The lake view room was stunning, and the sunset by the lake was absolutely breathtaking — easily one of the highlights of our trip. A very special thank you to Kristine for her warm hospitality and thoughtful care throughout our stay. She was incredibly welcoming, attentive to all of our needs, and made us feel comfortable right away. She also knows the area very well and gave us wonderful local recommendations that really helped us enjoy Door County even more. We especially appreciated having a kitchen to cook our own meals, which made the stay feel relaxing and convenient for our family. The location was also excellent — only about 10–15 minutes from the main attractions and very close to the ferry for Washington Island, making day trips super easy. My parents were especially happy during this stay, and the peaceful lake atmosphere made the whole experience feel cozy, memorable, and special. Highly recommend!

- LeeAnn (2/5): Overpriced, run down, owner has an attitude - The location was great. It is at the top of the Peninsula and away from the congested touristy towns so it was nice and quiet. Close to 1 restaurant and boat tours. Views of the lake. Way over priced for what we paid. I recently stayed in a luxury hotel in Chicago for just slightly more than I paid for this 2 star property. It just happened to be the only the only vacancy we could find for the weekend. Property not well kept up. The room reeked of mildew. It was terrible. Beds are very old and well used. We were initially charged for my daughter’s service dog and given attitude when telling the owner it is in fact a medical service dog with a bright pink vest stating service dog.
- Heather (4/5): - I hate to give a bad review, and maybe we just had a bad room (Spinnaker), but I want to be honest so other travelers know what to expect. Our room was musty and humid our entire stay (three nights). The room was clean enough, but it needed some deep cleaning, and it was pretty worn. It needed paint touch-up’s and a few other projects. We thought since there was a kitchenette and cabinets that there wld be dishes and cutlery, but we only had two small coffee cups, two tiny spoons, and two decaf and regular coffee pods (and we reserved the room for four people for three nights). The pillows and mattresses were pretty lumpy. Also the compound was kind of confusing. We didn’t see any signage for the communal kitchen and sauna, although we didn’t walk around knocking on doors either. I wasn’t expecting anything flash, but it just felt run-down. The photos of the beautiful stone and beam kitchenette must be the communal kitchen that we didn’t see. It’s in a good location if you like the quieter part of DC.

- Nicole (10/5): - We absolutely loved our stay here! The Commodore room was clean and comfortable. The beds were cozy with nice linens. We appreciated the convenience of the small kitchenette with a coffee maker, microwave, sink, and mini fridge. We had a charming balcony perfect for drinking coffee. We ate our meals at the little dining table that had a lovely view of the lake. The community room had a fully equipped kitchen for preparing meals, interesting books and a fireplace. There is also an outdoor sauna that is perfect for the winter time. We honestly felt so relaxed and peaceful, we did not want to leave. We can't wait to come back!

Two different kinds of shower heads in shower and good hot water supply. Access to full kitchen in Great Room. Near the water so could walk over and watch the sunset. Relatively close to the ferry terminal for Washington Island. Very aged - scaling paint outdoors, marked up walls in room diminished feeling of cleanliness, bugs on ceiling, floor very dusty. The bathroom setup while roomy has inadequate place to set things on (toiletries, clean clothes for changing), toilet seat not sturdy, could have used a toilet brush given limited flush distribution of water in the bowl, not having someone onsite to ask questions. More expensive than I would have liked to pay for these accommodations.
- Kathleen (8/5): - It was a big room. Shower was huge, clean. Some people don't like that it on the outskirts but we did. Everything is a close drive. Just could use a fan in the room. It had been humid so that would if helped. Bed very soft but that is our problem, not anyone else's.

I didn't love the dark long hairs all over the bathroom floor and the bathroom floor was sticky.... the well-worn mattresses and flat pillows had my husband and i both tossing and turning all night. The yard and outdoor areas were very pretty and a lot of effort put into that. The view from our window was really pretty too. It was just fine for our family but the dirty bathroom was the part that really bothered me.

- Paul (8/5): Cute kitchy room in the northwoods. - Lots of outdoor gathering areas, close to the Washington Island Ferry, room was clean, big shower with 2 different shower heads, one on either side of the shower, very comfortable bed and pillows, walking distance to Harbor for fireworks show! Very difficult to see/use the keypad in the dark and parking wasn't the greatest-it was located on the other side of the building from our room, the view was only if you were outside the room.

It rained the weekend we were there and we loved our room and the views while enjoying the rain. We even watched a good movie from the supply in the main kitchen/living room.

- Adam (2/5): - Hello I have issues with people in communication in Harbor Inn, when we coming nobody answer phone only text messages.Yesterday I checked my credit card charge me 150.00 dollars for my Aminal Support dog .Nobody tells anything about,no answer phone,text messages we can do it ….We travel with our animals support all time ,we been so many places and states never happened anything like this,also we send animals support dog card Harbor Inn but still they Charge ous.Place is nice but communication with personal is problem only text messages.Thank you Have nice day Adam

- Sandra (10/5): - Love the quietness of the area. Property was easy to find. Check in was easy. Room was roomy and just right. Bed was a bit soft and in need of replacement. Had a coffee maker and frig which was just the right size. Clean property and rooms. The office/common room had dishes, stove and microwave, etc if you wanted to cook food/meal. Would recommend and will stay there again. There is a small park just around the corner of the hotel if you want to sit by the water.

