- Rolf (9/5): Viktorianische Atmosphäre - Sehr hilfsbereites Personal. Fast schon ironische viktorianische Einrichtung und Atmosphäre. Große, liebevoll eingerichtete Zimmer. Das Essen war ok, aber nicht besonders. Lage: etwas abseits.

- ABDULLAH (1/5): غير راضي - المكان كل شئ فيه سيئ للغاية لا يستحق خمس نجوم
- Neville (3/5): - The location not value for the rate compare with other places in nuwaraeliya

- Arunkumar (8/5): - This property holds historical value, antique furniture and well maintained facilities. We enjoyed a cozy stay, and a lovely garden of the property. The molly suit room is spacious and beautiful. The staff are friendly. The bathroom came with a jaccussi, my daughter loved it. The room heater is electric, and small for the spacious room. We were not comfortable running it overnight in a closed room. The bathroom floors are so cold, we didn't want to enter until it was necessary.

- D. tharanga (7/5): Great location! - ● Great location, easily accessible to major attractions in Nuwara Eliya.
● Comfortable bedding with antique-style amenities.
● Spacious rooms.
● Fully functional Jacuzzi.
● Room heater provided.
● Adequate parking was available. ● There was poor drainage in the bathroom, leading to a consistently wet floor.
● It was difficult to adjust the water temperature, as it fluctuates frequently.
● The supply of drinking water was inadequate; (only one litre of complimentary water was provided for three guests over two days, and there was a charge for additional bottles.)

- Stefan (9/5): Hotel op mooie locatie met nog een Brits sfeertje. - Ruime kamer in een hotel waar de tijd soms heeft stil gestaan.
Heel vriendelijk en behulpzaam personeel.
- Usman (9/5): Great value for money - Location is great
Rooms are spacious
Cleanliness is
We booked half board, cooking was great Carpets on the floor in our room
- Tharindu (10/5): Excellent - Clean and helpful service No
- Vidushi (9/5): Very satisfactory, I highly recommend the Firs - The location, the property and the two cheerful boys Yasa and Shien are very helpful and resourceful . They made our stay very comfortable. The breakfast is superb. Our every small extra request was met with a satisfactory service. Nothing
- Guy (10/5): Best place to stay in Nuwara Eliya - This place was absolutely amazing
Staff were nice and accommodating
- Arunachalam (10/5): Great property - Nice heritage property at Nuwara Eliya. Well maintained. Large rooms. Good hospitality. Food options were limited but food was great. Food options were limited.
- Michelle (8/5): Quite a unique guest house with old English charm - Very quaint with some old English charm. Lovely old house steeped in history. A nice cup of refreshing lemon tea on arrival. Very polite staff. Comfy bed. Decent shower and breakfast. Very quiet so got a great nights sleep Not much. Couldn’t open our window. Could’ve done with a lick of paint here and there
- Pritish (6/5): Pleasant - The room and the ambience was good. Location was good but a bit far Very less facilities. Shower door doesn't close. Curtain blinds were dirty. No centralized geyser system.
- Vincent (8/5): pleasing and restful stay in nice surroundings and great price - this is a lovely colonial-style period property turned in to a small hotel, it used to belong to the prime-minister. our room was large and very comfortable with four-poster bed and original antique furniture. outside there is a nice garden area. no swimming pool or leisure facilities but there was a nice traditional snooker room used for free. great breakfast at good price (we chose the a-la-carte). very friendly staff. it's a short drive to the nearest town called nuwara-eliya. beautiful views of the countryside. no traffic noise outside, we got a good rest. well-worth the price the bath tub could be upgraded (we used the shower instead and that was fine)
- R (7/5): A charming stay, but disrupted by poor soundproofing and allergy triggering bedding. - Spacious rooms with elegant 1800s furniture, a beautiful garden, and a great variety of breakfast options. Poor soundproofing.I could hear conversations from adjacent rooms. Also, something in the bedding triggered an allergy, affecting my face, neck, and body. Luckily, I had antihistamines and used my clothes as a pillow cover to manage.
- Debontika (9/5): Superb - Loved the hospitality.. loved the rooms and the location.
- Zubaidah (6/5): Pleasant - The cottage was beautiful to look at and had a lot of history, which was interesting. It was rhe holiday home of rhe first prime minister of Sri Lanka and still belongs to the family. Some of the wooden furniture were more than 100 years old! The surroundings and grounds were also very well maintained and looked beautiful. We had coffee in the garden in the morning and it was beautiful, cool and crisp weather.
