Guest Reviews
- Søren (9/5): Excellent experience and wonderful staff - Very authentic Nothing
- Denise (10/5): Thank you - Nature Bees
- Tanja (10/5): If you want to experience these beautiful people and their culture, this is a great start! We are definitely hooked! - Everything and especially the breathtaking location
Especially Lucas, Anthony and all the ladies where amazing! We have done a million game drives back at home in RSA - but the day with Lucas has absolutely blown our mind. It was the best game drive in my life! Everything was great

- Susan (10/5): Outstanding, unique and memorable - a must do in a visit to Tanzania. - It was a once in a lifetime experience. Located in the middle of nowhere and with the most stunning views you could imagine. The staff were amazing, and the room was so well equipped and comfortable. The food was excellent as were the activities. I can’t say enough about Original Maasai Lodge, just to try and fit it in. It is worth the crazy, dusty drive! Absolutely nothing
- Jordi (10/5): Amazing stay - Everything is good All is good

- Richard (9/5): Great but not easy to get to - Good food, great rural location, friendly staff Finding the place proved difficult. It's a very spread out, very rural area so worth preparing well and leaving time. It would help if the name Amini Lodge was used and better signposted as the term Masaai Lodge is too open to misinterpretation by locals.
- Goda (10/5): Exceptional -
- Amos (10/5): Massai land - Customer service staff go way above and beyond to make sure every detail of the trip is SUPERB!!! They do not take pay pal and it was on the options to pay
- Sean (9/5): Superb -
- Mafalda (10/5): Amazing stay - We liked everything in this property. Everything was just perfect. We highly recommend. The food is amazing, the service is amazing and warm, all the experiences and people in this place are just incredible
- Maura (10/5): Exceptional -
- Helen (10/5): Exceptional -
- Joachim (10/5): Maasai at its best! - What a great lodge to begin a most remarkable journey in Tanzania! The buildings are terrific in Maasai style. But what is the most important thing: it’s run by the Maasai and lovely taken care of! We loved to sit on our terrace and watch Kilimanjaro. We enjoyed the food, drinks and hospitality. We will come again, is gods willing! Everything!

