Guest Reviews
- Kay (9/5): -
- Wim (9/5): Keurig Hotel in typische Engelse stijl. - Leuke plaats en buiten een heel mooi terras.
Vooral nu de kleine Eendjes die net geboren waren.
Heerlijk gegeten en avonds nog een mooie wandeling gemaakt
- Jackson (8/5): Great country inn - Good value, friendly staff. Large room. Food was good Slight traffic noise
- Courtney (9/5): - It wasbeautiful and the family room was perfect
- Laura (6/5): It did the job…. - Good location- plenty of parking.
Comfy beds and well equipped. The bathrooms could do with a deep clean.
- Carole (8/5): Generally, a good stay in a lovely area with good food. - Room was nice, bed was comfortable. Food was good. Everyone was very friendly. Lovely outside space for walking the dogs. Only slight let down was the cleanliness of the room, a few cobwebs and dusty bits.
- Kevin (9/5): Nice stay - The room was good,,well appointed and clean and spacious,,and welcome pack for dogs,,, although attention was needed to wooden floor outside bathroom, very creaky .. The fire door outside room 1 was badly fitting and kept hitting it's frame in the wind leading to a broken nights sleep ,,, and a hidden service charge on food and drink served outside
- Grant (10/5): -
- Wanda (10/5): Peaceful stunning place to stay nice food great four poster bed that was so comfortable fab breakfast just down road to - Lovely old pub with lots of character pretty surroundings Noting we enjoyed our stay no faults
- Frances (9/5): -
- Celeste (8/5): Country pub stay - It was a traditional pub and inn. Which we liked. Had a lovely stream and outdoor garden area. The food was good, with fair prices. Great staff.
- Stephen (9/5): - The room and facilities were very good. The breakfast was also good. On the night of my stay I had to wait 1 hour 20 minutes for my food, it was a burger and chips. Quite frankly I would have had a better one at McDs at a third of the price and within 5 minutes!
- Elaine (9/5): Very good - Just perfect for our trip to centre park stayed before and after Provided everything we required
- Paul (9/5): - Great room. Downstairs had alcohol free IPA on draught, which is a real treat outside London.
- Sally (10/5): Very enjoyable would stay again . definitely recommend - Our room was lovely, clean and well decorated. Lovely freshly made shortbread on arrival in our room along with tea & coffee facilities. It was clean & spacious. Tables in the restaurant were nicely spaced apart. All the staff were welcoming and friendly they couldn’t do enough for you.
Very local to Longlest, just a 10 min drive.
- Aaron (8/5): Stayed only 1 night for a stop over, staff was friendly and I would return again in the future - Nice room and good atmosphere within the bar N/a

- Aditi (9/5): Great stay, slept like a baby. Wonderful breakfast and staff - The bunk bed for my child was great and we had a super king bed! Thick layer of dust behind the desk
- Peter (9/5): Great coaching inn in a great location - Quality / comfort of room was excellent. Good bed and had a small fridge containing water and fresh milk for coffee and tea facilities. Nice touch to leave homemade shortbread for first night. Good location for Center Parcs, Warminster, Stonehenge etc
- Georgina (5/5): Overpromised and undelivered. The food was particularly disappointing, - The breakfast met the minimum requirements of what was promised. Toast forgotten from one of our breakfasts, cold hash browns, heavily fried. The room was incredibly hot, and some areas were covered in dust and fluff. There were multiple black hairs on one of the beds, and no fitted sheet on the other which meant we slept on a bare, old mattress. Damp in some corners of the room too.
The food was particularly bad. Dinner as burnt and everything tasted bitter like it had been fried in old oil. Made a complaint at the time and they did swap one dish for a pizza, which was the only edible dish. Breakfast equally poor and not much care there in the kitchen overall.
- Sajin (9/5): -
- Sophia (10/5): - Really good pub, enjoyable Sunday meal, friendly staff, very comfortable room and a good breakfast Only thing, there was a service charge added automatically to the bill for supper.
- Hamilton (10/5): -
- Eberhard (8/5): -
- Chris (6/5): Comfortable bed, poor reception, good facilities shame about all the problems - Large clean and comfortable room, well appointed Rain shower did not work, Wi-Fi didn’t work, TV didn’t work and too many noises prevented me sleeping
- Nicky (9/5): - The staff were great and so was the food! They made a great fuss of my friend's dog too. Slight issue with creaking floorboards but that really can't be helped in an old building.
- Paul (8/5): Great rooms above a lovely pub. - Very helpful and friendly staff. Great food with an excellent breakfast in particular.