The manager was very helpful and attended to all our needs and questions. Very pleasant to talk to. The room could do with a major overhaul while still keeping the rustic English look. The carpet was dirty and needs to be replaced. The mattress was old, the bathtub was not working properly. The teabags that were left in the room for us were loose teabags (nor individually packed) and just generally feels like an old room. With a little bit of change, this cottage could be so wonderful.
- Debdipta (9/5): Superb -
- Olia (8/5): Very good -
- Geoff (7/5): Good -
- Stephan (5/5): Nothing quite right about this hotel except the staff - The people running the hotel Room was damp and dark even with all lights on.
Not enough bedding so cold should have asked for more bedding probably our fault.
Poor English breakfast not cooked well. Poached eggs hard etc
Hot water only enough for 1 shower then you have to wait 15/20 mins to reheat water supply
To be honest the rooms have probably been like this for 20 more years and desperately need overhaul. Carpets worn and passed cleaning properly. Despite the helpful nice staff im sorry but I cannot recommend this hotel.

- Debasis (8/5): Wonderful heritage property- unduly priced and located far away - Wonderful heritage property.
Very well maintained
Helpful staff Location - far away from the lake and town-centre. You are stuck without personal transport
Price - much more than what it should be
- Radhakrishnan (9/5): Superb - An excellent property with a history. Very friendly and helpful staff who made our stay worth every moment.
- Omar (6/5): Pleasant -
- Junita (6/5): Pleasant - The hotel is not a 4 star property for the facilities. The room carpet was worn out and bathroom outdated.
- Gauraav (8/5): Very good -
- Abhishek (9/5): Amazing Stay with a nice view. - Location, Rooms, comfortable and peaceful stay. The staff was good and they never denied us anything. We loved the stay and will visit it again in the future, maybe with a bigger group. We asked for dinner and breakfast but they said their cook was not there, Although the manager apologised for the same. Toiletries could have been better.
- Mengyu (10/5): Exceptional -
- Dom (9/5): Very nice bedroom - Well equipped and very nice bedrooms.
- Kathir (10/5): A perfect place for an enjoyable stay - Wonderful location. Excellent facilities suited our family of 11 perfectly .Helpful staff , gave all the help to make our stay memorable. Decor seems a little tired in places

- Prabhashwara (9/5): Superb -
- Hardik (10/5): Exceptional - Everything was great - no downside really. This was a boutique hotel crafted on the English/British theme. The views were good though couldn't see the gregory lake overlooking from the hotel which other hotels may offer.
- Ktrohinkumar (9/5): Superb -
- Álvaro (10/5): Exceptional - It was a wonderful experience, staying in The Firs, summer residence of the first Sri Lankan Prime Minister, Sir D. S. Senanayake. All the staff always does the best to satisfy customers, and they are excelent persons.
Also, the pool room is luxurious! Nothing, the place is the best to stay in Nuwara Eliya!
- De (10/5): Exceptional -
- Patricia (8/5): Enjoyed it very much. - We had evening meals and breakfast and we were very happy as we didn’t have to leave the property.
The weather was very wet and windy and the roads were not what we were used to ie lots of pot holes as a couple of roads were closed due to trees falling on them. Had an issue with the door not being very secure,
We enjoyed our stay : welcoming was lovely;
We played pool each night.
Staff were friendly and helpful.
- Sameera (9/5): Superb - Property cleanliness and friendly staff Room facilities need to be improved and blankets should be more comfortable
- Prathap (10/5): Exceptional -
- Charith (10/5): One of the best stays in my travel history - That is one of the best properties I have ever stayed at. Perfect atmosphere for those who want stress less stay. Sudarshan and his team doing their best to make the visitors comfortable. You go to the place with everything, Sudarshan and his team will come to you with open hearts. Nothing
- Shadab (10/5): Exceptional -
- Midori (7/5): good - breakfast you don’t have any balcony
- Dhananjaya (10/5): Exceptional -
- Dissanayake (9/5): Best ever stay in Nuwara Eliya - It was a memotable expereince since we turn to the accessway to the hotel. We were met by a very freindly and cheerful gentlemen (I guess his name is Michael) as we parked our car. He helped us with our bags and escprted us to the reception. Hot towel and warm welcome drink (guess it was green tea) were served. Checking process went super past and we were given the rooms in very quick time. Suits we booked lived up to expectations. They were spacious and furnished with antique furniture. Bathroom had a covered shower cubile and a spa bathtub. Supply of hot water did not dry out as in case of many other properties we stayed during our previous visits. Team led by Sudhaeshan were excellent hosts and attended to all our needs kindly and professionaly. Sisira did and excellent job at the dining room and was very tollerent and accomodative with our kids. Regret not remembering the name of young gentlemen work alongside Sisira at the meal room. Food; made to order was fresh, deliciuos abd filling. Chef deserves a very big thank you. I could have preffered a softer mattress and larger TV in the room. SPA Bath too need more attention and upkeep. Door locks can be made easier to operate.
