Guest Reviews
- Smith (8/5): Great overnight stay - Room and pub was lovely
- Alison (8/5): A lovely stay in Overton - Nice room in the Stable Block, with a good shower, heated towel rail and I loved the Nespresso machine and cookies! The staff were so friendly and helpful, and really enhanced the stay. I would have liked stronger overhead lighting; it was a bit too subtle.
- Alessandro (10/5): -
- Carol (10/5): - Very comfortable bed
Fantastic breakfast
Very friendly and helpful staff
Great pub with character Nothing
- andrew (8/5): Lovely place to stay great rooms and good food and a good atmosphere would definitely go back there - Nice atmosphere nice and clean Breakfast only starts at 8 a little earlier would be better as once your served it’s a good hour but I am a early starter though

- Alison (10/5): The White Hart, Overton - The room was large and comfortable. We took our dog and he was provided with his own bed as well as bowls. The facilities were excellent as was breakfast. Would thoroughly recommend The White Hart
- jamie (8/5): -
- Mark (10/5): Very comfortable stay clean and tidy. The staff couldn’t be more helpful. The breakfast hosts was extremely helpful and - The old quirkiness of the white hart The room we occupied was close to the main road
- Andrew (6/5): Nice, but overpriced when compared with what we paid for the same stay last year (more or less £100 more expensive). - Staff are friendly, breakfast was good. Free parking. Lovely old building. Rooms need a bit of redecoration, looking a bit tired now. We left a phone charger in the room. We reported it same morning and had a phone call back to say nothing had been headed in. No one could have checked in yet so i suspect someone isn’t being honest. This leaves a sour taste in your mouth….
- Patricia (10/5): -
- jon (8/5): Great staff, cosy room, excellent value - Conveniently located
Cosy
- céline (10/5): - L'accueil et le service au top !
- Guest (8/5): -
- Claire (10/5): -
- Sarah (5/5): - Location Staff not attentive
Ate there and the service very poor
Came down for breakfast at 7.50am and was told breakfast not until 8am and couldn’t sit at a table for 10 minutes until open
- Diana (10/5): -
- Jane (10/5): Perfect! - Clean comfortable stylish rooms. Lovely staff, Charmaine, Alex and Liv in particular.
Breakfast was delicious with loads of choice, as were evening meals.
Great value for money. Nothing to dislike
- cheesworth (10/5): Atmospheric, welcoming and so relaxing. - I've stayed at the White Hart Overton a few times now. I like the fact it is right in the centre of the village and only a 5 minute walk from my daughters house. I've stayed upstairs and in the Stables - which i love. Everything is supplied and tidied daily and replenished. The staff are always friendly and the seating is atmospheric. Hmmm ... perhaps the coffee machine at the bar could be hotter?
- Steph (10/5): - We had a great 2 night stay at The White Heart in Overton. The images of the b&b on booking.com. don't do it justice. It's well looked after, the staff are helpful and friendly and we had a wonderful stay and will definitely come back.
Charmaine was with us for both breakfasts, an asset to the team and very attentive and always got our day off to a great start.
There was a heater and fan in the room so it was well equipped for whatever your preference is. Breakfast was very good
- Stan (10/5): -
- James (9/5): Relaxing, friendly and full of character - Great location, great walking, building full of character, friendly staff, complimentary shortbread and seamless checking in. N/a
- David (9/5): A nice comfy room and good cheer - This was a beautiful pub/hotel in a great location for our trip. Like many British hotels, there are perks for booking on their own site. We never would have found this hotel without using Booking.com, the only reason we stayed here was it came up in the filter I made at Booking.com. It might be a good idea to give the perks to international guests who book through Booking.com? This is a heritage building and that makes some quirky features like crooked floors and odd head banging ceilings in the pub but don't let that scare you, this was a great place to stay. My wife made dinner reservations at the White Hart in Ostler, we all got a good chuckle out of that and they had room for us for dinner. The pancakes. Those round things you called pancakes bear very little resemblance to the real thing. A pancake should be fluffy, like cake. You are not the only British hotel passing off dough pucks as pancakes.
- Kim (9/5): -
- Caroline (7/5): - Location was very good. Staff friendly a d helpful. Beds were very comfortable as were the pillows.
- Karen (8/5): - Comfortable room, nice pub, ideal to visit the Bombay Saphire Distillery Strangely I keep receiving messages from them in Booking saying that I should book with them directly, like an automatic email. this was quite few times.