- Gwen (8/5): - Nice, quiet place in a good location. The location is within walking distance of a nice supper club, the bay is just across the road, and there are lovely hiking areas nearby. Less touristy and populated than the other Door County towns, Gills Rock seemed just north enough to be a real place. Our room was spacious and nice. Instructions for arriving and code entrance were good, though it was not clear that the rooms all have separate entrances and are scattered on every side of each buildings. As we were trying the front door to see if it led to the other rooms, someone cleaning a room greeted us with a “didn’t you read your email!?” and we never saw another soul during our stay. Sauna was nice.

We did not like the musty smell, that presumably came from the AC unit. We ended up not using the AC unit, and sleeping with one of the windows open. By the time we left, it smelled less musty, Yet, maybe consider checking the filter on the unit.

Couch bed not too bad. King bed of course way better. Nice updated shower. Mini fridge and micro in room but a great kitchen you can cook your own food in. Kitchen you share with others but we only ever saw one other family who were lovely. Some rooms have kitchinettes. This place was beautiful. Easy contactless check.in. Inn keeper always around. I will definitely book again! Fell in love with this area.

The rustic vibe of the place surrounded by trees will give an added feel of peace and relaxation. He even set up a bonfire for us to enjoy the cold fall weather fall at night at the backyard. It’s worth the 4.5 hours drive from the Chicagoland area. This place is highly recommended and very near the Washington Ferry Island ferry station in case folks would want to visit the Washington Island for a day trip. warm thanks again Eric for the superb accommodation!

- Sarah (10/5): Unique Inn - My husband and I had a nice time staying at the Harbor Light Inn. It was a unique experience. There is no front desk, so you check in with an access code. If you do not receive an email from them 24 hours prior to your trip, make sure to call the Inn so they can sort this out. When you make the reservation, you get a room name, so when you get there you drive around the building and find the parking spot with your room name and then the room is also written on the door to your room and you enter your access code and you are in! We arrived when it was dark out so it was great to have these instructions, hope this helps future guests!
- Andrea (8/5): - The futon couch was broken. The grounds keeper is a wonderful guy and wants to accommodate but he is only one person that services the whole complex. The Troll Cottage we stayed is charming but parts are falling apart. The stairs going to 2nd floor is STEEP so watch out! Only 1 bathroom on 1st floor. Small but functional kitchen...the toaster was broken and then the little coffee pot broke the next day. Loved the outside porches and private backyard with fire pit. That was real nice and the big trees added to the charm along with surrounding buildings. The grounds keeper is a delight, friendly...but it is ez to see he is only one person and could use a hand with these units which are many...Overall we enjoyed our time here and we love being on the tip of Door County since we had the time to travel during the day...all day long.

- Mary Lou (8/5): - Eric, the caretaker, started a fire each night for us to sit by! Very nice. Also immediately responded to broken lamp in our room and fixed it. No hangers on the lovely rack in hall, nor enough shelves or towel bars in bathroom. Bed was most comfortable. Front door screen was torn and door unable to close fully. Thankfully no mosquitoes in Sept! The caretaker did a great job! Owner needs to fix the place up- paint, doors, sulfur smell whenever hot water was used. Room was very clean! Nice little table area for snacks and coffee. Sat on porch in the sun both late afternoons. There is a great room for common use which we didn’t use, but was fully stocked! Worth the drive at the end of the road in Gills Rock.
- Allan (8/5): - It was a lovely stay in the quiet area of Door County. Nice location near the lake and ferry to Washington Island. Comfortable, roomy space. However, know that there are no amenities in Gils Rock except for a little store that closes at five.
- Yurika (8/5): - A small but cozy inn. Stayed at Spinnaker Suite. It was perfect for us (a family of three).
- Jeffrey (10/5): - Nice quiet place off the beaten path. Easy to rent and pay!
- Joy and Kevin (8/5): Check in email was never received, causing delays - We never received the email containing the code for our contactless check in, so we weren't able to have a smooth check in because we had to call hotels.com and also the property.
- BONNIE (10/5): Perfect for our Mother-Daughter Getaway - Harbor Light Inn was the perfect place for our mother-daughter getaway. The grounds were private; the location was quiet and beautiful with a view of the bay; the rooms were clean and comfortable (although just a hint musty--barely noticeable); and the response time for additional needs was within minutes. Most impressive was the community room which had a very nice, well-stocked full kitchen, dining area with a large table, and a couch and chairs. We shared most of our meals and visiting here. On the last night of our stay, we enjoyed some time around the fire pit. We would stay again...and we would recommend Harbor Light Inn.
- Linda (10/5): Really, really nice! - The room with step-out balcony looking at the bay was wonderful! We had a kitchenette, table and chairs, 4-cup coffee maker and frig. They supplied a second luggage rack and plenty of towels, etc. The keyless entry was nice. No worries about losing our keys. The location is nice, too. Not far from a lot of haps in Sister Bay and not far from the ferries out to the islands.