- - (10/5): Exceptional - friendly staff, Manager is very attention. Good food.
- Wasala (9/5): Superb - Nature
- Kasun (10/5): Exceptional -
- Balazs (7/5): Outdated rooms with attentive staff - - manager is really helpful
- location is beautiful, bear in mind that you have to walk 20mins to the center
- breakfast
- colonial feeling - really cold in the shower, the heating unit provided in the room was really smelly (burnt smell)
- bed cover / floor is really outdated
- you have to hustle with tuktuk drivers recommended by managers because they would like to charge you outrageous prices
- Vijayanand (10/5): Exceptional - We loved the property and the warm hospitality of the staff who took care of our food preferences and made sure our stay was comfortable.
- Sivasubramaniam (4/5): Disappointing -
- Amit (8/5): Very good - Property was excellent, good views Staff was very rude and did not make us feel welcome at place.
- Christine (8/5): Very good - Very chintzy and quaint. Quiet. Nice staff, very helpful and friendly. Food OK … fills the gap! Small but pretty garden. Relaxing.
Location a Tuk tuk away from town (500 rupees).
- Lisa (8/5): This quaint and charming hotel is wonderful for a night or two. Beautiful gardens and view. - We arrived late at this hotel and were warmly greeted by staff who spoke little English. A few things got lost in translation but we got there in the end. The whole hotel was like stepping back in time, the rooms, the dining room, fine china service at breakfast. The Firs was definately good value for money when we saw the view over Nuwara Eliya and met wild ponies out the front. The Firs is old fashion with a sort of "Faulty Towers" feel about it but I would stay here again. The hotel could do with a refurbishment soon. The bathroom ceiling had quite a lot of mold which was disturbing. Our room had no storage at all.
- Wigge (10/5): Exceptional - Perfect location, walking distance to the center but calm Environment ,
Room and Service very good,
Will come back
- Rukshica (4/5): Disappointing - The property (location and venue) Behaviour of the staff which sent me to the police station and in remand for one day. Very poor coordination and treatment for customers.
- Nandun (7/5): Very nice staff , quiet and okayish place for the price ( wasn’t really a 5 star stay to be honest ) . - Very attentive, friendly and helpful staff . Quiet and beautiful location . Spacious room. I had not ordered breakfast in advance. But the kind and nice staff arranged breakfast on request in the morning . That is nice of them. Overall , it was an okay stay . Wi-Fi was too weak. Hot water was not working properly. I tried American breakfast , but it wasn’t up to expectations for the price tag . But the other guests who tried Indian breakfast said it was really delicious. Probably I should have tried Sri Lankan or Indian . Bathroom could have better hot water control .
- Asanga (10/5): Exceptional -
- Brian (6/5): Pleasant - We found it a little dark and austere very old fashioned Very old property with a lot of history but not to our taste
- Janarthanan (8/5): Very good - Food was so delicious and friendly staff
- Laxman (10/5): A great Holiday - Everything about the place. The location, facilities and most importantly the service provided by Sudharshan and his staff
A great place for those desiring a quiet holiday The only concern we had was the approach to the Front entrance where a series of steps have to negotiated which could hamper anyone with limited agility
- Salman (6/5): It’s okay - The design of the place, the location and breakfast options. On our second night the place was loud all night and people chatting in front of the room for hours, quite hard to sleep especially with the lack of soundproofing.