No coffee or tea in the room, it has kettle and coffee, but not able to use it with out this.
- Zoe (9/5): Comfortable , stylish and spacious - A really comfortable and spacious room with stylish period furniture in keeping with a country coaching Inn . Lovely bathroom with a roll top bath to relax in !
The staff were very friendly and helpful. We really enjoyed our stay . Nothing
- Laurence (9/5): - Size of rooms and facilities. Staff very helpful and friendly.
- Dr James (9/5): -
- Mark (9/5): -
- Christine (6/5): Great to have the option of a later check out for an additional fee. - Very comfortable beds, good breakfast and ample parking. Lovely to find milk in the fridge and shortbread biscuits on arrival! The curtain rail in my room was hanging off and the area where I had breakfast wasn’t very clean. Unfortunately I was given the wrong times for late check out, so I was chased up by house-keeping!
- Mauro (4/5): -
- Amal-lee (7/5): Pleasant except for the damp bathroom floor. - Cost room with very large bathroom. There was some kind of leak in the bathroom so the floor was very wet.
- Shelley (8/5): Will stay again - Perfect location for the party we attended. Staff were amazing and breakfast was delicious 😋
The room was lovely (lovely touch with the shortbread) and a very comfortable nights sleep.
- Michael (5/5): - Location excellent in village centre Cleanliness of room service was extremely disappointing. Very poor.
- Emma (9/5): A fabulous stay! - The staff were so welcoming. Accommodated all of our needs. The food was top notch and great value for money. Would definitely stay again and recommend to others! Only feedback would be more food options for GF.
- VERONICA (5/5): We visited the Gin Distillery which was only 5 minutes on the bus so it was very convenient. - The staff were delightful, helpful and friendly It is in desperate need of a complete refurbishment. It can be described as quirky!
- Driller (8/5): -
- Carl (5/5): We are meeting again in October so hope the breakfast is better !!! - Food dinner was not brillaint Fish Cake without a fish taste
Breakfast rubbish bacon so over cooked awfull
- Nick (8/5): -
- Pamela (9/5): Had a lovely time. - Very comfortable, room lovely soft beds. The bathroom was spacious and modern. Lovely claw foot bath and Large walk in shower. We came down for my granddaughters wedding in Basingstoke. We had a lovely time.
- COREY (5/5): A bit shabby and over priced. - Good location. The heating in the room did not work. The room was a bit shabby with broken window and unfinished plaster. There was no coffee. The hot water was not very hot. The food was over priced for what it was. £6.45 for chips! The staff missed the order. Some staff were not very pleasant.
- Dawn (8/5): A couple of issues but an excellent stay overall. - Location is good, both the room and the pub was lovely. The continental breakfast was really good but I didn’t much like the bacon sandwich as I’d asked for it well done but it came out as normal. I’m being pretty picky though, overall the stay was excellent. The walls are quite thin. I could hear pretty much everything from the room next door. Also, the housekeeping staff let themselves in before I’d checked out. Luckily I was dressed! It wouldn’t put me off staying again as I’m sure this is rare.
- Phil (8/5): Very enjoyable, very helpful staff, good food - Dinner was very good, tasty and enjoyable.
The staff were very helpful at all times The room in the stable block was a bit small
- Katie (8/5): -
- Donna (8/5): -
- Desiree (7/5): -
- John (9/5): - Clean and quirky. Food was very good and the staff were very friendly.
- Natalie (9/5): -
- Nick (7/5): -
- Andrew (10/5): Can't wait to stay again -
- Rebecca (8/5): -
- Angela (9/5): -
- Mike (9/5): A lovely stay....would recommend every day of the week! - I have stayed at a number of Upham Inns over the past year or so and the White hart didn't disappoint!
Really comfortable room in a well appointed annex. The fixed menu (3 courses) was outstanding value with good choice and well prepared/presented. The only thing for me ( as man of a certain age!) was there were no real ales on tap. As I say just a personal preference of mine and it certainly didn't spoil the stay. Its something I have increasingly noticed....increase in craft beers.....sign of the times I guess
- Gillian (10/5): Great venue - Really lovely, quirky pub. I loved the upcycled furniture. The bed was extremely comfortable, with super comfy soft pillows. When we arrived, the lights were on in the room, and classical music was playing softly. Food was good, with options for smaller portions. We'd booked breakfast, which was delicious. The staff were very friendly and helpful.