- Richard (8/5): Lovley welcoming pub - staff, accommodation and food were all excellent Bathroom needed a little bit of TLC
- Liz (8/5): -
- Egor (8/5): -
- Rachael (7/5): Location is great after a Spa day at Longleat. - The bed was really comfortable and loved the selection of tea selection and the toiletries, which were provided smelt lovely. We chose to have tapas for our evening meal. It was good. There is so much to choose from for breakfast. We had an egg floretin and it was lovely, thank you. I was a bit confused on arrival where to check in? We went to the bar.
It could do with a hoover and a dust in places.
- Tim (8/5): Great spot , did what we needed and with a smile. - location great. Staff Great, beer lovely, food fine, service tops nothing really .
- Eadon (9/5): -
- Mairi is now retired (8/5): A lovely wee Inn and not too costly -
- Jennifer (10/5): Fantastic stay in the friendliest, best pub/hotel - Staff so friendly, everyone love puppies, rooms amazing, great food for dinners and breakfasts, lovely space. Can’t recommend highly enough.
- Kieron (8/5): -
- David (8/5): -
- Joanne (7/5): Nice staff lovely Breakfast - Breakfast was really good Location was good for longleat Noisy we were near the back door and could hear it banging , room could do with a freshen up with paint and bath needed new beading
- Michael (7/5): -
- Ben (8/5): Perfect comfortable stay - Staff and facilities were fantastic, food in the evening was fantastic. Breakfast from the cooked menu wasn’t the best
- James (1/5): - The breakfast was basic not warm on the first morning
The water for tea and coffee was like warm
You had to ask for butter jam and marmalade was in large jars and not hygienic looking.
The teapot badly stained looked like they had never been washed in hot soap water also scum on the water when poured.
The room was not clean very dusty dirty stained mugs in the room
The towels where flat and warm the toilet had urine marks ( we washed down with wipes we purchased)
Our friends had to shower in our room during the stay due to no hot water in there rooms
Having switched rooms
Told the duty manager was not a plumber
We had a meal in the restaurant which was a total disaster food cold chips under cooked ham that was sour tasting and slimy in all a terrible meal for us all 10 sold in total
I would not recommend this place to eat or stay to any one I am still waiting b for a response from the hotel I feel for the cost over 200 pounds a night was awful and I feel we should be able to get a refund
- Robert (6/5): Great location for what was needed Great staff but near busy road with no air con - Staff at the bar very helpful and good service . Room had large comfy bed with fresh milk and water in fridge . No air con but had 2 fans Room over looked busy road traffic noise was very present . As with older buildings unfortunately could hear other Guest using showers toilets Tvs or chatting . Areas are starting to look worn and tired in need of repaint and a refresh . Breakfast fried egg under cooked as was bacon
- Hilary (5/5): It worked for our purposes as close to centre parks to meet family - Dinner was good The room needed dusting. Breakfast was expensive and disappointing only tried it once
- Louisa (5/5): - They were flexible in accommodating us for dinner and breakfast without booking in advance Bedroom walls are quite thin so we could hear noise from other rooms and from the corridors. We couldn’t get hot water in the shower.
- michael (9/5): It was a comfortable hotel in a convenient location for a visit to Longleat. - The breakfast and dinner were very good.
- Wouter (8/5): -
- michael (8/5): -
- mark (5/5): Enjoyed the stay wasn’t impressed with staff letting them selfs in the room when my wife was in the bath. - The property was nice and clean
- David Gordon (9/5): Comfortable and welcoming -
- Thompson (6/5): Staff very friendly and accommodating - Bedrooms were excellent, Triple Glazing prevented ventilation so Bedroom over hot
- Paul (8/5): -
- Dawn (7/5): Very average - Breakfast was lovely, bed very comfortable, Evening meal was not very nice, roasted m in need of an update, did not match the pic on the web site
- Simon (9/5): Great stay in clean, warm and comfortable inn - This was a last minute booking arriving very late at night and leaving very early next morning. The room was comfortable clean and warm. The staff were extremely helpful and friendly
- C (10/5): What a gem! - Staff, rooms and food all amazing. Love this place Honestly couldn't find a negative
- margaret (10/5): Comfortable and welcoming stay - Hot breakfast was wonderful, Limited choice on continental
- Isabel (9/5): -
- mike (8/5): great location, friendly staff, good facilities - very good breakfast with excellent choice and service; dinner was good with plenty of choice, comfortable bar and dining area, friendly and helpful staff at all times. Our room, number 4 although a little tired in places, was clean, well equipped, with good range of facilities; with a very, very comfortable bed and pillows. a nice touch we thought, to have fresh milk in the small fridge in the room, although on the second day of our stay we realised that the fridge hadn't been working as the milk had turned sour on our return in the evening. Our room was situated above the main entrance/reception and as it is a very popular pub/hotel we did get some occasional noise, shouting and banging as people entered and left, but this did not really impinge on our stay. also our room was situated by the guest entrance door at the top of the stairs and as guests entered and exited their rooms, a combination of very squeaky floorboards, door banging and voices, at times contributed to the noise experience. but as stated earlier, it didn't impact on our stay. Next time though we would probably ask for a room further away from the entrance just for this reason. Part of the building are quite old so noisy floorboards are part of the fabric of the building so this is to be expected. Overall the hotel was a good find; it met our needs and as we were visiting Longleat and Cheddar, it was the perfect location. can't think of anything that we really didn't like as the hotel met our expectations very well.
