The one complaint I had is that the foyer and stairs were sandy and dirty, which is not bad in itself, but when the owners ask you not to wear your shoes in the house, you are walking in that sand and dirt in your socks or bare feet.

- Cole (10/5): Amazing Bed and Breakfast Experience - They were very accommodating for us. We arrived at 10 pm and made sure we were prepped for our stay. They even made us breakfast to go so that we could start our hike of Mt. Washington early. We were very impressed with the kind service. I would recommend them to anyone staying in the area! Also the property is gorgeous, wish we had more time to stay. Thank you!

From before check-in to check out Brian and Diane were super thoughtful and considerate from asking about food allergies/dislikes to making sure that you were all set with everything that you needed. I loved the creative breakfasts! Also, the fact that they had provided not only disposable makeup remover cloths but also had special washcloths that were specifically labeled for makeup in my room. This was especially helpful to me as I was up there for my brothers wedding at the famous "Omni Mount Washington Hotel". They were very helpful when it came to advice or tips about things in the area. I will 100% be recommending them to friends and family, in addition to planning another stay myself!

The bureau in our room was thick with dust ; the room was stuffy, and so bright overnight it was like daytime, even with shades drawn. The hostess was helpful with a snow shoeing option, but we still ended up leaving early.

- Susan (10/5): Seeing the stars - James the inn keeper was very funny and helpful. We appreciated the help to get our luggage upstairs. The beds were very comfy and I could look out the window and see the stars. The breakfast was so good, the best waffles I have ever had . The dining room was delightful. A couple of things I would say , I would make sure to take the swimming pool off the website if not available to use . The breakfast hours were not conducive to early morning travelers or hikers . I would suggest if you could not make the 8:30 breakfast there would be an option to take a breakfast on the road . I hated to miss that yummy breakfast the 2nd day. Also the website says breakfast at 8 and it was at 8:40 . Leaving that feedback as just an FYI . The inn was delightful .

- Joan (10/5): Lovely inn with gourmet breakfasts - We had a wonderful stay at the RiverWood Inn. It was just what a B&B should be. James and Susan were excellent hosts and very accommodating. The gourmet breakfasts were delicious. The RiverWood is very convenient to the Village of Jackson, and we enjoyed walking the 1 1/4 mile loop around the village each morning. The bed was very comfortable but very high for my 5 foot height. I loved soaking in the old-fashioned bathtub, but had a bit of trouble getting in and out. Accessibility was a bit of an issue, but not insurmountable. Would definitely stay here again.

The picture of the room on their website does not show accurate furnishings. Bed was very comfortable however there was only one comfortable chair despite 2 being shown in picture. A/C was fine. The pool was closed due to unavailability of parts to repair it which was a big disappointment as it was very hot. The breakfast was amazingly good. Can walk to covered bridge and a nice mile walking loop around town.

- Subodh (2/5): Extremely rude and discriminatory innkeeper - Denied accommodation, very rude and discriminatory, refused refund. My family and I drove for 3 hours to spend what was supposed to be a relaxing weekend away from July 1-4. We arrived around 8pm and were immediately told that no children were allowed. Claimed it was "plastered all over the website". (It is not as I checked the website multiple times for information before the trip). Obviously if we had known we would have made other arrangements. She was also very rude as she kept telling us that parents come here to "get away from their children". A simple and professional, "this is an adults only facility" would have sufficed. We were denied both accommodation as well as any kind of refund. (We understood the necessity of taking the charge for the first night because it was late, but she could have rented the room out the other two days). She was very discriminatory towards my husband (who is Indian). While they debated back and forth about getting a refund, she grew frustrated, turned to me, and asked, "Do YOU understand what I'm saying? Because HE clearly doesn't!" To which I replied, "He understands you, he is just DISAGREEING with you". After we left we frantically searched for an alternative place to stay (not easy at the last minute on 4th of July weekend!) Luckily we found someplace to stay but due to being refused a refund and being out an additional $600 then we budgeted for, we were forced to cut our trip short and return earlier than planned. Very disappointed.

- Chris (6/5): Gluten-Free Squirrels - Small Problem with our Gluten -Free Breakfast. We had emailed to make sure they served Gluten-Free. Then we checked again before we sat down for breakfast. Both times we were reassured that it was not a problem. In the end it was a problem. Food was brought out after the rest of the dinners had eaten and the others plates were cleared up. Owner pointed out that there was only 1/3 of a breakfast and that they did not have anymore to serve. Came back later and again noticed how little food was provided. No real apologizes or explanations... Also we awoken during the night by squirrels in the walls of the Garden Cottage. Owner was not surprised, says that happen at this time of year. When checking out they were unable to provide a bill for our stay, but managed to charge the full cost to our credit card...Still waiting for the bill they said they would send. Not really what we were expecting.