- Samuel (10/5): Amazing stay in Tanzania - Great peaceful location - Delicious food - Fantastic staff - We had a wonderful 3 days at the Original Maasai Lodge and we enjoyed learning more about the Maasai people who are very happy and outgoing people.
Very peaceful place to stay in Tanzania.
Located between the world famous Kilimanjaro mountain and the the Mauro mountains.
Our chef prepared really delicious food for breakfast, lunch and dinner. The portion were very big, fresh and tasty and included in our booking.
We had a fantastic staff: Mariam and Leah our waitress and bartender are very friendly and helpful.
Lowassa and Phillip our drivers and guides were a lot of fun and informative.
We had a super fun Maasai dance every evening around sunset followed by Maasai TV (large campfire and storytelling). A nice dinner was next.
We had a nice mud cottage with running water and electricity.
Everything was fantastic and we really enjoyed ourselves in the wonderful clean pool.
We enjoyed a great game drive before going to the airport. This place in very remote and the roads are full of rocks very bumpy.
- Daniel (10/5): Exceptional -
- Harry (10/5): One of the high lights of our trip so far - This a totally unique place to stay and one of the highlights of our trip so far
It is run by the local maasai and is a community project which generates multiple benefits for the local Maasai community
It is in a remote location between Meru and Kilimanjaro reached by some very rough roads - Landcruiser needed. You do wonder where you are going but it is well sign posted.
The welcome is warm colourful and musical ! The accommodations are clean, well provided with fantastic views
The staff are all relaxed, friendly and very welcoming.
The free morning guided bush walk and the evening spear throwing are also a high light
The food is good and the Maasai BBQ around the fire with Maasai TV not to be missed.
Two nights here is needed and a great place to chill out and relax
Safaris are great but this provides another dimension to your visit to Tanzania
- Dorit (10/5): Exceptional - I recently had the privilege of staying at the Original Maasai Lodge Africa Amini Life, and it was an unforgettable experience. The standout feature of this lodge is undoubtedly its outstanding staff. From the moment I arrived, I was warmly welcomed by the Maasai team, who were not only incredibly friendly but also highly knowledgeable about the local culture and wildlife.
The lodge's location is simply amazing. It is nestled within the pristine landscapes of Africa, offering breathtaking views of the surrounding wilderness. It truly provides a sense of immersion in the heart of nature, with wildlife roaming freely in the vicinity.
The atmosphere at the lodge is both tranquil and captivating. The traditional Maasai decor and design create an authentic and inviting ambiance. It's the perfect place to unwind and disconnect from the hustle and bustle of modern life.
One of the most memorable experiences during my stay was the walking tour near wildlife animals. It was a rare opportunity to get up close to nature's most magnificent creatures, guided by Maasai warriors who shared their deep understanding of the ecosystem. It's an experience that I will cherish forever.
Last but not least, the food at the Original Maasai Lodge is truly premium. The culinary offerings are a delightful blend of local flavors and international cuisine, prepared with care and presented beautifully. Each meal was a culinary journey that added to the overall experience.
In conclusion, the Original Maasai Lodge Africa Amini Life is a remarkable destination that seamlessly combines outstanding staff, an amazing location, a great atmosphere, unforgettable wildlife encounters, and premium dining. It's a place where you can connect with nature, experience the rich Maasai culture, and create lasting memories. I highly recommend it to anyone looking for a unique and enriching African safari experience. None
- Joanne (10/5): One of the worlds hidden gems 💎 - Went beyond our expectations, it was the most beautiful place we've ever stayed in, the staff are incredible, attentive and made the stay 6*
From morning safari walk, too spear throwing, maasai dance and group get together around the firepit. The whole time, we felt like we were living experiencing maasi Village, with the exception of the level of subtle luxury and good standard of food.
All the best from maasai White Boy and Mum Charlie (our names) We loved every part of this. We really didn't want to leave.
The food is incredible, 3x courses linch and dinner.
Would be beneficial to maybe have 2x meal options at the beginning of the day, which would reduce wastage. As we aren't great varied eaters, the option would have been useful for us.
- Harriet (10/5): Wow! What a welcome and what an amazing place to stay. A fantastic and memorable experience - incredible views, fantastic staff and food.
- Matthew (10/5): Exceptional - Food and original maasai traditions Transportation organised by the lodge was very expensive and not in line with millage covered.
- Davy (10/5): A unique experience where you get an impression of the life of Maasai! Loved it! - Everything! The perfect ending of our trip in Tanzania / Zanzibar... A unique experience where you get an impression of the life of Maasai... Off course everything is adapted to the needs of a tourist traveler, but nevertheless the authenticity and details are overwhelming... and the view from your room when you wake up is simply amazing! The crew have a lovely energy and they take you on a bushtour, spearthrowing, ... and the food is also amazing! The fact that this project supports Maasai and education only makes it more unique! We absolutely loved it!
- Anderson (10/5): Exceptional -
- Jason (8/5): Very good -
- Randolph (10/5): Unique Experience Like None Other - the place is one of a kind. the staff was AMAZING and everyone went above and beyond. the food was delicious and although location isn’t ideal, this place is an experience so don’t expect to stay here and like site see everyday elsewhere, doesn’t make much sense. although they offer a lot of excursions through the lodge. we stayed for 3 nights and 2 days and hiked Kilimanjaro while staying here. we went during a dry season and it was cold but that was to be expected given the lodging style please pay your workers more money. the owner is a white Australian woman who supposedly doesn’t pay well which is sad
- Michael (10/5): Beautiful place, perfect to immerse yourself into Masaai culture! - From the moment we arrived, we were greeted with such great hospitality and warmth, that we felt home right away. The lodge is set beautifully in the hills between Mount Meru & Mount Kilimanjaro and the room - a Masaai Boma - was beautifully decorated with lots of love, warm water and very comfy beds. There are lots of activities that you can do; we arrived around 11 am after a night-flight and immediately were greeted with coffee, Tea & self-made cookies. In the afternoon we took a Bush walk with a Masaai guide and walked close to giraffes, saw gazelles, etc. The spear-throwing competition later on and the Masaai singing and dancing was really fun and very entertaining - and the best, happiest that we witnessed during out trip to Tanzania. The food was very delicious, self-cooked and included some local & traditional specialties. Overall, this was such a wonderful stay - we wished we had stayed for more than just one night. An absolute recommendation on your Tanzania trip!!!! Thank you to the entire team for such a wonderful time! Absolutely no negative points.
- Catherine (10/5): Superb! - The location was surreal- scenic views of the surrounding savanna with acacia trees dotted all around and Mount Meru in the distance. Kilimanjaro was shy so we didn’t get to see that, but it was still awesome. The Staff were absolutely hospitable, always lending a helping hand. They were extra patient and friendly with our four year old who turned five there (we got a cake made and they sang in Swahili for him. Food was great as well. And learning about the Maasai way of living and community projects was the cherry on the top. The experience was just life-changing. We loved every single thing.
- Fiona (8/5): A unique experience and a fantastic stay - Stunning Maasai lodge in Engare Nanyuki
Amazing views, surrounded by nature and wildlife
Not cheap but good for a couple of days of peace and nature walks. takes a while to get there from either Arusha or Kili but we’ll worth the trip