- David (9/5): Great accommodation above a great pub - Really nice quality rooms and a great family pub. Staff were awesome! Was a little isolated but really close to Longleat and other attractions in the area.
- Liz (8/5): A very comfortable night's sleep. - Fabulously comfortable bed and bedding. Service good. Very good selection of food for breakfast. Bathroom skirting was very tatty and discoloured. Evening meal was greasy and not presented particularly well. I ordered a halloumi and vegetable skewer and the halloumi had dropped onto the plate and the vegetables were shrivelled. Also, I wouldn't usually expect pitta bread to be buttered. For £16.95, this didn't represent good value for money.
- Debora (6/5): Comfy bed but overpriced - The food was overpriced and overated Tiny portion of chips, barely any chicken on my chicken souvlaki, only half a flatbread and it was burnt, terrible water pressure in shower znd had to run water for ages before it got hot. Faulty fan in bathroom kept coming on and making a loud buzzing noise
- Rob (8/5): - Easy accessible and good local atmosphere. Room was very warm.
- lubeck (10/5): Staff was friendly l, room was clean. Pub drinks and food were great parking eas easy. Excellent stay - Fantastic pub and inn with interesting history I had no complaints
- Samantha (1/5): - Rooms were clean and well presented Walls were paper thin, you could hear every movement from corridor and other rooms, especially the noises from the next door room which made me feel very voyeuristic, not something I wanted my 6 year old to experience.
Ate in the restaurant because we were tired after a long journey, they were very understaffed with seemingly 1 person on the bar and only 2 servers for an entire restaurant one of whom was new to the job. My partner said he's s steak was very nice, unfortunately having ordered chunky chips he received fries, many items were unavailable and the lasagne had been cremated. A service charge was automatically added to the food bill with no apparent option of having it removed
Overall very disappointing especially for the price and I will not be staying or eating with the company again.
- Lloyd (8/5): Convenient location . Comfortable and lovely food . - Convenient location for where we had been during the day.
- Stephen (2/5): Sad new year's eve - The 2 bar staff were great, as was the female waitress Toilet was blocked on arrival- sense the place hadn't been properly cleaned. Dust on the coffee machine, dry milk in the fridge, dirty toilet floor. Disheveled feel.
The heating wasn't on and it was about 1 degree. Both problems fixed by staff but wasn't a positive start to new year's eve.
Food was extremely average. Burnt cauliflower starter and no one apologised or offered an alternative.
Ceiling fan came on early in the morning and we couldn't turn it off. I videoed it and showed the manager. He basically shrugged. Again no apology or compensation. We left without breakfast as the place felt unwelcoming and Franky dirty.
Also, bunk bed was a raised double bed. This is not a bunk bed. Bunk beds are for 2 children in separate beds, so what we booked wasn't what we got. Overall very disappointed.
- Marieke (10/5): Great accommodation, pet friendly and great value for money! - We stayed overnight in 2 rooms with our 2 dogs and 2 teenagers. Immediately received a warm welcome by the staff and had a lovely welcome pack in the room for the dogs with treats, toy, bed and blanket and even their own towel! The beds were great (and set out as twins as requested), coffee machine in room, nice bathroom with lovely Grohe shower. Such good value for money! Next visit to family are highly likely to come again. Some (mild) road noise, old windows and quite a fast road next to pub, but that also made it v convenient location for us and we all had great night sleep.
- Karen (9/5): Very enjoyable. But we wished we booked directly as they would have given us welcome drinks and late check out for a dis - Near Longleat. Excellent for stay after seeing the lights
- Vicky (9/5): -
- Amy (9/5): - Great location. The family room was excellent and exceeded our expectations.
- Martin (7/5): Mediocre - Spacious room. Good food Attention to detail on the cleanliness needed. Certain areas lacking. Found old tissue under the bunk beds.