- Andrea (8/5): Friendly pub with rooms - Location for our trip. Atmosphere in the pub seemed happy with diners. Road noise quite loud.
- Piers (9/5): -
- Neil (9/5): Very cozy little place to stay we loved it - Very comfortable food looked very good all though we did not have any due to other commitments. We would definitely stay there again All good
- Henrietta (10/5): -
- Steeds (7/5): Clean & Comfortable - Our room was warm and comfortable, with large bed and beautifully white bedding. There were tea/coffee making facilities, together with a complimentary bottle of water and some shortbread biscuits. The bathroom was spacious with fluffy white towels and toiletries both next to the sink and in the shower cubicle. It was nice and quiet as we were towards the back end of the main building. We had a good nights sleep. The room is a little tired and could do with a paint. Also, there is a hanging rail for clothes, but no clothes hangers!
- Martin (10/5): Nice stay - Warm cosy room comfortable bed. nothing
- Angela (10/5): - The whole set up was fantastic. Nothing at all
- Joanne (7/5): It was fine for a an overnight stay. - Clean and comfortable bed. Spacious bathroom. Cleaning could be better. Dust on bedside table. Dirt marks on bath. Nespresso m/c but only one ‘used’ pod.
- Linda (4/5): Could have been better - Breakfast was nice and fresh didnt have any other meals When we got to our room there were leaves on the carpet Our room was at the end of the block where they had all gathered area should have been cleared. The hospitality tray had not been fillled no sugar instant coffee or coffee pods or the biscuits we had a note to enjoy. We got some supplies from the bar but the coffee was actually for a percolator I made some coffee but obviously there was a lot of dregs We had been told everything would be sorted next morning, We arrived back no coffee sugar biscuits Cups had been rinsed and the coffee ground left i sink Had to ask again next day drinks ect filled but bits broken glass on hostess tray leaves still in door entrance/carpet in room
- william (6/5): It served its purpose - Breakfast OK. but price advertised in room of £16 for two was not recognised in restaurant Service for dinner was slow. We asked waitress for Dessert Menu and it never came
- Valeriy (10/5): -
- Diana (10/5): Fantastic - It was great I had the best sleep in a long time. The facilities and music in the room was a nice approach.
- Hayley (9/5): -
- Elvina (8/5): - Room was very good, lovely bathroom but toilet needed bleaching.
Bed was so comfy and enormous.
Will definitely be staying again.
Parking was good.
Dinner was good. There was something going on in room next door, maybe laundry, could hear water gushing all night, quite loud.
- Phil (9/5): We have stayed in many places in that area and this has been the best so we will be back soon . - A quant property which was warm and welcoming . Rooms had an old fashioned feel and were comfortable with nice extras including a fridge with milk and water and some shortbread biscuits that were delicious. The staff downstairs were helpful courteous . This place had a family feel and the space downstairs was cosy . NA
- Darren (9/5): - Comfortable warm room Television facilities were okay, but some of them.were in a different language. Room a little tired, curtain rail needed refitting.
- Stephen (9/5): An attractive mixture of old and new. - Breakfast was excellent. Continental plus a hot choice. I had eggs royale, which was lovely. We also had an evening meal there, which we both found delicious if a little pricy. (But I suspect standard for the area.) We decided to forgo the decidedly expensive desserts, but were already sufficiently replete. The good reputation for food is well deserved. We had wondered about having the midweek 2 course menu but it looked rather limited and is apparently a remnant from a previous menu.
The inn apparently dates from the 16th century, though seemed to me more reminiscent of the 18th. The predominant colours is a not unpleasant greyish green. It certainly has character, with frequent sloping floors! However, it has been done up nicely, and both our bedroom and the pub were of high quality and attractive. The shower was excellent and the bedroom itself was quite spacious with a number of high tech gadgets. However there is no information as to how to operate the espresso machine and we had to request one of the staff to show us, which she did cheerfully enough. Most important of all, the (enormous) bed was extremely comfortable and we both had a restful night after I managed to open the window a crack and turn down the heating.
The staff were friendly and helpful with our requests, which was much appreciated. Just needed instructions for novices on how to use the espresso machine.
It isn’t immediately obvious where the parking is.
- David (10/5): A exceptional find - A warm, welcoming coaching inn with all the facilities one would expect
- Quinton (10/5): Luxurious, spotlessly clean, and incredibly comfortable - What an incredibly comfortable, tastefully decorated, and very clean room. It felt genuinely luxurious from the moment I arrived.