We had to open windows to let air in & little fruit flies invaded the room. One of the owners came up & vacuumed them but they kept coming in. They did take $50 off our bill which we appreciated. The breakfast was good but needed more protein.

I also slept better here than I have slept in a long time…. Great beds! The bathrooms are small, as they are in many B and Bs, but that is not a problem. The personal efforts of the owners to make sure we had ideas for what to do in the area were lovely and very much appreciated. Loved the old time feel.
- Verified traveler (10/5): Beautiful Inn - Beautifully decorated Inn with lots of antiques. Well situated in Jackson close to area amenities. We enjoyed our stay very much. Please be advised that there are no TVs in the rooms. We did not realize this when booking and were surprised upon arrival. Our only feedback is that, although delicious, the breakfast portions were somewhat small for the amount of hiking and activity we were engaged in during our stay.

- Halil (8/5): Clean, friendly & peaceful! - The stay was a good experience as the hosts were very hospitable & kind. It was just what was needed for our trip as much of it we ventured around the area & mount Washington. Breakfast provided was delightful, and the inn is close to a number of local restaurants & taverns so no trouble there. Would definitely recommend and looking forward to coming back!
- Richard (8/5): - James and Susan were wonderful hosts James had a lot of good tips on things to do in the area and Susan’s breakfast was restaurant quality! I did request a room on the first floor as my husband has bad feet and has trouble with stairs we did not get a reply. Our room was on the second floor. The room was lovely. I do think it should been noted on the website that there are no TV’s, also the beds are very high and if you have any hip or knee problems that could be an issue. I also think it should be noted on the website that you have to take your shoes off. There is a pool onsite but it needed cleaning. All said the Inn is beautiful, the hosts were lovely and the area is nice.

We felt we were friends and were only there a couple of days. And the Food is AMAZING! They treat you like royalty when you stay there. Nothing bad to say at all.

The property is breathtaking and the owners are the sweetest and kindest couple who are so knowledgeable about everything in the area, from where to get dinner, drinks, hiking, waterfall chasing and shopping! - Jeffrey (10/5): Truly a home away from home - We stayed for 3 nights at the RiverWood Inn at Jackson, NH. This was our base for exploring Mt Washington and Mt Crawford nearby. Susan and James were such great hosts, we felt like we've made lifetime friends after spending 3 days there. The breakfasts were great and something to look forward to each day, the common area was first-rate and relaxing to stay at. This is a place we highly recommend, and we are planning to be back already.

The owners were just the nicest most friendly full of information for anything and everything we could have needed. I highly suggest you choose this Inn for both the comforts of home and the experience of not being stuck in a box room with the typical hotel / motel amenities, there is all that and soo much more here for your relaxing beauty encompassed stay of the White Mountains area. I suggest you call direct for the best accommodations suited for your needs as the website does this place no justice! ♥️♥️♥️

- Sherry (10/5): - My husband and I stayed here on our first trip to New Hampshire to experience the fall foliage. We could not have asked for a more comfortable stay or experience. The owners, James and Susan, are personable, friendly and take amazing care of their guest. Each morning they serve a delicious breakfast, and every afternoon Susan serves homemade cookies in the parlor. Susan helped us plan our site seeing , and James located the exact maple syrup we wanted. We will always fondly remember the River Wood Inn and it’s special owners.
- Verified traveler (2/5): Beware!! Old house NO elevetor NO real Parking lot - I booked because of all the stellar reviews. I was wrong! Not sure how Riverwood Inn is rated as a 3.5-star hotel without the amenities that most hotels provide. Old furniture not very comfortable. NO parking lot – you essentially park in grass. We arrived late around 8 PM when it was already dark, we were really doubting if reached the right place. There were no lights and it was scary! It gotten worse when it rained, we really hated this part! I am glad it wasn't raining the first day when we were carrying luggage from our car, imagine dragging suitcases in wet grass! NO elevator… very disappointed. I missed to read about NO elevator policy before booking the hotel and I confirmed after my stay that it is listed on the Hotel’s.com website all the way at the bottom (almost as a fine print! in small font…who reads that? This is deceiving customers!). For me this is a big deal and I imagine it would be for anyone with 40-50 lbs. bags to carry upstairs!

As we said on departure for our road trip, they had set the bar extremely high. Would definitely recommend and hope to return one day.

Had easy access to the Kancamagus and 302 for some easy riding in the White Mountains on the motorcycle. Very friendly and knowledgeable Inn Keepers who excel at taking care of guests and making them feel at home.
- Stephane (10/5): A unique cozy experience - Very nice and cozy family owned retreat. The host are very friendly (almost B&B experience) and breakfast will get you going for the day. Old victorian house feeling in the common areas. No TV in the room (a strong WIFI) but to be fair : you don't need it in the area : so much to do ! A bit outside of town but close to everything ! (restaurants in walking distance)