In Bathroom the shampoo/shower gel bottles that were provided had excessive build up. Inside mini fridge was dirty.
Inside of toilet bowl was unkempt.
- Gezim (10/5): -
- Timothy (10/5): Great room, great staff, great food - Great location for our trip to Longleat and Bath. Water flow and temperature in rhe shower could be improved.
- Jose Giovanni Mijares (8/5): -
- Peter (8/5): Convenient good standards nice food - Parking - access good Nothing
- Margaret (10/5): We would be very happy to repeat the experience. - Generous space, comfortable bed friendly staff, large car park- pus lovely Christmas decorations. N/ A
- Nikki (9/5): - Love the location, the garden, the decor, staff efficiency and friendliness, great food, clean rooms, comfiest bed!
Also as stayed in December, a great touch was the Wreath on each door and a christmas tree in the room 🥰✨️ Nothing.
- Ron (8/5): As above - Room, breakfast. Maybe room layout, but I suspect shape of room (historic?) meant change not poss.
- ANN (7/5): Lovely staff and food let down by clearing - Breakfast was great and the lady serving was very friendly. Cleanliness lots of dust in bedroom . Paint chips everywhere. Shower was poor. Needs a good clean
- Sarah (10/5): Will definitely visit again! - Room was beautiful. Four poster bed and a lovely feel about it.
Enjoyed our dinner in the pub and breakfast was great too. Nest Eggs Benedict I’ve had for a long time!
Longleat Safari Park is only 6-8 mins away. Mattress and pillows felt VERY SOFT. Bit too soft for me if I’m honest. Wouldn’t stop me coming again though.
- Louise (9/5): Fantastic accommodation, will stay again. - Great location, plentiful parking, delicious food, comfortable beds and all the amenities I could ask for. Even a small fridge in the room. Nothing.
- Smith (8/5): -
- darcie (10/5): Stay was amazing Comfy Kingsized bed and really reasonable price - Everyone was very friendly and helpful
Room was lovely and had fresh jug of milk water in the fridge and a tea and coffee station nothing
- teresa (10/5): Great dinner lovely breakfast - Beautiful room , helpful staff Nothing
- Ashwini (10/5): - Good size rooms , Friendly staff , Nice food and bar
- Leanne (10/5): Fantastic stay, will definitely return. - Staff were very welcoming.
Great cosy pub with a lovely atmosphere.
Bed was extremely comfortable.
Ideal location.
- Julie (8/5): Nice stay but didn’t feel particularly welcomed by staff the service in the restaurant was poor - The rooms were so comfortable, big beds nice touches with home made cookies , milk bottle in the fridge , good bathroom Bar was good , staff abrupt & hard to find someone to book in & at breakfast , also it was so hot the heating was on full blast everywhere!!
- Matthew (8/5): -
- Cills (8/5): Pleasant stay at this hotel and would definitely stay again. - Staff were polite and friendly. Breakfast was excellent, and plenty of choice. Room was big and comfortable. There were a lot of voices heard in the street from our room, despite the window being closed.
The walls were very thin. Could hear the neighbouring room talking when they weren't acting out their conjugals!!
- Joanne (8/5): Stayed overnight after a trip to Longleat, good location, good food, would stay again - Chose to stay here as it is close to Longleat and had good size family rooms. Food at the pud was lovely, had both evening meal and breakfast there, good choice and good standard. The shower in our room wasn’t great, took ages to get hot and wasn’t a lot of pressure. Some areas could do with a little touch up of paint.
- Teresa (8/5): Comfortable friendly good food - Clean with welcoming room radio left on very cosy Bathroom needed a good lick of paint and bath was very high to get out of not good for anyone with any disability
- Sarah (10/5): really enjoyed our stay - The bed was very comfortable and the room was clean. The added touch of some homemade shortbread in the room was lovely .We had an evening meal in the restaurant, the food was excellent as was the breakfast in the morning. The staff were very friendly and welcoming , it made the whole stay from checking in until checking out in the morning a very enjoyable stay. Nothing
- Jean (8/5): -
- Andy (9/5): -
- Alexandra (10/5): Friendly stay in ideal location with great food - Perfect location for visiting Longleat, staff were all very friendly and welcoming, meals in the restaurant and breakfast were excellent. Our room, 11 with four poster, was lovely, especially appreciated the fresh milk in the fridge and the homemade shortbread. Would definitely recommend. Nothing
- Hannah (9/5): 1 night stay before hols in Center Parcs - Lovely pub stay before check in to Center Parcs
Our 3rd stay.
Warm, comfy and friendly.
Great food.
Really lovely staff continental breakfast selection but limited & bacon bit over done