- Insiya (8/5): Very good - The staff was good, the rooms were clean and spacious. The view from the hotel is Serene. The food was also fantastic The jacuzzi was not working and the was no intercom in our room
- Alekhya (10/5): Exceptional - The location is exceptional. It is on top of the hill in Nuwara eliya. It is close to Gregory lake too. The room had a quite vintage style look. It had a very nice balcony which provided the view of tea estates. The outside view of the house is full of gardens and flowers. The food was excellent. Indian breakfast was also provided. It is close to Nuwara eliya town. It has a good bathroom.
- Mohamed (10/5): Exceptional -
- Jaap (9/5): A stay in "style" - It is a small property with some 5 rooms and I think they can accommodate approx 14-15 people at the same time. We received a very warm and friendly welcome. We had a wonderful room with all amenities we could wish. Since it can be cold at night we even had an electric heater in the room. We decided to have dinner in the hotel which we enjoyed very much.
Service by the staff is commendable.
Also the breakfast the next morning was fantastic, with freshly squeezed juice, fresh fruit platter, pancakes with butter, jam and marmelade and eggs any style one desires, plus of course coffee or tea. The management was very helpful in arranging a chauffeured car to take us from Nuwara Eliya to Tangalle on the south coast. From the hotel we walked all around the near-by Gregory Lake. We enjoyed the view from the hotel over the surrounding area. We can definitely recommend this hotel to anyone who enjoys a stay in "style". Can't really think of anything as also the WiFi worked very well at this property contrary to many other places we stayed.
- Yuchih (10/5): Exceptional - A place full of history. We enjoy our stay and the British type of butler’s service. 👍
- Maduri (9/5): Excellent stay - Location, amazing staff, food.. it looks exactly how it is shown in the pictures.. Nothing
- Alex (10/5): Great historical stay in rainy Nuwara Eliya - A very quality stay. The place is a former holiday house of Sri Lanka‘s (independent) first PM. It‘s a good, sturdy house whose architecture is influenced by that of England (a common thing in Nuwara Eliya in general).
Our room was spacious, had a very nice view on (I reckon) their garden. Or, some plantation. Anyway, it was green and beautiful and moody (because it‘s raining pretty much non-stop in Nuwara Eliya).
Bathroom was big and clean and with hot water. There was a bathtub beside the shower but we didn‘t give it a try.
It felt like we were the only visitors and the guys were cooking just for us. Kind of a private chef experience.
Food was good. However, don‘t take their Full English Breakfast option — it was mediocre at best. Their Indian and Lankan options are 10x better. —
- Prosenjit (10/5): We are coming from Kandy to this place and the supervisor name Yasatheeban makes us feel so comfortable once we reach in - The property is very clean and well maintained. Everything is so good here. Nothing to complain
- Rakesh (7/5): Good heritage value but limited facilities. - Room size, colonial world charm. Limited menu and meal portions.Smelly pillows and blankets. At best a three star property.
- Ramesh (9/5): hosts were very nice and extremely helpful. - Did not opt for breakfast. That barbecue can be arranged only when I book the whole property.
- Viraj (10/5): Fir’s make us happy faces ❤️ - I’m fully satisfied about their treatment and foods. Very friendly staff and nice place to enjoy vacations❤️ Nothing
- Sandip (7/5): Good -
- Linchao (9/5): Nice host Sudharshan, nice staff, very enjoyable environment with beautiful garden and firs trees. Worthy of next stay i - Environment excellent
Staff super nice The bed in double bed room is not long enough for me(171CM), couldn’t stretch my feet as much as I wanted.
- Sandali (9/5): Superb - The staff was very pleasant and helpful
- Satyaki (10/5): Heritage Property - Best choice to stay at Nuwara Eliya - The best property that I could have booked, at a steal deal price.
The heritage property belonged to SL's first prime minister. The rooms are spacious, and with best amenities!
- Sl (9/5): A charming colonial bungalow - Lovely to be in the country home of the first PM of Sri Lanka and his descendants. A really charming cottage with beautiful antique furniture especially the four poster beds. We enjoyed reading in the living room overlooking a very English type garden with many flowers. Nothing
- Hemanth (9/5): Superb -
- Seyher (10/5): Exceptional -
- Sharmila (7/5): Hotel with an old charm - The property has an old charm offering a great view. Sudharshan and the other staff were helpful. The actual guest rooms need to be maintained properly. The carpet was very old and had dirty marks on. It looked like it has expired it's use by date. Also didn't like the moulds in the shower and bathroom.