The large bed was exceptionally comfortable, and the beautiful, powerful shower was a real highlight. There’s also plenty of very secure, safe parking at the rear, which was great for peace of mind.
One of the nicest places I’ve stayed — waking up to a high-end coffee machine and excellent-quality coffee really adds to the experience. Highly recommended, and I will 100% stay here again.
- Toni (8/5): -
- Robert (9/5): - Staff were very friendly and attentive. Food was really good and portion size was more than acceptable.
Good selection of drinks
Rooms were well furnished and had all we needed. Beds were large and comfortable.
If in the area and looking for a hotel I would definitely prioritise this one The decor in the bathroom was tired and one of the shower tap handles was missing from the shower and sat on a shelf.
One point to note is some of the doorways are quite low so those of us who are taller have to be wary.....but thats the make up of an old building.
- Stacey (8/5): -
- RICHARD (9/5): Another very good Upham Inns establishment. - The staff were excellent. It was a busy Saturday but they were solicitous and quick to help and deal with requests. Special mention to Liv who was a great waitress but everyone was nice.
Beer - Pride was reasonable (near end of barrel, we found) but the winter ale really nice and well poured.
Evening meal was really nice and reasonably priced.
It's a lovely old building, well restored, warm and welcoming downstairs, and the top corridor to the rooms slopes in every direction! Big car park. Little things mostly. Window to the room was open on arrival so it needed a lot of warming up; there was only one bedside light so we asked for another (which arrived promptly); TV remote had poor connection.
Tastes vary, I suppose, but I'm the kind of fussy sod who thinks that the steak in steak frites should be a thin one.
- Johnson (10/5): - Excellent . Value for money. Breakfast was fresh and plentiful . Rooms were well appointed and comfortable.Good shower with nice toiletries. Tea and coffee with fresh milk in the fridge as well as a bottle of water. Parking was easy. We had the evening meal which was tasty. Would highly reccomend. Dissapointed that the Sunday roast had run out, however the hanging kebabs were tasty.
- Maxine (9/5): -
- Watts (9/5): -
- Robert (8/5): Very good would stay again. - Breakfast was very good.Would recomend it. near where we wanted to be.
- Corey (10/5): Yes, you should check out The White Hart - It's not the first time we've stayed in Overton. It is the first time we've stayed at The White Hart (previously eaten here)
The room and bathroom - beautiful. There were no issues with the carpark.
The pub itself is fantastic.
The staff were very accommodating - no silly questions from me didn't go unanswered
Would we stay here again? You absolutely know it. Only staying one night.
- Arlette (10/5): - Super comfortable, clean , yet still with period detail. Beds soo cozy, staff lovely. Highly recommend! Nothing!!
- Yvonne (7/5): - Comfortable bed in a good location.
- Troy Buckley (8/5): - Good location centrally located Noise from building work in the evening
- simon (8/5): Warm friendly hotel and pub - Great old building. Bar and restaurant area felt very cosy Rooms could do with a lick of paint, maybe carpets changed
- Valdiserri (9/5): Beautiful - The atmosphere One morning, there was not hot water
- mary (8/5): Friendly, welcoming and warm.. wish it was my local! - Perfect location for our break. Breakfast was great value/ we couldn’t eat it all!
Happy Hour and Blue Light discounts were a bonus!
Staff couldn’t be more friendly and helpful.
We felt welcomed and like ‘locals’ in no time.
Any requests were addressed and we had a lovely relaxing stay. The room was missing a few bits - limited storage for a long weekend stay.
Traffic noise woke me up
- Kenneth (7/5): -
- Hosmer (8/5): - Very friendly and helpful staff.
Exceptional breakfast.
Very comfortable bed. Our room was cold. Took ages to warm up.
- Manco (9/5): A lovely relaxing stay - The evening meal was great and so was the breakfast. Nothing.
- Glenn (8/5): -
- kathryn (4/5): Not as good as previous stays - Bug bed , strong shower
Homemade biscuit Nouse from delivery lorry right outside window at 7am. Nouse from kitchen door slamming late at night .
Dirty cup and used spoon and only 1 teabag
Bed not made properly on one side .
- Damaris (10/5): -
- Michael (7/5): -
- Diane (10/5): - Staff were very friendly and helpful Nothing
- Lorraine (9/5): Amazing breakfast from a lovely well equipped hotel - Lovely and comfortable with everything you could need in the room,
