Juice, milk, cereal and muffins is not much selection
- John (8/5): - Good and cnvenent
- Verified traveler (2/5): HORRIBLE EXPERIENCE - The room really smelled bad. The sheets and blanket had holes in them. The pillows were the size of travel pillows. It does not have a continently breakfast. It had cold cereal and mini muffins. The stopper in the tub was completely hanging out of the tub. The swimming pool was condemned. The pool liner was falling off and it was nasty. I can not believe that Travelocity would even has a hotel in such bad shape on your website. No coffee pot in room. They charged us $10- a night for our dog.
- Marvin (2/5): - Filthy room. Stains on floor and on beds. Hair ( not ours) on pillows when taken from under comforter on bed. Brown stains and holes in wash cloths and towels. Cig butts all over parking lot and in graveled areas under stairs. Truly disgusting place. Best feature??! Water pressure. Will NEVER RECOMEND OR STAY THERE AGAIN!!!!!
- kim (6/5): - needs upgrades on the breakfast and the pool was broken so they need to get that fixed
- Verified traveler (6/5): - Sheets and comforters thread worn. Paint peeling and things rusty. Pool out front falling apart.
- Janet (2/5): Don't go there! - May be the worst place I've ever stayed. First place I've ever checked for bed bugs (didn't find any, but there was some kind of little flies). Toilet paper holder broke off the wall, so paper sitting on the back of the tank. Sink stopped up. Had to lay a towel over the chair to sit on it because you stuck to it. I guess the Comfort Inn next door was the place to go.
- Mary (6/5): Not bad. - It was not bad it said it had a pool but it was empty and major problems. I killed 2 roaches. But other wise the people are very nice. The cleaning lady made sure we had everything we needed
- Verified traveler (6/5): Wildly outdated and no noise dampening - The desk staff was very kind and accommodating to us. In addition, the room was clean. However, beyond that, there's not much to be said about this hotel. It was literally like stepping back into the 1970s; I don't think anything has been updated since then. Even has the old metal keys for the doors still. All would have been ok, but we heard every step of the people above us, and noise from someone else's TV. It became a rough night. Breakfast was not up to current day standards either. Again, however, I found the front desk staff very kind.
- Verified traveler (8/5): It was ok - It was decent with no major problems. The room was a no- smoking room, but smelled like it had been, and the smoke-smell was trying to be covered up. We were given clean towels the next day, but the beds were not made..... not sure why they weren’t.
I would stay there again to keep from driving to Springfield for a room, but would try the Comfort Inn first.
- Cheryl (2/5): - Lumpy bed, worn out pillows, threadbare sheets, old TV with bad reception, upholstery on chair was taped together, other peoples' hair on the sheets and in the bathroom. NOT a good experience.
- roger (2/5): Room needed updating .had to play with key in door - Room needed updating .had to play with key in door lock to open .drain was out of tub toilet paper holder was broke .ceilingvent was gone .breakfast was muffins an cereal coffee an juice or milk .coffee was horrible .not a good place.
- Verified traveler (8/5): - It had a bed and a shower, the two things i needed. No frills.
- Shirley (2/5): Not nice - Had a patched wall with no paint on it. Bath tub faucet leaked, no stopper for the bath tub and only 1 set of towels.
- Verified traveler (4/5): I won't do that again - Heater was stuck wouldn't shut off burnt to death all night. They recovered the chairs with duct tape. just sucked totally
- Verified traveler (8/5): - Not overly friendly
- Inez (4/5): Convenient to the location of our visit - Needs updating and repairs.Sheets were dirty.Manager moved us to another room but never offered an apology. He said that he didn't know how that was possible and refused to go see for himself. He just gave us another room. Not overaly cordial.
